Thats a start. I would have called it the “get help” category but at least they are out of women’s swimming.

Now do women’s toilets and changing rooms… oh and all other sports.

Once these men lose the ability to be called woman the whole thing will disappear

In addition, all current provision of publicly used facilities will not allow anyone access to facilities which are designed for the opposite sex use.
    
    2. Public Funding for Sports: We will pass legislation to ensure any publicly funded sporting body that does not have an exclusive biological female category, where ordinarily appropriate, shall be immediately ineligible for any public funding.
    
    This is not about being ‘anti anyone’ or ‘anti anything’. This is about standing up for commonsense, safety, and fairness for everyone.

  About time. This was the best compromise without simply excluding Trans people from sport.
  Now can be biological Male, Female and ‘other’.
  Can allow competition without playing into either delusions or impacting upon other athletes/competitors.
  
  The “A trans-woman was ALWAYS woman” {regardless of age of self-realisation or their genitals} groups will not be sated, but we can finally agree to ignore them.

  It is indeed a start, but I will watch with interest to see how this progresses. To my mind it could easily go one of two ways:
  
  (a) The LGBT++ community will erupt in howls of outrage, screaming “Transphobia! Bigotry! Unfair!” as they bitterly complain that this is denying that transgender “women” are REAL women and how DARE they not be allowed to compete in Women’s events; or
  
  (b) Very gradually, little by little, common sense begins to reassert itself. More people and organisations will quietly come to the realisation that allowing biological men to compete in Women’s events at elite levels is nonsensical and will accept more of these moves.
  
  I hope it’s the second, but given the current atmosphere I honestly don’t know.

  It is an obscure point, but isn’t this “trans women are real woman” argument retrospective category application? I mean, when female sport bodies were started, it was for biological women only. There was no other category of woman at the time. Sports bodies pre 2000s are by definition segregated by biological sex.

  Blackrock are investing $2B into NZ. I think it is $2B of OUR money which we don’t even have.

    I would like to see the contracts.
    Is NZ borrowing $2B of our money for Blackrock to invest in NZ infrastructure and in the future Blackrock takes most of the profits. NZ pays back the $2B and makes nothing?
    With Labour and Ardern’s unannounced visit with Blackrock, there is some more screwing over of NZ.

      It’s a fund. They raise capital from anyone. I don’t think this fund even has closed yet ie I think they are still raising money. It was an absolutely nothing announcement. $2bn for power station development is nothing. One large Windfarm has a total cost of $1bn. So even with gearing you are talking 5 or so over what will be say 5 to 10 years even with a fast track consent. They do t even have any sites I believe.

Nothing shows Jenna Lynch’s abject bias, and distain for National, than the hit piece yesterday over National ‘may’ introduce allowance for foreign buyers back into the property market.
The original issue was a beat up by Labour as stats showed less that 3% of the housing market was sold to overseas interests, and usually at the high end of the market. But Lynch rushes of the Peters and David Parker for inflammatory comment to denigrate National.
All this on the day the parliament, through urgency, passed the shambolic RMA Act replacement and the ever-divisive 3/5 waters amendments.
Then to top the day off, on HDPA’s show she reported Robertson is looking to change the presentation pf the PREFU to show ‘likely’ savings (PREFU has always been a state of current books, not unrealised savings in the future). This after Robertson called in all the State Services CEO’s to find savings. Seems like bastardising any convention is no problem for Labour if it hides their total ineptitude, particularly running the economy.
Not a bloody word from Lynch on these, let alone the separatist co-governance aspects that have roundly panned from any rational thinking kiwi.

  Tt agree. Judges in NZ have become little more than advocates for the accused. Victims are expendable and we must not over punish these guilty individuals because their business potential and personal lives may be affected !!. It’s mind blowing. The distinction made that these men are now ten years older and not of the same mentality as when the offences occurred is a crock. The victims are not the same people either but are still haunted by these rapists, and the rapists at 17 have the same potential to be rapists at 27 IMO. A sad indictment on our judicial system.

