  There are plenty of skeletons in the Alberta closet for her to discover. For example, over decades the recorded cause of death being “Unknown” was (IIRC) 10th on the list. Post Covid vaccination period that same cause of death is now the top of the list by some margin. Why? Wouldn’t that be useful to ferret out?

I expect Ms Ardern and M Macron will be closely watching the pending court case Republican National Committee v Google to make sure their research project into social media algorithms takes account of evidence of discrimination, if any. If there is evidence of discrimination will that be trumpeted as a ‘weapon of war’?

“Co-governance”
What is the hold-up Willie, or is it a “hold-up”?
Several articles on “co-governance” somewhere get around to mentioning, like this one –
The draft plan, if approved in full, would be the Government’s response to the UN commitment the National Party signed New Zealand up to in 2010 under then-Prime Minister John Key [1]

So it is just forfulling an undertaking that then-Prime Minister John Key committed them to.

But the Key Government at the time stated –

“New Zealand has always supported the overall aspirations of the declaration, and we already implement most provisions contained within it,” says Mr Key.
The statement in support of the declaration:
• acknowledges that Maori hold a special status as tangata whenua, the indigenous people of New Zealand and have an interest in all policy and legislative matters;
• affirms New Zealand’s commitment to the common objectives of the declaration and the Treaty of Waitangi; and
• reaffirms the legal and constitutional frameworks that underpin New Zealand’s legal system, noting that those existing frameworks define the bounds of New Zealand’s engagement with the declaration [2]

But –
Willie Jackson’s preparing for a frank conversation with the authors of a draft United Nations’ Declaration Plan, who are now four months behind Cabinet’s schedule
The Māori Development Minister is hopeful the authors of a draft United Nations’ Declaration Plan will have a proposal he can take to Cabinet when he meets with them on Friday.
In June a first draft was delivered to Jackson, but the minister never took it to Cabinet for consideration because he knew his colleagues wouldn’t support it.

So why is Willie having a certain amount of trouble?
If they are fulfilling Nation’s commitment, nothing in “co-governance” should be beyond “the legal and constitutional frameworks that underpin New Zealand’s legal system, noting that those existing frameworks define the bounds of New Zealand’s engagement with the declaration” [1]

Nothing should be outside the bounds of the Treaty of Waitangi .
Simple
Otherwise it breaks the Treaty

  I’m really getting fed up with this. New Zealand has NO obligations or commitments under UNDRIP; it is a declaration, not a treaty which would indeed be binding. As a non-binding declaration UNDRIP has no force in New Zealand law unlike the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, both of which ban discrimination on the grounds of race and which have been ratified and implemented through New Zealand legislation.

Has anyone looked hard at Michael Woods’ grand transport plan in any detail. Just looking myself, and asking some questions. The release showed how easy to use a credit card for a trip on any mode of transport, anywhere.
Great concept, but how is he going to handle the rapacious ‘Paywave’ charges the banks put on every transaction?
This looks like it will become ‘KiwiCommute’.

    The contract collapsed due to management uselessness, but the IT deliverables that existed at the time continued, and were simply publically renamed NIA.
    
    The executable out of the build pipeline is still, to this day, called incis.exe

  In fact we only use public transport when we are out of Hastings and use our/Winstons Gold Card.

  In the public transport revenue context the ‘paywave’ fees are probably quite reasonable given the benefit to the operators. This includes the debit/credit card chip ‘remembering’ the last ‘tag on’ details for a ticket inspector to check. If the card companies get excessively greedy the transport operators can promote their own competing cards. So it is interests of the credit/debit card companies to keep their charges competitive compared with a possible ‘in house’ card. Possibly transport operators would prefer not to be in the card business themselves. In London, passengers get the same concessions on paywave as with the Oyster Card, and in marginal cases even better. Also the Oyster Card has limitations (especially with the Crossrail extensions) and it seems TfL would prefer Oyster to be phased out rather than having to upgrade it.

      Foreign visitors for one. The new Wellington airport bus service accepts ‘contactless’ as well as Snapper. Wayne Brown should tell AT to do the same for the new Airport to Puhinui Station battery bus service, but then AT has its head firmly up its arse. Currently if you do not have a HOP card you cannot use it – how silly.

