I would suggest Winston Peter’s and New Zealand First neutralized Labours promise of free detal care for those under Thirty that will take affect in 2025.
This will cause more damage to Labour than any other party as a inquiry and compensation for those that lost their jobs over the Covid-19 Pandemic and the Labour Parties mandate what many Left leaning voters want and compensation will be enticing.

I would hope that no centre right voter would be enticed to vote New Zealand First after 2017, so remember a vote for Labour , The Green’s, NZ First and the Maori Party is a vote for corruption, wasteful spending and racial division that could devide New Zealander’s for years to come.

    Normally one change of minister is tolerable and somewhat expected over a governments full time in power. Once per term is a bit much buts still somewhat ok.

  Green immigration spokesperson Ricardo Menendez-March said INZ had seen huge staff turnover, was under-resourced and needed better funding to “give integrity to the accreditation system”.
  
  Bloody Socialists. Their only response to problems is “more funding”
  
  It’s clear that the following should happen:
  1. A clear directive that proper assessment is required. Starting yesterday.
  2. a short sharp investigation to find out where this directive came from
  3. Start termination procedures for some of the middle and or senior managers involved. If the investigation is meet with uncooperative people, start termination procedures on them all. That’ll start some birds singing.
  
  If there is a throughput issue, get staff from other departments. Ministry for Women, Ethnic Affairs etc.

  Having had first hand experience of INZ, I am not at all surprised by this article. INZ processing is the most dysfunctional working environment I have witnessed. The much heralded ADEPT system (known affectionately as INEPT) and the pressures to get numbers through have resulted in a process which has lost all integrity. Rewards for pushing through numbers of approvals (such as time off work), officers decisions being overruled despite the Immigration Act 2009 stating that a warranted officers decision is final, management reciting karakia whilst the remainder of the staff look blankly at them in meetings and online staff communication channels being peppered with such professional comments as ‘chur bro’ are a few small symptoms of a very concerning malaise in the organisation. The sad plight of the many migrants brought in by completely despicable individuals can mainly be blamed on INZ allowing this to happen using their ‘high trust’ model and I believe our country has an absolute obligation to care for these poor people – after all it is a government department which has been the enabler for this to happen !

    The role of dodgy overseas agencies acting on behalf of would-be immigrants contributed to the mess, and so did desperation of those wanting to get here.
    
    If you wanted to migrate to the United States, then acted through some local agency in NZ, and the criteria you were given failed, do you think you could sue the American Government?
    
    Can you expect NZ citizens to indemnify foreigners from risk in their native countries?
    
    People affected aren’t doctors, nurses, engineers, and other skilled folk. Everyone wants these people, and they get in.
    
    This country is down towards the bottom of developed countries in wealth per capita. We have homelessness and huge, growing infrastructure problems. Can we afford to indemnify foreigners who want to come here?
    
    The background is that world population reached eight billion 12 months ago, according to the United Nations, which put the number of the world’s “displaced” people in August 2022 at 108.4 million.
    
    If, in economic desperation, we need to sell NZ citizenship, we should be auctioning entry efficiently.

      Jack agree that there are other factors in play here other than the train wreck that is Immigration.
      I would suggest however, that if INZ went for ‘quality’ decisions rather than ‘quantity’ decisions and had someone own those decisions rather than a process where an application could pass through numerous hands, none of whom own the decision, things would be a lot better.
      If the article in Stuff is to be believed, multiple criminal records have been overlooked, alerts for breaching visa conditions ignored and staff were instructed not to make notes on the Adept/Inept system (wonder what it cost) if there were concerns uncovered – pretty damn serious if you ask me.
      When attached documents WERE opened false bank statements, CV’s and references were uncovered.
      INZ is obviously incapable of acting as a gateway to protect migrants (many who have lost their life savings to come here and live in squalor) and protect New Zealand by completing quality visa assessment. Not all INZ’s fault but I would suggest it is a HUGE contributor to the shambles !!!

