As one of the turds in the river of filth, I can partially agree with Auntie Helen. The 24 hour news cycle etc have lead to polarisations in our country and others.

But where I disagree is saying that Cindy was really a victim of this.

Nope, she used this. She was polarising. She was using polarising pressure on the unvaxxed. She has exploited racism for political ends. She was pitting gangs against decent people. She was tweeting that Trump is an arsehole.

If Cindy has a problem with polarisation then she should first look in the mirror.

    It’s a culture war, Ardernwas happy to use the government’s wealth and powers of coercion and violence against people she identified as class enemies , it is only right and just that the people retaliate with what resources they have.
    She denigrated and refused to meet with legitimate protesters, so for people to openly display their disgust and make her public appearances as uncomfortable as possible is a natural consequence.

    I think Jacinda brought all the vitriol on herself. Many of us who are politically opposed to her, did give her credit for the way she handled the terror attack against the mosques, and she was restrained to a degree by the traitor, Peters. However, once she had her majority the worm turned, and she became a despot – not only because of the covid response which was disastrous – but because she displayed her political intentions openly and anyone with eyes to see saw it.
    I’m happy she’s gone, and I wish her well in her intended family life, and may she stay there out of sight of the world.
    But I won’t hold my breath.

        Yep, and any criticism of Ardern is apparently misogyny. Which is in itself misogynistic because surely it’s OK to criticise a woman for being hopeless, or are they too delicate and insecure to take it? My view is that women are not inferior to men, Maori are not inferior to pakeha, and both are therefore open to the same sort of critique. Anything else is patronising and misogynistic/racist.

  The crocodile tears in the NZ mainstream media are nauseating. They are outdoing North Korea for the lies and spin they are putting out.
  Basically Ardern was “amazing” in everything she ever did and every single person who points out any of her multitudinous failures is a far right misogynist. Give me strength.
  
  She ruled by division. She got others to do her dirty work for her, particularly during covid. She alone is responsible for the wrecking of so many friendships and relationships.
  
  She deliberately put policies in place to manipulate and pressurise people into complying with her. Instead of just banning non vaxxed from pubs and clubs etc, she gave these venues the “choice” of either allowing 100 in using passes or a much smaller group without these passes. Even then with stringent rules around sitting down, distancing and masking.
  It was never a choice in the true sense of the word.
  
  It is still causing issues in my local club, nobody wants to talk about it. Presumably because they are now ashamed.
  
  She has ripped the social fabric of this country asunder, it will take decades to mend. She has burdened the country with debt that will take decades to sort out. She has stirred a racial divide which may never be resolved. She has damaged the mental health of a generation of children.
  
  She has managed more devastation in 5 years than most could manage in a lifetime.
  
  No I don’t hate her, I do loathe what she has done.

  Two things that Helen Clark conveniently leaves out of her prepared spin lines:
  
  The use of social media to spread and amplify “hatred and vitriol” started under National’s term. Who can forget the “hatred and vitriol” the leftie trolls directed against the likes of John Key, Paula Bennett, Judith Collins or any of the other National MP’s?
  
  Now of course it was wrong then, just as it is wrong now (under Labour), but Helen is no objective commentator.
  
  The second point is Helen Clark led smear campaigns against public servants and opposition MP (by leaking and feeding the media), she is the last person in the world I want to be hearing discussing “trolls, hatred, vitriol and smears”.
  
  It is a pity today’s MSM forget how she used them to manipulate them to further her own agenda and still give her so much air time.
  
  Could it be because she said to Tim Dower on ZB this morning that she is on a train traveling to Switzerland … presumably to the WEF to further the elite/globalist/green/anti-farming agenda?

  I had a lesson yesterday in the polarisation Jacinda has created.
  
  It was unfortunate that news of her resignation broke during a lunch I was attending with my partner’s extended family, following my father in law’s funeral. I made the mistake of saying something like “well that seals their fate at the election”. One guy went red in the face saying Jacinda was the best PM in the country’s history. Another woman was on the verge of tears.
  
  It was unfortunate as it wrecked the mood of the day, the intention of which was obviously to celebrate the life of my partner’s father. We left pretty quickly after the meal ended with me just about running to the car. 😄
  
  Funny the woman who was really upset announced that she was a passionate supporter of the “Jacinda Party”. She then got on the phone “to break the news to her children”.
  
  This clearly had its funny side but it was a real lesson for me. The two people flipping out silenced the room. It is very likely that there were others in the room who were pleased with the news, but like me were silenced. You can’t start a family brawl at a post funeral lunch 😂
  
  But more seriously, societies that are so fractured are not stable. Some of them end up in civil war. New Zealand now has deep fractures between different groups….
  
  1. The “woke” highly paid urban tribe, mainly in the Wellington public service and in academia.
  
  2. Climate change hysterics, a sub group of group 1
  
  3. Maori elite, in alliance with a sub group of group 1
  
  4. The long term welfare dependant
  
  5. The criminal underclass, a sub group of group 4.
  
  6. Farmers and others in the productive sectors, farm workers, those in food processing etc
  
  7. Hard working people, mainly in the services sectors who know that things are going badly, and who will rejoice at the Government’s demise.
  
  …….
  The next government is going to need to ignore group 1.
  
  It will need to tell group 2 to calm down. The world is not going to end. Blow up the Climate Change Commission and adopt some realistic policies.
  
  Effectively go to war with group 3.
  
  Big carrots and sticks for group 4.
  
  Go to war with group 5.
  
  Reward groups 6 and 7.