        I’m in chch. I might very occasionally (say twice a year) use PT except I would have to pay double for not having a whatever card they use here. It costs $20 to get a card last time I looked – admittedly about 5 yrs ago – which I refuse on principle given it’s several years worth of vis fares. So I’ll just keep driving or get an Uber in those few situations.

    I heard Jacinda say that a nation wide payment system was essential to maximise use of PT. Evidence free statement.

      What the fuck’s it got to do with the Govt anyway?
      Councils run their own bus services, some even in conjunction with private bus owners.
      If this Govt’s going to take over (steal) all council-owned bus assets (as in 3Waters) and give these assets to Maori to run and clip the fares on the way through, then it may be Govt business, but not yet and I doubt it will ever happen eh?

    A big ‘driver’ for unification is the SuperGold card. Some transport authorities notably AT do not accept the SuperGold card on its own. You have to spend $15 on a HOP card then get the agent to SuperGold it. Spearheading a unification to facilitate things for SuperGold card users this was probably the best thing Winston Peters did.
    Incidentally software is not an issue. The Government is going to use ‘off the shelf’ software which is currently used in London and Sydney.

        check the opening paragraphs in each article.
        
        1. “South Canterbury MP Jo Luxton has admitted causing a three-car crash on a state highway in her electorate.”
        
        2. “National MP Gerry Brownlee says he is thankful no-one was injured after he was in a minor car crash in Wellington.”

        The brownlee article would have been written by a different person than the Jo article which the herald has written after reading stuffs Timaru herald article which changed several times throughout the morning as the timaru herald added to it. It was the timaru herald that rightfully was calling her south Canterbury mp. Herald just copied what timaru was reporting

It tells of a very honest and accountable couple who rushed into regenerative farming and watched things go sadly wrong. We have greenies, politicians, armchair experts, anti-meat idiots, climate change cranks demanding NZ adopt regenerative farming across the board. “Cut back the cows”, “grow crops”, “stop polluting” etc.

Reality is we are all ready treating our land, soils, farms carefully and sustainably and diving into some ill-considered venture because it has worked somewhere else in the world is a nonsense.

NZ farming is doing well by its resources and is contributing massively to local communities and the nation. It does not need non-farming types trying to tell them what to do.

  Yes. A while back it was all about farming organically. How ever when most of that fell over because one incomes drops like a stone a new word had to be thought up for the Media. It is all over ‘Country Calendar’ now. It is the magic word of sustainability. Farming for the most part has been sustainable for centuries.

Kiwis were the only contingent to obtain their objective on the first day. Several days later the unused Maori Battalion won a defining battle. With NZ troops exhausted in what must have been a very difficult decision for some in the British Army, even distasteful, put the NZ Commanders in charge and the rest is history.
When those men who fought beside one another came home they couldn’t have a beer together in the pub if any were non-European. At the beginning of that century, Maori had the lowest rate of imprisonment by the end of it the highest. Those Commanders should have been left in charge.

I hate this Labour Government.

From top down they are useless show ponies.

All talk and no action.
But why do I hate them?

Because my fellow New Zealanders are dying early because of their lack of care.
The biggest tool is Michael Wood who won’t do what’s necessary to get nurses in here.

He repeatedly gets told we are 21,000 nurses short and he won’t give overseas nurses immediate residency like other countries do.

We have had 12 move here since July.

He was told that immediate residency would be a big driver of getting nurses here.

As per usual his response was if we get the settings wrong we will look at it!

What a fool.

Does he care about the lives lost due to the neglect patients suffered in ED at Middlemore and Christchurch Hospitals?

An inquiry is underway.
How bloody predictable.
How bloody shallow when we know that the course is lack of staff.

In 2017 under a National Government 90 per cent of the public got seen in ED within the standard set if 6 hours.

As of yesterday not one ED room complied with that standard.

There are other Ministers as culpable but nothing will change until these tossers have to get proper jobs after next year’s election.

