  A very silly decision to bar him entry. One imagines the Serbian Government could take similar action against Australians intending to arrive in Serbia.
  
  The science spoke and said he could play. (The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) and the Independent Medical Exemption Review Panel appointed by the Victorian Department of Health approved his exemption.) Alas, as we have seen here, politicians got involved and felt it necessary to ignore the science. Shameful.

    Tennis Australia gives a bit of a finger to the state government, and the state government responds with a swift kick to the nuts
    
    The decision to get an exemption to the Australian Open and the border entry decision are two different decisions with two different criteria.
    
    The state government was pretty angry that Tennis Australia gave him an exemption to play so clearly any irregularities with his visa were met with zero discretion.
    
    I’m sure Serbia uses that tactic for its purposes too. Like shepherding illegal migrants to the border with Hungary.

    Imagine the political damage if an overtly unvaxxed Djokovic were to destroy his vaxxed opponents, all while suffering no ill effects (a very likely outcome). The symbolism would be profound. More people may start asking themselves questions. In a way, it would be very similar to the Black Jesse Owens beating the White sprinters in Berlin in 1936 and the undermining effect on Nazi propaganda this caused.

    The BBL has become a shambles in Australia also with multiple players being sidelined often just before the game.
    Many of them don’t have Covid and are vaccinated and frequently tested. Just passing through the same room is enough to be prevented playing what is essentially an outside game.
    Suddenly club players are being rounded up and randomly thrust into a BBL game at very short notice and senior Australian cricket officials are venturing out of their gilded offices to manage and coach them.
    Presumably these club players from the suburbs have no contact with covid?
    Really casts doubt on the efficiency of the vaccines.

… What follows can only be speculation, with the duke’s case not due to be heard till later in the year. But having his legal fees quietly covered by the Queen would feel like the very upper limit of what a lot of people in this country would accept. There are, of course, many committed anti-royalists in the UK, but the British public don’t in the majority regard the 95-year-old sovereign as the sort of freeloader at whom they might scream: “We pay your wages!” The Queen’s various vast incomes have not been a hot topic of debate in recent years in whatever counts as middle England.

But in the event that Giuffre’s case against Andrew proceeds and he loses it, and a multimillion-dollar payment has to be made, you get the feeling public attitudes would change overnight if the maternal bailout ran to forking out Andy’s damages for him. You can imagine people who are quite happy for the Queen to spend money restoring obscure Scottish castles and whatnot suddenly feeling less relaxed about it being spaffed on paying blood money for a sex offender. Whatever the accounting, I’m not sure any distinction between public funds and private income would be made by the average person.

Anyway, that’s enough banging on about Andy’s mama. Not that I haven’t very much enjoyed the recent articles by gentlemen of a certain age who have FINALLY found a woman they care about in the long-running Epstein story. Unsurprisingly, perhaps – it’s the Queen! Here at last is a lady tangentially connected to the grimness whose honour and dignity actually matters, as opposed to those of the other ladies involved, whose tribulations they have at no point been interested in writing about.

What reflection – in the usual values: transparency, honesty and integrity – is there of the Queen, in her dealings with son Andrew?

  I did not get the impression from that story that women were brought against their will, nor were forced to do anything.

What a shambles the Covid Booster Jab process is.
Not wanting to wait for 2 hours in a queue, I decide to book an appointment, having had my 2nd jab in August.
First available date is 15th February – they seem to still be running of a 6 month lead time for the booster, not 4 months.
Typical of the overall inept management of the vaccination process.

  Yes in 2020 children were NOT getting Covid.
  So no need for vaxs.
  
  However its now 2022 and the rules have changed with the latest variants. YES children under 11 are getting Covid and ending up in hospital and ending up in intensive care and dieing.
  
  AND the numbers of kids getting infected (as a Percentage) and dieing is growing.
  
  So either do some reading of up todate reports or continue to be a luddite. The choice is yours.

