Newsweek has seen the writing on the wall. This week they published an opinion from Scott Atlas (MD, and senior fellow in health policy a Stanford University) entitled America’s COVID Response Was Based on Lies. Some of us have known this for literally years, but it is interesting to see the MSM starting go above the line. Some extracts:

Almost all of America’s leaders have gradually pulled back their COVID mandates, requirements, and closures—even in states like California, which had imposed the most stringent and longest-lasting restrictions on the public. At the same time, the media has been gradually acknowledging the ongoing release of studies that totally refute the purported reasons behind those restrictions. This overt reversal is falsely portrayed as “learned” or “new evidence.”

History’s biggest public health policy failure came at the hands of those who recommended the lockdowns and those who implemented them.

Quite. Baker, Ardern, Wiles, and Bloomfield… we’re looking at you. You are jointly and severally responsible for the biggest public health catastrophe in New Zealand’s history. Your toxic brew of ineptitude, hubris, and narcissism has ruined lives – current and future.

Here are the 10 biggest falsehoods—known for years to be false, not recently learned or proven to be so—promoted by America’s public health leaders, elected and unelected officials, and now-discredited academics:

1. SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus has a far higher fatality rate than the flu by several orders of magnitude.

2. Everyone is at significant risk to die from this virus.

3. No one has any immunological protection, because this virus is completely new.

4. Asymptomatic people are major drivers of the spread.

5. Locking down—closing schools and businesses, confining people to their homes, stopping non-COVID medical care, and eliminating travel—will stop or eliminate the virus.

6. Masks will protect everyone and stop the spread.

7. The virus is known to be naturally occurring, and claiming it originated in a lab is a conspiracy theory.

8. Teachers are at especially high risk.

9. COVID vaccines stop the spread of the infection.

10. Immune protection only comes from a vaccine.

Back in April 2020 BlairM told me “Don’t be selfish. Stay home, for others’ sake, not just yours”. Turns out being forced to stay home has left a trail of human misery.

  And when will our Govt allow those NZ’ers that lost their jobs due to the mandates back into the workforce?
  
  There are staffing shortages in the health sector and a well documented shortage of midwifes etc.
  
  So far the Govt seems oblivious and unwilling to use every lever to help rectify the health sector crisis.

    Those that lost their jobs have been vindicated as the evidence of “death by pharma+medical cabal” outcome piles up. The dismissed deserve compensation for lost income, and for emotional distress.

        I resigned from the board of an organisation that mandated Covid ‘vaccinations’ for all staff, more than 1000 people. The decision was to delegated to the CE, but I insisted the policy decision rested with the board. I was out voted, 9:1 in favour.

  bravo Krazy. I routinely look for your comments by searching your name in the lengthy GD posts as I know you have been all over this. Our instincts were right from the very start and oh boy have we been punished for the alt view.
  The thing is, the friends I have lost, the principal with whom I had a heated argument leading to my removal by the police, the opprobrium suffered at the hands of everyone from supermarket checkout ladies to the withered arm of the law….none of them will acknowledge or even make space in their own heads for the possibility that they were wrong. None of them will do that.
  So, bittersweet satisfaction that ‘we were right all along’. For what it’s worth, because as Faith No More sang, ‘Everything’s Ruined’.

    I would like to correct you there.
    
    I don’t think the “alt” view was just based on instincts, but, rather, on REALLY following the science. It was solid science, not just some gut feeling.
    
    Meanwhile those that were talking about “following the science” really were not.
    
    A generation of people have been harmed. But, maybe worse in the long term, many generations will have had their confidence in real science and real vaccines etc rattled.

      You are right, of course cmm, but I am not a scientist. Despite that, I have had flu many times, and I have seen the moronic ‘SARS pig flu bird flu’ bullshit over the course of years. I also know that economic health = physical health. As an ordinary, average Joe, I knew this whole thing was absurd. I also knew that a piece of cloth over your face could never prevent a respiratory virus from propagating.
      But all that ‘common knowledge’ was denied by the experts. Gaslighting? Good lord, the fucking SCALE of it!

      I don’t even think it required you to ‘follow the science’, just needed a healthy application of rational thinking. Something severely lacking in many people nowadays.
      I remember thinking way back in Mar/Apr 202, the reaction and follow-up response was irrational to an unbelievable degree, it made me feel uneasy.

    Isn’t it great that we no longer have to see these people on TV and in the papers anymore. Speaking of which where has Baker and Wiles (kiwibank nzer of the year 2021) gone? I feel abandoned. They were all over the press for the first half of the pandemic but have now disappered and I feel lost without their daily wisdom //. Would love to see them on TV now.

