  Mayor Whanau has requested adjustments to her mayoral timetable so her attendance at meetings is shorter and there is time to rest in the afternoon. Presume it is at her request, don’t know.
  
  All good, as she now has a diagnosed disability of some sort so anything less is discrimination.

  In the interest of research I looked through Tory’s Instagram page. She is convinced what is happening in Gaza is genocide and Wellington now has a Palestinian sister city. She is all in on trans, marching at the front of a trans march and hugging a person with green hair. She is all in on Maori wards. Her budget is about cycle ways and green energy. Her immediate family appears to be her dog.

I can’t remember what interview it was but when it came out that she renewed her Green membership she categorically said she would stand at the next election. I don’t mean to lessen or trivialize the challenges that cancer fighters and patients go through. My thoughts are with them…

But what’s with the flood of cancer stories of the “this drug is not funded” or “have to travel overseas for treatment” by the NZ Herald….

Maybe they should have spent an extra $50 million on cancer treatment than on singing and dancing….

        Israel could have ended the War in days by flattening Gaza but didnt.

    Those babies are dead because their parents and uncles and aunts voted in a regime that hates their neighbor.
    
    Some of those same parents, uncles, brothers invaded another country and murdered people, gang raped women, and abducted citizens.
    
    They still hold some of those citizens. After months of calls to release those hostages, after initial military action showing their intent to search for those hostages, the parents, uncles, aunts and brothers of those babies refused to do so.
    
    So imagine if the Killer Beez came to your house, raped your partner and abducted your daughter. Would your response be
    a) that’s ok, the killer beez can keep my child because i don’t want any of the killer beez to be hurt looking for her. Or
    b) please get my child back, do whatever it takes.

      By changing the market index to the new MSCI ESG Screened indices, there will now be a layer of ESG screening applied to your investments along with a target to reduce its relative carbon emissions.
      
      I’ve led in with a question about the relative long term returns from that index vs the one they changed from, but I’m thinking of asking them why they support Putin, because making Northrup Grummond weaker by not investing in them makes Putin stronger since he doesn’t buy his gear from them.

    I have read stories of the evolution of mankind which say our brains became larger when we discovered making meat part of our diet (making fire and being able to cook it I presume).
    So it therefore follows to my kind of logic that not eating meat would have the reverse effect.

Most comments, the media but I hope not the actual investigation are concentrating on the Manurewa Marae and the election. It is a much wider matter. The whole Waipareira empire appears to have consistently broken a number of laws. It has all the hallmarks of corruption, massively. And involves the whole Maori Party. Its caucus room might have to be relocated to Paremoremo.

  The use of census data is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of what went on at Manurewa Marae. If we care about corruption, we must ensure that this issue is not used to cloud over the many other abuses of process that occurred.
  
  The mainstream or legacy media is doing exactly that. They are using big headlines in reference to the census information, while equally serious allegations that the Ministry of Social Development paid for the the local candidate’s election campaign received only one line.
  
  This allegation, which apparently involves just as many (or even more people) and relates to what could actually be the stealing of payments meant to go to beneficiaries is being deliberately downplayed by our corrupt legacy media.
  
  We the people, commenters here and also the writers on blogs like this, must push the MSD money aspect to the fore. IMHO It involves a much higher degree of dishonesty and potential criminality than the misuse of the census data, and that is why the MSM is downplaying it.

    BY – I agree the author is misinterpreting the study. Then you do the same with the article you reference.
    
    Your inference that increased greenhouse gas emissions are causing loss of cloud cover is only a suggestion in the article you have posted. Not a definitive proof.
    
    So, lots of research being done, observations being made and hypothesis being postulated. But still not the definitive answer you are suggesting.

    Whether the analysis and interpretation of the new satellite data by Fournier is correct is a good question.
    
    The theory put forward in the Yale report is inconclusive, as reported by the authors. (Scientists say.. is a giveaway.)