“MetService briefed the Ministry of Transport that “Niwa relies on automated forecasts with no intervention from professional meteorologists” which, MetService believed was “inappropriate for a public safety service”.
As my wife knows to change the TV3 weather segment to TV1 due all sorts of profanities , I also believe putting people at undue risk due to the total lack of understanding the “Basics” of Meteorolgy.
Keep in mind Meteorology is forcasting the weather and Climate is 30+ years.
Its not rocket science but too have NIWA doing “forecasts” for DOC is literally putting them at risk. I agree with Met service on this.
Another question is why are councils now issuing “climate change” forcasts from NIWA. Surely its a boon for the insurance industry with higher premiums?

Alarm bells ring.
Ok my prediction for next 12 months.
We are still in La Nina cycle which looks like lasting for another 6 – 12 months.
Hot water in Western Pacific and lots of rain, Watch out for cyclones in Ntn NZ and plenty of unstable wx with hotter than normal sea surface temperatures, A milder ( same as last year) authum and Winter with lots of precipitation ( rain) and Wind. ie unsettled.
The elephant in the room is when it changes to El Nino, Ie cooler water in NZ and very cold and dry ( Bugger all rain) winter and spring/authumn , And more settled weather. This will result in droughts and for the dams will be run to critical low levels.
Watch your power bills go through the roof!
I could keep rambling on as this is very close to my heart but essentially its very basic forcasting and meteorolgy and think it would be more beneficial for DOC personel to do a simple Meteorology course and learn how to read the weather than rely on micky mouse NIWA climate guestimates.
Anyway thats my 2 bobs for today

  The metservice I find good for a forecast a week out, I get all my long term forecasts from the USA paid prescription. The guy who owns the company also gives a commodity outlook, which is is partly depends on the climate changes. He is very accurate. As aside, this decade is going to get slowly colder and by 2030 we will be in a global icy cold climate that will last for decades. You have been warned, wood burners are advisable.

I’ve been doing a Health and Safety Policy for my concern to share with clients adn stakeholders when I tell them I will not be accepting ‘Boosters’.

I have come to the conclusion that if we were to apply proper informed process to the current situation, that a PCBU who enforces vaccinations in his or her (or its) workforce is not acting in a reasonably Practicable manner as informed by the Heatlh and Safety at Work Act 2015.

I will be advocating for policy which does not enforce or support ‘mandatory’ vaccinations for those who are not required a number of reasons.

An acknowledged potential for legal challenges under Employment Law.
The Acceptable Risk factor and Hazard/Risk controls available.
The potential for ‘side-effects’ and legal challenges should coercion by a PCBU be considered a factor.
Wellness – and mental health implications of enforcing a medical procedure on an employee agaisnt their will.
That a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to a virus with such a high survival rate is not a reasonably Practicable way to engage in Risk Assessments.

I would welcome your observations.

(This only applies to enforcement action within WorkSafe’s responsibilities.)   Without knowing the details , Id Hazard a guess in the likelyhood and consequences of your Risk assessment would control the Risk of ,

  A more serious note,
  A robust Risk assessment would / should negate any litigation.
  As for me, We probably do an average of 3-4 everyday and find it a VERY useful tool for declining doing a job from the charterers for example/ and / or changing the process.
  
  Should’nt be a problem in my mind to achieve your outcome.
  It proves Due Dilligence on your behalf for an “expected outcome”.

  Agree, I have been wondering for awhile what will happen when a young lad is coerced into the vax and gets myocarditis. I’d certainly be lawyering up and going for maximum reparation. How can you force someone to get a vaccine that may make them sterile or incapacitated (as in the case of the 12 year old in the Pfizer trial who has been paralysed and in a wheelchair since)? There would have to be a massive individual benefit to outweigh the individual risK? Or does work safe work on a population rather than individual basis?

