It seems that the Labour Government think the more debt that they run up is best for our Country and the Generations that will have to pay for it.
People need to be asking themselves is it right to back a Prime Minister because she is nice and cares, or should we be looking forward and thinking all this debt that the Government is running up will need to be paid for so how will it happen, well let me tell you Jacinda Ardern our Prime Minister and Labour don’t care as they know it is going to be paid by future Generations and that mean your Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren so what a start you are allowing these Generations to have.
So why are the Media, Parents, and the Prime Minister with her Government not raising concerns as Kainga Ora forcasts unaffordable debt – levels for the next 60 years.
The only ones that will suffer from the Agency’s debt which was expected to peak at $28.9 billion in 2033 and by 2081 there would still be $8.8 billion to pay off
will be your Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren which you are allowing to happen because you most likely won’t be around to see or do anything about it which will see future Generations pay for because of incompetence of this Government and those that lead it.

  I found out yesterday that the Covid19 Recovery Fund paid for a new Olympic style swimming complex at the Hastings Sports Centre.
  
  Surely that should have been funded from private sources with appropriate advertising and naming rights.
  
  Good old Grunter. The Part Time Prime Minister even turned up yesterday to open the complex.

      Aunty – no way Tukituki (which includes Hastings City) is a Labour stronghold. Airhead Lorck is the first Labour MP to hold it since 2005 when Craig Foss beat Rick Barker.
      
      On current polling it is a certainty to return to National if they put up a half way decent candidate – my bet is it will be the very capable Laurence Yule.

        Sure, now do a google search on Georgina Beyer and see how far back you have to go before you find the word “transexual” anywhere near her name. Anything after 2017 refers to Beyer being transgender, not transexual. See if you can find the word transexual anywhere in NZ MSM after 2017, that word has been well and truly memory-holed in favour of the rebranding to transgender.
        
        I don’t know if you genuinely think I am taking the piss or not but I have had online arguments elsewhere where woke millennials get very upset at the use of the word transexual, it (along with the word tranny) are considered archaic and derogatory because of the porn connotations of the word apparently – this is why the word is NEVER used in the MSM anymore.

  In local govt electorates across the country when they wanted to establish Maori seats they were firmly rejected .
  
  Some clever type might like to list them and the percentages , I can’t be bothered.
  
  That was a clear signal , democratically where we are .
  
  But the Swamp persisted and have now pushed them through .
  
  Wouldn’t it be nice if the Fourth Estate ran continuous stories on these assaults on our constitution and democracy ( it’s not as if they don’t care , they do it to Trump) .

  Has it not occurred to anyone that people get elected to Parliament because they want to boss other people around, and no matter how they go about it, whether by “kindness” (Ardern), or fisticuffs (Mallard et al.), it is nonetheless bullying? People who crave or seek power are ipso facto bullies, so why all those twats in Parliament should be wringing their rather clammy hands about it is beyond me. They all have skeletons in their closets, and if they don’t, they are either lying or complete dorks.

  Maybe instead of chasing a “sniff” of a story on an individual Nats behaviour 22 years ago for months, Kirsty Johnstone could simply review the documented evidence from the Francis inquiry report on bullying in Parliament said, read Louisa Walls speech, review Sharma’s opinion piece, I.e. what is right under her nose and ask a few more questions of Labour MPs stated experience of not seen any sign of bullying ?. Clearly someone is telling porkies when the documented evidence suggests there is plenty of bullying.

  “My hope from the Review is we actually do some things to change this place for the better. I hope it’s not just all talk. We can be better. We have to be better, for democracy’s sake”. May 2019.

Mr Luxon has grown on me. When he was first elected as leader, I didn’t like him.

Now, I think he’s doing rather well. He comes across as reasonable. I’ll obviously still vote ACT for my party vote, but irrespectively my view of Mr Luxon has improved markedly.

Cindy and the team of $55 million hate Mr Luxon, and are running a huge campaign against him.