        Whoever wins the election do we trust anyone to actually hold those responsible and accountable?
        At best incompetence at worst malovence , most likely a bit of both with lots of lies thrown in.
        Look at the list of those who were wrong
        All political parties in power,govt and opposition.
        All the Media with independant exceptions
        All govt public servants in particular
        – so called scientists
        – doctors, nurses
        – health specialists
        – Destiny profiting off testing
        – Testers
        – Tracers
        – Woke corporates – The Warehouse and Air NZ two early virtue signallers
        – Police
        – Immigration
        – All companies that mandated
        – All companies that still mandate
        – All the people who took the vaccine and or boosters and mocked those who didn’t
        
        No way will most of thepeople admit they deceived or were deceived.
        
        Ideally appropriate justice should be served as follows
        Innocent victims first
        1.Those killed by directly or indirectly by govt laws and mandates, families compensated and laws changed to protect this from ever happening again.
        
        2. All those suffering from taking vaccine be taken care of medically and be supported for their needs and be compensated.
        
        3. Those who lost their business and houses due to govt lockdowns be reimbursed.
        
        4. Those who lost jobs to be reimbursed and reinstated.
        
        After victims then identify and trial those who
        
        a) Made decisions which had real life impacts to all victims above
        
        b) Start from the top and work way down political hierarchy.
        
        c) Use the investigation to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Highlight what went wrong and how we can avoid it happening.
        
        d) Investigate the relationship between the govt and 4th estate and check it was not collusion for lying.
        
        That’s a start, for the record yes I know people adversely affected by the vaccine. Yes my job meant I had to resign as I disagreed with their response to the manufactured crisis.
        
        Feel free to add more in terms of what needs to be done to protect NZers future and hold people accountable for the atrocities committed.

  Yet again I ask where has the Billions of Treaty settlement funds gone? The latest round started 30 years ago in 1993 with the largess of the Duke of Montrose aka Doug Graham. Since then Maori stats have got much worse. Like 60% of the prison population compared to 15% of the total population.
  If the funds had been spent wisely on improving the lot of Maori the MSM would be shouting this from the roof tops. Instead silence.
  BTW expect to see a large increase in the numbers ticking the Maori box in the census.

    I did not tick the Maori box on the census form. Last time I did tick it and for my sins was required to go through a mandatory one-on-one face to face interview.
    
    A good part of the information requested in the meeting went well beyond what was in the census forms. And obviously was going to be used by advocacy groups, aka more money please. Possibly also researchers.
    
    Same will go for gender and mould in the house questions, but at least – AFAIK – citizens don’t have to front up in person to intrusive questioning.

      The student-visa rort was pushed not only by universities and secondary schools, but even by foreign entrepreneurs who set up in NZ to help their fellow countrymen (and it was overwhelmingly, men) migrate here.
      
      It has provided lots of whiteware sales assistants, door knockers for electricity companies and internet providers, but very little or any push for technology industries.
      
      There must be millions of highly skilled folk we could target as potential immigrants.

    That was a few years ago. NZ generally cant retain highly skilled as there is too much taxation, govt regulation and high costs of living. Unless they have been here for yrs. If you can live anywhere in the world ie highly skilled then NZ isnt really the best option. Increasingly immigrants moving to NZ are motivated to get away from their shit hole countries. If you are from a first world country moving to NZ is generally a very backward step.

And seeing what we see now in the ineptitude and weakness of our current politicians, along with the woke|diversity and equity inspired young people that vote them in, I for one am happy to take my assets and money and leave them to it. They can climb out of the hole full of shit that they have dug, and are continuing to dig themselves into. I’ll sit back, watch and have a laugh. If things start to look like getting a bit messy in terms of property rights (or say a wealth tax), wife and I are mobile, we’ll just bugger off somewhere more friendly.

  I am one of them. I have a wealth of mechanical and fabricating knowledge that has only passed on to a few 30 years ago. These days the younger do not want to work in a noisy engineering workshop and get their hands dirty. Useless. They just want a keyboard and screen.

    Climate Change is an issue that has been worked on since Maggie Thatcher’s involvement, so its origins are now ‘back in history’ and ‘scientists’, since realising the cash cow that Climate Change is, have milked every angle possible, so there is answers to almost every attack you might make.
    
    Better to direct your energies to debunking “Mahi Tahi”, the new buzz-word for “co-governance”, which has not gone away at all, but is for example the reason Rob Campbell claims he met his demise – Hipkins trying to distance himself from the most toxic front to him in Election year.
    
    Meanwhile Luxon has been keeping his powder dry so long that he appears to have forgotten where the trigger is. He needs help in finding it again.