Until then we will be daily be subjected to the smugness of Michael Wood, his endless selection of red ties and his faux confidence as he kills more of us by his negligence.

    I hate this Govt too and the way I see this problem is three fold;
    
    1. We have a shortage of nurses,
    2. The Govt wants fewer immigrants, and
    3. There’s insufficient money to pay the nurses we have.

      The majority want fewer immigrants. We have too many, doing jobs Kiwis should be doing. We need massive welfare and taxation reform. We need reinvigorated employment strategies and retraining policies. We need to reprioritise tertiary education and stop funding useless degrees. Get the whole country working, contributing, participating in society again, not “Oh we can get an immigrant for that!” We need to restore the social contract that priorities the wellbeing and prosperity of New Zealanders first.

Something I don’t understand and have not seen covered in the Malachi Subecz murder case is why the mother was sent to jail especially having a young child to look after. Surely any case worthy of home detention (unless for very serious crime) would be for a mother with a young child. It seems unbelievable that a rapist can get home d yet this person whatever her crime didn’t. Why isn’t the judge called out on this.

  The first failure and event in this chain was that Malachi’s mum was arrested and, despite drug paraphernalia being present in the house when she was arrested, Malachi was left at the house with people not even really known to him.

Today’s Herald’s editorial is about Uk’s political meltdown and is in favour of a snap general election there ( but conceeding there won’t be one) on the basis of , ;

‘But there comes a point when democracy itself looks streched and vulnerable if major changes keep occurring while the voters’ input is ignored.’

By that token they should be calling for a snap GE here ( and reining in their cartoonists’ constant attacks on the Opp , yes another today) .

I remember when

Went to the ‘Foxton Fling’ yesterday which seemed to confirm several points.
Firstly, that the wearing of masks, unless something changes, is a thing of the past.
Secondly, it appears that the number of hip and knee replacements at present is a molehill compared to what will be needed in the future.

      I’m not saying it’s evil at all.
      However.
      Everyone knows the country is stretched to provide the standard of healthcare we’ve become used to and it makes sense for resources to be directed towards life saving rather than quality of life.
      I paid for my own hip replacement, so did my cousin. It didn’t break the bank for us. Same as a good second hand car at the time.
      Other people without the resources could get government funding.

MYSTERY OF THE CENTURY —WHO THE HELL IS HE?

His 8 years of living in the White House is over. He’s (mostly) gone … but questions remain. This came from a union guy in Chicago who didn’t vote for Obama.

It will be interesting to see what they put in his “Library” about his early years now that he is out of office. In a country where we take notice of many facets of our public figures’ lives, doesn’t it seem odd that there’s so little we know about Barack Obama?

As Americans, we enjoy knowing details about our news makers, but none of us know one single humanizing fact about the history of our own ex-president. We are all aware of the lack of incontestable birth records for Obama; that “document managing“ has been spectacularly successful. There are, however, several additional oddities in Obama’s history that appear to be as well managed as the birthing issue.

One other interesting thing…There are no birth certificates of his daughters that can be found.

It’s interesting that no one who ever dated him has shown up. The charisma that caused women to be drawn to him so strongly during his campaign, certainly would in the normal a course of events, lead some lady to come forward, if only to garner some attention for herself.

We all know about JFK’s magnetism, that McCain was no monk and quite a few details about Palin’s courtship and even her athletic prowess, Joe Biden’s aneurysms are no secret; look at Cheney and Clinton, we all know about their heart problems. Certainly, Wild Bill Clinton’s exploits before and during his White House years were well known. That’s why it’s so odd that not one lady has stepped up and said, “He was so shy…” or “What a great dancer.”

It’s virtually impossible to know anything about this fellow. Who was best man at his wedding? Start there, then check groomsmen.

To get the footage of the graduation ceremony. Has anyone talked to the professors? It is odd that no one is bragging that they knew him or taught him or lived with him.

When did he meet Michelle, and how? Are there photos there? Every president gives to the public all their photos, etc. for their library, etc. What has he released? And who voted for him to be the most popular man in 2010? Doesn’t this make you wonder?

