      I recall that in July 2022 at a DCC Meeting, chaired by Aaron Hawkins as Mayor, Dunedin nurse Jennifer Scott submitted she was “concerned about transgender women using the female changing rooms at Moana Pool”. As I recall, she was acting on her own behalf and that of her young daughter.
      
      The ODT advised that after her submission, “DCC Mayor Hawkins, who appeared shaken, told Scott that her submission was “hard to listen to, and it was at very least distasteful, if not repugnant”.
      
      Now this is the interesting bit – subsequently, at the Local Body Elections of 2022, new Mayor Jules Radich, received 20,905 votes to Hawkins’ 10,774 – nearly double!
      Please also note – Hawkins is evidently now unemployed.

    The report by Wade was one of the most disgusting examples of bigotry and misinformation I have seen from the NZ media, and that is saying something.
    
    BTW, don’t think it is gullibility. Wade and Newshub are fully committed to the promotion of “progressive” culture and will deliberately smear and try to destroy anyone who opposes it.
    
    Why else would they label Posey a Nazi, when all she is really is someone speaking up for the rights of women and against the intrusion of males into women’s sports?
    
    If the BSA was ever a legitimate organisation they should take action against Newshub and Wade and her inaccurate hate mongering and rabble rousing. I’d prefer they didn’t exist but if they really want to prove they’re an unbiased judicial media body they should do something about this.

      This is an increasingly common tactic in “news” reporting where the “reporter” extensively quotes someone with the same political view as the reporter, the reporter thereby maintaining plausible deniability over accusations of bias.
      
      Parker is not asked to respond and the only references to her are the ones that reinforce the bias.
      
      It’s political activism pretending to be news. It’s trash.

Driving back from Wellington yesterday I asked myself what is it that I dislike most about the failure to repair our roads; is it the constant traffic cones everywhere and the fact that it takes 12 months and counting to make any progress on the road between Carterton and Masterton? Is it the renaming of New Zealand transport to Waka Kotahi, a meaningless term from a culture that had no wheel, no transport network of any kind, not even any shoes.

I decided as I drove to Masterton it was none of those things. It was the fact that in the whole of the journey from Featherston to Masterton the speed limit is 80 km/h. The joy of the open road, where you can open up the engine and drive along briskly at 100 km/h, that to me is freedom. And now the Socialists want to deny us even that!

Our country is run by Socialist control freaks whose main fear is that somewhere, somehow, people are enjoying themselves. They’re people whose chief aim in life is to suck the joy out of everything.

  Big business loves big government because there’s more of it, doing more things, for them to influence in their favour. Even getting more regulation and compliance is good for big business, as that will make it even harder for competitors, either new or small, to compete against the big players – they don’t have the resources.
  
  The answer to all this is not buggering about with lobbyists, it is reducing the size, reach and scope of government activity.
  
  But that will never happen in NZ so the whole thing, frittering about with lobbyist access etc, is a farce. An illusion.
  
  Nothing substantive will ever happen because big government and big government are far too cosy to allow it – and it is the citizenry who will suffer, through less competition, higher prices, poorer choices and higher taxes.

    We don’t even have the 18 month wait time that Australia imposes on resigning Members of Parliament, before they can start work as a lobbyist.
    
    It should be a basic measure here too: a ‘restraint of trade clause’ making it hard for an MP to line up a high-paying gig outside Parliament, by sucking up to Business leaders… Not saying that always happens, but preventing corruption requires stopping OPPORTUNITIES for it to happen.
    
    Some places have — or at least are talking about it — a five year wait… But we’re just too lax, aren’t we?

Reality Check Radio is online, with Peter Williams and Rodney Hide Headlining.
I sampled a few programs, not being a radio listener I would say compared with podcasts Radio is more about filling time than concise information. I haven’t ever managed to listen through an entire Chantel Baker podcast either to be fair.

  Matt Long – it isn’t as condensed as a podcast, but for a radio station it is head and shoulders above any alternative in NZ. It certainly destroys RNZ and shows The Platform up for their failure to actually permit open debate.

    Is RealityCheck Radio available only through the Internet.
    