  Why would cloud cover decrease in response to warming? Which inevitably puts more water vapour in the atmosphere. That runs counter to basic thermodynamics and physics and fairly solid rule relating to perturbing equilibriums, Le Chatelier’s Principle:
  
  “If the equilibrium of a system is disturbed by a change in one or more of the determining factors (as temperature, pressure, or concentration) the system tends to adjust itself to a new equilibrium by counteracting as far as possible the effect of the change”

Have you ever taken the time to consider what effect vaccine mandates have had on our institutions? This is not a question of where you stand on the Covid medical treatments, but a question of the psychological and structural impacts to our institutions due to the staff they lost to mandates. The type of people that have been removed from our institutions are those who had the courage of conviction to not just go along with the herd to the extent they were prepared to lose their jobs. These were strong willed people, thinkers, people with backbones and moral conviction. Their removal from medicine, teaching, police, other public service institutions leaves a more compliant, malleable workforce behind. The type of workforce that can be more readily pushed and cajoled to do its leaders bidding.

I know that trolls will dehumanise the people that were pushed out as anti-vax nutters. The world will be a safer place in their mind with these dangerous vermin removed from herd. Good riddance to the river of filth.

But what do the other good people of KB think? Has removing these people from our institutions created a more readily malleable workforce to be exploited and used to inflict some other great evil in the future?

  There are a number a teachers in our whanau and as anyone knows who has worked with a bunch of people a disruptive colleague can piss everyone off.
  One of my nieces who is a teacher worked in a staff room with just such a person who got on with nobody and it was to no one’s surprise they refused to get vaccinated and had to leave.
  After a period of time the mandates were removed and this particular teacher asked for their job back, but dipped out
  I’ve worked in offices where people have had all sorts of strong views about things, but know when to people don’t want t listen.

  The medical regulator made it very clear that if we did not positively signal and act-out support of the vaccine mandates we would not only be denied a renewal of our practising certificate, we would be brought before the Disciplinary Tribunal.
  
  That process is a punishment all in itself, because when you lose (as you will when you go against Medical Council policy) you have to pay their costs as well as your own.
  
  If anybody wants to get back into the good graces of the Medical Council, you currently have to agree to a patient-by-patient observation of your practice, practising in the continuous presence of another doctor – who of course will be reporting back to the Council and for whose attendance in your practice you have to pay. Five figures minimum.
  
  I don’t know anybody who left under threat who wants to resume practice or who has resumed practice. At my age and having been out of country now quite a while, my circle of ex-NZ medical contemporaries is no longer large, but I still know personally of five who quit to retire (quite early) and three who emigrated.
  
  I don’t hold any hope that the new government will provide any sort of incentive or pressure to get the Medical Council to get back in line with natural justice and (however late) abide by the Nuremberg Protocols and the Geneva Conventions and the principles of Informed Consent and Bodily Autonomy and ‘First, Do No Harm’.
  
  That will never happen because everybody in positions of medical, ministry and parliamentary authority would need to recant their cultlike Covid-vax-faith.

    Well said Keith, you would think that there would be a route through the public courts to remedy this but I don’t believe the judiciary are willing to step out of line, as in do their actual job!
    You would also think that our, supposedly top, human rights lawyers would be in boots and all to make good these draconian attacks on our freedom. Palmer, Chen, Hodge, etc all very silent unless you want them to review a treaty grievance. They were like covidian cicadas, burying themselves safely out of harms way until the comforting warmth of a public funded gravy train pulled out of the station.

The lotteries commission sold 1.7m tickets on Wednesday, at an average of $20 each that is $34m of sales. They have since increase the prize by $7m. A net $27m of earnings.

Tonight’s draw is expected to result in 2M tickets sold, so $40m of sales and none of this to be added to the prize pool.