Ever wonder why no one ever came forward from Obama’s past saying they knew him, attended school with him, was his friend, etc? Not one person has ever come forward from his past. It certainly is very, very strange.

This should be a cause for great concern. To those who voted for him, you may have elected an unqualified, inexperienced shadow man. Have you seen a movie named “The Manchurian Candidate”?

As insignificant as each of us might be, someone with whom we went to school will remember our name or face; someone will remember we were the clown or the dork or the brain or the quiet one or the bully or something about us.

George Stephanopoulos of ABC News said the same thing during the 2008 campaign. He questions why no one has acknowledged he was in their classroom or ate in the same cafeteria or made impromptu speeches on campus. Stephanopoulos also was a classmate of Obama at Columbia–the class of 1984. He says he never had a single class with him.

He is such a great orator; why doesn’t anyone in Obama’s college class remember him? Why won’t he allow Columbia to release his records? Nobody remembers Obama at Columbia University. Looking for evidence of Obama’s past, Fox News contacted 400 Columbia University students from the period when Obama claims to have been there, but none remembered him.

Wayne Allyn Root was, like Obama, a political science major at Columbia who also graduated in 1983. In 2008, Root says of Obama, “I don’t know a single person at Columbia that knew him, and they all know me. I don’t have a classmate who ever knew Barack Obama at Columbia, ever.”

Nobody recalls him. Root adds that he was also, like Obama, Class of ’83 Political Science, and says, “You don’t get more exact or closer than that. Never met him in my life, don’t know anyone who ever met him. At class reunion, our 20th reunion five years ago, who was asked to be the speaker of the class? Me. No one ever heard of Barack!

And five years ago, nobody even knew who he was. The guy who writes the class notes, who’s kind of the, as we say in New York, ‘the macha’ who knows everybody, has yet to find a person, a human who ever met him.”

Obama’s photograph does not appear in the school’s yearbooks and Obama consistently declines requests to talk about his years at Columbia, provide school records, or provide the name of any former classmates or friends while at Columbia.

Some other interesting questions:

1.Why was Obama’s law license inactivated in 2002? It is said there is no record of him ever taking the Bar exam.

2.Why was Michelle’s law license inactivated by court order? We understand that it was forced to avoid fraud

3 How did he receive aid as a foreign exchange student if he’s actually an American citizen?

It is circulating that according to the U.S Census, there is only one Barack Obama but 27 Social Security numbers and over 80 aliases are connected to him.

The Social Security number he uses now originated in Connecticut where he is reported to have never lived. And was originally registered to another man (Thomas Louis Wood) from Connecticut, who died in Hawaii while on vacation there.

As we all know Social Security Numbers are only issued ‘once, they are not reused. No wonder all his records are sealed…

Please continue sending this out. Somewhere, someone has to know SOMETHING, before he reorganized Chicago. SOMETHING! He just seemed to burst upon the scene at the 2004 Democratic Convention. ANYONE? ANYWHERE? ANYTHING?

I think soon much is going to come to light about this highly unqualified person who was President of the United States for 8 years. Soon, we will know how badly we were all doped and duped by this impostor who has basically, with much help from his minions, almost brought the greatest nation in history to its knees in ruins. That will be his legacy.

He totally destroyed the Integrity, morals and Christian heritage of our once great country.

But WHO THE HECK IS HE?

  Maori wonderfulness. Lots of wiata and Te Reo invocations at start and end of all meetings memos and interactions, hui, cultural training, dealing with and funding various wonderful Maori groups and Maori initiatives as they do their wonderful things.
  
  It’s darkly ironic that this culture they are all required to devote so much focus to is so massively over-represented in child abuse figures. Maori culture is at the core of the problem with it’s tolerance of crappy parenting, living off welfare and criminality – with the inevitable harvest of dead and abused children that produces, and the abuse stats have gotten worse as even as re-growing Maori Culture has become such a focus of govt.

  As commented the other day, I heard the CEO of OT, Mr Te Kani, interviewed on radio by Heather DPA on this case.
  He basically just refused to answer her repeated questions.
  It was an embarrassment that a person in his position couldn’t or wouldn’t answer.
  He will be on big money. Where is the accountability? Is there any integrity left at OT?
  Mr Te Kani was clear in one thing though – that was his absolute determination to protect “my staff” at all costs.