      You make a fair point Mike in a general sense, but at the same time a bit unfair in this instance, after all it was a “momentous” occasion, a bit like when say John Key or David Lange resigned, people everywhere feel these events personally as the personalities have been a significant part of people’s lives.
      
      I’m glad BY shared his experiences, as it is interesting to hear what those people thought especially those that were impacted by Ardern’s resignation … as the saying goes “same planet but different worlds”, fascinating!

      Mike, you are curious creature – is the nicest way to put it. A general comment on the day’s top story is paraphrased by yourself like this as massively inappropriate; this is debatable. But you ignore he fact that it was not dragged out any further and BY actually backed off (even physically).
      
      How is it that you can turn around and misconstrue what people literal say or mean on KB on a daily basis?
      Pure trolling, or are you on a spectrum that causes you to misinterpret people in social situations?

      I have never discussed politics with these folk. But with the news of Jacinda’s resignation during lunch, it was hard to avoid. I agree with you. With one guy red in the face and a woman in tears, I backed off very quickly. I was even quicker running to the 2002 Toyota Celica with the redhead trying to keep up 🙂

        From previous posts, I think Benedict’s father-in-law had reached a good age.
        
        Most of us come from robust folk who wouldn’t take offence at a statement like Benedict’s, no matter which side of the political fence we are on.
        
        And funerals aren’t always so serious. Many or most of us have been to funerals where the sermons or eulogies have had us tittering or laughing – without thinking any less of the person now in the coffin.
        
        It’s like tombstone epitaphs of people who have led a full life.
        
        When Milky’s gone to final rest after his last post:

        Equally true for those who were “cancelled” by so called friends for not getting the covid vaxx. Me being one, I was even told by said friend what if so and so won’t see me unless I get the jab, one being her daughter so the mother, my friend stopped all contact. As the saying goes.. “with friends like these…” Ps she’s a lefty yank so I guess I didn’t pay too high a price.

    Agree 100% around the interest groups and how they needs to be approached.
    Also the factor of ‘shy’ people and political opinions openly expressed – it can take some guts.
    Mixed in there, the actually poorly informed/misinformed and low information voters, who might not have the means or confidence to even explore their own thinking. Like a Taiwanese friend who told my Taiwanese wife that she votes Greens. My wife digests the news and is political – she needed to explain about ‘watermelon’ politicians. In the end, the friend was genuinely curious to look a bit harder at what the parties really stand for and was going to look online and go beyond the soft branding.
    
    So you can’t work on those fanatics that are red in the face over politics, but you can nudge along the edges.
    
    As far as someone who goes red in the face though, in the context of a funeral you are showing tact in not drawing a topic out further.
    …..Some of the people there would be mourning for Cindy.
    In all other occasions though, it is worth pointing out just how badly things are going even for those issues that matter to Labour voters (and decent people in general) such as basic dignity/housing/education/health etc.
    Sadly, the welded-on supporter’s best response is to say that “the other lot aren’t better”, or that “Labour suffers from National’s previous mismanangement”. Both lazy excuses and nonsense of course.
    One thing is to turn conversation away from Ardern as a figure or topic and focus on the Labour party itself. Ardern was a shield for their incompetence.
    Labour’s true face is now left exposed to the sunlight, and it is an ugly & stupid visage which should repell a lot of basically sensible people.

      You make an excellent point. I should have included this group separately in my list. IMO the two badly affected family members at lunch yesterday were in this group. Unlike me, they are not immersed in several area of public policy. I do not mean that to come across as conceit on my part. It is just reality. They get on with their lives. One a mother of two teenagers, the other a retied west coaster. They both have secure incomes and just live their lives. The precariousness of the country is not apparent.
      
      I have told this story before here, but I will repeat it. Not long after I arrived in New Zealand I met a Greek seismologist. She had escaped Greek after the Greek economy meltdown in 2008. She told me that she was totally unaware of how close the country was to collapse. Sure she read stories about mounting government debt, but for her it was all abstract. She had a comfortable life. Then one day she went to her bank to withdraw money from the ATM. There was no money. And remember, this was an educated person

    I agree with your summation BY. Far too much has been given to group 1 and their subgroups. We now see bloated ministries and pointless government departments with money thrown at overpaid bureaucrats, their philosophies and their vanity projects all at the expense of Frontline workers, primary producers and private businesses. Furthermore they are sick of criminals being given an easy ride.
    
    Jacinda and this Labour government essentially lost the plot and got the balance wrong. The answer is not more money, but a gross downsizing of ministry staff, not stiffing your main export earner, channelling more resources into the coalface of Frontline services (education, health, police, corrections etc), strengthening policing of criminals and harsher (more realistic) punishment of offenders.

    I agree with you on all, except your recommendation “Effectively go to war with group 3”.
    
    There is no way that a National led government is going to get into a highly antagonistic feud with the Maori elite, most of whom are also well recognised iwi leaders. Yes, there will be forthright discussions, but National will want a broadly respectful relationship with Iwi. Just think who is the latest National MP is. A well recognised leader within Tainui.
    
    Ideally National will want to settle with Ngaphui. That won’t be easy. It will require a respectful and meaningful relationship to have any chance of success.
    
    Obviously National will deal with broader Crown/Iwi relations differently to Labour, but they will nevertheless take up a great deal of time for the government. They certainly did so under both previous National governments (Bolger/Shipley and Key/English). It would be naive to think it will be radically different under the next National led government.
    
    For instance there is zero chance that National will agree to Act’s position for a referendum on these issues. Not with National’s heritage on Crown/Iwi relationships.

      Presumably, then, under National, we could expect to see Maori language increasingly foisted on all New Zealanders, replacement of place names, and racial separation in such key services as health?
      