This is an excellent sign that he’s doing well…

    The optics were never going to be good. Mr Luxon is no Donald Trump…ie non political background leading the country.
    
    Mr Luxon is a creation of the Corporate world. ie promotion by greasing up to superiors.

  I have a bit of a problem electorate vote-wise because I live in his electorate.
  Party vote going to ACT, who at least have the sense to stay fairly quiet about ‘climate change’. Unfortunately for NZ though it seems they go along with the CC idiocy as well.

    I agree. But, I think ‘global warming’ might be on the way out. Despite all the legislation EU governments don’t want the peasants shivering through winter. They’ve already said gas, and nuclear are ‘clean energy’. Reality might prevail sooner rather than later. Kiwis with rellies in the EU could send them beanies, therman underware, and rugby socks. What a difference a day makes. Yesterday we woke up to the lurid tales of Uffindell’s anonymous accusers, presented in the gloating media as facts.

Today, we have Labour MP Dr Gaurav Sharma’s accusations of bullying by Labour PM+MPs described by RNZ as “he’s laying out a conspiracy theory” of bullying against members of his own party. The tax-payer funded RNZ yet again, is obviously not objective in their reporting and their pro-Labour/Jacinda bias is crystal clear – is this what Jacinda‘s “transparent” government really means?

Why is RNZ not accountable for their total lack of professionalism?? They should be reporting facts, not sleazy propaganda.

  Then later in the same article and for a third time:
  
  Those leaders alongside Parliamentary Service were allowing for the bullying of MPs and staff members, which he said had become “rampant”. No evidence to support this claim was provided.
  
  Woah back up the horse there State Sponsored Stuff!
  
  “No evidence was provided” was repeated three times!
  
  Why has a so called “independent” news outlet repeatedly used that phrase?
  
  When not once as they attacked Sam Uffindell did they ever write “No evidence was provided” was provided by SU’s accusers?
  
  Now don’t get me wrong, I am not saying SU did not do anything wrong (after all he admitted doing so at KC), my point is the HYPOCRISY and pro-Labour bias of Stuff!
  
  When Stuff chose to insert three times “No evidence was provided” in an article that reflects badly on Labour, but doesn’t think it was necessary for an article that reflects badly on National, then is it any wonder the public have contempt for the journalistic integrity of so-called “independent” Stuff?
  
  If so perhaps the moniker of State Sponsored Stuff seems apt!

Really interesting program on the BBC earlier….called ‘Water-Stress’

The CEO of Britain’s Environment Agency predicted the country was running out of water, which would likely lead to supply shortages in some areas by 2040!
Apparently, house-building in the UK is already being curtailed by concerns over water shortages. He went on to say…. we need to act now to reduce the existing and emerging threat that this poses to peoples health. More than half the world’s population is already facing water scarcity for at least one moth a year!!

Which led ME to wonder if we’re still allowing the Chinese to extract billions-of-liters of our pristine fresh water from those Christchurch aquifers? Put it in millions of plastic bottles and ship it to Chy-Nah?

        Saudi Arabia and Russia are the biggest oil producers after the United States. The pair control their oil exports.

      Yes you are totally correct. Of course dairy makes more money for New Zealand than bottled water.
      
      However, the folk here who protest the extraction of water for export usually do so on environmental grounds, not economic grounds. The point I am making is that if you were only concerned about environmental impacts, it is much better to export water than milk powder.

        Yes, the objection to bottled water exports, and to China in particular, is an odd one.
        We have had an extremely wet winter, and we have plenty of springs. If the asset can be managed** – SELL IT.
        We cant do coal, or gas, and even cow farts means beef and dairy is bad. So SELL IT.
        The only thing I don’t like is the use of plastics, and that most of the plastics in the ocean comes from a few rivers out of the Asia part of the Eurasian continent.
        Climate change being caused by cO2 might be deubious, but plastic pollution is something we should aim to minimise. But hardly a reason to not sell our water. Maybe send it in massive drums, and let NZ owned factories bottle it locally?
        