  If genuine and honest informed consent was applied and all honest and accurate information regarding potential outcomes after the jab were to be given, I don’t believe any employer could morally or legally mandate the jab. But we don’t have true informed consent and don’t have honest and accurate information regarding the efficacy of the jab and certainly not around the negative effects.
  Good luck, but we are operating in a closed bubble where only a single narrative is permitted. Any employment court is going to defer to “the single source of truth”

    I had friends over at the weekend who I hadn’t seen for a number of months. After an hour or so sitting in the sunshine drinking wine one of the two on hearing that neither my wife or I were vaccinated started to panic and claimed she didn’t feel safe and that she didn’t want to infect her grandchildren with Covid! I asked her to elaborate. Not one of her concerns were based in science it was all misinformed nonsense peddled by this criminal government. I pointed out that she could contract and spread in the same way we could but we didn’t feel unsafe in her company. You could almost hear the cogs spinning in her head like a grandfather clock about to chime. What really seemed to confuse her though was when I pointed out that having such misinformed opinions around the vaccine how had she made an informed decision to have it and had anyone told her that she would be having 4 monthly boosters each with their own potential risks when she presented for vaccination. It was very sad to witness.

        In fact I don’t know of anybody that has had Covid, let alone died from it.
        
        But I have a lot of people I know, who have had bad reactions to the vaccine, some very bad, heart issues etc and one possible death.

  She says that the mandates are not legal. Someone at the BFD summarizes it here –
  
  A summary of the key claims made by Lambert in the below podcast is:
  
  1. Employers and self-employed can ignore the mandates,
  
  2. The way the government structured the law, any employer can decide to keep an un-vaccinated person at work without needing an exemption (clause 12A and clause 9),
  
  3. In case of vaccine injuries of an employee, the responsibility if you imposed a mandate in your company is *on the employer* and not on the government and may imply fines and in case of severe injuries – even jail.

  Lambert also says that because the mandates have not been gazetted, they can’t be enforced. The below is from an email doing the rounds of a Zoom call with Lambert.
  
  (1) The COVID-19 Public Health Response Act 2020 was purposely never gazetted (in Liz’s opinion, to stop the NZ Government from being liable for wrecking the economy, killing people, causing suicide, euthanasia, etc). This means that the Act itself and everything which has happened under that Act is illegal, including the mandates (which Liz thinks will be gone early in the New Year). Also, legislation cannot be retrospectively gazzetted, which means actions taken in the past under the Act (orders, mandates, etc) cannot be made valid retrospectively.
  
  eg, fines imposed for breaching orders or mandates (e.g. the $12,000 fine imposed by WorkSafe on Oliver’s Gym) are unenforceable, businesses no longer have to comply or be running scared of fines and censure, the Police have no authority to act under the legislation, etc.
  
  (2) It is a principle of law that legislation cannot have restrospective effect. This has also been specifically declared in section 12 of the Legislation Act 2019. This means that the medical exemptions obtained by thousands of people under clause 7A of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021, before that order was changed at 11:59 pm on 7th November 2021, are still valid and cannot be invalidated.

  There was a Unichem next to it and it was chockablock with folk in the line for booster jabs before those souls outside got their turns.     I can’t think of anything much more depressing than the thought of having to line up like livestock to receive your third dose of an ineffectual substance from the government. If the vaccines had actually been tested and trialed sufficiently before being rushed into the bodies of millions, they would have been able to tell you a year ago that you’d need a top-up every few months. The only two explanations are that: 1) they knew full well all along but chose not to mention this for propaganda reasons; or 2) as I said above, the substance could not, despite their claims, be called “effective” at all, due to the insufficient testing.

The wide reaching Maxwell settlement that paid out lots of girls on a regular basis (now back for more) can’t be a coverall for anyone and everyone associated (Andrew, Clinton, other rich pricks). Each case must proceed individually on its merits ( or be combined). But coverall absolution is not a thing in the law, as the Bolger Fiscal Envelope discovered.

  I disagree. Presumably Virginia Roberts’ claims of rape relate to a small number of people. Presumably she had Andrew in mind when she (or hew lawyers) inserted that clause. Why insert it if it has no meaning? Indeed her lawyers could have inserted a clause to say that whatever happened in Roberts v Epstein had no effect on related-claims that Roberts might make in the future. Why insert a clause that appears to have the opposite effect to that?
  
  And you appear to have forgotten what happened to Bill Cosby who was convicted of rape. His conviction was quashed because of a non-prosecution agreement from an earlier case in which he was involved.
  