      These will be election issues, with ACT and, if still healthy, Peters, competing with National for support from voters to the right of Labour.
      
      What if either of these, or both of them, go hell for leather in electorate seats as well?

      Wayne, there is deep and growing concern in the country about the whole Treaty industry, including never ending “settlements”, now morphing into a major grievance industry. This is already creating significant division and building both separatism and tribalism (rule by an ethnic elite). For the good of the country, it needs to end, much sooner rather than later.

    I never enter into a discussion of politics with someone who’s in the Cindy fan club. Simple reason is that you can’t reason with the unreasonable.

  Some comments and observations.
  Im in 2 minds about Cindy going. On the one I have The Witch is Dead playing on loop in my head and on the other she has deprived me of seeing her give a concession speech come 14 October.
  
  On the other hand she is one of our most successful Labour PMs in that she has won 2 elections and not lost an election. I have been thinking back and whilst Clark won 3 she lost the 4th. So Cindy is a non defeated Labour PM and I cant think of another.

A couple of “morning after” reflections.

Leadership that is more style than substance is bound to fail early. Leaders who serve in genuine commitment to others last longer than those whose commitment is based more on self-gratification. Great leaders are rarely concerned about public appearances and the adulation of the people but are so consumed in their service they do not feel the need for constant exposure. Capable leadership is remembered for what it achieved not what was said or the fashion of its delivery. “Nothing left in the tank” indicates a lack of preparedness, a lack of maturity and life experience, too great a self-focus, no quality support team, a career built on ephemeral and shallow ideals rather than sterling values born in the harsh, hurly-burly of menial work and life’s impositions.

Left wing leaders tend to focus on human rights rather that human values, minorities not majorities, image instead of the hard kernel, react rather than proact. They are typically too selfish to consider succession, too distracted by internal fractiousness, too dismissive of history’s rough lessons, too blinded by ideology, too disparaging of tradition.

  She can’t promise a thing. Also her ‘personal’ promises such as no capital gains taxes on my watch are off the table too. The new leader as far as he or she is able to needs to review policies and items in the legislative pipeline to ensure they are appealing to as much of the electorate as possible. This would also include slowing down, modifying or halting things already in place such as three waters.
  Jacinda went into the 2017 election with virtually a ‘blank cheque’ to re-shape the campaign as she saw fit since defeat was staring Labour in the face.
  The issue this time around would be whether all elements of the Labour Party are prepared to give its leader a similar ‘blank cheque’. If not the new leader has a hell of a job on his or her hands.

[T]he two sides agreed that Mr. Biden’s personal attorneys would inspect the homes, notify the Justice Department as soon as they identified any other potentially classified records, and arrange for law-enforcement authorities to take them.”

      He will have trouble sourcing them. I do not believe for one moment that Jacinda or other Ministers have received any ‘dirty’ money. I would perceive her as a fairly frugal person in her personal life meaning she would have accumulated modest wealth (especially from her Parliamentary career) putting her in the FatFIRE category ie she can retire now and maintain her usual living standard.

It’s understandable that people are celebrating this wee respite of what seems like a ‘win’ with Ardern’s resignation…but is it a win, or is it just the continuation of a structured plan of the NZ globalist cohort? I predicted this last year that before the next election that there would be a change of guard, a change of globalist face to lure Kiwis into a false sense of security, to make them think they are winning…and yet, in reality, it will be the globalists playing out their ‘tag team’ plan to progress global governance and tyranny. The way Jacinda’s supporters are responding, and the way she is conducting herself seem all too calm and pleasant ‘AS IF’ they knew it was coming and ‘AS IF” they are all playing ‘a part’, ‘a role’ in the script… Is it just me, or are you thinking the same way, do you smell the rat?   Well yesterday the MSM had articles on food prices having their highest price increases in 32 years.
  
  I remember the anguish then and how the (then Lange/Palmer) Labour Govt were being blamed …. but today’s MSM no longer link such bad news to the Govt of the day, Ardern/Robertson’s Labour.
  
  Granted the weather has caused issues with fruit and vegetable production, but Ardern/Robertson’s Labour have done as much damage if not more by their incompetence when it came to not allowing in overseas workers, their “green” policies seeing transport costs increasing, spiraling wage demands, worker shortages, not intervening with the Marsden Point closure (like they did with privately owned Tiwai Point to keep them running) and resulting shortages and escalating costs to import products, no policy or measures to improve productivity, wasteful spending etc.

So much talk about Ardern being driven out by hatred and misogyny, and that we should be ashamed for driving her out of the job.

Guess what. I resent the implication that my dissatisfaction with her as PM was driven by any of these factors.

She was not up to the job, and if you want evidence, you need only consider the fact that empowered with an absolute majority, she achieved next to nothing.

Chris Trotter summed up the Ardern Legacy perfectly yesterday, and it’s a great lesson for all politicians.

” She never appeared to grasp that announcing policy is not the same as implementing it. Press releases do not build houses. Speeches do not end poverty. In the end, it was Jacinda’s constant failure to deliver that made it impossible for her to go on.

If you say “Let’s do this!”, then, Dear God, you have to do it!”

  I took for her statement yesterday that she would hang around as an MP until April to avoid a by-election in Mt Albert.
  Then she will leave.
  Then there will be a scuffle to get the nomination for Mt Albert as that will guarantee a seat in the next Parliament. On that subject I see a scrap between Helen White and Camilla Belich taking place for the seat.

      Claire Szabo lives in the greenlane area. Helen White lives in Mt Albert (round the corner from me so it happens). And I think that Camilla Belich lives somewhere close by as well.