      Actually, a new government could force them out without having to pay redundancies. The incoming Minister(s) simply have to give the current managers five working days to:
      
      1. Change the organisation’s name, and all online comms, to English.
      2. Remove all references to ToW from all current online comms; and publicly undertake to not mention ToW in any future comms.
      3. Publicly state that water in all its forms is conjointly owned by all NZers, regardless of their ethnicity.
      
      If the foregoing aren’t acceptable to one or more of the current troughers, move to:
      
      4. Resign on principle, with the understanding that there will be no redundancy payout. The Minister may make a payout of up to 5 days pay in lieu of redundancy.

  While National and Act say they will repeal the three waters legislation, luxon does say they will keep the water regulator Taumata Arowao.
  The question is will they retain the Maori advisory council which presides over the water regulator – the council witches cheered by Tipa Mahuta
  And will they get rid of mana OTY statements which along with the advisory council represent Full governance – not just partial co-governance as it exists at the iEntity level

    Luxon/National have been very silent on what their views over the Mana o te Wai Statements, although they have said they will repel the legislation.
    The fact they haven’t come out and categorically stated they intend to dump the statements is a worry, as my concern they will allow something akin to the statements within the retained water regulator Taumata Arowao.
    I have contacted both Luxon and local National MP what National’s intention is and have had no response.

    Completely agree. Get in there and govern from day one. Make as many changes as you can as quickly as possible. Why it would take up to 100 days is beyond me. Legislative shock and awe is the order of the day. Pass as many changes as possible, and half of them won’t even be noticed, such would be the weight of new law, or the repeal of existing ones. Then people can spend the Christmas holidays wondering what hit them, or alternatively, wondering why it took so long for the wind-back of so much disastrous law.
    
    Will this happen? Probably not (as someone like Wayne Mapp would argue, they “can’t” do such a thing. Why, I don’t know). Moreover, when you don’t have many foundational guiding principles, unlike Labour which has many (awful, but many), what themes are you going to base your legislative overhaul on? But this is what should happen, and it is what needs to happen.

I watched a couple of Parliament questions. Luxon skewering Hipkins, and Bishop same to Jackson. Hipkins literally has nothing in response, and Jackson even less. It was just painful to watch. How has NZ sunk so low with regard to the quality of our Politicians?

It did surprise me when the shooting charges against Alec Baldwin were dropped.
‘Special prosecutors dismissed an involuntary manslaughter charge ….saying they were informed the gun might have been modified before the shooting and malfunctioned.’

However, Ruh Roh for Alec
‘Prosecutors have received a second expert analysis of the revolver fired in the fatal shooting …., as they weigh whether to refile charges against the actor.’
‘The new report examines the gun and markings it left on a spent cartridge to conclude that the trigger had to have been pulled or depressed.’
He should have gone to a NRA course on how to use a firearm. This probably would never have happened if he had.

    To be fair, being handed a gun when there are armourers on set, and for the purposes of filming you point and shoot upon ‘Action’. You do have to trust the armourer.
    Unless you are at point blank range then it is harmless.
    I have been part of theatrical shooting, reenactments, and TV and movie filming. The only risk if if you have muzzle contact {blows apart a sandbag, or flesh!} or too-short ranges. There have been injuries to people’s faces from people shooting at too close range (seen it, and face all bloody), and you can get power under the skin as blanks expel material; especially black powder. Even .45 blanks make your insides quiver if someone is shooting atop you while you play dead, and percussion blasts past your ear are not nice either.
    Although I didn’t like what Alec Baldwin did in Team America; World Police, as far as shooting a film you HAVE to fire off weapons in the general direction of people, be they stunt people or actors or even film crew lined up behind the camera. Can’t be avoided in many cases.

Question time in Parliament has become incredibly testy of late with the occupants of the treasury benches losing their rag, and the Speaker, whose job, and indeed his seat in parliament is under grave threat, seems to be letting them off the leash if the rants of Jackson, Hipkins and Robertson is anything to go by.

Those who follow proceedings in the house a bit more closely will have noticed. I wonder if this behaviour will have effects outside the beltway??

        Collective guilt of all Chinese people for that (be they Hong Kongese, Taiwanese, or Singaporean) is like the notional of white guilt for colonisation. Both unfair and lacking in nuance or understanding.
        