    I believe the police were instructed by Ardern. This happened right around the western world. Politicians in the UK, Germany, Italy and Australia were all busted for hauling police chiefs aside and giving them orders, those instruction being in contravention of the laws which exist to stop leaders using enforcement agencies as their own private militias.

      More so in the “5 eyes” aligned countries.

I returned to live in New Zealand six years ago and do wonder why. Things had seemed to be really on the up and up, and then the government changed.
What has been achieved here since then? As far as I can tell very little.
The health system is terrible
Debt is out of control
New infrastructure???
Crazy expenditure by NZTA with hard to identify benefits

But I guess on the up side we have had tremendous growth in racial division.

    My form of protest went the other way. Completed two online forms, with different codes, both matching to the same address. If their system is so crap that it’s incapable of recording that a form had already been completed for an address, that tells me immediately that any data they collect is utter garbage.
    
    I didn’t think they could make it any worse than the previous one under this government – the worst (both census and government) in history, but yet again Labour has said “hold my soy latte”.

      Yes I was stunned at this. As an IT professional I can understand why they might have multiple codes for the same address (to track which for triggered you to do the survey) but not linking them to the same survey is just plain incompetence.
      
      Also, yet again they didn’t provide an (obvious) ability to edit a survey once completed. Im pretty sure I made a mistake but couldn’t see how to edit it. Last time the edit functionality was either broken or unavailable.
      
      My father never got his papers, only something saying they wouldn’t be delivered and he must complete online (weird). Handy for someone who doesn’t have a computer and doesn’t use the internet on his phone (apart from yelling questions a google).
      
      It is stunning that after the last Census fuck up that they once again seem to be on the same track. It is amazing the level of incompetence this government has, I cant recall major Census screw ups before this Labour govt.

  I am looking forward to full disclosure of the results of this census – especially of what percentage of people, across what age ranges and birth sex – actually identify as another gender.
  
  It may show that the noise is disproportionate to the number of people affected – which means, of course, that some other group is missing out on attention it should get simply because it is not as noisy.

      Based on the information I have seen it will be an exponential graph by age starting at 0.01% for the 90 plus cohort with a sharp rise in the 10 to 15 year cohort before tapering down in the 1 to 5 group where gender disphoria is a parental mental issue.

        There are instances of families in the USA with 3 or 4 children where 66-75% of the children are either trans or Lesbian / homosexual. In one case the Wife / mother identified as a Trans homosexual (i.e. a Biological Woman who thinks she is a Man but is sexually attracted to men).
        
        There was a primary school class with 15 people identifying as LBGTLMNNOP. Coincidentally the teacher was also LBGTLMNNOP.
        
        Statistically it is hard to see thas as being possible on a purely biological basis. If you factor in nurture however you can easily see why it might occur. We are not allowed to factor in nurture.

  Coincidentally, recently I rewatched an old Waatea News piece with Willie Jackson form years back (before he was in government).
  
  He was talking about situations where Maori Iwi lost money through fraud or embezzlement, or just plain bad investing, by iwi governors, managers or administrators.
  
  He reckoned that in these cases the fault lay in the government, for throwing money at Iwi incapable of managing it – not having the skills or behaviours to do anything other than waste it, according to him.
  
  And that the right thing to do was for the government to pay the money again, but this time with more strings attached!
  
  I thought that it was, for several reasons, one of the most reckless, racist, and just plain irresponsible things I’ve ever heard someone in his position say in my life.
  
  I wonder if Willie paid $50,000 cash for a new car and the dealer later rang to say the cash was lost by the accounts boy taking it on the bus to the bank and would he mind paying another $50,000 please?

Production costs per kg of Milk Solids “20-21 $4.39, 21-22 $5.32 and 22-23 predicted $5.95 However, since then interest cost have increased approximately 200%. AgFirst results for breakeven payout/kg of ms to cover FWE, int and drawings, $8.44” which means a loss for half of dairy farms this year excluding those impacted by floods.

  The current fleet of 1st Gen EV’s are approaching their end of life.
  
  It’s almost impossible or at very least prohibitively expensive to transport EV batteries to NZ, even before you consider the cost of the batteries themselves and the very specialized labour required to work on them.
  
  You can completely rebuild your ICE engine for a fraction of the price.
  
  This makes a 10-15 year old EV worthless
  
  Where as a 15-20 ICE vehicle remains perfectly functional, if perhaps a smidgeon less economical than current models

  Not really strange. All the people who want socialism don’t actually want it for themselves, just others. There are countless videos online where someone proposing socialism is asked questions like ‘have you chosen to pay additional taxes’, the answer is always no, but I will when everyone else is. Same as celebs / greens who tell people not to have multiple houses, car pool, dont fly (esp not in a private jet) etc. Its always do as I say not as I do.