Pretty cavalier way to treat all those people who voted for you. Might not play out in favour of whoever eventually becomes the Labour Party candidate in 6 months time.

1. Mahuta’s open defiance of Ardern last year has shown just how weak Ardern was.

2. Ardern had been shielded from everything from day one. Only kindy visits and trips handing out money.

3. It’s been a shock to her seeing the reality of NZ hating on her and knowing she was getting wiped out at the election.

4. What a coward. Wrecks the joint and then leaves it to someone else to clean it up.

5. Your legacy is leaving NZ it’s most divided, racist and broke in New Zealand’s history.

What a mess to be cleaned up. You did that.

She resigned whilst Helen was in Davos on the taxpayers funds.
Am I wrong but it is not the Labour Caucus who make the decsion for the next Leader and Prime Minister.
It is the Labour Party alone who decide – listen to President Jill Day this morning who tactfully and gently explained that it is the Labour Electoraete Committee, who, under the revised Party Constituancy who will decide.
That is the total wider LEC members who will have their say and it will not be by a Parliamentary Labour Caucus who decide.
I have an LEC person (dog walker) and Union Leader who will have their say, but dobtful if by Sunday this can be achieved.
Robertson will be persuaded to stay as Acting until new Leader is announced – Union person I expect as remember they got bamboozled by the Caucus over Ardern’s appointment five years ago.
Dog waiting so must go.

  I thought the wider membership, LEC and unions had to be involved.
  
  And it was to be only, say within weeks of an election, that the Labour Caucus could make a decision (like they did in 2017 when Andrew Little stepped down and Jacinda took over the leadership).
  
  So what gives and why did the MSM uncritically “repeat” what PM Ardern said yesterday, and why not much follow up from the MSM today as to how the process works?

    The Labour Caucus has seven days to ascertain whether one individual holds more than 2/3rds support within caucus to become the new leader and Prime Minister. A caucus vote for a new leader will occur in 3 days on 22 January.
    If no one receives 2/3rds support within caucus, the leadership contest will go to the wider Labour membership. This can happen in a short time frame and the Prime Minister has recommended to the Party that the process, if required, conclude no later than 7 February.

  I think only one US president has had two non-sequential terms.
  Harold Wilson had non-consecutive terms as UK PM.
  Jamaica has had alternating PMs.

Ardern looked terrible yesterday. I don’t mean the tears and fraught stress of making her announcement, but an underlying physical distress in her skin and face shape. Symptoms that should not be there after 4 weeks hiding away over Christmas to make her decision.

I believe her tank ran dry at Christmas when she discovered the sycophants in Wellington were lying about her popularity slump. She was never going to recover and she finally got to read the provincial room herself.

Arderns’ Three Waters and co-government afforded to just 16% of the NZ population was a splash too far.
Not forgetting the attack on Mum and Dads’ One or two Investment Properties for their retirement.
When she and her ilk cancelled any normal business interest payment deductions.
That put up rents and at the same time crucified the Residential Property Market.
Just Two instances of so much angst and WTF is going on amongst needless much more pain and hurt to so many NZs who gave her a landslide majority in 2020.Feeling in most peoples minds .She betrayed so much good will.

  * During her resignation announcement listed reducing children poverty as one of her achievements (Surprising couldn’t instantly recall many.)
  * Has a partner who presents ‘Fish of the Day.’

Every so often Andrea Vance of Stuff shocks me when she remembers she is a journalist and not some Pravda-type apparatchik.
Her column yesterday on Jacinda Ardern’s resignation was bang-on.
It was the most clear-eyed, too, as the rest of the paid-for media ran paeans of praise for the soon-to-be ex-prime minister.
Poor Audrey Young. The poor woman sounded distraught in the piece she wrote.
I must also make special mention for Josie Pagani, a Labourite (Labouright?) who commented in Stuff yesterday.
She wrote a column that more of our Jacinda-fixated media should have written – that Jacinda really didn’t achieve all that much for all the glittering, glistering coverage she got in the media.
As for Jacinda: congratulations on your decision to be there at the school gate when your daughter starts school. She will appreciate it.

2. I have seen 2 x %’s quoted for a new Labour leader’s needed majority:
In Richard Shaw’s piece in today’s NZ Herald – he states 60%
In Thomas Coughlan’s piece in today’s NZ Herald – he states 2/3rd or 66%

  1. I can’t see why not, but it would be so politically damaging as to be not worth doing so.
  2. 2/3 of MPs’ support required. If not, then goes to wider party membership. That’s the last thing the caucus want: weeks of rudderless infighting. I expect to see the Maori caucus take advantage of this and get their pick selected.

In the last few decades China and India between them have lifted hundreds of millions of their citizens out of poverty through free enterprise – meeting the needs and wants of others in a free exchange of value.

This is highly commendable. The people concerned are now living happier, longer and healthier lives as a result.

And of note all of this is self-sustaining, should they continue to offer quality good and services at competitive prices in comparison to others.

Of all the many, many things Labour and Ardern promised in desperate attempts to get themselves elected in 2011, 2014 and 2017 the vast majority have not only not been achieved but have in fact become worse.

I see already though that the organ grinders and clapping monkeys have started trumpeting Ardern having ‘halved’ child poverty and that will be her legacy etc etc.

But has she really? Or has she merely papered over the cracks? Has she merely put a sticking plaster over a cancerous sore?

If, as I believe to be the case, that the vast majority of NZ households with children have gone from an income of less than 50% of the median income to over 50% through Ardern increasing the benefit levels is this a real achievement? Or is it just smoke and mirrors?

