The US Consul in New Zealand in 1840 James Clendon had sent two copies of the final English draft to America in March and April 1840. So we know the final English draft was around. But Clendon had it and he made two copies to send to America and do you know what they’re still in America today.

    The Maori Chiefs signed the Maori worded Treaty of Waitangi.
    The copies that Clendon made and sent to America were copies of the English worded Treaty written by James Busby. This was the original English version which was translated into Maori by Henry Williams and his son Edward. This original by Busby was given to Lawyer Henry Littlewood for safekeeping. It was found in a house of Littlewood’s descendants in 1989. It became known as the Littlewood Draft.
    This Littlewood draft was put away in Archives NZ by the Govt of the day and has never been seen since.
    So the two copies sent to America need to be retrieved. The Waitangi Tribunal uses the James Freeman version which is not the same as the Original Maori version.
    Activists have been rorting NZ for 50 years.

ASSASSINATION SEQUENCE

1. Shooter takes his father’s gun from home. Was seen acting suspiciously perhaps an hour before Trump spoke at the metal detectors.

2. 30 mins before he was confronted by local policeman carrying a rangefinder.

3. Seen carrying a ladder and rifle. Purchased a ladder and ammo. the day before.

4. Seen by public climbing, crawling up on to roof with rifle. I think he knew this building.

5. Eventually two local police went to investigate after repeated public observations. Couldn’t get up. One officer climbed on to back of other or was hoisted up to peer over roof edge. Saw shooter who pointed his rifle at him. Dropped back and fell. This may have attracted the counter sniper officers who ranged onto the scene.

6. Shooter panicked and began shooting at Trump from prostrate position, perhaps not ready yet and shaken by being discovered by armed police. Apparently a local officer on ground got some shots off at the shooter.

7. Counter-snipers behind Trump began shooting back while Trump still standing and talking.

8. Mutual exchange of fire, 3 public hit, Trump moves head to his right to discuss screen image, hit in ear. Shooter hit and killed by counter-sniper. Perhaps 5-8 bullets. Bullet photographed speeding past Trumps head.

9. Trump clutches ear and voluntarily drops. Secret Service leap to his aid and cover knocking off his shoes. Notice on Comm.s “Shooter down.”. Some Secret Service who do not look fit or athletic seem disorientated, verbally don’t know what to do, one can’t holster her pistol.

10. News goes out. Shooter’s father calls 9-11 about his son. Why?

11. Protection Services say Shooter acted alone. But still haven’t accessed his phone or social media ( still a day away). How did they know this?

12. During day, Protection posted inside Shooter’s building, not on roof because it was sloping (ie too dangerous for personnel but Counter-snipers (2) are already posted on a more sloping roof behind Trump. ??). No drones provided eyes and ears over whole scene.

13. Protection drawn away for a last minute rushed event for First Lady Jill Biden. Ditto Kamala Harris, despite known Iran threats on Trump. Officers also pulled on to traffic duty. This spread Protection resources very thin. There was no perimeter defence within 140 yards beyond the 2 local police who WENT to check roof. Officers had to ram a fence to get in to the area. Where were the supposed service inside building? What did they do when they heard shots?

      I think one will find range finders in the pockets of a fair percentage of that crowd or any crowd for that matter.
      
      All it takes is a range finder, a cellphone and Google earth to identify a target with reasonable precision to call in a strike.
      
      Now we know that a range finder is a definite no-no for a political rally or a concert for that matter.

      Vance may well be my type of Republican. A smart, ambitious, opportunist who wants to make a difference to the lives of Americans and ………… of course, protect the American Constitution.
      
      I could see myself voting for him irrespective of some of his “expendable” associates. I am a “nationalist” rather than a “globalist”.

    Here is a major problem with the deep state assassination conspiracy theories (and I’m using that term in its correct and literal meaning), and this goes for the Kennedy (plus MLK plus Malcolm X et al.) assassinations as well.
    Why choose THIS method?
    So, you have a power, evil and determined group in the heart of the government who want Trump gone, eliminated, out of the way. Fine, but they are not stupid. They’ve tried the political scandals, the impeachments and the lawfare but it hasn’t worked, so they decide it must be death.
    OK fine, but why choose THIS METHOD?
    There have got to be hundreds of effective and undetectable poisons, and with access to his medical records they would know exactly how much is needed.
    A little bit of something in his cheeseburgers or coca cola and he keels over of a heart attack or stroke.
    Of all the ways you could kill a man, why choose a method that is extremely complex and difficult?
    BTW this line of reasoning also applies to those bizarre “Putin Novichok” stories we have all heard

  What I wonder about is why he was walking around with a range finder.
  