This article and “study” are just a beat-up about fierce competition around carpet manufacturing and selling.
Carpet makers have had a fine old time in recent years selling cheap synthetic carpets with little competition.
Now there is competition from a resurrected wool carpet market – and they do not like it.
At all.
But, of course, the synthetic/oil based product marketeers will have the support of the anti-farming lobby.

  The “synthetic good” case seems to be based on it being recyclable. Is there actually an industry recycling synthetic carpet in New Zealand? What products is it recycled into? What percentage of the product is captured for recycling?
  
  The article didn’t answer (or even ask) those questions. If we’re phasing out fossil fuels (which we’re not really), synthetics cannot be a future option.

If the measure — known as the TEXIT Referendum Act — passes, a referendum on whether Texas “should reassert its status as an independent nation” would be scheduled for the next general election on Nov. 7, 2023. The bill would also require potential plans to be presented to the state legislature.

Texas secession is an interesting idea.

Most people view Texas vs White (1869 Supreme Court case) as permanently resolving that Texas cannot secede from the United States.

But note that if Texas were to secede then that would almost permanently hand the Presidency to the Democrats. And likely control of the Senate and House too.

It is suggested today that there are now over 1,000,000 New Zealanders living in Australia and this is increasing daily.
In addition there may be 200,000 other ones living elsewhere in the World.
So make a mokery of the Census product without being fiddled to increase the Maori (whoever they are) population and Maori Parliamentary Seats.
Wonder whether we will hear the full census numbers – doubt it – only selected ones.

Some very interesting figures in HB Today.
Hawke’s Bay Rainfall Report:
Rainfall showing the percentage of the 30 year average.
Maps showing increase of rainfall from February 2020, through February 2021,2022 and 2023.
Graphs show results as a percentage of their 30 year average total.

An interesting point is that, if the four years are averaged (no indication of years prior to graphs), the rainfall would, in many cases, be reasonably close to average over the four years.
So 2020 is El Nino,2021/2023 are La Nina, so what happens if, as expected, they swing back to El Nino.

Having waited two weeks for a response from the Minister for the Environment David Parker – about receiving Resource Management Act (RMA) relief to conduct essential flood-recovery work – Federated Farmers got a letter on Tuesday.

In it, the minister essentially told Federated Farmers national president Andrew Hoggard he’d heard his concerns, but little had been decided.

Federated Farmers had sought legislative change, citing the Hurunui/Kaikoura Earthquakes Emergency Relief Act of 2016, to build temporary bridges and access routes across the Hawke’s Bay hinterland.

Some Hawke’s Bay farmers have been unable to access the outside world, let alone get to stranded stock, since Cyclone Gabrielle hit.

Hawke’s Bay Federated Farmers president Jim Galloway said after three weeks, morale and supplies are low, and animals need to be taken off a number of farms ahead of winter.

So who are protesting ? Students at Western Springs College who apparently park there as its just across the road from the college.   The State owned or subsidised news bloc, Ardern-Hipkins Media Inc, is helping Labour divert anxiety about the economy and inflation away from the Government and the Reserve Bank. Robertson and Orr did throw petrol on the property-price fire (apologies for mixing metaphors) through their crazed money printing by bond issues.
  
  We’re lucky banks are flush with money ahead of hard times. They boomed during a property bubble that they didn’t cause, though they reaped profits from it. If banks hadn’t made the loans, less regulated, non-bank lenders would have.
  
  Don’t forget the continual cheers of publicity in the media: Auckland house prices up another X, Wellington property up another Y, and features about house buying in rich countries.
  
  Perhaps some hurting householders can sue advisers or mortgage “consultants” who encouraged them to take the bait.
  
  For the rest of us, there’s some comfort because the NZ Government won’t need to bail out big, Australian-owned banks in the coming rough time.

  I made a complaint to the HRC over that poem, that incitement to kill was in need of a clear and firm statement that it was racist and amounted to hate speech.
  
  I got a reply that basically said that the threshold for hate speech was very high in S61 of the Human Rights Act and as such their view was that it didn’t meet that threshold.
  
  So I replied and referred them to three instances when the Human Rights Commission via Meng Foon had made public statements labelling as racism name-calling, saying the Treaty was past its use-by date, and SHane Jones saying everyone comes here from New Delhi.
  
  I said they were craven, weak and cowardly if they were happy to comment publicly on those occasions but were being silent on someone calling for carloads to cruise around looking for white people to kill.