What is sustainable about this? Shouldn’t the objective be the lowering of the numbers of Nee Zealanders dependent on their fellow citizens for their living? Isn’t that the more worthy goal, particularly for the people affected? By any measure people live happier, healthier and longer lives when productive.

So to the clapping monkeys, forgive me for not joining you in your adulation for Ardern.

As far as raising benefits or mandating increases to minimum wage levels, or shoving through coercive ‘fair pay’ legislation at the stroke of a pen – well, any monkey could do that.

She never had any control over her Maori Caucus and they played her like a one-string guitar (on beat, but never in tune) and she couldn’t handle that. IMO, they set her up to fail in order that they could further their racist policies.
That said, I doubt there will be any further attempts at advancing Maori separatism legislation before October.

  The real worry for me is that like her or not, I suspect Ardern was worth 10 points on Labour’s poll rating – she had strong support among women, particularly young women. I suspect without her they are in the very low 20’s and possibly even nudging into the high teens. I think Labour know this – I suspect they know they will be destroyed at the election. What this means is they could be out of power for a very long time. My fear is that they know this and realise that with their majority, the only opportunity they will have for radical separatist laws is to enact them before the election.

RNZ spent hours this morning boringly banging on about so-called vitriol instead of the abject failure of Ardern to live up to her promises. Remember when she told us just before Xmas she was definitely returning to fight this years election?
As for the vitriol, Fox News said something about her teeth. Shrieks of horror!
I always thought it fair enough she was asked questions about being pregnant while PM.
In fact, for most of her time in office she was asked hardly any questions at all, apart from patsy ones from the Tova and Jessica fan girls.
Ardern was an ambitious politician who got many free passes because she was a woman.
History may not be so kind.

  The immense failures of Labour under Ardern require no commentary – just data presented in a few graphs; govt debt, PISA rankings, working age welfare recipient numbers, house prices, crime rates, surgical wait times, business sentiment, house prices, time spent in covid lockdown (after they initiated it 2months later than they should have and located MIQ within Auckland)

  Ardern was an abysmal leader – wanting to be praised and loved by everyone, fundamentally lazy with a bad work ethic, poorly educated/ignorant, no respect for foundational underpinnings of democratic govt (like so many on left). And a complete failure in management due to her desire to be loved by everyone. Honestly seems like a Narcissist:

I don’t believe for a minute that she resigned because she’s worn out/doesn’t have a full tank etc. Either she knew they would lose the election and wanted to get out before the humiliation or like some have suggested wanted to put Co governance on hold and the Maori caucus refused.

CDC passes the point where malfeasance can be mistaken for incompetence

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) didn’t include serious adverse events like heart inflammation on post-vaccination surveys even though the agency knew the issues could be linked to COVID-19 vaccines documents show.

Even before the surveys were rolled out in December 2020 after the first vaccines were authorized, the CDC knew that myocarditis—a form of heart inflammation since confirmed as being caused by the Pfizer and Moderna shots—and other serious adverse events were of “special interest” when it came to the vaccines, according to a newly disclosed version of the protocol for the survey system.

The Nov. 19, 2020, protocol (pdf) for V-safe, the survey system, lists myocarditis, stroke, death, and a dozen “prespecified medical conditions.” The protocol was obtained by the Informed Consent Action Network (ICAN), a nonprofit that seeks transparency around health information. All of the conditions can cause severe symptoms.

V-safe is a system of surveys that was introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic to monitor vaccine safety. It was developed and is managed by the CDC.

Updated versions of the protocol list the same 15 adverse events.

None of the conditions were included in the actual surveys.

None of this ever reported in mainstream media.

The thread a couple of days ago about light EV RUC exemption was interesting. Clearly a lot of the respondents didn’t know who kicked it off.

It was Simon Bridges, when he was the National Minister for Transport.

Originally the incentive was to be until the end of 2022 or when 2% of the light fleet were EVs.

It has been changed to March 2024. MoT fleet stats have just over 1.5% of the light fleet electric, plugin hybrid or fuel cell as of Dec 2022.

In my view, one of the massive lessons New Zealanders have an opportunity to learn is never, ever, ever judge a politician on what they say they’re going to do. On their promises. On their ‘aspirations’. Or on ‘how they make you feel.’

Always, always, always judge them on their results actually delivered.

If more and more New Zealanders understood this we would, collectively, be less prone to electing charlatans and snake oil and monorail salesmen – who promise the world and deliver next to or actually nothing, as has been our recent experience.

I wonder too what Labour Party MPs and apparatchiks make of the last five years?

Increasingly, it now looks almost certain that they are to be routed at the election with great swathes of them to lose their jobs, booted out by a public who have lost all confidence in Labour’s ability to deliver improved outcomes for New Zealanders.

I wonder if they will feel chastised? Remorseful? Regretful that after years of bagging Key and English and promising to do so much better, when it came to their turn they have failed miserably, their promises discarded and the country in a far worse state than when they inherited it.

And, just as importantly, will they change their behaviour in future and learn to show just a touch of humility or contrition instead of the mindless and endless braying that only they have all the answers?

Inflation at its highest level for 30 years and interest rates rising.
Food prices with their highest annual rise in 32 years.
Business confidence the lowest in 52 years, which is the history of that metric.

It’s hardly the platform for a successful election campaign, and to be fair, you can’t really blame Ardern for having recognised that. She deserves some credit for realising that she no longer had what was needed to leads the country, although to be fair there have been doubts about that for some time.

We have an interesting next few months ahead of us.