  Castor has said that he told Cosby’s lawyer verbally that he would not prosecute the actor and comedian, and that he then issued a press release announcing that his office’s criminal investigation had concluded. In court, Castor testified that he took those measures in an attempt to get Cosby to testify in any civil suit filed by Costand. He is just one of 242 trafficker’s identified from cell phone pings and ballot box video surveillance.
  That strongly suggests hundreds of thousands of votes added illegally by democrat operatives in Georgia 2020 (Biden’s margin of ‘victory’ was only ~12k). A similar sized operation has been identified in Arizona (similar ‘victory’ margin for Biden).

    Let’s not kid ourselves that it’s “voluntary” and not “mandated”. It is mandated – no school, no sport, no music, no drama, no friends etc without being vaccinated. There is NO evidence that children have ever suffered from the virus in sufficient numbers to justify a vax mandate. None. Indeed, there is a body of science that suggests the opposite.

        I checked the data today. 88 percent of 12 to 15 year olds have been vaccinated. I can’t be bothered checking, but I would guess that is very high by world standards. The reason is the penalties the kids face if they are not vaccinated.
        
        The numbers of 5 to 11 year olds who are vaccinated will be heavily influenced by the sanctions on young kids who are not vaccinated. But if they are similar, I would say vaccination rates will be similarly high.
        
        Kids HATE being excluded. If they can’t go to the pool or on school trips with their mates, parents will be pressured to vaccinate. Which is exactly what the government wants to happen.
        
        Incidentally, 88 percent of Maori are now fully vaccinated. Can the road blocks come down now?

  This will break up marriages, cause huge family’s rifts and stress.
  I will do anything I can to avoid it, thinking alternative sports teams, independent school camps, the school we pay $21k a year for should provide excellent home schooling resources.

    I have a few friends that are double vaccinated but were far from convinced on the merits of the vaccination – as adults they made the choice thinking that it was marginally worthwhile but it was a close call (I am in the same boat). They are really not happy having to make this choice for their children though. As adults they could be responsible for their decision – they are really torn when it comes to making this decision for their children.
    
    Sadly I can see this causing quite a few marriages to fail in the next few months. What horrible times we live in.

All we can hope is that Labour continues to decline in the polls, and backbenchers, seeing their future livelihoods disappearing before there eyes start to cause all sorts of mayhem. Often in this modern New Zealand we are told of the “correctness” of things, things such as only someone who is Maori can give a true opinion of things that matter to Maori. Which some will see as the truth, and others will see as rubbish.
This correctness is not restricted to we alone. An example popped up in the Guardian, where the casting of Helen Mirren in the staring role of Golda Meir in the movie “Golda” is wrong as Mirren is not Jewish and therefore cannot give true feeling to the role as she has no feeling for being Jewish.
It seems that this correctness is everywhere.

    Stainless is just mild steel with a bit of chrome chucked in…its nothing special.
    All of NZ is beside the sea and SS doesn’t like it. (unless it as Moly in it)
    About 50 different grades in NZ…twice that in China.
    Easy to bend SS is low chrome…rusts in a heartbeat and is cheap!

      303/304 is easier to machine but yes it rusts on the surface unlike mild steel.

  1. In the article on this statement, Sky news however calls him a centrist and le pen far right as if to tell us who is reasonable. But how can you be centrist when you are forcing an experimental provisionally approved vaccine with death and heart disease as a side effect without personal consent and encouraging hate and two classes of people.. How can you be described as far right when you stand against discrimination.
  2. Macron says “he will annoy them(the unvaccinated) till the end” When is the end? I thought it was when we were 90% vaccinated. When is the end exactly.
  3. Unlike NZ, France has opposition that speaks out against “two classes of people” from both sides of the floor. Marine Le Pen said “This vulgarity and this violence of the President of the Republic prove that he never considered himself the president of all French people.” Stephan Troussel, a member of the Socialist Party, said that Macron is playing with fire. Where is our opposition. The green have disappeared and sold out and our liberal party no better. Is there any other country without a single party in opposition to this.