The latest TPU poll shows how politically ignorant a large portion of New Zealanders are with Labour regaining the lead.
Close to 40% of the population have clearly forgotten what miserable failure this govt has been on almost all of their major policy platforms.
New Zealand gets what it deserves and will continue to fall further and further away from being a 1st world, highly productive country.

I have a load of respect for people like this young lady. I hope she can get the respect she deserves.

Most people in their early 20s would be out partying, drinking, going on dates and travelling budget-style as they embrace their youth.

But unlike the rest of her peers, 21-year-old Hunter Nelson has forgone the party life and instead is a fulltime parent to her teenager.

Being a 21-year-old with a 15-year-old child has been an immense struggle, with Nelson saying teachers and other parents don’t take her seriously.

Most people in their early 20s would be out partying, drinking, going on dates and travelling budget-style as they embrace their youth.

  Fulltime does suggest she isn’t working. The article doesn’t mention either work or study, so I wonder how she is supporting the two of them.

        I have been to a 40th birthday party where the 40yr old had her 25 year old son there.
        Both great people.
        
        Also I knew a couple of great old dears, (both dead now) heavy church goers, married 70 years, she got pregnant at 12 and she is sure the deed was done on church grounds! They married the day she turned 16.
        
        Upon reflection…maybe I just hang around with bad people!! 🙂

Taxpayers’ Union-Curia poll today, from their email:

For the first time in a year, Labour has taken the lead on 35.5% up 1.1 points on last month while National is on 34.8% up 0.4 points on last month.

ACT is down 2.4 points to 9.3% while the Greens have dropped 2.1 points to 5.7%. This is perilously close to the 5% threshold for getting seats in Parliament (unless Chlöe Swarbrick can hold onto her Auckland Central electorate).

New Zealand First, on the other hand, sees a boost of 1.3 points to 4.2% – within striking distance of re-entering Parliament. The Māori Party is on 1.4 per cent – down 0.7 points – and will again have to rely on holding at least one electorate to get any list seats.

Other smaller parties were the New Conservatives on 2.5% ( 1.7 points), TOP on 1.7% (-0.3 points), Vision NZ on 0.8% ( 0.6 points) and Democracy NZ on 0.5% (-0.4 points).

Assuming all current electorates are held, this would mean 49 seats for Labour (up 3 seats on last month), 48 seats for National (up 2), 13 for ACT (down 2), 8 for the Greens (down 2), and 2 for the Māori Party (down 1).

This means that the Centre-Right bloc could still just form a government on 61 seats while the Centre-Left picks up 1 seat to be on 57.

Chris Hipkins’s net favourability rating continues to soar and now sits at 33% up 6 points from last month’s poll. The prime minister also now has a positive net favourability rating with National voters of 13% up 17 points from -4% last month.

Christopher Luxon’s net favourability has increased by 3 points from -5% to -2%. ACT leader, David Seymour, sees a 12-point bounce to 1%.

Seymour huge bounce but ACT down by what appears to the same margin of increase for National plus New Conservatives. NZ First with a shot and I bet that’s all down to the refreshing sanity that Peters has been displaying in his public commentary on Sky News Australia and on The Platform, and I’m not a big fan of his but credit where due.

Green vote down, probably a bit went to Labour, but National might like to take note: Luxon & Co. have been hitting the man-made killer cyclone narrative almost as hard as the Greens and it might be holding them back. National’s Teal flag waving needs to stop. Once the middle class cotton on to the lie of Net Zero and no new roads for their expensive electric cars the backlash won’t be kind to anyone pushing that agenda.

How good is Shane Reti at his job ? How much better would NZ Health Ministries be with him at the helm.

To closely paraphrase H.L. Mencken: nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the New Zealand public.

So, a boyish carrot can easily be made King if the people are hungry enough for boyish carrot. And if you’re objective, he has a certain charm, an apparent lack of artifice, a Mad Magazine type of… thing:

It’s hard to believe that any food provider could be so inept to mistake an uncooked crumbed chicken breast for a cooked product.

I would hazard a guess that the person(s) who packed the lunches was/were untrained /uncertificated food handlers and that the organization with the Kaitaia School lunch contract had lousy/ nil quality control procedures.

    I don’t think the chicken in the Kaitaia case had even been anywhere near a heat source.
    
    Undercooked chicken is not good… but serving uncooked chicken is complete dereliction of the basic task of providing a cooked product.

      I have looked at the photo on the herald and there looks like a little bit of white. So very minimal heat, may of baked the outside just, would explain why the person packing it thought it was cooked and why the kids didn’t realise it wasn’t cooked when picking it up