        Try thinking of Chinese who also value democracy or loath the communist party as allies and friends, rather than all Chinese people being sinister Oolong tea sipping monsters.

    I haven’t downticked, but the idea that you dont point a gun supplied by an armourer at another person, on set, when supplied for that specific reason…..on a film set …..does that rule only apply to Alex Baldwin or to every movie that has been made or will be made??
    
    Try watching some films, you will see that they point guns at each other.
    For real, they do. Not just Mr. Baldwin.
    
    And the fact that someone out of the shot (i.e not an actor) was hit suggests he was not aiming at that person anyway. In a film, the crew might be gathered in a semi-circle around the scene being filmed.
    The real issue is being handed a loaded pistol with a live round in it.

Has the government ever considered the fact that many Asian and Chinese students come to New Zealand schools and universities to learn and improve their English speaking, and that the increased use of written and spoken maori potentially makes the country less attractive to overseas students when they can go to Australia for a better experience.

  If those books reflect the next year’s curriculum, like they claim, then we are really going backwards around patronising ‘Maori science’ on an equal footing with ‘all other human’s science’.

    Nope, this has been going of forever.
    
    In 1992, about 2 months after coming to NZ – so September or so, a colleague of mine and I flew from AKL to Wellington for some training.
    
    In our hotel there were a bunch of teachers from the South Island up for a teachers’ conference who we ended up sharing a table with in the bar.
    
    They told us that there were a bunch of activist teachers pushing for “Maori science” to be included alongside Western science in the school curriculum.
    At that stage it was still being resisted, but they said it was a losing battle and they expected it would happen soon.
    
    It is well and truly here and has been around for a long time. No teaching about tectonic plates lifting up NZ form the sea without giving acknowledgement to Maui and his fishing skills.

  Don’t even have to go that far as they can get a world class higher education in the Philippines. Especially in Dumaguete known as the “City of the gentle people” at the world acclaimed Silliman University. New classes due to start soon after Summer Break ends. The city is again filling up with Asian students who like it as it is a cheap, safe place to live and study and classes conducted in ENGLISH albeit the Yank flavoured version.
  New Zealand (wokeland) is a very hard sell these days and the crime wave is spreading wider with each passing week. While so many Universities are struggling and chopping numbers at the sharp end as the blunt end grows.

      Maybe not 30 seconds, but unlikely to complete even 1 round.
      I am glad it won’t happen, as Musk (whom I do admire, and think is a wonderful colourful character) is often prone to talking smack and BS, and not following through.
      His training by his own admission, was to “start to do some weights when at the office”.
      Seeing Musk taken to the ground and locked up by someone who actually trains at BJJ and something relevent to cage fighting would be sad.
      Musk was never taking it seriously. He is a creative person, an ideas man, and some of the best people like that are not reliable or able to be properly organised.
      Cardio would do him much better than weights, or some actual training! Fighting, and grappling even more so, is exhausting work and the fitter person has a huge advantage. Musk would be sucking back air hard at the end of 1 minute.

Free Range vegetables…….
I see an item on TV3 about a vertical vegetable growing outfit doing it all in a building. They reuse all the water and use LED lighting to mimic the sun.

Now we arent allowed to keep chickens indoor any longer – they have to be organic and free range (well thats what the Supermarkets have dictated)…..
So will we soon see a demand for organic Free Range vegetables………….

Just asking for a friend (who could be a vegan)

Since December 2022, the main road connecting Karabakh to Armenia and the outside world – the Lachin Corridor – has been blocked by Azerbaijan, preventing the flow of 90 per cent of food, medicine, fuel and other supplies into the territory.

More than one and a half million Armenians died in the genocide by Turkey from 1915 to 1918.

Even if they could get out, I doubt NZ will see any Armenians in our quota of refugees. The Armenians are Christians, and they became Christians many centuries before the British. New Zealand allows the United Nations to dictate which refugees this country takes, and the UN decides NZ overwhelmingly take Muslim refugees.

    He cited official government stats from Aus, suggesting that only ~10% of adverse events have been reported.
    
