        I can’t understand why they keep reporting he has had clear tests since Saturday, why is he hiding, you maybe right, they same as when he was supposed to be sick not so long ago, snd his daughters illness, turns out he was at other places to where he stated he was, he also appears to be at home one of the days in hiding, but was clearly at a hotel yesterday, or Sunday

A possible concern could be that some mRNA-based vaccine platforms induce potent type I interferon responses, which have been associated not only with inflammation but also potentially with autoimmunity. ”
  
  So they knew about the potential side effects of the mRNA technology used for Covid as enumerated above ie the systemic inflammation, the extensive biodistribution, the persistence of the coded mRNA, the auto-immunity, the potential for the toxicity of pseudouridine and the nanoparticles and the potent interferon responses. Every one of these mechanisms for the severity of the side effects seen has been identified by researchers since the roll out of the mRNA “vaccine”.

  In 2018 Drew Weissman warned that prior clinical trials of mRNA vaccines had produced results which were “more modest in humans than was expected based on animal models… and the side effects were not trivial”, including “moderate and in rare cases severe injection site or systemic reactions”.
  
  In the same paper: –
  
  “A possible concern could be that some mRNA-based vaccine platforms induce potent type I interferon responses, which have been associated not only with inflammation but also potentially with autoimmunity,” they wrote. “Thus, identification of individuals at an increased risk of autoimmune reactions before mRNA vaccination may allow reasonable precautions to be taken.”
  
  Of course he missed myocardial damage (which @virtualmark insists is fiction – lol lol), downregulation of the p53 cancer suppression gene, and spike protein crossing the blood:brain barrier.
  
  Anyone remember being advised of these risks as part of your right to informed consent?

    First, I don’t think myocardial damage is a fiction. Pfizer were clear back in 2020 that the vaccines would lead to myocarditis in a small number of people, mainly young men. Expected incidence was about 25 people across a population the size of NZ’s.
    
    But that risk of myocarditis is because Covid infection often causes myocarditis, and the vaccine is just a weak mimic of a real infection. The risk from the vaccine is more than an order of magnitude lower than the risk from actual infection.
    
    But you don’t have any sense of proportion …
    
    Also, the 2018 paper surely relates to the state-of-the-art prior to 2018. My understanding is that Biontech and Moderna only really nailed the last bits of the mRNA technology in 2019 which made mRNA vaccines viable. It’s quite likely that what were clearly known problems in 2018 were resolved after that.
    
    But sure, you know more than the Nobel Prize judging committee. Muppet.

      BTW, you didn’t respond to my comment referencing a study that showed all vax recipients experiencing some from of myocardial damage.. yet you claim only 5 per million based on Pfizer’s data.
      
      Oh, and then you hilariously try to assert that I claimed the Nobel committee made a mistake…. when I did no such thing. Getting ready to bring out “far right”, “qAnon” soon? You’re running out of vituperations, vm.

      The risk benefit of the MRNA technology is by their own admission not as good for humans as for animal studies.
      Trump and others panic rushing a solution to WuHan Flu was not optimal. Accelerating medical solutions using unproven safe or effective was at best unwise or at worst evil.
      
      Either way the consequences of a rushed response had 3 outcomes.
      1) People that had side effects injuries or deaths were sacrificed unecessairly.
      2) People now distrust media, govt and medical authorities for outright lies. Trust is fragile.
      3) Divisions in society heightened.
      
      There are more systemic problems now than a human created pandemic. The cure was worse than the disease.

So, in a nutshell, the public sector policies of National and ACT don’t add up. There’s also no economic crisis to justify it – sure, taxpayers should get value for money from the investment in the services they need. But our economy has got through Covid, there is no recession, inflation is falling, unemployment remains low, and our international credit rating is holding up.

And just how well will this claim by the national secretary of the Public Service Association, Kerry Davies, going to age, particularly in light of yesterday’s NZIER Board reporting that they expect interest rates to rise further?

    Whether it’s free diabetes monitors for under 18s, guaranteed 3 days in hospital for mothers after giving birth, or any of the many quite sensible policies they’re campaigning on, the MSM always give Chippie a free hit and report THAT as the news.
    