  All the distances are very easy to work out on Google Maps in the comfort of your own home.
  
  On top of that, the maximum point blank range of a 223 is about 250 yards (230 metres). Anything less than that and there is no need to compensate for range.

    MPI doesn’t directly employ many scientists or economists, it contracts that work to CRI’s and Universities. So that you can get the particular expertise you need for any given issue. A massive chunk of their staff would be considered “front line”; vets at freezing works, Biosecurity officers at ports and airports etc., and teams monitoring and/or controlling the spread of dozens of toxic organisms that are already here (gold Clams, Caulerpa, brown stink bugs various grasses etc) either directly or through contracts with local/regional groups.

    I should clarify that MPI do of course employ a number of scientists and have their own labs, but again that work is operational rather than research. Testing samples for various potential pathogens and pests; Anthrax, F&M, Scrapie, Bovine TB, MBovis – and a plethora of others in plants and animals. They hire in the research capability as required to meet specific demand. i.e they use a market driven model rather than having experts directly on the payroll 24/7.

    If this guy is so sure about his analysis for the Czech Republic, he can submit it for peer review by reputable statisticians and submit it for publication. Of course he cannot do so because it would be ripped to pieces.
    
    “Evidence” of vaccine harm has been circulating for at lest 25 years. Of course the Internet has turbo charged the conspiracies. As I have repeatedly said you can’t reason with them. Just like homeopathists, and Maori who believe that the lunar cycles are linked to illness. I find it ironic that commenters here who mock Maori for such beliefs openly swallow vaccine conspiracy theories.
    
    Anyway, I realise I need to let it go. The deluded can wail that the covid vaccines killed millions. The rest of us can be guided by science and reason. BTW I have never had covid and I do not expect to contract it.

      BY – why do you “expect not to get it”? Statistically you should expect that you will get it, regardless of vaccine status. I only know 3 people who have not had it – one has had 7 shots (UK), one had 3 shots and the third had no shots. I guess I know a couple hundred people so statistically you will get it surely? Witness after witness relates a story of NFR orders being put onto elderly family members’ clinical records without their consent. Many of those patients were put onto the end-of-life pathway. Paul Adams, owner of Carus Corp. was mentioned – I know Paul, and my son, who does all Paul’s personal local building & alteration work is also very friendly with the whole family and a close mate of Paul’s son. I don’t see anything sinister here, and I would take it as a farewell to the comisionners. (IMO – don’t let the door hit you on the arse on the way out.)

        If it’s privately funded but gives property developers and construction firms the chance to network and ingratiate themselves with council managers and decisions makes then it most certainly does impact on ratepayers & ratepayers have a right to know all about it. A number of construction companies were seemingly very keen to sponsor the event: why is that? To be blunt: do they have an interest in seeing the $320 million ratepayer funded ‘civic precinct’ go ahead? You bet they do. And while everyone is high-fiving and toasting the ‘city transformation’ ratepayers are eyeing the costs & the construction companies are eyeing their profits.   I attended that function and I wouldn’t class me as an A Lister by any measure. Basically, anyone who they saw as opinion leaders were invited from what I observed: business representatives, funders, elected councillors, social services, sports people, rotarians etc.

        I think you’re grasping at straws. Sure, they were major local construction & financing people, but IMO were looking forward to a new era. After all, certainly council needs these people to continue the growth of Tauranga, but also these people need the co-operation of council, so mutually beneficial. Much the same as, when I was in residential construction, giving a Christmas shout to that years’ customers & my suppliers etc.

        Why does Tauranga ‘need to grow’? Property developers and construction firms may have an interest in it growing, but ratepayers don’t. Ratepayers lose out through congested roads and congested services such as the local hospital and GP’s. Ratepayers are facing a $320 million plus bill for a ‘Civic Precinct’ full of white elephant buildings like a ‘civic whare’ and a museum. It’s all bs.     I think you will find that most of the large construction buildings currently going up in Tauranga CBD are privately owned & financed. The only one that I am aware is council funded (ratepayers) is the new council building on Devonport Rd. Most of the money that has been pissed away has been on Cameron Rd. modification – footpaths, cycleway, bus lanes – you know the story, and others like it – Maunganui Rd and various park improvement & so on.

