    The guys online history has been scrubbed and considerable efforts have been made to confuse it. He recently registered as republican for example despite a deeper online history of antifa membership. Before drawing any conclusions as to his political leanings remember that the evidence of this has been tampered with.
    
    What is clear to me simply from the geometry of the location is that this was set up as a shooting gallery and Trump was supposed to die.
    
    The secret service clearly stood aside to give the guy his shot. A ladder was helpfully left for him and coverage was removed from that building which had an obvious and clear view of the stage. Note that it was POLICE snipers who took the shooter out. And the Secret service guys around Trump that day seemed unusually incompetent. Not their best squad I’d say.
    
    Biden mumbling about it being time to put Trump in the bullseye is another hint. Biden clearly isn’t calling the shots these days, but people say things around him and like the foolish old man he is, he blabs.

        I might be wrong. It is early days to make predictions. However if I am right this guy will be found to have been living obscurely, mostly off the grid, and with no obvious means of support for the last year or so; whereas a typical person his age would have a job or be going to college. That kind of information about the assassin’s background isn’t out yet. Let’s just see shall we?

        The bigger ‘the plot’ becomes, the more plausible it seems to be to the dunderheads….when the opposite should be true. So you now have multiple agencies all involved in ‘the plot’, and apparently made up 100% of homicidal Democrats keen to go ‘all in’ on an assassination plot.       David – admit it, this was either highly incompetent on the part of the Secret Service and Police, OR it was a setup to take out Trump.
      
      It clearly wasn’t a well developed complicated shooting. Broad daylight with witnesses yelling for 3-4 minutes beforehand. An obvious rooftop shooting position only 130m from his target. Five shots were fired by the 20-year-old shooter while he had SS snipers locked onto him watching.

Also, Oswald killed JFK. Get Case Closed by Gerald Posner and read or listen to the whole thing then explain why you’re not convinced. I say this as someone who read every conspiracy book and was all in. Then felt rather silly when I read a book with some facts in it

Our local taxpayer funded news service in the form of TV1 took 7 hours to report Trump being shot at according to Hosking. I contend had Trump been killed the news bods would have an immediate response. Our broadcasting Minister needs to have a serious discussion about the future of government funding to these muppets.

  Often the perpetrators of mass shootings and assassinations are loners with mental health issues. Classmates of this would-be assassin have described him as a loner who was relentlessly bullied at school (are they also in on ‘the plot’ 🙄). So you were pretty safe in those predictions.
  Not surprising that organisations who exist to curb gun ownership would use this incident to call for the curbing of gun ownership. Another pretty safe predictions.

  Trump was very lucky the shooter’s knowledge of gusn and how to shoot came from playing Call of Duty. 130m with a 0.223 is damn near point blank range and even the cheapest AR15 shoudl put all 5 into a 4″ circle at that range, and anything of quality or a decent bolt action will be under 1″.
  Accurate shooting is harder than video games and the movies make it look.

    There are degrees of point blank: lining up a snoozing rabbit is a bit different to the pressure of lining up the former President and knowing that return fire will be coming your way that will likely end your own life. The shooter had to process the mental turmoil that would go with the impending shock and potential pain of being shot by snipers. The former President was also demonstrably a moving target, moving his head and gesturing as he spoke. The fact he was a moving target is amply demonstrated by the fact that he moved his head and the wouldbe fatal bullet grazed his ear.

    Further reading it appears to be a Remington Bolt actioned rifle.
    5 shots would normally be within 1″ grouping with a rest.
    Not skilled or Professional at all.

  Acted alone is mostly a given too, two people can keep a secret – if one of them is dead.
  
  His goal was clearly to take down Republicans via deading their big Orange Avatar; a rational part of that process is to remove as many traces of left leaning activities as possible and create as many to point to him being far-right as possible to take wind out of republican sails. EG registering as republican costs nothing. FBI as a clearly partisan progressive/DNC aligned organization would naturally assist in that muddying of the waters process if it hurt electoral chances of the republicans.

Over the weekend I attended a local children’s singing competition, an annual event with which I’ve been involved on and off for over 50 years. I was astonished when out of the blue the captive audience was obliged to sit through a karakia. Is this now the norm in Aotearoa, formerly known as New Zealand, that whereas a Christian prayer in a secular setting would be frowned upon and no doubt be the subject of formal complaints, it is the norm for people of all or no faiths to be obliged to participate in such pagan invocations? We all sat there like lambs, of course, because we were too polite to do otherwise. As a practicing Christian there’s no way that I would consider it appropriate to force others to participate in the Our Father in a secular setting. Why should it be any different for a karakia?

From a secular country with a Christian culture, hence a prayer at Parliament, grace at meals in my youth, we’ve become, almost by accident although of course it’s not, Maorified, as if it is the natural order. It is not. Karakia and all other things religious have their place in the appropriate setting. For Maori blessings it is Maori events. They have no place anywhere else.