    If so it’s surprising they didn’t also grab some AM frequencies for broadcast radio. These can’t be that expensive, and they are good coverage, especially at night, when programmes could be repeated.
    
    As someone pointed out on Kiwiblog recently, radio allows multi-tasking. Int he workshop, or on the tractor, or in the house, you can have the radio playing in the background and listen properly and intently when something catches your attention.

Luxon was out yesterday saying crime needed to be tackled ‘really hard’ and there needed to be more progress on it.

He said ‘serious consequences for serious offenders were needed..’ and that.. ‘we need to be on the side of victims of crime, not on the side of offenders..’

Education and now Law & order commonsense.

    The only poll I take notice of is Roy Morgan. The others were shown at the last election to be rubbish and favouring you know who..
    
    I’m confident the national / act coalition will win the election but as i mentioned they need 75% to entrench the act TOW referendum results.
    
    Wouldnt it be nice to see the curriculum and the public service targets/reporting entrenched so they can only be changed with 75 % of mps approval and so there are consequences for governments who lie about the numbers.

        Exile. Thickos make up the majority of all countries’ voters.
        
        In NZ over 50% of voters thought the rolling disaster Adern (herself in that aforementioned 50% presided over the most expensive covid response in the developed world) was capable of running a country.
        Adern is responsible for killing hundreds of thousands more NZers than covid was ever going to.
        
        In the UK over 50% of voters believed the buffoon Johnson and voted to make themselves markedly poorer.
        
        So politicians have to cater for thickos to gain power and make change. Hence Luxon’s stance on climate change (for the election).
        
        But like most choices in life, abusing the least bad option risks promoting the walking disasters back into power.
        
        I’m still waiting for a Luxon critic to come up with a compelling reason to vote for someone else. Without that compelling reason your criticism can only promote a disaster.

Recall how Clown World proclaimed how wonderful trade with China was. NZ’s biggest overseas market! So wonderful. Now with Russia China alliance trade with China is no longer any good.

CCP are vile and always have been. Nothing there has changed. But CCP resisted China being absorbed into Clown World. Now China is the enemy.

      The last sentence is true, but they were genuine Nazis who have taken to appearing at every organisation where the communist group Antifa turns up. The police won’t protect speakers from Antifa so the Nazis are filling the void. Unfortunate, but that is the reality.
      
      So Posey didn’t invite the Nazis. They weren’t there for any other reason except that Antifa was there, (supporting the trans activists) and this is what the NZ media would say if they were ever interested in truth.

Is she anti trans per se, or is she more simply opposed to biological males with their penises intact using female changing rooms when children are present? Is she more simply concerned with biological males literally muscling in on females sporting events?

  Could easily see the rest being made up for in taxes – materials, consultants, Council invoices, Branz levies, ACC levies, Paye on the labour etc.

    Productivity growth and maintaining NZ as an attractive place to live (decent education, health, low crime, infrastructure, positive/inclusive race relations) is essential if NZ is to retain skilled workers, but Labour has failed, hard, at all of them.

Finding the hooks in recent legislation
I’ve been thinking.
We, ie our new government needs to be on top of the mess created by the current government before they take over so how’s this for an idea?
1. Gather all the legislation passed and in the pipeline from the last 5 and a bit years.
2. Gather a team of experienced lawyers, or law qualified people, – possibly retired, but preferably a generational cross section.
3. Give each of them 3 pieces of legislation and ensure that each piece of legislation is given to 3 different people.
4. Charge each member of the team with going through all the papers with a fine tooth comb looking for “Te Tiriti” assertions, co-governance clauses/assertions and everything else that goes against one-person-one-vote ideology.
5. Create a file of work needed to rewrite where needed and bring it to the house for approval.
We cannot allow anything to remain in legislation that denies the democratic right of everyone to have their say, ie vote across our country.

Picked up a venison pie with plum sauce at a cafe in Mossburn and some muffins in Te Anau. Picked up some cyclists at Mavora Lakes after walking the dog, dropped the psycholists at Five Rivers and I’m now using the wifi at the m10 in Queenstown.