Who built the brand new council building? Willis Bond, one of the sponsors of the council’s swanky waterfront event. How much did the new building apparently cost? $45 million.

At 7am this morning, wind was producing 30MW of electricity.
Gas and coal are currently producing 1,326MW of the total 5,772 being generated.
So a quarter of all km driven today by EVs will be gas and coal powered.

Wind has a capacity of 1,249MW so doubling the installed capacity will make good headlines but only add another 30 MW of generation on calm foggy mornings.

  World wide, we see from the latest reports that fossil fuels, coal, oil and natural gas account for 81% of the world’s energy. Nuclear and hydro account for another 10%. The renewables, that the Greens love, account for only 8% of the world’s energy!

  Travelled past the big storage lakes a couple of times in the last week. They are really low. As is Wanaka and Wakatipu on the Clutha catchment. It is also very cold and very calm – not unusual. Bear this in mind, 85% of NZ’s generating capacity was built before privatisation. A few wind farms isn’t going to cut the mustard and until there is real incentive to build some more hydro and get rid of any of this nonsense of who owns the water, there are going to be some tough energy times ahead. And commonsense tells us that these generators need to be built near where the power is being consumed – at the top of the North Island.

        Nuclear is a 20th century solution to a 21st century problem. The only country presently building nukes at scale is China.
        
        If the decision to build a nuke was made tomorrow I would guess the first electrons would go to the NZ grid sometime around 2040 give or take a bit.
        
        Not that I am particularly anti, but things are far from simple.
        
        The waste problem is a long way away from being solved. I think one of the Nordics has commissioned some underground disposal but everyone else is still pretty much talking about it. Germany is spending gazillions to remove stuff that they poked into a salt mine – they decided that the salt mine is not as safe as they thought – and are a bit short of ideas about where to put it now. Most of the waste around the world is “temporarily” in cooling ponds next to the plants …. some of it is truly nasty and long-lived stuff.

        With ocean oil drilling tech you can bore a 1m diameter hole in the sea floor 1000’s of km from anywhere in geologically unchanging continental plates, to allow burying of all waste km below the sea floor, with zero flow of ground water around it and with a concrete cap 100’s of m thick. High water pressures above would keep gaseous decay products like krypton, radon or xenon in liquid state forever and it would be impossible to even detect once placed and sealed.

        I realise that. The lake operating level range is only 1 metre if I remember correctly. But the two spare penstocks were put there for a reason.
        The cost of installing two additional turbines and associated infrastructure, while high in itself would be comparatively low when possible benefits (such as an almost instant peak/reserve capacity such as that required to prevent blackouts) were to be taken into account.
        
        The problem as I see it, is the lack of a comprehensive national energy policy in NZ. Everyone does their own disjointed bit; put a wind farm here, put a solar farm there, a little of a “green hydrogen” hype somewhere else and hope for another great lake Onslow-type headline in the daily paper. Not forgetting unrealistic “100% carbon free by 2030” goals and “captain’s calls” of course…

    The last proposed scheme was Project Aqua on the Waitaki River. However Meridian gave that away when it was realised that consenting and related issues appeared insurmountable. Any further significant hydro development would be almost impossible given the current framework. Special legislation would be required and the Government would need to weigh up the likely impact on votes.

    In many countries that would mean an increase in electricity generation of between 3000% and 10000%. And that does not take into account the required infrastructure.
    
    Even in NZ, with hydro and geothermal if we would need to increase electricity generation by close to 8 times, and given the delay in doing so, by the time the generation and infrastructure is in place that demand will have doubled.

I received an e-mail from the Taxpayers Union. They uncover wasteful government spending and council craziness all the time, which is cool but I do wish the National Party could locate some of this information as well:

‘The short point is our councils are out of control. We’ve uncovered that the average for city and district councils is an eye-watering 14 percent hike this year – and that’s on top of the 15 percent rate hikes at regional councils.
Central government cost-cutting is only half the battle. Town halls need to catch up with economic reality and trim back office fat, can pet projects, and focus on core services.
And before you hear the squeals from Local Government New Zealand about ‘needing’ more money for infrastructure, when we’ve looked at growth in local government in previous years, we’ve found that at nearly every council, the proportion of spending going to capital items (roads, pipes, pumps, etc.) has actually been reducing compared to the proportion going to operating expenses (i.e. staff payroll and back-office bureaucracy).’