    Labour’s entire campaign is based on “National, ACT and NZ First will be a coalition of chaos” and rubbishing National’s and ACT’s policies. Nothing positive, nothing new, not an original thought between them. i think they saw so many idiots in the US vote for “anyone but Trump” that they think it might work here. It won’t.

They must be creaming it now with only a brief 15 minutes per consultation and they don’t even bother to check vitals or be able to refer a patient to a specialist without some other diversion. Maybe there’s a sea running, I can’t see Cooks Straight, but I wonder whether it’s not more about Kiwiboat worrying about how they rescue people if the ship breaks down. Could be they’ll be a fine weather only service before long.

        I learned about covid late Jan 2020 and was warning everyone to prepare, bought several months storable food and medicines, and started telling everyone we needed to quarantine NZ immediately so that it wouldn’t get a foot hold (we still didn’t have clear picture of how lethal it was).
        
        It took Labour two months from that point to finally get around to doing quarrantine+lockdown, well after covid had taken hold in NZ and with 1000’s of local cases and several months of ruinously expensive lockdowns required to eliminate it as a result. And even then they only did it because they were threatened with ad campaigns by a group of high-net-worth NZers.
        
        They were stupidly and incredibly expensively late to do what was obviously needed two months earlier. Typically useless incompetence as we have become accustomed to with Labour

        We didn’t know what the CFR and IFR were for several months. We saw catastrophic health crises in Italy and New York with hospitals severely overwhelmed, and what little info that was coming out of Wuhan being similarly worrying. We knew NZs hospital capacity was near worst in OECD.
        
        Pathogens always evolve for maximum transmissibility, and generally over time that means they lose lethality as they prioritise mutations that improve transmission. Early 2020 covid variants more lethal than later. If we had let-er-rip though NZ in 2020 we would have lost about 5-10,000 (1-2000 per million was typical pre vaccine), and still had hugely disrupted country as dreadfully inadequate hospitals were overwhelmed by sick elderly and govt mucked around with mitigation measures closing work and schools etc. So elimination probably was cheapest option for NZ in first half 2020 until clarity over dangers was established.
        
        By mid 2020 I thought we should isolate vulnerable and let it rip through healthy young people using variolation (deliberate tiny dose that gives immune response more time to build up before viral load hits peak). Initial age-stratified estimates on IFR and R0 suggested we could have isolated most vulnerable and deliberately infected healthiest/youngest 60-70% of population in stages over a couple of months to achieve near herd-immunity for loss of only a few hundred lives, and then opened NZ up again. A slightly more structured and scientific variation on what Sweden did.

    Strongly disagree. Bob Jones, who financially bailed Labour out because he thought the country needed them did NZ a great disservice. Just like the Ski fields being bailed out by the government, if a business is viable it will survive, if not let it fail and another will take its place.
    
    By bailing out Labour, Bob kept alive a failed organisation which the country was unfortunately then forced to endure. If Bob had not bailed out Labour (and also had not supported NZF) we may not have had a bunch incompetent boobs in charge these last 6 years. If Labour is allowed to fail it will surely be replaced by a party that is fit for purpose, one which can provide a viable alternative. The greens (NZF, TPM etc) are not such a party, but perhaps could become so if the opportunity is presented. Likely it would be some entirely new entity.
    
    So yes, we need choice and viable opposition parties but we should let the market decide who they are, not simply prop up existing failed parties for fear of life without them.

  I suspect Bob Jones will be right, and that it may even go lower, as Labour voters either vote Green, or not at all. That can only be the reason why the Greens are polling so high (those being polled have to give some answer to the pollster), but I expect on election day Labour’s numbers will be down on what the polls are currently telling us.
  
  ACT on the other hand are doing it hard as National have a strong campaign. If Seymour had been a bit smarter and been more accomodating to those questioning the narrative fed to us during the pandemic, he would be hoovering up way more votes. As it stands I predict that ACT is not going to be that much different than NZ First on election day, as those currently saying they’ll vote for any of the <5% parties realise their votes will be wasted, and go for NZ First. And there's potentially another 5-8% there.

  The difficulty for the NZ labour party is that since the Helen Clark years they haven’t actually been Labour. In other words, they haven’t actually represented the interests and values of the working class man.
  
  Since the Helen Clarke years things have only got more out of touch. Labour is dominated by middle class, university educated elites who have never done a day’s manual work in their lives.
  