    Not surprising really. Reporting is not mandatory unlike, say, measles. Doctors are far too busy to report stuff they don’t have to.

      One close family member who was faced with the choice of get jabbed or not graduate and lose her job dependent on her graduation, got very unwell post-jab, within 10 days.
      
      She could not get the DHB to accept a report of vax injury. Went to her GP who told her it was a “coincidence.”
      
      ACC refused to accept a claim even after we flew her to Australia and had her examined, and tested, at a high-grade metro hospital. (She was subsequently admitted emergently – twice – through their ER for sustained tachycardia as a result of mRNA vaccine-induced myocarditis).
      
      But she will not be counted in the NZ adverse events total.
      
      Never forget.

What a time for National to take power …

That’s probably not going to come as a shock to anyone, but the establishment media and woke social media response to Oliver Anthony’s gritty coal country ballad ‘Rich Men North Of Richmond’ is less than enthusiastic. Much like their reaction to Jason Aldean’s ‘Try That In A Small Town’ which blew up the charts in the face of heavy media backlash, ‘Rich Men North Of Richmond’ is being derided as a “right wing anthem” laced with “conspiracy theories.”

    I have an electric (BEV) motorsickle and I don’t mind if I have to pay RUCs. It’s quiet, it’s fast, charges overnight on standard power, has ABS, traction control and starts 100% of the time by a switch not a kickstart. Best of all – the electrics are by Harley, not Lucas*.
    
    *Those of a Certain Vintage may recall Lucas 12V electrics as run by the Prince of Darkness 🙂

Nats, Act must turn around Public Service.
It is clear the most pressing task facing a new Government is turning around Wellingtons under performing Public Sector, says Ben Thomas, after Public Service Commissioner Peter Hughes whose authority over the Public Service has been centralized under Labour.
The Post reported yesterday that a new poll out showed a majority of voters say the Health, education and criminal justice systems have got worse since 2020. A plurality of voters thought the same athe provision of welfare and transport.
A National and Act opposition are campaigning on fixing headline problems : Accident emergency waiting times, overstretched teachers and opportunistic crime. But to any success
have any success, the Government after the October’s elections must first fix the bureaucracy that will advise and implement these election promises.
The chief issue is a breakdown in the relationship between democratically accountability Minister’s and the professional Public Service.
Some blame the Government. In 2017 a Cabinet of inexperienced Minister’s not expecting to be in Government was armed with utopian policies such as Kiwibuild that were intended to cut electoral losses in defeat rather than be implemented in victory.
This is part of a good column penned by Ben Thomas in this mornings Waikato Times, and the rest is not very complementary either.

What the fuck!!! Appears sneaky feckers Labour intend to lower local body voting age to 16 in a stealth bill tabled last night and likely to be rammed through before election without consultation, mandate or any of the usual niceties of legislative process.

Never mind that polling on issue consistently shows country firmly against lowering age. Labour knows best.

Once again One News trying to give the impression that this year’s storm damage and some coastal erosion was the result of “Climate Change!”.
There’s an underlying implication that the weather will improve if only we could stop using evil fossil fuels. Even if we thought that CO2 levels caused the storm (chuckle), and even if we could stop using fossil fuels tomorrow (snort), we’ll be stuck with the same sort of weather for centuries to come. That’s because CO2 levels will take that long to drop back to ‘safe’ (lol) levels, where the weather is always good and bad things like floods don’t occur.
One thing that definitely will occur if we stop using fossil fuels is that our standard of living will drop – it’s already happening because we’re all spending more on more on energy to stay warm and to get from A to B etc. The upshot is that we’ll all be worse off and less able to deal with bad weather when it happens.
This is what our leaders want for us.

Otago University introduces a mandatory vaccination policy for its staff at the beginning of 2022 (apparently, “MY BODY MY CHOICE” doesn’t count when you are told you have to get injected with something or lose your job), fires a highly regarded anatomical model fabricator who tried to arrange a working-from-home situation – which she had done quite successfully during lockdowns – for no other reason than she tried to exert her right not to be injected against her will, and ends up having to pay her $53,000 in recompense.