He states the Electricity Authority states 6932 residential disconnections in the year under report.

Gosh , who to believe . And then the media ( who relentlessly peddle mis/disinformation narratives) wonder why the trust is gone and demand taxpayer protection.

  The main four ‘gentailers’ are the big whipping boys of discontent and frustration with power prices and non-payment issues. They of course are NOT Mother Teresa. Power retailers have probably gone as far as they can with policies for those not paying their bills for whatever reason (and this means there is an element of subsidy by those who pay on time since on-time discounts have been banned). The power companies even cop complaints about ‘power poverty’ etc when customers are on prepayment systems like GloBug. Difficulties with stumping up money to feed the meter is NOT a power company problem, it is a welfare problem.
  Another issue – subsidised power is all very well, but is not ‘green’ as there is less incentive for economy so more coal is potentially burnt. The whole thing is a welfare issue, not a power company issue.

One can only generalise from one’s own experience but since hearing this interview I have had two Air NZ bookings, one domestic flight delayed by over an hour and this morning an international flight canceled. ‘Electric Kiwi is shutting its doors to new customers, blaming soaring wholesale energy prices.

The power retailer says prices have increased by nearly 50% in the past six months, and it has now reached a point where every new customer would lose it money.

It says the big four gentailers —Mercury, Contact, Meridian and Genesis— all made over $2 billion in record profits last year.

Electric Kiwi CEO Luke Blincoe told Mike Hosking the Electricity Authority and Commerce Commission have allowed market failure to happen under its watch.

He says we rely on the market to deliver an essential service efficiently and that’s not happening with the current distortions’.

And we wonder why so many power customers just can’t afford to pay their bill. Simeon Brown must take some action, sooner or later.

  If someone sets up a power retailer relying on ‘fairweather’ wholesale prices they must be prepared to take the rough with the smooth. For example Contact is in a ‘short’ position (ie more customer demand than its capacity). If Contact starts whining that market wholesale prices are too high, Contact would just be laughed at. Contact knows that it just has to take the high prices on the nose and could make a commercial decision not to accept new customers (or ease up efforts to attract new customers). If that is the situation Contact faces and has to deal with, the same must apply to any other retailer, they have no right to expect to buy power on the market at a capped price.
  There is a big difference between the gentailers and pure retailers. The gentailers know they have to invest in new generation to meet the needs of their customers. The pure retailers just expect the power to be there, they have no interest in investing in generation either directly or indirectly via long term contracts.
  Even major customers take care of their whole energy supply chain. For example Infratil (NZX:IFT) has become a major developer of data centres which have an enormous appetite for electricity. Infratil also owns 51% of Manawa Energy (ex Trustpower) which has the fifth largest fleet of power stations in NZ. Manawa has sold off its retail customers to Mercury but with a diminishing tail of transitional supply contracts with Mercury so it has spare capacity to sell going into the future. It is a complete no brainer that Infratil is going to manage its electricity supply chain from generation through to its data centres and ensure Manawa will add to its generation fleet accordingly.
  By contrast it seems Rod Drury (ex XERO) wants to get into the data centre business but is concerned about sourcing electricity. It seems he would like to purchase on the market when prices are reasonable (perhaps 90% of the time) but at a capped price the rest of he time (similar to Electric Kiwi etc). He cannot negotiate this so wants the regulators to force the gentailers to provide capped prices when things turn tough.

    peter, Contact have another 2.5% price hike in the offing. I can remember when the government of the day usually increased power prices around Budget Day. Dams were built as needed and if more power was needed we had coal, gas or oil. Then the Greens arrived in numbers.

      Yep and the wholesale price we were charged at the time was $30/MWh. Against a levelled lifetime cost of $150-210/MWh. That is what the cost of the hydro stations was 50+ years ago.
      (For context, the current long run wholesale price for wind, gas etc has not reached this >50 years later!)
      
      I can’t provide a source as I read this in a paper report in the old ECNZ library when I used it for research in the 80s!!!

  There is a huge difference between the accuracy levels needed target shooting and for shooting a person on a deer. Competitive target shooting requires far more accuracy and a target shooting “reject” is still capable of shooting people/animals.
  