  We are in a post-secular society now Nukuleka. The maori prayer is required to start meetings in government agencies, and at my daughter’s high school (a costly “special character” school with virtually no Maori students) maori greetings are de rigeur.

  If yes, perhaps you could approach them for an explanation. And ask if other prayers or religious beliefs could be included next time.

  Nukuleka, this could all theoretically be solved by a re-stating that the New Zealand Government is secular, which should be up for consideration along with Seymour’s principles that the Government is even entitled to Govern, and that all New Zealanders have the same equal rights and responsibilities.

  Your points are valid wrt karakia vs Christian prayer. We both know nothing will come of it, however saying nothing is tacit approval. Polite dissent, even if it changes nothing, is at least some sort of pressure.
  
  The question is what will you do when your concern is rebuffed? I’m assuming that being involved for over 50 years means you don’t have children in the competition anymore, so you could then simply withdraw your involvement. Certainly any financial support.

  I spoke to a friend of my partner who works at the local hospital. At the daily meetings for her team they kick off with the Karakia, then everyone goes around the room speaking in Te Reo. She was talking about how the new processes up at the hospital help Maori deal with their fears regarding “white mans medicine”. I was saying back to her that Maori haven’t been blasted from 1840 to the ‘strange and alien’ world of 2024, that all of us alive today have had to deal with the modern world – it’s a shared experience, that most ‘Maori’ are themselves part ‘white man’….but I was getting some rather blank looks in response.

Had it succeeded, a replacement Republican would have wiped the floor with Biden. All he would have needed to do was remain focussed.

In any event, the failure of the attempt creates a narrative that Trump is leaning into, with great effect. And he doesn’t need to do anything. He has portrayed himself as a victim, and this will only fortify this belief for himself, and confirm it with others.

An unskilled ordinary man (it seems) climbed onto a roof of a building, with the help of a ladder it seems, about 150metres from Trump, with a military assault rifle, was seen by people on the ground who warned the police for 3-4 minutes before he started shooting, and police snipers were aimed directly at him from another rooftop and neither they nor the police on the ground did nothing until he let off about three rounds.
  
  So many questions from this. Just so many. it beggars belief this could happen as it did.

      With Oswald’s second shot – if you make adjustments for the actual positions of JFK and Governor Connelly the entrance and exit wounds from the bullet on both men showed a trajectory straight back to Oswald’s snipers nest on the 6th floor of the TSBD (5th floor in NZ terms). Forget the Oliver Stone nonsense. Connelly was not directly in front of JFK – he was seated well in- board and lower than JFK and was turning around at the time of the shot. The actual hard evidence leaves no doubt that a single bullet from the TSBD caused the wounds on both men.

    If you’re going to be using your body as a protective shield then it helps to have a large body. Val Adams could do the job, but 99.9% of females have smaller bodies.
    
    Females are, generally, far weaker than men. Can they pick up/carry a 120k person?

        Yes, women can fire guns. Even competently.
        But shooting is the least of an SS agent’s work.
        
        From my understanding (which is limited I will acknowledge) SS agents have never fired their pistols in these situations.
        
        Their primary job is to physically protect the person by obstructing the potential path of bullets with their bodies and by effective driving using vehicles etc.
        
        Those cute, short blondes with pigtails are not effective at that task. What’s the point of a body blocker that doesn’t even cover his chest?
        
        The first female SS agent was the driver that drove Pres. Reagan to the hospital. By all accounts she was very good at that job (being a driver). But she never did the “get in the way of a bullet” thing.

      People tend to forget that to be even reasonably complete in this case we have to deal with the shooting of four men and the deaths of three.
      Kennedy and Connolly at about 12:3o, 63/11/22, Officer Tippett shot and killed at ~13:12, 63/11/22 and Oswald shot and killed at ~11:20, 63/11/24.
      Part of the problem here is conceptual, how big do you draw the frame? But with the interconnected shoots of 4 men in 2 days including a president a governor and a police officer and then the prime suspect himself. The simple plain English meaning of the terms can’t be “Oswald acting alone”. Nobody “acts alone” well maybe a mystic hermit living in a cave in the mountains acts alone but everyone else is interconnected, the question is co-ordination.
      I also think that the CIA was involved, you just have to be careful with what “involved” means.
      A former marine and soviet defector living in America with a Russia wife and one of the hottest times of the cold war? It is the CIA’s job to keep track of that sort of person and payments to him maybe through some spooky political front organization is perfectly possible even probable.
      I maybe one of only a small number of people who believe that Oswald didn’t act alone, that the CIA was involved AND ALSO that the Warren commission was broadly correct.

  All those lock downs would have reduced social interactions and the spread of all viruses – not just Covid. For example flu is one of the biggest single killers in the form of pnuemonia. There is a good reason pneumonia is called The Old Man’s Friend.
  
  The lockdown to reduce the spread of Covid almost certainly reduced other infections too. This means that a bunch of old frail people that would have been in the 2020 “death budget” were then just surplus deaths the next year.