    Agree with you – no credit is due and I’m a bit disappointed at the wall to wall coverage of her resignation like she was a later day saint.
    
    I had the pleasure of meeting Ardern and Nikki Kaye years back when they were campaigning for the Auckland Central seat – must have been the 2008 election I think. Kaye was ok, nothing particularly impressive but was reasonably knowledgeable. Ardern was thick as two short planks – I was appalled that the NZ political system allowed someone like her to stand – if she was Labour’s best bet for Auckland Central then it really didn’t say too much for those she beat in the selection race.
    
    Since then, nothing Ardern has done, either as an MP nor as PM has made me question my initial perception of her as stupid, ill informed and totally out of her depth. My particular low point was when she shamelessly used the Norwegian massacre (Brevik I think it was) and got some kids to release red balloons on parliaments steps.
    
    She’s done well for herself and made a shit-ton of money and will obviously be at the UN, or something similar, by the end of the year, but the biggest disappointment for me is not seeing her smug face when they get crushed at the polls later this year! She’s caused a lot of damage to this country in her time in charge – I really wish folks would remember that and stop with the saint worship!

  Can you imagine the outrage, and rightly so in my opinion, if we they changed the phrase they’ve used in the last day from ‘next PM…..should be Maori’ to ‘next PM…..should be white’ or ‘male’ or ‘heterosexual’ etc. It would be a complete nuclear meltdown.
  
  I’m all for equality of opportunity – I despise racism, sexism etc – but the left never seem to see the inherent contradiction in their statements promoting reverse-sexism or reverse-racism etc. Just because you favour brown skin and view one ethnicity as superior or requiring special treatment or right, doesn’t mean you aren’t racist – it’s a bloody textbook definition of racism!

Ardern’s resignation is only the first step of many that needs to play out. The next step is a Nat/ACT government with a strong influence from ACT. Only after 100 days of a new government can we get a sense of where the country is actually heading.

Apologise for the mandates , miq, the not meeting protestors ,
Everything else aside , crime , economy , co governance , marsden point , oil and gas , schools etc …… she needs to address that festering site
If she doesn’t do this she will be HOUNDED for the rest of her life and her family won’t know peace
People are forgiving , if she can’t bring herself to do this then I’m sorry jacinda , you brought this on yourself

As a conservative I am glad to see the back of Jacinda Ardern. Some of my personal lowlights were her extreme Liberal positions which included:

She voted against a ban on sex selection as a grounds for abortion.

She voted against an amendment that aborted babies born alive should receive medical care.

She voted for self identity of gender being a simple online declaration

She voted for a ban on gender conversion therapies.

She voted for the attempted entrenchment of race based control of water services in knowledge of legal advice that such an entrenchment was probably illegal.

She voted for a late amendment to race based water control to greatly increase the scope of that control to include the seabed and rivers then claimed she and her party didn’t understand the wording despite tabling the amendment.

She supported the adoption of critical race theory as a cornerstone of the history curriculum.

She adopted an unusual position that free speech is a weapon of war.

There was much more from extreme lockdown positions and manipulation and control of the media. She may well have been a spectator to the true driving forces in her party.

Foreign influence on our schools curriculum? (Apologies – long thread.)

Newshub reports: “EDUCATION
Calls for urgent change to school curriculums to teach students how to identify conspiracy theories, fake news”

” Tohatoha has been teaching students and librarians to spot both (dis and misinformation) and question what they see online.”

“Tohatoa’s CEO Mandy Henk said people need to analyse content when they see it.

“Who is behind the information, what is the evidence, and then what do others say.”

The not-for-profit organisation uses education to combat the spread of misinformation around COVID-19.”

All good questions so who is behind TohaToha and Mandy Henk and the “truth ” they are spreading to our children.

Newshub says “Tohatoha received funding during the pandemic. It runs 10-week programmes with 24 schools per term, but its funding is set to run out.”

But what Newshub leaves out is the Disinformation Programme is funded by the US Embassy. Tohatoha’s accounts show they received $75k from the US embassy.

The US Embassy tweets “It’s ‘A Bit Sus’ eh? We’re proud to support an addition to this awesome @TohatohaNZ program which provides young people w/ the tools to identify #disinformation & #misinformation through fun & interactive escape room challenges.”

Tohatoha’s website says: The programme comes from the University of Washington. “Chris Coward, Senior Principal Research Scientist at University of Washington and project lead for the escape room, says the activity was designed to have participants personally experience various misinformation tactics and so realise their own vulnerabilities.”

In other articles Chris Coward says, ” At a recent talk I asked my audience to raise their hands if they had a family member or close friend who believes that Covid-19 vaccines are unsafe, that the U.S. presidential election was stolen, or holds some other conviction that runs counter to all known evidence. I then asked the full room of raised hands how many of them were able to change those people’s minds by presenting them with facts and logical reasons?”

Chris reckons ALL EVIDENCE show the vaccines are safe and that the election was not stolen. Obviously there were safety issues with the vaccine. His statements lack balance. And the last election their was censorship of key election material which potentially influenced the election.

But it is a bit concerning that foreign embassies are funding “information” courses in our schools.

Second, who is Mandy Henk. She is CEO of ToaToa and also writes articles for the Herald , spinoff, and Newshub. She is quoted as a disinformation spokesperson and comments on our elections and protests.. She makes public submissions on behalf of Toatoa about internet safety, and copyright laws. The Spinoffsays “Mandy Henk is Tohatoha CEO. She is a librarian, writer, and advocate for a healthy and vibrant Commons”

But Spinoff leaves out the key info. A librarian for where?