  Even then it is still deaths WITH Omicron, not FROM Omicron. Deaths WITH flu are far higher.
  
  The same for the hospitalisations in SA. Less than 20% of the people in hospital WITH Omicron are there due to Omicon. Most are there for other reasons (eg. broken legs or having babies).
  
  As Baker has told us, approx 1/3 of the deaths in NZ are WITH flu.

        Look at the graph I posted at 9:48. There is a clear bump in excess deaths contemporaneous with the Omicron wave, and not to either side of it where it is close to normal. So how else are you going to explain it?
        
        Note the bump is only 1-2% of normal yearly deaths, in NZ that would be 350-700 without the benefit of vaccinations that might reduce it to 10-20% of that.

      The concept of an “excess deaths” baseline is broken because the death numbers with or without a pandemic go up and down anyway.
      
      At the moment South Africa’s crime rate is also out of control (even more so than a short while ago). The murder rate is up 7% on last year.
      
      Meanwhile, travelling and alcohol consumption are down, so road deaths are down. But suicide is up more than 100% in some areas.
      
      HIV and TB are up due to CV19 lockdowns.
      
      So comparing one year against another and blaming all the difference on CV19 is somewhat problematic.

  I thought it was because they stuffed up the application of the final road surface and it’s too slippery when it rains (bitumen diluted with kerosene to allow application in cold temperatures but they used to much and the stones sit under a slick top layer), the result being around a third of it needing to be relaid and guess what… now it’s too hot!

  The delays are the direct result of bureaucracy and government edicts based around Covid – continual lockdowns.
  Their is a legal phrase ‘force majeur’ which covers such events.
  The government is trying to reduce the cost of the project by imposing penalties; the real reason is because Robertson has bankrupted the country, and there is not sufficient funding available for payment of legitimate expenditure.
  There was no danger to the workers out in the fresh air building the infrastructure; some time out in the fresh air would have been beneficial to the health of the many bureaucrats associated with the project.

Macron’s goal is “to draw all the attention” and “make his contenders disappear, on the Trump model”, political communications expert Philippe Moreau Chevrolet tweeted.
It is also a way to point the finger at people who haven’t been vaccinated as being responsible for the situation — instead of being himself held accountable for the record numbers of infections, Moreau Chevrolet said.

Wow. What a summer break we are getting. Can anyone recall such a sustained period of hot settled weather apparently stalled over the country? And the sea. So deliciously warm. I wouldn’t be surprised if the boffins tell us this is the hottest such period on record. If so, it will of course follow a succession of such claims. Obviously we ought not draw anything from such basic findings because we are of course a comfortably right wing community and we are rightly terrified of what it might mean to believe such empirical observations.

So even if it were yet more evidence of a climate changing, as predicted by climate modellers for decades now, we must pretend that socialists wish to control us and that is why we must disbelieve the evidence of our senses and our instruments. And why when our blog host David Farrar, a man of obvious intelligence and father of young children feels it appropriate to mock the efforts of climate change activists.

Why, only two days ago he witlessly opined that climate change activists only target western countries. Now I suppose on those grounds he would have felt safe denouncing anti slavers or suffragettes in not being able to be more instantly universal in their ambition.

But of course the desperate stupidity of his position is best laid bare by China, the country where to raise your head in protest of the state may have you sanctioned, even imprisoned for being ‘meddlesome’ or as they say, ‘picking quarrels and provoking trouble’, claiming it will be carbon neutral by 2060.

Now that target may be unmet or open to enquiry as to how it is accounted. But it is a target set by the worlds largest economy to utterly change its method of powering its economic engine in light of the threat it has perceived. Some climate activism there.

But I suppose it was a fun afternoon for the denizens of Kiwiblog to bang on about socialists wanting power and Cindy’s wedding and modellers and their models. And being wound up by distracting manufactured outrage. Declaring traditional organs of information are invalid rather than addressing the crisis at hand seems to be the new model to invigorate and dumb down the right.

What’s the word for this condition? Obtuse?