        **And asset management and sustainability does not mean get people of certain genetic ancestry in positions of control. It means do it intelligently first and foremost.

        Most dairy in the world is not produced using the pasture based system we use though. It is typically feed lots for a major portion if not all of the animals life, with crops grown and transported to the animals in place. Crops take a lot of water to grow, and then managing a feed lot requires a lot of water for things like cleaning, the amount the animals drink is pretty negligible. In somewhere like the waikato where there is virtually everything is dryland pasture, do you think this number even remotely relevant?

        There was a public meeting a long time ago about water drawoff for irrigation from the Rakaia. Opposition led by Sam Mahon. He produced a glass of (clear) water from the river taken upstream and a glass (brown and scungy) taken downstream of a few irrigated farms. Invited the pro guy to drink both of them … Noone at the meeting questioned the source of either glass.

      China has water issues – water quality being one, hence why their middle class are willing to paid for water from mountains and aquifers in NZ.
      
      And in addition they are looking to divert a lot of water that flows off the Tibetan plateau into India (via the Brahmaputra River) and into Laos, Cambodia, Burma, Thailand and Vietnam (via the Mekong)…. they want that water for hydro power generation and other purposes. If a war between China and India is going to happen, water may well be the triggering point

      As Bernard says below, this is a stupid beat up. We extract water for industrial processes every day. Selling bottled water is an industrial process.
      
      Claiming it’s depleting NZ’s reserves of water (!) when the same water is used to make milk, fizzy drinks, beer or wash the stockroom floor is a simply nonsensical argument.
      
      Its only purpose is xeonophobic virtue signalling. If there is a buck in bottling and shipping water to willing buyers, why is that anyone’s business but the business owners?
      
      The only argument I have heard with even the tiniest skerrick of merit, is that the bottlers aren’t paying enough for the water.
      
      OK. Do they pay less or more than Coca Cola, breweries, the local dairy factory? If they pay less, then fix it. If not, STFU.

  There are areas of the UK that are running out of water, but it is for two reasons. First is they haven’t built any new reservoirs for about 30 years and second, they haven’t bothered fixing the leaks, so that much of it in the system is wasted. The solution is rationing and water meters, rather than fixing the problem.
  Sounds a lot like Scottish Water and Wellington Council, doesn’t it. And guess who 3 waters use as their advisors?

  It’s a bit of an urban legend Maggie. What happened was a Chinese outfit brought an old freezing works site and Ecan transfered the old water rights to them. This ment that, in theory, they could export billions of plastic water bottles but it was never economic and after a few minor sales they ceased in around 2017. Since then the court has determined that the transfer was illegal and the water rights have been cancelled.

“How much more Ridiculous can these people get!!

A few days ago, Te Ao Maori News reported that Ara – what used to be known as the Christchurch Polytech – has decided to teach automotive engineering in te reo Maori. Why? Because a single student (who had been educated in a Maori language school) had decided that he wanted to set up a business repairing cars where te reo Maori would be the primary language for both staff and customers. The Ara tutor admitted that there were some problems in teaching automotive engineering in the Maori language because, unsurprisingly, the Maori language simply doesn’t have words for most of the technical words needed for such tuition. After all, when Europeans first arrived in New Zealand, Maori were not even using the wheel. But instead of telling the student to get real, that he is never going to build a business repairing cars if his only customers are Maori speakers, at time of writing it appears that taxpayer-funded Ara intends to indulge this nonsense.

English is the absolutely essential language if you want to be a pilot, no matter where you fly. English is essential if you want a career in international finance, medicine or science. It is the essential language if you want to get a decent job in New Zealand – or indeed, to get any job in New Zealand unless you want to make a profession of teaching the Maori language to the next generation. Being fluent in reading and writing English will take you almost anywhere; being fluent in te reo Maori may get you approving words from your Maori grandparent, or from the woke lecturer in some university sociology course.