I remember when

Bigotry Against Anglicans:
Is this increasingly the way that decisions are being made now – by small pressure groups, often in areas little reported in the media.
By the time that the general public become aware of the outcome it is often too late to alter it.
The decisions made by Councils to introduce Maori wards are a prime example of this approach.
While it is possible to use the Treaty to justify these decisions, they ignore the fact that there is frequently already sufficient Maori representation.
Is also opens the door to calls for the possibility for representation for gender, religious groups or other minorities.
In 1840 there was a justification for decision making by British/Maori governments or boards.
Now the need is largely guilt or past wrongs based.

In an interview with Guyon Espiner, Waikato-Tainui leader Tukoroirangi Morgan criticized ACT Party leader David Seymour as a “political idiot” for his Treaty Principles Bill, which aims to revise interpretations of the Treaty of Waitangi and limit Māori co-governance. Morgan argues this would invalidate the 1840 treaty agreement. Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has indicated the government will not support the bill beyond the select committee stage but hasn’t completely ruled it out. Morgan warned of unprecedented protests if the bill progresses, emphasizing Waikato-Tainui’s economic power and commitment to protecting their interests. He also highlighted the need for Māori to re-engage with the Māori electoral roll to increase political representation, noting that Māori representation in Parliament is nearly 27% due to MMP. Morgan encouraged young Māori to take political action to ensure their voices are heard.

No, it would NOT make any signing a nullity – it would make later activist interpretations of the Treaty and that signing, a nullity

If the bill did go beyond a first reading, Morgan says the resulting protest action would be at a level “never seen in the history of this country before”.
“There are those of us who … will not sit still and remain idle,” he says.
“If this bill is passed, and it goes beyond the first reading, there’ll be hell to play, simple as that.”

Such inferred violence would be based on the nullity of activist interpretations of the Treaty, not any supposed cancelling of the Treaty, and thus the reality of violence would be based on something that is a reality, but only in the minds of the activists.
That is the same problem Tarrant has.

  Yet another illustration of why it is so i mportant that the true ‘Treaty in English’ be exposed. If the Littlewood draft were to be acknowledged for what it is, the Treaty industry would collapse.
  Isn’t it interesting that when the Littlewood document was found, it was historians who had been writing extensively about the MAori myths on the Treaty and the Maori Affairs/Maori Development Department that provided advice to the Government ofd the day. Of course that advice was ‘Littlewood is fake’ – to say otherwise would destroy a good rort.

      Actually, in my opinion Māori are both Tangata Tiriti and Tangata Whenua – without the power of that Treaty there was no NZ. By that signing they became citizens of Queen Victoria along with the rest of us – equals under the crown.
      
      All NZers are people of this land, but some have deeper connections than others to places other than NZ. We should not reflect on our ancestry with rose tinted lenses – there are things to be both proud of and ashamed.
      
      I am happy to be known by the inclusive term New Zealander.
      
      I don’t subscribe to a Te Ao Māori world view and spirituality. I think if we could glimpse this world through a God lense, we would see that we are all children of God, that this world is temporal and our citizenship in the eternal world that comes next is the most important. That what we do now is fleeting and storing up treasures here is ultimately futile.
      
      Let’s refuse to be divided and manipulated into fractions and groups. Stay united as the human race!

    It is clear that she is extremely biased to the extent that quite possibly hatred is accurate.
    
    A top, professional, journalist should capable of reporting on all angles and leaving the opinion forming to the audience. Being unable to park their own personal views rules them out from being at the top of their profession.
    
    The occasional good piece of journalism doesn’t make up for the ongoing bias and lack of professionalism. This criticism can be levelled at most high profile journalists in NZ today. If they want to be in PR they should apply for those sorts of jobs.

Open justice is part of the principles of justice but is not delivered evenly and the reporting decision appears to be Racist. Yesterday an 80+ year old white man was named in the paper for money laundering. His photo of his face with his head hung in shame.

Today we find the name of a violent repeat shop raider involved in multiple offences with groups of armed gangs of youths. His photo is not shown. Although media pat themselves on the back for their disclosure.