Well, just so we’re clear, Jacinda Ardern didn’t solve a bloody thing. Child poverty is just as bad as it ever was and most likely worse than in 2017.

And, again to be clear, raising benefit rates doesn’t ‘solve’ a bloody thing, it merely papers over the cracks and kicks the cam down the road for a subsequent government.

‘Solving’ child poverty means getting more families self-sustaining and free of reliance on the state. By this measure Ardern and Labour have spectacularly failed with total beneficiary numbers significantly more than in 2017.

Thanks a lot Labour voters – this is on you.

YOU are responsible for this. Ardern and Labour have taken you for suckers.

  You are correct about Ardern failing on the issue of poverty, and the futility of increasing benefit rates.
  
  This is what Grant Robertson said in his Budget 2021 speech:
  “Today, we are announcing the biggest increases in main benefit rates in more than a generation. By April next year we will have moved all main benefit rates to the level recommended by WEAG and in the cases of families and whānau with children, beyond those rates.”
  
  A generational increase in spending for no impact.

The government (MSD) has spent $6.4 million on a campaign called “LOVE BETTER”, on helping youth to deal with breakups partnering with youthline says the Herald.

But what they conveniently leave out is the primary partnership and content is with VICE an edgy progressive magazine focused on sex, kink, drugs, festivals, politics etc, based in Australia with a lot of NZ specific content.

According to Spinoff , who seem miffed that Australia got the contract, ” Vice is seeking two full-time roles for 12 months, and MSD pointed to a budget allocation of $1.8m a year relating in part to “a new campaign focused on safe relationships for young people”.

So who was hired for these two full time roles, what were the roles, and what did they publish, and when did their roles begin. And how much is VICE paid by NZ govt.

Well there is a section on VICE Specifically called “LOVE BETTER” with 12 articles all written by Rachel Barker who “is a Writer / Producer for Vice NZ in Aotearoa”
and these are tagged as MSD articles.

So is she one of the full time staff paid with govt funds? Because a week before her first Love Better article and filed under the New Zealand section, is her article in Vice “A glossary of Sex Worker Terminology” which includes anal play and golden shower. And a week earlier is her article “How to take a good Dick Pic”

And that’s only one writer. There were two positions advertised according to Spinoff? Who else is a govt paid Vice full time contractor in the lead up to the election.

There are heaps of political NZ articles on the site from colonisation, Articles on Ardern, and cow farts and farmers, decriminalisation of drugs etc, female NZ mps, Green party mp’s profiled etc, queer youth etc.

When govt funds media you wonder how much of the other content on their page is supported by that funding. I imagine there is a large amount of young NZers involved in the party and queer music scene in Australia that Labour will be wanting to stay in touch with pre – election.

I have just watched Chris Luxon’s live stream. He was fantastic and spoke extremely well about National policies which can only be good news for all New Zealanders. He mainly concentrated on education, which, as we know, is currently in dire straits. Of course his speech will never be reported, or if at all only negatively, by the MSM. All the so called Nat supporters who constantly whinge about Luxon on here must watch it. It might change their tune.

Beach Haven Primary School on the North Shore held a community colour fun run and barbecue on Wednesday evening.

The money raised by the event would be put towards ensuring all the school’s 75 year 6 students could attend Camp Bentzon on Kawau Island in June, deputy principal Anoushka Dallow said.

Golriz actually makes sense (unintentionally) in her latest Stuff article:

“That means our rights are there to protect us all, without discrimination, and that every right – civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights – must be fulfilled.

Inevitably, this means balancing rights against each other.”

She’s talking about Free Speech Rights but it’s the exact same argument that the Women’s Rights Activists are arguing.

Trans rights must be taken in context of women’s rights and do not supersede them. She’s explained that perfectly well in her article (again, accidentally). To balance these rights, a reasonable conversation must be had. Her attempts at blocking this conversation, again in the context of her own words, is hate speech.

Interesting paywalled column by Harriet Sargeant in the UK Spectator detailing the huge number of school dropouts and mental health problems caused by Covid lockdowns and school closures there. Predicting many of the many tens of thousands of affected children who have lost their education are heading into gangs and prison.