  Luxon/National really need to be explicit on their intentions on all these co-governance areas and their plans over the He paupau report.
  The position to keep the Water Regulator, Taumata Arowai, is in my view the thin edge of the wedge to allow the activist to keep pushing the separatist agendas.
  National needs to clearly state all aspects of co-governance, including health, is going.

Chris Bishop in the media today giving a bit of a National heads up on social housing.

The National Party is promising to axe swathes of jobs and “clean out” Kainga Ora, the Government’s social housing landlord and developer.

No doubt there are delivery issues within Kainga Ora, but TBF they are seriously constrained by government policy and direction.

IMO a key cause of social housing failure is the magnitude and composition of the waiting list. The waiting list has quadrupled since 2017 despite a ramped up programme of build, and rent from the private sector. Half are households with no children, mainly working age singles (not necessarily working). And a huge ethnic imbalance.

Why? What has changed since 2017? Like to see some root cause analysis. What’s the point of continuing to solve the wrong problems?

On a personal note, in the market to buy a home for family members. The #1 consideration is what social housing is in the area or planned, definitely a very strong negative.

  The examples of appalling tenants not being held to account are disgusting. There are undoubtedly hundreds if not thousands of struggling yet decent people on the waiting list.

Now the latest on the teeth bribe .A case of pay now buy later. Using wage earners taxes to accumulate enough to give out maybe so called “Free Dental Care” Perhaps in Two to Three Years time .
Now the joke not moving the Income Tax bracket creep like National have proposed for hard working NZs.
They cant be serious talking about so called “FREE Dental Care on maybe the Twelvth of never .

starting for most in 2026, so ask yourself this, when is a promise a bribe and for the majority they won’t come into affect until a few months before the 2026 General Election.
Chris Hipkins our Prime Minister described the policy as a bold Labour vision and ” game changer for many” whilst acknowledging that’s some aspects of Labours eight cost of living measures announced so far don’t kick infor a couple of years, making it difficult to claim they will help the back pocket of many Kiwi family’s when thy need it most.

  Seeing some people interviewed in the street last night on TV news there’s going to be some disappointed dental patients. Most seemed to think they would be getting paid for wisdom teeth extraction or root canal treatment. It’s only basic checks cleans and fillings.
  However none of it’s ever going to come to pass as Labour will not win.

I go for long walks in an around Papakura including new housing areas like Kauri Flats. Little narrow boxes packed in, side by side, barely room for a mini clothes line. Slums in 30 years??

The streets are narrow making passing awkward. Either a small garage or none at all so cars are jammed in on all angles making traffic movement extremely difficult.

What is rather puzzling is the width of the footpath. Many are 2.5 metres wide – huge. Almost no pedestrians, of course. So people park on them, kids play on them making them dangerous as cars wriggle their way through the narrow streets.

Is this the best we can do? After all these years of billions invested in housing, fancy promises, all we have to show for it is an ugly, dangerous ghetto in the making.

    Land would be far more affordable if we turned off the immigration taps for 50 years, or even better, indefinitely. But like so much of the political paradigm, disastrous ideologies such as this one are taken as a given, and we must attempt superficial and ineffective measures to deal with the consequences – and inevitably fail in the attempt.
    
    No, so the argument must always be “we need to free up more land” (which is true to some extent), but we can never tackle the obvious problem and say “stop the extra people coming in” (which is the root cause of needing more land). The same failure to address the causes rather than the effects applies right across the spectrum of various social issues.
    
    Unless there is a fundamental change in approach, it will continue to not really matter too much if we have a Labour or a National government, because the root problems will remain.

        Frankly, I’m sick of walking into meetings & being the only native New Zealander there.
        
        Not a poke at any individual; just the volume.
        