  It was also a great idea of the Government to give this (and other departments a Te Reo name). Because I can’t understand the language, I don’t know remember who they all are unless they’re translated.
  
  If I had have seen this headline in a newspaper or a website, I would have assumed it was some Maori organisation and therefore it didn’t involve me so I wouldn’t have looked at it. Its a good way for the government and their departments to avoid attention and scrutiny.

      Our Prime Minister’s partners travel with them, just as Joan travelled with Jim Bolger to the South Pole. There was a vileness that existed in the left when John was Prime Minister that we see now in the right trying to hold Jacinda to different standards than other prime ministers.

        That would be a reasonable comment if one could more or less hold equally John Key’s and Jacinda Ardern’s tenures as prime minister.
        
        Jacinda and the Labour Party are held in utter contempt because she has presided over, caused, or failed to halt: the near collapse of the health system; the near collapse of our education system; the introduction of naked racism into legislation; authoritarianism in the covid response; an utter farce of miq; attacking our primary industries despite them being among the most efficient already; increasing child abuse figures; increasing crime of an increasingly brazen nature.
        
        What has she had to deal with? Covid. That’s all. The mosque shootings, while a nationally significant event, wasn’t economically or socially significant. Tarrant was an Australian outlier. White island, while tragic for those involved, again required little from government.
        You can probably add a world wide inflation problem, but nz’s inflation problem is of her and Robertson making, because they threw out a considered pandemic plan and made something up on a napkin which caused the massive, largely unnecessary spending.
        
        John key dealt with the GFC, which was an economic problem not of our making, and the earthquakes, which leveled a city. Given those pressure, maintaining services and standards of living was a pretty impressive achievement.

        Attack a prime minister for what they do. Not her partner nor her kid, or the trips her partner goes on like every other partner before him has, because then the right is just as bad as they claimed the left were under Key.

Back to China – having been to China a number of times in recent years I am unsure how the youth that I have seen and spoken to will tolerate the repression that is evolving. They have seen forms of freedom via communications with other places.
Walk along Nanking Road in Shanghai any weekend and see the future of China.
Well dressed, sparkling, very savvy in all respects.
We would be stopped and asked to talk to then in English.
Can this enthusiasm for learning in the big Cities be stamped out. Girls hold boys hands and affection is apparent.
Wish that enthusiasm was here.
Am not sure about China though without massive repression of the young !

I was a school bus monitor in the 1960’s so I’m going to apply for a ‘Plain language officer’ job when the Plain language Bill before Parliament becomes law. Rachel Boyack presented this idiotic piece of legislation as a members bill. Guess all it will really do is further increase the number of Public servants we have. Hey I would suggest Rachel and her ilk start applying for jobs soon as this useless waste of parliaments time is yet another reason why they will be turfed out next year !

Inland Revenue had collected $33 million from multinational firms as part of a campaign to keep COVID-19 wage subsidy payments in New Zealand.

  The “Clinton sock drawer” is this:
  – Clinton’s biographer taped his interviews with Clinton,
  – Clinton later kept those interview tapes, maybe in his sock drawer (that’s actually not clear)
  – Judicial Watch sued to have those tapes considered Presidential records under the PRA (so they could then be sought under the Freedom of Information Act)
  – The Courts threw out Judicial Watch’s suit … as in it didn’t even get heard in Court, it got thrown out.
  
  So “Clinton kept Presidential records in his sock drawer, after leaving the Presidency” is a MAGA reality distortion.
  
  But MAGA is all about keeping the rubes outraged with fact-free mistruths.

  The tapes of Bill Clinton talking to his biographer aren’t Presidential records, are Clinton’s own private property, and (natch) there’s no crime in him storing them wherever he likes.
  
  It seems clear many of the M-A-L documents *are* Presidential records, a good number are classified documents to do with US national security … which if true is clearly crime under the Presidential Records Act and the Espionage Act.
  
  So not apples and apples comparison. More like apples and broccoli.
