This is why I hold the media in contempt. Whether you liked Trump, didn’t like him or suffered from TDS you have to admit the media framed his presidency very differently from Obama or Biden.
The border crisis did not start nor end with him as president and their lies are not assisting the situation at all.

Yes, it is true and until Western Europe, the US/Canada and Australia together with Russia and China are prepared to deal with political and economic failures at the sources such migration will continue.

These migrants are largely economic migrants looking for “better lives” in so called wealthy countries.

The US/Canada has such migration from Latin America;

Europe has migration from Asia, Africa and the Middle East; and

Australia has the boat people who travel from SE Asia often via Indonesia.

Addressing issues at the source of these migration flows is the only way to stop such flows. So, the Republicans/Democrats, the Tories/Labour, the Liberals/Labor or the Socialists and Right of Europe can call these camps whatever they like, until they solve the cause of the economic migration, it will continue to be a reality!

That same money spent in the 3rd world lifts 100 times as many out of abject poverty. You cannot fix or make any sort of noticeable impact on 3rd world misery by opening borders – and in fact waving the possibility in front of people leads to exploitative horrors seen at mexican borders and in north africa (murder, slavery, most women and girls raped)

  CNN and others on the left, dropped a little later and by an even larger margin.
  
  Apparently media interest always drops off after an election. Left wing media has dropped more but one might argue that was more to do with Impeachment / Trump scandals dropping off. People on the left have said that Trump was the saviour of the left wing media in the US.

This is hardly news. Anyone with a brain realised the obvious double-standard in around 2016. That’s when I started to like the cut of Trump’s jib – the agenda was crystal clear. The reason for the double-standard is that Trump was a genuine threat to the power structure and wasn’t under anyone’s thumb, whereas Biden isn’t a threat at all and it’s now back to business as usual fucking over the people of the United States.

The whole immigration issue is wildly distorted, and everywhere.

A couple of years ago I recall many of my fellow Kiwis specifically condemning Trump for his “harsh” immigration policy.

Then you ask, what is NZ’s immigration policy? Blank looks.

Fact is, if thousands per day, hundreds of thousands per year, of illegal immigrants were casting themselves upon NZ’s shore and the NZ government was welcoming them, releasing them into NZ with welfare payments to boot, instead of sending them back to where they came from, there would be outrage.

But we don’t have a long, convenient land border with impoverished countries, or criminal organisations assisting those immigrants to land upon our shores. We live in lovely isolation. The only way to get here is by a long ocean crossing.

Fact is, NZ’s actual immigration policy is many times more restrictive and harsher in its penalties than anything Trump implemented or planned to implement, yet he was the demon for it. If NZ implemented Trump’s border policy it would be decried by Kiwis as too liberal. The Wall was the equivalent of our ocean, but no, that too was terrible.

Biden’s actions are nothing more than complicity with criminals.

Heh. There was a great piece on this at Ann Althouse’s blog in February (back when she had comments), that started with an actual piece of journalism covering Biden’s camps:

At the 66-acre site, groups of beige trailers encircle a giant white dining tent, a soccer field and a basketball court. There is a bright blue hospital tent with white bunk beds inside. A legal services trailer has the Spanish word ‘Bienvenidos,’ or welcome, on a banner on its roof. There are trailers for classrooms, a barber shop, a hair salon. The facility has its own ambulances and firetrucks, as well as its own water supply…. the most colorful trailer is at the entryway, where flowers, butterflies and handmade posters still hang on its walls….”

Althouse wondered how it might be written were Trump still POTUS and one of her readers replied with this gem:

Crowded into less than 70 acres, dusty trailers huddle around a military style mess tent, a few basketball hoops and what we were told is a soccer field. There is an ominous, blue medical tent crammed with narrow, sterile bunk beds of the type one associates with mental wards of the last century. A legal services trailer with a banner on its roof reads ‘Bienvenidos,’ or welcome, an irony that could hardly be lost on those kept here away from family, friends and the promise of America. In a half-hearted gesture towards the basic needs of its young inmates, trailers never designed for the job have been pressed into service as makeshift classrooms, a barber shop and a hair salon. A grim-looking ambulance and firetrucks stand ready in recognition of the inevitable. The camp’s water trickles reluctantly from hurriedly drilled, shallow wells. Trump was appalling. But so were some aspects of his treatment by the media. Polemic instead of journalism. There were regular distortions and unjustified attacks that, regrettably to my mind, took the focus off policy differences and the questionable ethical behaviour of him and his entourage.

I think he is just an extreme case though. Excitable distortions seem to be an inexorable trend in traditional media as they compete for eyeballs.

How does a president who not only allows but actively encourages the illegal entrance of thousands upon thousands of economic migrants every week, to the direct detriment of the citizens he allegedly represents, maintain any credibility whatsoever (granted, only in the poor deluded eyes of those who have no clue what is being deliberately foisted on a once great nation)? Based on the first 6 months of this illegitimately installed regime, I hate to think about what America will have become in 4 years, even though I know exactly how it will look.