        We used to have a country that functioned alright with very limited immigration; and I don’t recall any politician campaigning on changing the nature of the people of the place by importing foreigners from all over.

in the halcyon days of 2020, certain internet felines were heard to opine that “public health epidemiology is just the global warming scam on 100X fast forward.” and truly, it was.

it’s the same tricks, the same bad models, the same zero-move look ahead sensationalization of anything that happens. it’s the same endless pivots to “the new scary thing” when the last one fails to pan out. it’s the same manipulation of data, the same suppression of dissent and elimination of perspective, and the same interminable repetition of tall tale talking points to frighten, other, and enrage.

We were lied to and propagandised with the covid narrative. We are being lied to and propagandised with the ‘climate; narrative.
But as the cat points out, ultimately this scam becomes easily recognisable, like a bad magician trick, once the trick is seen it cannot be unseen.

but we will evolve around this.

this endless bag of tricks not only evaporates but inverts once you know what you’re looking at. you not only see the scam for what it is, but you also see the scammers for what they are.

once you have learned to rotate this shape in your head, these attempted attacks just discredit the attacker and make them look absurd and untrustworthy. it’s why they try so hard to suppress such speech.

but it’s not working, is it? covid has exploded like a novelty cigar in the face of “the experts” whose weaksauce woo-woo has been laid plain.

this was once a scam that worked.

“extra! extra! scary new variant! this time be super duper double secret afraid because we really mean it!”

now it reads like lame, out of date comedy.

This all leads to totalitarianism. It always involves more government control and less personal autonomy. Like the ‘kind and caring’ Ardern and her ‘team of 5 million. It is all lies and fakery.
This is socialism cum marxism in disguise.

It is the path we have been forced along under the worst government in NZ history, a horrendous mix of ideological madness from dangerously incompetent students and activists, based on fraudulent claims regarding health, race, climate and gender.

but “grift shift” is the name of the game for this crowd and as the covid horse dies out from under them, many seek to switch to climate for the next leg of the ride to authoritarianville because while these two purported maladies have nothing to do with one another, isn’t it interesting that they always have the same cures: more government power, fewer rights, more collectivism and diktat, and less free speech.

and the way of the watermelon (green on the outside, red on the inside) is by far the more dangerous path. covid is just the annoying little brother of this gang. climate alarmism cum activism is the nasty older sibling who is almost certainly going to kill someone one day.

  Please point to all of these so-called “socialists” who are foisting their ideologies on us. The Masters of the Universe (be it Blackrock, Vanguard, Wall Street banks, Bill Gates, or the Davos crowd) are hardly motivated by “socialism” don’t you think?     These organisations aren’t organic, they are well funded and designed to destroy our system of democracy. It is divide and rule on steroids, it is funded by the people you talk about, and it tricks useful idiots into doing the job on behalf of those people.
    
    When you have more money than you can spend in a hundred lifetimes, what do you do for entertainment? Play God. Treat the planet like a version of ‘The Sims’. The only thing left is power over others and the only way to achieve that is to destroy the democratic process.
    
    So yes, you’re correct. But ultimately it is a version of ‘socialism’ which is being employed to attract the foot soldiers needed to achieve this.
    If the billionaire class simply decided to impose their will without this cover and support, they would very quickly arrive at their own personal Marie Antoinette moment.
    
    The concern for me is, either willingly or because they are too stupid to see through it, too many of our politicians go along with the ludicrous premise of covid, climate and gender etc.
    
    All of these need to be treated with the derision they deserve, they are all moronic concepts that have been sold to the public with the biggest and most expensive propaganda campaign in history.

      This applies to capitalism too (not the same as free market exchange). Concrete people rule, not abstract ideologies. Ideologies are just the clothing these people wear.
      
      The debt-based system of “infinite” growth is purely instrumental – it makes some extremely rich and able to wield power, but it is inessential. Power is the goal, and it doesn’t matter how the goal is reached. It can be dispensed with when it has served its purposes.
      