  The thing today’s Labour Party cares about are not what the average working man cares about.
  For example, the economy is terrible, inflation is rising and ordinary families are struggling to pay the bills and put food on the table.
  
  In response what does Chris Hipkins announce? He announces Labour’s rainbow policies, relentlessly advocating for all things homosexual and transgender.
  
  How do you think that plays among the traditionally Labour supporting, church going, Pacific islanders of South Auckland?

  Survey after survey shows the public is open to significant reform of taxes, including introducing capital gains and particularly wealth taxes.

  Reading that, I noticed the headline of an earlier article by him on the general state of play in New Zealand politics, looking at the feelings in the general population that are of great concern. It’s the best analysis that I have seen so far, and may well be validated by the election results.

  From my own discussions with friends, acquaintances, family, etc, a huge number of people are finding it extremely difficult to decide who to vote for. My eldest son has been a staunch Labour supporter for many years, but won’t have a bar of them or Greens this year. So I’m picking a record low turnout.
  
  In the process, my own feeling is that there’s a very strong chance of a hung parliament, with neither Labour/Greens/TPM nor NAct being able to crack 60 seats (of course, any overhangs might distort this). In which case, Winston will definitely be king-maker. Because of his antipathy to David Seymour, I have strong reservations that he’ll side with National. But I can’t see him wanting to share power with TPM. What’s the betting that he would agree to go with Labour, providing that they ditch TPM?

  There wont be another US bank system crash in the near future. There will be some failed banks (as has already happendd) but the system will not crash.
  
  The losses you point to are 10yr bonds which are currently pretty worthless because interest rates have risen so high so fast. So long as the banks remain liquid they can hold these and unload them when rates stabilise or drop. IF things look to go bad the US govt / treasury will rapidly drop interest rates, returning value to the bonds and making them profitable. That would stuff fighting inflation and hurt the economy long term but the govt would do it to avoid a collapse.
  
  All that said. I would be looking at China for the next big crash. The fact we know they have issues, when they are very careful to hide data and save face, means that things are likely a hell of a lot worse then we know. If things start to go bad in China look to a possible invasion of Taiwan.

I’m extremely disappointed to see Labour falsely claiming that I have “pulled out” of the Stuff Press debate scheduled for tomorrow evening.

To be clear, I have not pulled out of the debate – the debate isn’t going ahead because Chris Hipkins has Covid and rescheduling during the last week of the campaign has proven impossible.

Claims that I have pulled out are just more misinformation being spread by Labour, because they have nothing positive to say about themselves and have no positive plans for New Zealand.

Labour have no track record to run on, so again, they are resorting to desperate smears. Kiwis deserve better.

I’ve already debated Chris Hipkins twice and I look forward to debating him again in the final debate on TVNZ next Thursday night.

This morning Chris Bishop offered for Nicola Willis to debate Kelvin Davis – Deputy v Deputy – instead. Labour has not even bothered to respond to that and I think we all know why. They have a weak team, whereas National has a strong team.

In the meantime, I’m looking forward to spending the final two weeks of the campaign meeting Kiwis, and telling them how a change to a National Government will rebuild the economy, drive down the cost of living, restore law and order, improve education and healthcare, and deliver tax relief.

        Viewership for debates is miniscule, they are structured for reality TV style drama and conflict rather than information/content and sadly gamed by organisers (left wing MSM) to fit their agenda in terms of stacking audiences and questioning. Even political tragics find them frustrating and annoying and quickly turn them off.

The MoE intend to implement in August 2024 a new regulation that requires a ‘person responsible’ at each centre must at all times hold a category one or two practising certificate.

“While this surprise new clause was discussed at the sector’s regular ECAC meeting,” says Cathy Wilson CE Montessori Aotearoa, we now know the data being relied upon by the Ministry is incorrect.”

“The Ministry has assumed that around 99% of current ECE trained teachers hold a category one or two practising certificate, when in fact it’s only around 80%. That would put significant stress on some providers and potentially cause further closures,” says Mrs Wilson.

  I’m told by people in my “home” electorate, that the incumbent is invisible and only ventures out surrounded with four or five big-sized bully boys, as was the case when she allegedly attended a home improvement show at the local Splash centre. Not much of a splash, apparently she was just a drip.
  