    Sure. How about a voucher system for greenhouse gas emissions allocated equally to each citizen. Want to burn some petrol/coal/diesel? Use your vouchers. Need some more? Buy them off someone prepared to sell theirs. Can’t buy any at the price you can afford? Congratulations you have found the true price of the activity you wish to engage in. Landing and berthing rights only to those who purchase appropriate credits. A market model that actually rewards those that don’t pollute. It sure would be interesting to have a model where those without resources could carbon bank.
    
    A policy of zero assistance to those who buy land subject to inundation by rising seas. That should be easy to agree to by those in denial of any climate change as it will have no impact on them. I do notice you seem content that NZ becomes 2 degrees warmer. It would make for longer summers but I’m not sure you have thought through the impact that will have on ecosystems here and around the world. Nor what considerable challenges to elements of our physical infrastructure that would present. The alarm has been raised regarding the potential of Antarctic ice sheets to release enough water into the oceans to submerge all our wharves, their feeder road and rail services, our biggest international airport and much roading infrastructure. Let’s not mention the housing stock and industry and farmed land likely to become untenable.

    Though I’m not sure if you understand the findings it presents so perhaps in turn I can summarise for you.
    
    We as a species continue to transform our physical environment through the release of greenhouse gasses. The earth’s atmosphere and oceans have demonstrably warmed as a consequence of those emissions. Each additional tonne of greenhouse gas released continues that process. We continue as a species to increase our emissions. Fair?
    
    Perhaps you take comfort that other factors, none of which we have any control over, may have a role in temperature change. It would however be a brave reader of the statistics to assert that anthropogenic emissions were not the dominant input in our warming world.
    
    But let’s imagine for a moment your apparently indifferent, even sanguine approach is warranted. That our warming world with all the challenges that poses with regard to extreme climatic events, ocean acidification, wildfire, permafrost melt, glacier retreat, ice shelf collapse and general heat induced ecosystem stress is all natural. Would it make sense to add ever increasing greenhouse gasses to the mix? Wouldn’t that be like, in fact literally be adding fuel to the fire?
    
    Might not finding a way to move away from our 18th century technology of extracting and combusting ancient carbon sources make some sense?
    
    Please feel free to help the readership with examples from the IPCC report you link to which supports such a position. I must have missed them.

      I suspect you have a comprehension problem..
      
      I have not expressed indifference about climate warming.
      
      I have merely informed you that the IPCC has now backed away from those over-heated models (once known as the 8.5 “business-as-usual scenarios”) which have been the basis for much of the Emission policy work undertaken by Agencies.
      
      The IPCC is also acknowledging the role of natural factors in climate… this means, that we are likely to see much more research being published on these matters and presumably a better understanding of climate dynamics.
      
      You may well have missed the nuances in this large report, but in brief:
      
      1.The IPCC is no longer talking of high levels of global warming (4-5deg C) in the near future.
      
      2. The World’s GhG emissions are tracking lower than once believed.
      
      So it looks like the World has time on its hands to adapt to another 1.5deg C over the next century or so.
      
      I think we have more serious ecological problems facing us…. unequal distribution of resources: leading to exploitation of forests, fisheries and degradation of soils and waterways….
      
      And wind & Solar aren’t going to be the solution to Northern Hemisphere winters.

        In the interest of finding common ground I would also remark that it is also gratifying to see you acknowledge we have multiple problems that must be confronted. “Unequal distribution” you say?         But to your points. I’m afraid you have gone all fluffy there. While we will undoubtedly learn more as more science is undertaken and findings published these will have all but zero chance of changing the trend or trajectory of our warming. You mention ‘in the near future’ we won’t be 4-5 degrees hotter. Which would be great news except even 2 degrees of warming is sure to produce profound and irreversible change to ecosystems and society. Some of those changes may have the potential to bring about runaway effects. These are potentially cataclysmic in scale, methane release from melting permafrost, lessened planetary albedo due to sea ice loss being but some. We have but a crystal balls chance of knowing just how some of these impacts will play out. So perhaps, depending on what model you care to employ, the time taken to a point we don’t want to reach is contestable.
        
