Here’s the Commission’s job:

“We drive climate action in Aotearoa New Zealand by providing independent, evidence-based advice to the Government of the day.”

Apart from the bullshit “drive climate action” -what does that mean?- and misnaming the country, they state that their actual job is to give independent evidence based advice. (Another strange statement since advice based on evidence has no allegiances).

Rod Carr failed. He didn’t give evidence based advice, he merely recited psalms from the Climate Bible.
Patsy Reddy will fail, she’s another passenger on the gravy train who will nod compliantly.
And Luxon will kneel at the altar and rattle his rosary beads…

  Why not replace the courts with the same system? We could have a “Crime Commission” independently assess evidence without the need for defence lawyers or judges. The Crime Commission set their own agenda to “drive crime action justice”.

I had a similar astonishing count here in Upper Hutt the other day…

Last night I saw something on Fox News that seemed like rightwing crap.
The 2020 Trump regime had spent a fortune on materials to build the wall south of Arizona etc. The Biden swamp critters did not want that wall so the materials sat there unused since 2021. Fox reported that the Biden regime was selling the wall materials off at army surplus stores and wanted them all sold before Christmas.
I knew that such a preposterous scheme was Fox News crap. Nobody would be that stupid.
Silly boy, Tauhei Notts. I have seen that story repeated several times on other news outlets. The devious Biden regime seem to be more malicious than stupid.
Trump dodged a bullet at Butler, Pennsylvania. The world dodged a bullet when the Kackling One got rubbished early last month.

Putting aside the arguements for and against greyhound racing how can the govt criminalise killing redundant racing dogs when “Auckland City Council staff euthanised 4007 dogs in the 2023-24 financial year – an average of 11 a day. The number is three-and-a-half times higher than three years earlier.Oct 7, 2024”.

Also seemed to be overlooked is how the industry will re-home 1000’s of dogs in 20 months when 100s of all types of breeds are put down each week. So dogs of all breeds are hard to re-home yet they expect one breed and not your common family typical choice to be rehomed.

“This week, Minister of Racing Winston Peters announced the end of greyhound racing in the interests of animal welfare.
Soon after, a law to criminalise killing of redundant racing dogs was passed under urgency in Parliament.”

Why this was even brought before the govt in their first year when there’s so much more they need to do is puzzling.

  I saw the other day dog racing in New Zealand involves over 3,000 individual races around the country, involving 8 dogs starting in most races. So lets say if there are about 3,ooo race fit greyhounds in NZ then they each start about 10 times a year.
  
  Of that, `on track deaths’ are about 232 dogs died on the track a year in 2021 – a very low percentage I would have thought,

Recently Contact Energy announced that it had opened a new geothermal plant in taupo. It describes several projects underway.

Contact’s new geothermal power station on the outskirts of Taupō is now up and running, and capable of producing enough electricity to run the equivalent of 200,000 homes.

Fantastic! Finally some new generation.

The opening of the Tauhara power station came just a week after Contact announced it would build a new 101MW geothermal plant, Te Mihi Stage 2, as the first step in replacing its 1950s-built Wairakei geothermal plant.

AND an upgrade to more power and more resilience. Woo hoo!

Contact’s seventh geothermal power station, Te Huka 3 is in the final stages of commissioning and would generate enough renewable electricity to power 60,000 homes.

Oh my goodness! This is sounding better all the time! 60,000 homes.

In other news

Global tech giant Microsoft opens its first hyperscale data centre in New Zealand on Thursday, which is expected to give businesses and organisations access to tools designed to super-charge productivity.

We know how much power data centres consume…

Microsoft country manager Vanessa Sorenson said the New Zealand centre was the most sustainable hyperscale centre in its portfolio, with data centres in more than 60 locations around the world.

How is it so sustainable?

Microsoft paid Contact Energy $300 million in 2022 to support the development of the Te Huka Unit 3 geothermal facility, alongside a contract to buy renewable energy over the next 10 years.

Ahhh. So not going to power 60,000 homes after all…

I was first introduced by KB contributors to the economic theory that increasing monetary supply while not lifting productivity will result in inflation. Those posting noted we were going to be in for a massive run of inflation due to the Grant Robertson and Adrian Orr money printing and wasteful spending on a scale unimaginable. While many of those billions went into the Covid scam employed unemployment benefit for all, there was money thrown around like candy at a Santa parade all around the country. Some of our fellow kiwis and other parties have been made wealthy at the expense of the rest of us.

Why has the coalition government not set up an economic auditing taskforce to trace every cent and hold accountable any that have fraudulently been paid for goods and services never provided or provided at hyper inflated values?

Why has the coalition government not smashed into the over inflated public service?

It smacks of appeasement, weak leadership, and the lack of a strong vision. Labour had a vision to wreck the country and turn it into a socialist cesspit. They were quite successful. The coalition government must get a stronger united vision and set this country back on its feet. They are doing some good but just not enough, fast enough.

Smashing down the numbers in the public service gives them the opportunity to clean out large numbers of socialist, Marxists who will resist them every step of the way. Those people will never be their friends. There will be large cheers from their true friends if they get on with this. I’m not talking about staff in hospitals or schools etc. The cuts must be directed at the lump of indirect workforce employed in central ministry.

The taskforce auditing the Covid scam payments will also expose the corrupt and send signals that you can’t just throw Government money at anything you want. This should go right to the top and include the decisions of Adrian Orr and Grant Robertson.

The posters on KB who educated me about the cause of inflation knew what was about to happen. It is criminal that the RB Governor and Minister of Finance didn’t know.

Even if the taskforce can’t prosecute these wreckers and destroyers at the least they should expose the corruption and provide some recommended law changes to enable future prosecution for similar acts of economic vandalism. Holding the highest offices of financial management in the country should not absolve you from responsibility. No, those with the greatest responsibility and power should have the highest levels of scrutiny and accountability.

    Paulus I assume you were replying to my post. But isn’t Orr and RBNZ fiercely and legislatively independent? And he was very happy to go around saying what he was doing was fine. If Orr is just doing what he is told then get rid of the role and save the mega-salary.
    
    Also, it should be illegal for the top position in Ministry or Government agency to extend any further than 1 year into the next government term. That would allow for a smooth transition of power, reappointment if apolitically competent and remove the mockery of the NZ taxpayer of gifting a 5 year contract just before you lose office.