  But this is the same woman who claimed during the parliamentary protests and afterwards that “protesters have been waiting at the doors of Parliament at night, and are telling politicians they will be ‘lynched, hung or kidnapped’.” Sure, Steph, sure. Lucky you were not ram-raided and a nasty letter for you, amirite?
  
  To be fair to the National and ACT candidates, they are reported as doing the old-fashioned small-meetings and doorknocking circuit.

How does Porirua have the second most expensive rent prices in NZ? Supply and demand, I know. But also, Porirua residents must have a low average wage. It seems to me, the poorer one is, the more they pay for everything.

  It’s because of socialism. Porirua has very high numbers of social housing and poorer households reliant on taxpayer handouts.
  
  The govt does not pay any council rates on its social housing. This means that private homes have to pay excessively high rates to cover this shortfall. Result – artificially high private rents.
  
  The second contributor is the accomodation supplement. The more poor people you have in an area, the more accomodation supplement flows in, driving rents up higher than the market could support naturally.
  
  What we are experiencing is essentially the failure of Keynesian/socialist demand side economics. If you give people an ever increasing supply of money to purchase things, the price of those things increase! AKA inflation! It seems totally absurd, I know, but this is the actual economic paradigm that our govt is operating under. Same thing when give people $200k of taxpayers money through Kianga Ora to buy houses…guess what. Prices increase! Most of the people receiving these $200k handouts will live in areas such as Porirua.

So just up at Glenfield Mall and there is a voting center. Inside a dottery old woman wearing a red rosette. So I went to take a photo and was blocked. “no photos allowed sir.” so, “stop me.’ “no photos allowed sir” “so come and stop me” “I will call security”

“well big guy you know they can’t touch me. Why not call the Police? While the Police are here they can arrest the woman with the rosette.”
“rosettes are allowed sir”

Well it seems he is right, rosettes are allowed but I can not take a photo of her. She was NOT voting, she was advertising – which is illegal.
I am going back tomorrow with a blue everything and rosette. Also a blue MAGA hat, put a sticker over America and write New Zealand. Make New Zealand Great Again!

We will see how that leftie prick acts then. Don’t fuck with me!

  Yes, rosettes are allowed and are usually worn by Party scrutineers. Photos are not allowed without permission from the official in charge, for obvious reasons.
  
  I once had a man get very grumpy about my rosette when I was scrutineering. I thought it was sad he had so little knowledge of the process.

Off to vote this morning Made special effort to get our votes in the city to get Nats in…. 8 people staff there not prepared for “special vote people.” or any other person. Only us and another there. How much do they get paid? Anyway delighted to find the National vote side by side on the form. YES If that doesn’t generate votes we might as well give up.

  Its the first day and for many election workers, it will be their first time, especially after training.
  As they get more familiar with the process, it will get smoother.
  Special Votes are a bit a mare, its just the process.

Political Roundup: Ten reasons Labour’s support has halved, says Bryce Edwards

I clicked on it expecting to see a bunch of mealy-mouthed excuses – those nasty Nats and ACT keep telling lies about Labour, wah it’s so unfair – but found instead some pretty honest home-truths, with some biting commentary from all quarters.

1) Labour’s handling of Covid

Labour’s Covid story is now seen by many as negative rather than positive, and the Government is barely mentioning it in its re-election campaign. As Stuff political editor Luke Malpass has reported, “Voters just don’t seem to want to hear about it any more. They don’t want the Government crowing about how good it was – because it doesn’t feel that way now. And all the privations and disruption seem best forgotten.”

2) Failure to deliver the promised transformation, or even the basics

Labour’s flagship KiwiBuild programme, with its promise of 100,000 affordable new houses, still exists but has become something of a joke. Auckland’s Light Rail project was supposed to be complete by 2021, but hasn’t even begun, typifying Labour’s general weakness on infrastructure.

Unsurprisingly, Labour is not running its election campaign based on what it has achieved … As TVNZ’s Jack Tame says: “what good are new promises if a government didn’t deliver on its previous ones?”

6) Perception that Labour is arrogant and out-of-touch

Winning 50 per cent of the vote in 2020 was both a blessing and a curse for Labour … Labour ministers felt they could implement unsignalled projects – from Three Waters to a social insurance scheme – without the pressure to take the public along with them.