      Hence, the Great Reset – the old order of the last 500 years is ending, and those who benefitted from it the most aren’t going to yield to an organic replacement. They intend to bring the temple down in a controlled manner (pandemics and climate scams etc.) and build something new in its place. But they intend to keep us their slaves.

    You can call Bill Gates a capitalist all you like. The fact remains, that if Bill Gates is paying large sums of money to governments in exchange for beneficial policy, then he is literally a socialist.
    
    I think people get confused by the term socialism. They think it is a system to help poor people at the expense of the rich. It literally has nothing to do with any of that. Socialism is an economic system in which the government controls and manipulates the economy. Just because the govt is making policy which benefits the rich and corporations does not suddenly make it capitalism. It makes it corporate socialism.
    
    Do you really think that Bill Gates investing in Pfizer, and then paying large sums of money to governments around the world to mandate their vaccines, is capitalism? Give me a break…the govt forcing you to buy and consume Pfizer’s products is as far away from capitalism as you can get.

Shaw’s biography and LinkedIn profile states that he is a graduate from Victoria University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. However Wishart claims that Shaw dropped out of university and never graduated.

Victoria University has an online portal where you can search for graduates. If you type in “James Shaw”, you get no results. 😳

This is potentially serious. There have been a few high profile cases in New Zealand where people have lost their jobs, and in one case prosecuted for falsifying claims about qualifications.

    If you look at his Wikipedia page you discover…. “Before returning to Wellington in 2010, Shaw worked in the consulting division at PricewaterhouseCoopers.”
    
    Did he tell PricewaterhouseCoopers that he graduated from Victoria University? Maybe he did graduate. Maybe Ian Wishart is wrong. Maybe the graduates database at Victoria University has him missing. Errors happen.
    
    Of course all this could be cleared up in 5 minutes.
    
    At the end of the day, this allegation, even if proven, is not going to change the Green vote. My major issue is with media hypocricy. If such an allegation was in circulation about the ACT or National leader, the screams in the media would be audible in Pitcairn Island.

  We need to check out the facts. I have done the search. There is no plain “James Shaw” but does he have other names that should be in the search. Also the Green party bio on JS says “While completing a Master’s in sustainable development and business leadership at Bath University,”.
  
  I totally agree that if he does not have a BA from Victoria University and he says that he does, then he should suffer the consequences of lying.
  
  However, before the attack starts you have to make sure you have all the ammunition required. This is my military background coming out.

  In fairness the VUW list of graduates starts in 1998, Shaw’s Linkedin pages suggest completion in Sept 1994 (although a strange date if you think about it).
  
  I would note the Linkedin entry is ‘Authorised by Miriam Ross, Level 5, 108 The Terrace, Wellington’ who is the Green’s GM.

      Wishart is one of NZ’s most experienced investigative journalists, all Shaw has to do is show his degree, show what his true shareholdings were/ are, or correct the record.
      I think Shaw is trying to freeze Wishart out because Wishart gave the ” unprecedented cyclone caused by climate change” narrative a total smackdown, or Shaw is scrambling his spin as the non-white-cis-male sisters smell blood in the water.

  Shaw turned 25 in 1998 – quite probably graduated before then.

    I guess the difference is that James Shaw having a degree form VUW does not have much to do with his election to Parliament. It is certainly not a criminal offence. For example, an engineer getting a job designing bridges with a fake qualification is a criminal offence.

  That online search is for records back to 1998. Shaw says he graduated in 1994 so you have to access the individual calendars.
  
  I looked. His name is not listed in the roll of graduates in the 1994 calendar. His name is mentioned as being on the executive of Victoria University students association in 1993 but again not listed on the roll of graduates.

But I want to get on to their dishonesty on how they have achieved a minor amount of their goals argument that I have had with many over Covid-19, Megan Woods the Housing Minister and those that run Kianga Ora took $3.8 billion from the Covid-19 fund and deposited in the Housing Excellaration Fund the Minister made so they could buy houses on the open market or build them, this was money that Grant Robertson promised when it was borrowed that it would only be used for Covid-19 related expenses.