    The FBI agent, Erika Jensen, testified that the FBI had no evidence that the laptop had been tampered with. She also had no evidence that it hadn’t been tampered with. Basically her testimony was that the FBI could not say with any certainty what the provenance of the laptop was.
    
    Which is common sense, because the chain of custody of that laptop is a complete disaster, which largely renders it useless in any court of law.
    
    And I’d expect that if the laptop were to be used in a court then Hunter Biden’s legal team would call Lev Parnas as a witness to testify to the connections to Russian intelligence.
    
    As for the rest of your hopped-up dreams … I expect:

    * It’s possible Willis could decide to prosecute some of the other conspirators pre-election, separating them from Trump’s prosecution which would be delayed (there’s no legal need to prosecute them all together in the same trial)
    * Hunter Biden will be found guilty (from the public evidence it seems clear he is guilty) but the sentence will be light (given the mild charges) and Joe Biden will not pardon him
    * But don’t discount that Hunter is actually a very good lawyer and has a good legal team, so maybe he’s got some great legal strategy … let’s wait and see.
    
    I also don’t see either of the Federal cases coming to trial before the election.
    
    Of the four court cases Trump was facing the NY one was seen as the weakest, but it’s likely that will be the only one that is concluded pre-election.

        Qu 1 for the prosecution: Do you have hard evidence that Hunter Biden dropped this laptop off at the repair store? (No, they don’t)
        Qu 2: Do you have hard evidence that Hunter Biden was even in Delaware on [date]? (No, they don’t)
        Qu 3: Can you guarantee that this laptop was not altered in any way? (No, they can’t)
        Qu 4: Can you guarantee that all of the content on this laptop was created or produced by Hunter Biden, and was not inserted by other as-yet-unknown people? (No, they can’t)
        
        I can go on, but those 4 questions alone torpedo any reliance on the laptop in a court of law.

    This is all about a Facebook post by a “Michael Anderson”.
    
    Michael Anderson made a Facebook post on 29th May saying “My cousin is a juror and says Trump is getting convicted. Thank you folks for your hard work!!!”. Trump’s conviction was announced on the 30th of May.
    
    Problem 1: Michael Anderson also made basically the same post on 20th May.
    Problem 2: Michael Anderson’s bio says they are “Transabled and a professional shit poster”. (Sounds like just your kind of guy?)
    Problem 3: Once this whole thing blew up in right-wing media circles Michael Anderson posted “Take it easy … I’m a professional shitposter”.
    
    Common sense:
    * Anyone can write anything as a Facebook comment.
    * People do indeed write all sorts of crap/lies as Facebook comments
    * When someone describes themselves as “a professional shit poster” then sensible people should be highly sceptical of anything they say, absent hard proof that it’s true.

  Cricket is a team game based on individual performances.
  All these players knew they were going to an international tournament.
  What did they do?

    A lot of NASA’s problems are right there in its name A: administration.
    
    It is an administration, run by administrators for the benefit of administrators.
    
    Another reason was that there was never a really good reason to go to the moon other than the political “space race” to show the Americans were technologically superior to the USSR.
    
    Once that was “proven”, nobody cared any more.
    
    That can be witnessed in the viewership that built up to Apollo 11: the big event.
    Apollo 12 had low viewership/interest from the public – as did Apollo 13 until the problems made it a sensation.
    By Apollo 15 people were rally asking what the point was anymore.
    
    It just got very very boring and there was no real science happening.
    
    The real interesting stuff in space is closer to home – in satellite orbit. That’s where we actually get benefit from space. Almost all that can be done with robotics – no need to send sacks of meat into space.

I was reading a news item about a family who had lost their house completely in a fire while they were at a medical appointment with their newborn (and third) child. It’s a very sad story for sure and people have been donating to one of those Givealittle pages.
Reading right to the end, there’s that same old story…”they were not insured”. When does one’s sympathy run out?