        100 years you say will have us at 1.5 degrees. Perhaps. Perhaps not. That gives time to sort things out you say. I admire your confidence if not the reasoning that supports it. Pray tell, when is the best time to act on an unwanted trend? Early when identified or late when the options are invariably either more drastic, more expensive and inevitably even less politically palatable? Unless you have a planet fixing trick you haven’t yet shared? Anything less and you are resorting to faith.
        
        We know the solution. Transition away from technology that produces the problem. In particular, we need to do everything in our power to move past carbon as a fuel source. It will be incredibly hard. But it will never be easier.
        
        By the way. I quite agree it will be hard to power Northern Europe with solar and wind alone. Given the stakes I would have rather Germany maintained its nuclear programme. But here we are.

The government is going to give top priority to vaccinating young Maori kids. Because of the Waitangi Tribunal decision. But you can see what will happen. Maori parents will be way more resistant compared to other ethnicities. And so the rates will be low. And the Maori elite will attack the government.

The gulf between Maori elite and activists and Maori parents and kids ih the real world is so obvious. But the Maori elite are shameless and the government doesn’t call them out.

This morning I went to a cafe for brunch (for the first time since early August) in a central Auckland suburb.
There was a large sign outside saying to have your vaccine pass ready to show at the door.
There was nobody at the door.
Walked up the counter, nobody there. Took a menu to read while we waited. Somebody came out of the kitchen (may have been taking food to a table), told us to come back to the counter to order and someone would check our vaccine passes at the table.
Dutifully went and sat down at a table, then later one of our group went to the counter to order for us.
I commented to the group that we had now ordered and paid for food, and what would happen if any of us were unable to show a vaccine pass?
Food delivered to table. Eaten. Plates later cleared away.
Then we left.
We were not asked for our vaccine passes at all. I also did not observe anyone else showing their passes.

Nonetheless, I was mulling over why Cindy and the gang are so desperate for everyone to get vaccinated, to the extent that they are fanatically bullying people with mandates.

I suspect the reason for these actions are that the unvaxxed are super embarrassing to the government narrative.

Approximately 10% of adults aren’t vaccinated – this is nearly half a million people.

We were told Covid would kill 80,000, but that the vaccines saved them. Fair enough.

However – why haven’t 8,000 unvaxxed people died? I thought that Cindy said “Deadly Delta” would seek out and kill the unvaxxed?

“Deadly Delta” was supposed to be super infectious – far deadlier and more transmissible than the seasonal flu.

The unvaxxed destroy the government narrative.

I suspect that this is why the government wants to eliminate them. They embarrass Cindy.

Have visited retail, cafes and restaurants on numerous occasions over the past two weeks in Auckland and Northland. Only on two occasions have I been asked for the pass. A restaurant in Auckland and the cinema in Whangarei. People and businesses getting on with life. Have not heard of police carrying out random checks they have better things to do. Plenty of boats going north.

My suspicion is that she intends to retain restrictions forever, but it would be nice if the media asked the question, in any case.

Most likely, Cindy would just just answer the question by babbling unintelligible nonsense, as she usually does.

Cindy is a great communicator? Perhaps for people high on acid…

Anyway, perhaps National can ask Cindy for the medium to long-term Covid plan in Parliament?

The nz media headline story blamed the unvaccinated and has to issue a retraction . Rnz article reposted as the Heralds lead story blamed an unvaccinated person for the case at the ponsonby road longroom location. But it turns out the infected case was vaccinated and the herald issues a retraction . They now report, “ This article has been amended from a previous version that stated the person was unvaccinated”. The question is how did they get it wrong? They know it’s passport only and The restaurant owner in the article said he had been given no details about the case or their vax status. It wasn’t a wrong detail in the story – an unvaccinated positive covid case at the long room was the headline and the main thrust of the story. Are they so keen for an anti vax story that they made it up? Or did they get wrong ininformation and from
whom? Is this another case of the frozen peas where the business calls foul on a media story? What is the point of different papers when they all just repeat the same news stories.