Tragically for New Zealand and for the people most directly involved, far too many teenagers come out of our taxpayer-funded schools barely literate in English. Spending time and taxpayer money trying to teach them a language which has no practical value to them at all is an extravagance which we and they can ill afford.” Janie Weir

This is a reasoned and rational article. It factors in many possible causes, but there is obvious evidence pointing to the correlation with the vaccine rollout. Many of these deaths will be from vaccine injury, many others will be deaths attributable to the inane policies attempting to eliminate covid. Something that many warned was impossible and they have been proven correct.

NZ is behind the UK in vaccine rollout. The number of excess deaths is on the rise. Yet Ardern is still pushing vaccines and worse, bullying schools into forcing masks ontot school children.

With the worldwide evidence now impossible to ignore it is past time to halt the vaccination programme until a full and thorough investigation is carried out. To not do so is an act of malfeasance.   I have commented on this ‘climate action’ rubbish before. As Eric Crampton points out it is like fighting climate change by ‘pushing a pieced of string up a hill’. It is people who should decide transport modes, not have them decided by central and local governments. The role of government is to forecast the transport modes that will be demanded at modelled emissions prices over the next 20, 30, 50 years. Critically, if most cars are going to be electric in 20 years, why are we worried about people driving cars, given the government’s commitment to 100 percent renewable electricity generation.
  
  Since 1980 the mode share of cycling to work and education has declined in every census from around 5 percent of trips 40 years ago to its current level of about 2 percent. I would be surprised if it hits that 5 percent level in the next 20 years.

Grants offer $2m economic lifeline: North Taranaki Midweek.
Pacific International Hotel Management School (PIHMS), in Bell Block, New Plymouth was among over 200 providers who received grants top ease homelessness crisis.
MSD figures show about 6.4m was paid to 16 hotels, motels and accommodation providers across Taranaki between March 2020 and July 2022.
Because of covid related border closures, international students couldn’t travel to NZ, so PIHMS had surplus rooms available.
Other top earners were Amber Court $727,000, Braemar Motor Inn $613,000 and Egmont Motor Lodge $467,000.
PIHMS and Amber Court provided shelter to 267 and 243 people respectively.
These amounts pale in comparison with MCentral Apartments in Manukau which earned $15.8m sheltering 621 clients.

I had meant to do a post from Eugyppius in Germany re their health minister’s attempts to outdo Ardern in the covid insanity stakes. I was reminded by yet another inane and inaccurate advert on Youtube from the covid 19 government team. They are still pushing masking even though there is a mountain of evidence pointing out there is close to zero benefit from doing so, certainly in the manner that 99% of people use them.
That in fact there is more evidence showing the harm they do, both mental and physical.

Ardern’s not so subtle bullying of schools into doing her dirty enforcement work for is particularly obnoxious.

    As long as the parties do not try and kick them out under Winston’s Waka hopper law (which is still on the books). However Simon Bridges considered the attempt would fail if the MP appealed. If they were kicked out of their party caucuses the odds are they would look for alternative employment (they both would still be quite employable) and this would force byelections which neither party would particularly want.

I had several hundred in a National Australia Bank account 953-7392. I closed it on 10th March 2022. But I earned, get this, ONE CENT interest which was credited on 31st March, that is, three weeks after I closed the account.
In this morning’s mail I received the 31st July statement, which of course is the same as the 30th June, 31st May and 30th April statements. All showing that ONE CENT.

  Time for more Police to be assigned to walking the street-beats and be armed with batons.
  
  (Well why not, after all Labour endorsed the Police being armed with batons during the Parliamentary protest … Labour set the precedent, and Labour’s party affiliates on social media endorsed state sponsored violence against the protesters)!
  
  And perhaps it is time for security guards (and wardens) to be armed with batons too, but importantly, have the law on their side so that if they get into a confrontation they won’t be prosecuted.
  
  And allow shop keepers to defend themselves (with the law changed to support that).
  
  Then watch as juvenile thuggery against the public declines to next to nothing.
  
  Sure have wrap around services to help them become better people. But like I say if you want thuggery to stop then they will need a meaningful deterrence.
  