The only thing I’ll say about conspiracy theories is that incidents like this fuel more conspiracy theories. In so far as recruiting someone to carry out the assassination of Donald Trump, or that person auditioning for the role….how does that work? The problem with conspiracy theories is the vast number of people you’d need to make them work, and the conversations that would need to take place with no leaks and no-one expressing horror and blowing the whistle. Does the ‘recruiter’ walk up to a 20 year old in Bunfutt, US and say “how’d you like to assassinate Trump”, and how do you know he’ll say “yes”. And surely the assassin knows he’ll either be killed outright during the assassination attempt, or face death in the aftermath. So how many people would be up for that? Obviously lone assassins acting alone have that mentality. But how do the plotters know that the 20 year old they are approaching has that exact mentality? How do you train and equip the assassin with no links back to yourselves, and how many people are now involved in plot? How do you recruit the number of people you need into the plot without worry that they’ll say “no” or run to superiors / media / other law enforcement agencies?
If the assassin approached the authorities to volunteer to assassinate Trump for them, that becomes an even more laughable scenario, for obvious reasons.
Now that ‘the plot’ has failed, isn’t it time for the ‘top plotters’ to clean house and remove all evidence of ‘the plot’ by eliminating all the ‘lower level plotters’? (How else could they ensure they will never talk.) So we should see lots of dead bodies start turning up, right?
And if you’ve left any trace of evidence of ‘the plot’, won’t investigating authorities find it? The more people involved, the larger the halo of evidence that is produced.

    Thanks for picking up on one part of my comment in isolation. You would still need a ‘they’ (group of plotters) and then need to be certain that your subtle ‘reinforcement of ideas’ will have them turning up at a certain rally on a certain date, and that the Police and Secret Service operatives are also ‘in on it’ so that they give the assassin the breathing space to succeed. (And the disturbed amateur failed).
    Many people are indeed willing to die for posthumous fame (infamy), including the lone shooters who carried out school shootings, mass shootings, and assassinations in the past. Often loners and losers.
    As regards the performance of local police and the DEI infected Secret Service, perhaps we should remember the adage ‘Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity (read: incompetence).’

      Incompetence? – Blind Betty could have spotted the shooter on the roof with a rifle…..And in fact he was spotted 3-4 minutes before he pulled the trigger 5 times.
      
      That is an extremely high level of incompetence IMO – which I do not buy.

  I feel so sorry for his parents. They’ve lost their son, and will have the further burden of forever being targeted as being somehow culpable by unthinking general public for their nut-job adult son’s actions.

Will we ever know the truth and the full story around the Trump attempted assassination? There are already hundreds of theories, claims and statements all purporting to be the real thing.

Some questions that need answers include why didn’t the drones pick up the shooter? Why was an obvious building for snipers not checked and under surveillance? Why were police on one building and not on another – both in the zone where snipers could operate? Is it true members of the public knew there was a sniper with a rifle climbing up a building, told the Secret Service who took no particular responsive action?

  Unlikely. The FBI have been operating as a branch of the DNC for the last 8 years. They are stridently woke and anti-Trump and have every motive to spin everything they find to the DNC’s benefit and against Trump. They know they are going to be put thorough massive re-structure with most likely fired if Trump wins.

Yet these “mouth breathing yokels” were reportedly able to spot, and warn of, an assassin 3-4 minutes before the highly trained experts in protection and law enforcement.

We were saved an actual assassination by centimetres. By Trump turning his head at the last second.

China’s debt of zillions …

China’s cities have run up trillions of dollars worth of off-the-books debt, says the “Wall Street Journal”.

Their total off-books debt is somewhere between $US7 trillion and $US11 trillion – about twice the Chinese Government’s total debt.

That’s about $NZ11.48 trillion to $NZ18 trillion, and we’ll assume the newspaper’s using the “short-scale” definition of “trillion” as 1,000 billion.

As much as $US800 billion ($NZ1.3 trillion) of this debt is regarded as at high risk of default.

“Local government financing vehicles” have allowed Chinese cities to sidestep borrowing limits.

That tweet was removed yesterday.
On my Sky box I can get BBC on channel 89. I can no longer get RTV on channel 92. I am beginning to think that Russian Tv has a better credibility rating than does the BBC. That, despite their all pervasive Russian propaganda.
43 years ago I attended two sporting events that made the BBC world service radio news. At that time I was complimentary of their coverage, particularly compared to our TVNZ coverage of those two days.

  I think anyone with current familiarity with severely degraded pedagogy practices in primary and secondary education systems would be unsurprised. A near complete absence of focus and discipline in teaching, and a pathological aversion to anything even hinting at being confronting or discomforting to students or teachers.

Damn. Just got surveyed on St John looking at increasing their fees. Ambulance call outs up to $350. Sorry St John, but that will lead to people not calling for help when they need it, especially elderly living off the govt pension.