    MM – Dr Robert Malone was very careful to avoid answering the question as to whether Omicron came from a lab. It’s been long known that it came from an early lineage that had essentially died down and that there were so many mutations that researchers had said it could come from nowhere other than a lab. I quietly suspected that some Good Samaritan virologist had worked on it and released it. The South African Institute of Virology (now the SA Institute of Infectious Diseases) was highly regarded.

Hours later Labour promises free dental care for all under 30

Do they not understand supply and demand. The costs that the dentists will charge when there is no supply will be horrendous

  Pesky unintended consequences 😅 The government would need to negotiate a schedule of fees that it will pay to the dentists for treating under 30s. The government will screw down those prices. So dentists will have incentives to maximise their over 30s clients, who they can charge whatever.
  
  The other thing is that over 30s have more complex and profitable procedures.
  
  So if you are under 30 expect to join a long queue for your appointment for your free care.

Is NewsHub’s Lloyd Burr going to be reporting on KJK (also known as Posie Parker) when she returns this month to give evidence in Court? Just asking for a friend who thinks Burr might not be the dispassionate voice we need at that moment.

Here are some excerpts from what Burr wrote on TodayFM’s now defunct website, back in March under the title “Why I’ll protest Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull”:

“Kellie-Jay doesn’t want trans people to have what she has. She doesn’t want them to feel comfortable in their own skin, in their own bodies, or in their own society.

“Kellie-Jay also has a history of Islamophobia and white supremacy. Look at some of her previous commentary. It’s pretty vulgar.

“She punches down, bullies and uses her power and platform and privilege to spread her hate. . .

“As Kiwis, we can’t stand by and let people bully those who are different and just want to fit in. . .

When you read pieces like that, you end up wondering how much vitriol they’d spew on the women in your own circle — women who continue to want some spaces and events to be reserved for biological women. They’re not asking for something extra, they just want to hold on to what they’ve got.

  Even if true, who cares? She has a certain opinion on X, therefore all of her other opinions are invalid? This is like saying that someone believes that the earth is flat, but also believes that New Zealand has a population of about 5 million people, therefore New Zealand doesn’t have a population of about 5 million people.
  
  Even if, for example, she had uncontrollable homicidal tendencies towards all “trans” people, this wouldn’t make the pro-trans argument any stronger. There is no logical connection.

National policy was pretty pointless.

This extreme left government (described as the “centre” by The Team of $55 million) will always outbid you in terms of increasing the size of the State, so why bother trying to compete on this?

Perhaps National’s thinking is that an honest approach will only seem to secure you about 15% of the vote maximum. Sadly, this could be true…

The problem is that the relative size of the looter, moocher and grifter group has grown exponentially in recent years, while the group paying for this largesse contracts at an alarming rate.

I understand that about 50% of households don’t pay net tax? Approximately 500k work for the State, 50k for the Council, and 200k are on welfare completely (11.3% of households). 750k total. That’s a lot of mouths to feed…

This leads to a socialist doom loop. Economic failure begets more socialism, as tax revenues are crushed, and welfare remorselessly rises.

Still, socialists believe that they can treat the few remaining contributors like farm animals, milking them for ever-increasing subsidies.

There is one problem with the neo-Marxist’s cunning plan. In the unlikely event Labour / Green / Māori win the election, the wealthy will leave, and leave the moochers to it.

The economy and society will collapse.

The Team of $55 million will then deliver sad outpourings about how the “blatant failure of capitalism” has ruined everything…

Vance states in the article that a group of socially conservative evangelical Christians are known by more centrist MPs as the ‘Taliban’.

Vance does not substantiate who or how many centrist MPs hold this view.

If you are a centrist MP who does not call this group the Taliban, could you take Vance to court for slander and reputational damage?