  I don’t fear for myself but I fear for my children, who could be working in these shops and malls once they are of working age (or as tertiary students needing a part time job) or simply as innocent bystanders caught up in passing.
  
  And of course I fear for all current shop workers and owners (and bystanders) as a whole as well.
  
  I do hope National and/or ACT can come up with something workable – they will gain huge public support.
  
  Forget about Labour/Greens/Maori Party doing anything practical, they won’t … even now as NZ experiences scenes we have never witnessed before, and all under the guise of social media for these thugs to become “famous”.
  
  And let’s face it social media won’t be going away … so this thuggery will only get worse, unless it is confronted, head on.

Interesting on the NZherald the media briefing was to be 12:15 – PM turns up 6-7 minutes later, then 12 minutes later has to end the media get together to catch a plane, and allow the weekend to diminish the weight of the story and allow distance between the story and her image. Well managed by her basis to limit her time to be questioned. But had enough time to comment that the PM was aware of an issue late last year – 8-9 months ago !! And also to imply that the problem was with Sharma and “employment matters with staff”.

Back in the days when Helen Clark was P.M. there was a suggestion from some wag that, with up to 510 cumec (for those unfamiliar – 1 cumec = 1 cubic metre/second {1,000 L/sec}) of fresh clean water exiting the Manapouri tail-race tunnel in to Doubtful Sound at Deep Cove where it could be captured in to an empty oil tanker (plenty of draft available) then shipped to the middle east, in exchange for the crude oil said tanker brought in from middle east to Marsden Point!
If approx. ½ million litres per second goes to sea, could some of it be better used/sold elsewhere!
My recollection from the time was that tankers would take on sea water as ballast for the return journey; this could then be dumped in Doubtful Sound.
The top 10 or so feet of Doubtful Sound is fresh water out several kilometres from the tail-race discharge so the tanker could anchor well out from the head of the sound.
Evidently water stored in a tank that contained oil will not necessarily become contaminated with the oil residue!

  I was at sea in the 70’s and 80’s and early 90’s and went to several Guild meetings where the export of FW had been discussed many times,
  
  Idea was as you say or a SBM off Jackson Bay and the water piped out.
  
  The water, about 200k tonnes would have been taken to a Gulf Port and put through a purifier to get rid of any oil contamination. The water that was in the Oil Tanks would have been used as NON POTABLE water and that in Ballast tanks would have been Potable.
  
  THere would have been a tanker every 7-10 days.

This is how the MSM run interference for this corrupt government – regarding the alleged bullying of Dr Gaurav Sharma by his colleagues, Labour whips, and the Prime Minister’s office, $1uffed said (my emphasis):

“In an opinion column published in the NZ Herald on Thursday, Sharma alleged widespread bullying at Parliament, including by his own party whips, the prime minister’s office and others, although no evidence was provided to support the claims.”

So firstly, they dismiss it as simply one person’s opinion, and then they pour more crap on it by suggesting he made it up – I mean, no evidence, right?

Transpose that same response to unfounded allegations, with no evidence to support them, regarding the new National MP for Tauranga when he was at Otago Uni. Those allegations are treated as fact, and the feeding frenzy shows no signs of abating.

As a white heterosexual conservative male, I’m unsurprised at the pile-on for Uffindell, but as we see the MSM are not above trashing a non-white, lefty MP, as long as it protects the Princess and keeps that sweet, sweet money rolling in.

    Interesting that the Luke Malpass claims there is ‘no evidence’.
    What does he want, recordings ? Plenty of detail of meetings, people involved, dates and times. Should be easy for even the laziest reporter to verify.
    I have heard stories about McAnulty from his TAB days that would suggest plenty of people there could talk about his attitude and behaviour there.

I note the staff in the Bunnings ads on TV have quietly dropped wearing their masks. About time.

In 3 months of not wearing one I’ve been stopped just once by a staff member to ask where mine was. If you’re still wearing one and don’t want to, don’t.

  TV1 “news” showed his maiden speech .He claims he was bullied at school and by a medical colleague.