She is a libararian of Indiana’s Te Pauw university. And she is still current on their staff page. She is most famous and awarded as the “Founding member of the Occupy Wall street Library ” and being arrested at the US Pipeline protests.

So it’s just interesting that a prominent US protest organiser and the US embassy are now delivering disinformation courses in our schools.

And the media aren’t really being transparent about that. Which other countries are allowed to deliver media training to NZ school kids.

Jacinda Ardern has announced she is stepping down as the prime minister of New Zealand, saying it would be ‘doing a disservice’ to continue in the position she has held over the past five years.

‘I know when I have enough left in the tank to do it justice,’ she said during a hastily arranged press conference. Her fellow MPs will have to scramble over the coming days to find a successor. Most of them must also be steeling themselves for an electoral loss that was increasingly possible at this year’s general election in October, but which now seems rather more firmly on the cards.

How different it all looked in the South Seas just 12 months ago. Ardern appeared all but sure of comfortably nabbing a third three-year parliamentary term for Labour. Gone were the memories of her party languishing in opposition for the better part of a decade before she propelled it on a winning path in 2017.

Ardern’s initial electoral success owed as much to the mathematical vagaries of the country’s oddball electoral model as it did to the new leader’s energetic campaigning. Still, there was no doubting the popular mandate she secured at the next election.

In 2020, on the back of what was widely seen to be her masterful handling of the pandemic, Labour not only trounced its conservative National party rivals but mustered an outright majority of votes. It was an unheard-of achievement under New Zealand’s mixed-member proportional representation system, which typically requires fiddly coalition deals.

Even after it became clear the zero-Covid jig was up, Ardern’s government persisted, shuttering much business activity while offering little succour to the million New Zealanders who remained stranded abroad. In recent months, the impact of such a policy has been noticeable. By pretty much any economic measure today, save the country’s historically low unemployment rate, New Zealand is in worse shape than it was five years ago.

A sustained property boom, in which housing became largely unaffordable for first-time buyers, has given way to a widespread property bust, in which many homeowners now find themselves in negative equity and unable to sell. During the bust, as with the boom, the perception has been of a government nonplussed and unable to move much beyond the old script of ‘kindness’ and fuzzy promises of a brighter day yet to come.

National debt levels are also high. A deep recession beckons. And many of the country’s now uncharacteristically shabby major cities are currently roiled by an unprecedented crime wave, particularly in the retail sector where vehicular ram-raids and violence against storekeepers have become depressingly commonplace.

Rumbling in the recent background has been a series of dismal political polls indicating likely electoral victory for the National party this year. Labour has three days to find a replacement for Ardern. The outgoing leader’s most obvious successor, Grant Robertson, has ruled himself out of the running. Whoever’s lucky enough – or unlucky enough as the case may be – to make the final cut, he or she will be a virtual unknown abroad and not terribly more prominent within New Zealand. Talk about an empty tank.

The next few days will be interesting as the true story starts to come out. It’s too early at the moment to get anything other than the spin the labour media team are feeding to the media and they are swallowing. But come out it will and it’s sounds very much like a stand-off with the Maori caucus. Nanaia and Willie probably have no option other than to call an early election before they self destruct, otherwise Labour will completely dissolve into its different factions. Shame

Yesterday I ran afoul of a mod (unintentionally, but still I did) by raising a parallel between a recent resigned person and a particularly notorious doctor from the 40s who experimented on unwilling patients.

Since that analogy is clearly out of bounds, I’d like to present another, because I think we have all been the victims of a very serious and unfortunate experiment with the mandated vaccination in the last couple of years.

Those old enough will remember the “Unfortunate Experiment at National Women’s Hospital” and the sequela including the public enquiry in 1987. The findings of Judge Sylvia Cartwright were that “an unethical experiment had been carried out on large numbers of women for over 20 years”.

It’s not my intention here within the constraints of space, to revisit that episode. It is my intention here to point out the utterly complete hypocrisy of all the people who (correctly in principle) objected to those patients not being asked to give informed consent for an experimental approach to a particular medical problem, now being completely silent about the vaxjab. With damage now on a literally countrywide scale.

And now for something completely different. There’s been no publicity in New Zealand that I can find, about an incredibly drastic revision of fitness to fly guidelines for commercial pilots. The FAA did, if you’ll pardon the pun, just slide under the radar the way they have retrospectively and unilaterally changed cardiac guidelines for pilots’ health.

Specifically, in the October 2022 version of the FAA Guide for Aviation Medical Examiners, the FAA widened the EKG parameters beyond the normal range (from a PR max of .2) to — unlimited. That’s right, no limit.

Now I’m not an electrophysiologist, but it seems to me there is only one reason they can possibly explain widening this parameter; if they stuck with the previous parameter, that have to ground too many pilots because of damage to their heart. Gosh, what could possibly have caused damage to these pilots hearts? / sarc.

I have attempted to find out what has happened here in New Zealand but to no avail. No one will talk, if indeed the question has even been asked, about myocarditis and pilots.

Truly, the Covid jab is the Gom Jabbar of the House of Labour (classical ‘Dune’ reference).

  Are you an Air New Zealand shareholder? If so you could try submitting a shareholder inquiry to the board and/or for the AGM.
  
  With the FAA having widened EKG parameters in the US (I had understood to a PR max of 0.3) there is no doubt in my mind that this was to stave off a unprecedented loss of pilots due to failed cardiac assessments.
  
  Given Air New Zealand’s no jabs no job policy, the collective health of our pilots will no different to that of US-based pilots, as I would be VERY surprised of Air New Zealand hasn’t similarly lowered the cardiac-health bar.