  Still, many experienced hunters manage to miss a deer-sized animal completely at this range.
  
  Shooting paper targets is entirely different to live targets at least in part to “buck fever”.

    I have shot at military targets – the one with the figure of the helmeted soldier – with the FN SLR over 100 and 200 yards.
    The gunnery instructor with us told us the heavier 7.62mm round (as opposed to the 5.56mm) was better over longer ranges because ‘it held up better’. Apparently something to do with velocity.

      The 7.62 rounds typically have a better ballistic coefficient (BC) than 223 rounds meaning they are don’t lose their energy as quickly. A 7.62 also starts off with much more energy (being a much bigger bullet). That is why a 7×62 “holds up better”.
      
      But all that stuff only matters beyond 300metres or so.
      
      At 100-200yards meh. If you’re hit in the middle of the head with a 223 or a 308 any difference is pretty academic.
      
      It would be easier to be accurate with a 223 at those distances because there is less recoil and flatter shooting.
      
      The .223 (aka 5.56×45) is much faster than the .308 (aka 7.62×51) so it is flatter shooting at shorter ranges. That would make the .223 a superior weapon for these close in shots.
      
      So how accurate was he any way? You can’t really judge accuracy off just one shot. Maybe he was just lucky.

      Tripe, the M4 and it’s predecessor the M16 fire the 5.56mm cartridge. The current doctrine for most militaries is to zero M4’s at 300m range. Thus in the hands of a capable shooter it should be good over at least that range.
      
      During WW2 the standard rifle, light machine gun & medium machine gun cartridge was around 0.30inches in all the major militaries (30cal). Post WW2 the advent of mainframe computers enabled the tabulation and analysis of all small unit firefights. These studies revealed two facts:
      
      1) The average first engagement range was around 400m.
      2) The winning side was usually the one that fired the most rounds the fastest.
      
      The standard US infantry rifle during and post WW2 was the clip feed semi-automatic M1 (.306). The M14 was an evolution of the M1 capable of fully automatic fire. The issue was it was practical impossible to control on full auto due to the shear power of the 0.306 rounds.
      
      This eventually led to the development of the M16 by Eugene Stoner (the M16 was based on his original civilian AR-15). The M16 utilizes the 5.56mm (0.223) cartridge and is a lot easier to control on full auto (although the 2nd generation of M16 were fitted with burst limiters).
      
      The US military was actually very slow to adopt the M16. There was a huge institutional attachment to the 7.6mm (0.30) round. The first contract for M16’s I believe was from the US Air Force. This I believe was Gen Curtis Le May’s decision as he considered the M16 to be the superior weapon for airfield defence.
      
      The 5.56mm round has a number of desirable military assets these being:
      
      A) The cartridges weighs less so your typical grunt can carry more ammo.
      B) The 5.56mm will disable a higher percentage of targets as opposed to causing outright death. From a military perspective wounding the enemy ties up more resources than outright deaths.
      
      Lot of text I realize but I don’t think that the range in this case was impossible for a 5.56mm.
      
      Your point about the 7.6mm cartridge is correct but I would contend that that probably applies at ranges over 400mm.

  That is a nasty bit of road in black ice conditions but closing the road is overkill since it’s a busy tourist route and there’s no alternative. Surely the district council has a spare hundred orange cones they can offer up.

The “safe and effective” COVID-19 vaccination mantra was an effective weapon of propaganda, according to former Centers for Disease and Prevention (CDC) director Dr. Robert Redfield. Dr. Redfield admitted to the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee that vaccine mandates were a complete mistake.

Appointed under Trump, Dr. Redfield served as the CDC director under President Biden, who he claims insisted the health agency suppress data regarding adverse reactions to prevent vaccination hesitancy. “There was not appropriate transparency from the beginning about the potential side effects of these vaccines, and I do think there were inappropriate decisions by some to try to underreport any side effects because they argued that would make the public less likely to get vaccinated,” Redfield testified.

So – the government(s) knew that the vaccines were neither safe nor effective, as did the health agencies. Still, they mandated the public take the experimental vaccine or be disallowed participation in society – and for Kiwis, barred from coming back home.

I really like this guy.

China is a communist country which opposes the west and is currently waging a war with the west: not a militaristic war but an economic war. They intend to invest in / buy out / trade with / whatever to the point where they control the economies of western nations. And not just the West: Africa and the Pacific are prime examples.