Probably this is a strong contributor to our own crime wave and ram raids. The politicians and their public health advisors who discounted this risk and cost should be held to account.

Poor bloke has been prepped for surgery and had it cancelled 5 times over 8 days.

This is not newsworthy it is just business as usual (and getting worse).

In 2020 I was in hospital for 5 days waiting for a cardioversion (a defibrillation shock to get the heart timing right again). I was bounced 3 times over 5 days.

What I do fund outrageous is that there are 200 communications staff. WTF are they all doing?

Rather than hire 100 people to make the hospitals work better (ie. orderlies etc), they hire 200 people making press releases and posters telling you what an awesome job they are doing.

“Communications” people are pretty much the advertising department. If you’re doing a good enough job then you don’t need one.

  In the article I read the people filing the judicial review, were saying the costs of the judicial review of the decsion would be “minimal”.
  These people live on the same planet Rawrir Waitiri does.
  A judicial review of any sort costs heaps. I would think about $20k would be a good starting figure.
  And by the time the courts get around to dealing with the matter even on an urgency basis Ms Parker will have said her piece and left.

    They’re onto that bit alex – they want her visa put on hold until the hearing is done.
    Of course, since she is on a speaking tour, she will have left this part of the world by then and may not be able to return.
    If they get their hold, I hope they have to put up the cash to fund her visit if they subsequently lose the case.

  If this thesis is right then the destructive nastiness of Cancel Culture and general woke toxicity is just an extension of these evolutionarily programmed female behaviours.
  
  It would be great to teach adolescents the likely evolutionary origins of a lot of their vindictive, anti-social and tribalistic behaviours that clearly aren’t needed in our world of plenty, if we knew ourselves better in this regard we would be better armed to identify and reduce the toxic behaviours in ourselves and others.

We hear a lot these days about Maori values.

How these values are determined, by whom, what qualifies as a Maori value and importantly how values are deemed to be not Maori values we are never, ever told.

It is a mystery.

The list of Maori values just seems to be one maintained by tribal elites or Maori academics which are to cast Maori in the best possible light, be superior to ‘Western values’ and which are in stark opposition to the activities and practices of some or many Maori we see with our own eyes daily.

I’m constantly seeing Maori names associated with fishery poaching and abuse.

How many of these cases do we need to see before, if we are being honest, we have to write down on our Maori values list ‘fishery abuse’ as a Maori value?

Or, are we in a situation where it wouldn’t matter if there were half a million Maori done for poaching annually – ‘fishery abuse’ would never make it on to the Maori values list – even though the evidence would be abundantly clear that Maori value poaching greatly?

Again, please don’t get me wrong, I am not trying to bash Maori – I literally know tens of Maori who I know would be appalled at the actions of those named in the article.

I’m bashing those academic bullshit artists and tribal elites who openly lie to us about Te Ao Maori and Maori wonderfulness. This crap about Maori values as though every Maori holds the same values and no Maori departs from them, or holds a different value set.

Pre-contact Maori hunted more species to extinction that have become extinct since contact – yet the academics and elites still lecture us like they are holier than thou.

I think they whole thing is bullshit. Pre-contact Maori did what they had to do to survive. They probably made no more or no less numbers of fuckups that any other people would have made in the same position.

It is only now, with the luxury of choices and resources made through Western settlement, that they can now come over all superior and holy with this ‘values’ deceit, which any cursory evaluation would prove to be a falsehood and rewriting of history.

I urge New Zealanders not to fall for it and see it for the revisionist bullshit that it is.

  A little cheekily I would add that while many Maori I know would abhor the actual poaching, if I’m honest, I think few would turn down an offer of a few cheap fresh crays.

I heard Chris Luxon on the radio saying that he did not expect any of his MPs would attend a Kellie Jay Keen event on the weekend. He said he disagreed with all of her views.

I would like to see him asked “What are her views?”. I bet he has never heard her speak.

This is what we have become. We get labelled ‘transphobe’ or ‘extreme right wing’.

I read someone in Australia label her a ‘homophobe’. So how come there are lesbian supporters at all of her events?