This type of development ought to be made public because it speaks to the risks that we were forced to take by all the people – far too many of them clinicians, medical politicians and other oathbound adherents of my former NZ profession – who thought they alone knew best and drove a truck through informed consent, bodily autonomy, herd immunity, the Nuremberg code and the Geneva Convention.

The self serving whining from our elite celebrities, academia and media about threats, and misogyny being the reason the PM resigned is a great indicator of how far removed they are from the ordinary New Zealand, who still exists by the way outside Wellington.

They cannot possibly conceive that her and their “progressive” policies are not welcomed by all. They have no idea how this governments policies are impacting on the average Joe and Josephine and therefore they look for excuses which the Labour media unit and the media have given them as a deflection from the real reasons. I am sure there have been threats but that unfortunately is what comes from being the PM, most will be from deranged blowhards and not credible and she is well protected by experienced security personnel.

I dare say the PM’s of Great Britain, Australia and Canada and the President of the USA have more serious and credible threats on their lives but manage to keep working.

  We all remember it went on for years and years, about him being the bagman for foreign interests, only in power to deliver results for Wall Street – uncaring, evil, shonkey, donkey etc etc ad infinitum.
  
  I never once heard or saw a concerted effort from the left in NZ to call for calm heads, to turn down the vitriol. Not once.
  
  But now they all act in unison.
  
  It seems that within the next year we will again have a National PM, indeed a Christian, white, middle-aged man with a business background.
  
  I wonder what the levels of derangement we’ll see and hear from the NZ left when this happens?
  
  I wonder what level of vitriol, bile, hatred and personal attacks we’ll see?
  
  And, I wonder if we’ll see the same lefty elites and commentators calling for their mates to back off?

I was listening to the special News items following midday report on RNZ.
The interview was about the abuse ex-Green MP Sue Bradford had and still receives.
The interview was quickly closed down as soon as Sue mentioned that amongst her abusers were Labour Party folk.

(I’ll try and locate a copy of the interview later in the day… it’s not up on the RNZ site yet).

Today is a sad day. Not whether you are joyous or sad about the Prime Minister resigning but how divided this country is. Yes we have had our differences and having lived through the Piggy era but nothing like today. It was fun taking on Piggy and his supporters but there was no malice like today. The vitriol from both sides of the political spectrum is frankly frightening. Has social media, blogs created this I don’t know. Flicking through the comments on mainstream media and in sites like this is worrying. A long time Labour supporter although not of this government or its leader its not the country I came to in 1970. Yes maybe I am living in the past and NZ and the world have moved on. Another old dinosaur looking at the past in rose tinted glasses.

  Re divisiveness – I think modern social media does have an outsize role in exacerbating divisions. Although there have always been very bitter social, economic and political divisions, it is much easier now to connect with media narratives that feed intense emotional reactions.
  Re living in the past – I think people have always looked back to the good old days. The pace of change may have accelerated though, but perhaps there will always be a tendency to decry the changes that one disapproves, while thinking the changes one likes would have happened anyway.

Here a few quotes about a famous political leader. Can you guess who it is?

Okay, I tricked you. I changed the gender in the quotes above.

The beatific smiler, kindly and simple, was Saloth Sâr – later known as Pol Pot. He was one of the worst monsters in history.

Although 20 – 25% of the population in Cambodia died during Pol Pot’s reign, some historians argue that this was not a genocide. By driving millions of people from the cities overnight into the fields, it was almost inevitable that millions of people would starve, but many historians don’t believe that mass starvation was Pol Pot’s intention. He sabotaged the economy and society, but he did this through his ignorance and ideology, rather than his malice, it is claimed.

How does Cindy compare to the communist beatific smiler Pol Pot?

Well, Ms Ardern didn’t send all the city dwellers into the fields to starve (although if she suggested it, the Cindy cult who support her would probably go).

However, Cindy’s intent was almost identical to Pol Pot’s aims for Year Zero.

Everyone would be equal in a society where all things were the possession of the State, and no individual owned anything. “Zero for him, zero for you – that is communism”, as Pol Pot advocated.

We can argue about whether Cindy’s decisions were driven by malice, or ideology. Irrespectively, the legacy is the same.

Cindy has vandalised New Zealand’s economy and society, very badly. It may take decades to recover.

So long, Cindy. I won’t miss you.

Two thoughts:
I cannot recall JA participating in any honest discussion or debate on any subject during her terms as PM. I can recall publicity stunt kindy and school visits and pomp laden overseas trips that as far as I am aware resulted in no notable achievements. I shall not miss her for a moment.
On Hipkins, often described as “a safe pair of hands” and “Mr Fixit”. What has he achieved? As far as I recall, he has shut down a number of embarrassing situations and negative publicity has dried up as a result. What has he actually fixed? the list remains blank but I would welcome suggestions.

The One Ring in the LOTR resulted in corruption to evil. Is it really possible that one ring, or one person perhaps, could corrupt us all towards evil?

Yes, I think so.

At the end of the third movie, the evil ring falls into the lava in Mount Doom, destroying it.

As Frodo and Sam watched the evil ring melting, how would they feel, as the shadow over the world lifted?

Yesterday, CAKE found out. A shadow, or great evil, lifted from the world.

The air today seems cleaner, the Sun brighter, the world a better place.

I can’t put my finger on what has changed so much over the past day or so…

I see that STUFF is currently inundated with all sorts of articles about Jacinda Ardern. Predictable I suppose.
But their best article is one about a 2.7kg cane toad found in Queensland.
Actually, I got more satisfaction from the cane toad item than the zillions about Ardern. There must be a moral of some sort there somewhere…..