8) Labour’s focus on woke politics instead of working class politics

Under Jacinda Ardern’s leadership, Labour morphed more into a more middle-class-orientated party than ever before. Instead of focusing on the issues that working class voters care most about – such as living standards and public services, Labour became more associated with social issues, gender, ethnicity, and what some call “woke” politics. Social justice rather than economic justice became the characteristic of this Labour Government.

And now we get to the real meat – the treaty and co-governance.

9) Labour’s radical reinterpretation of the Treaty

Labour’s most radical and unpopular agenda during the last three years has been its adoption of co-governance in public services and especially the Three Waters reforms. The Treaty of Waitangi has been radically reinterpreted, and new bi-cultural governance policies have been advanced as a result, which have been perceived as separatist.

Chris Trotter has recently explained how Three Waters prevailed within the Government: “The Māori Caucus wanted it because iwi leaders wanted it, and if they didn’t get it, they might start knocking on Te Pāti Māori’s door. No one else in the Labour caucus proper felt strongly enough about the issue to organise any kind of serious resistance. So, Hipkins allowed Three Waters to be tweaked and re-named, and hoped that the public would be satisfied with a ludicrous name change. They weren’t.”

Very little of this approach has been debated or communicated with the public, leading to suspicions that it’s being implemented by fiat in an elitist and undemocratic way because the public won’t agree with it. And ultimately the public hasn’t felt convinced by it all.

There’s a lot more, and it’s not pay-walled. Get in and read it before somebody realises their mistake and it “disappears”.

  The journalists pushing for wealth taxes and the members of the public in favour of them do not have a clue how much poorer this policy would make NZ. The capital flight would be instant and catastrophic and it does not tend to be the wealthy who suffer from major economic upheaval.

  10 months home detention is equal to about 20 months in prison. In the UK a glassing in a pub starts at 4 years. Prison is intended to not only punish but to deter others. This sends a message that an unprovoked attack on a defenceless person using a bladed weapon and then fleeing the scene is not terribly serious. So that should really deter gang members who are about their business

Bryce Edwards article is brilliant and covers every aspect of this incompetent divisive government. As a fairly neutral commentator it is a thunderbolt at the arrogant heart of the Labour Party. After this election it should change its name as to continue with it is an insult to the likes of Savage, Fraser and Big Norm. I am pleasantly surprised it’s not pay walled maybe the Herald has seen the writing on the wall. This should be compulsory reading for all Labour MPs and Party members. Have sent to my useless Labour MP suggest all KBs do the same. Can read it while in the unemployable line.

  When I was buying cars in Japan, before computerized records, the dealers, all who were Caucasian, 2 are now City Councilors, requested Odometer changes. I would put a sticky note on the windscreen with the ‘new’ Odometer reading.
  One Bighorn was tricky, a Bicycle spoke fixed that.

        the nationwide mail-out of 3.4 million EasyVote packs is a large and complex operation. As in previous elections, it is not unusual for packs to arrive after voting starts. We send them to larger rural electorates first, and then urban electorates, which are closer to the processing centres so will take a shorter time to deliver.
        
        We expect those who haven’t already received their packs to get them in the coming days. You don’t need an EasyVote card to vote, so if you haven’t received your pack and would like to vote now, you can do so.

  It is just awful. But so predictable. To put that number into context, the cost of the Christchurch Convention Centre was $450 million. That is a state of the art modern building which can be configured to a variety of uses.
  
  The Council is now facing the “fallacy of sunk costs” – ‘we now have no choice but to keep going’. Nope. The smart thing to do now would be to stop and demolish it. (Well the smart thing would have to never started this thing, but you get what I mean.)

  A new poll out tonight from Whakaata Māori shows Maipi-Clarke is just 4% points below Mahuta in the race for Hauraki Waikato.

  Since 1999, Mahuta has stood and won in various Māori electorates and has been the MP for Hauraki Waikato since the seat was created.
  
  In the Whakaata Māori poll, conducted by Curia Market Research, Mahuta polled at 36% with Maipi-Clarke just behind, at 32%.
  
  Curia polled 500 Hauraki-Waikato voters, and reported its results with a 4.4% margin of error.’
