I would hope this term in government will wake up some of their supporters but do not have much faith it will.

    When the “pandemic” hit in February last year, The Blond and I had just got back from a dive trip (sigh, happy memories). Client (Ministry) dragged me to Wellington for advice. Thusly advised:
    
    1. The MoH will, if they haven’t already (someone should check) activate the longstanding pandemic plans, we need to be guided by those.
    
    2. Switch to Command and Control quickly, heres what that looks like, including the planning streams which you MUST follow otherwise its just daily panic sessions.
    
    Outcome?
    
    1. MoH didn’t, and I still dont know why. Maybe the Royal Commission will tell us…except that’s not happening
    
    2. C&C implemented with no forward planning capability. Daily panic ensues.
    
    I left after 2 weeks of stupidity.

  Weasel words from Davidson, who has been hoist by her own petard. Her delegated authority as Associate Housing Minister makes it clear what her responsibilities are, including:
  
  * Progress on the support and prevention pillars for individuals, families and whanau experiencing or at risk of homelessness
  
  * Responsibility for operational policy relating to transitional housing
  
  She is also required to work closely with other Ministers. In particular, her delegation requires her to work with the Minister for Social Development and Employment on the government’s work to prevent and end homelessness.

  Yes, I also heard the interview last night with Andrew Dickens. What a trainwreck.
  
  She responded to criticism from the Monte Cecilia Housing Trust that she hasn’t been saying or doing anything, claiming that she’s certainly been very vocal in speaking out about the situation and just because we don’t hear her doesn’t mean she isn’t speaking out.
  
  Umm, Marama – if we aren’t hearing you, seems like you’re not being terribly effective when you do “speak out”.
  
  She basically spent the rest of the interview trying to share the blame around – I lost count of the number of times she referred to being part of “a team” and basically tried to throw her colleagues under the bus – and saying oh, people appreciate a minister speaking plainly.
  
  As for solutions? Some airy-fairy stuff about, oh we’re building more houses, and looking to maybe buy a hostel here, an empty building there …

Ms Willis directed some very pointed oral questions to the Associate Minister for Housing (Homelessness) (15 April). The Minister was nowhere to be seen but fortunately Ms Woods stepped into the breach. Whew.

I expect there will be many more questions to the Associate Minister for Housing (Homelessness). Witless protection?

One of the reasons house prices went through the roof is that Govt Depts were bidding against 1st home buyers for houses they could then rent out to the idle and indolent!!!!

I believe this dead set useless Minister is still living in a rental with her and her brood.

It astounds me how voters continue to support the most incompetent, inept government in our history. They have made things a hell of a lot worse and have failed to deliver on any of their major policy announcements, with the infrastructure package next in line to be a dud. What the hell is wrong with people? Is it all simply Covid-19 and smiles? Because if it is, we are stuffed as a country.

  The average voting Kiwi, not to be confused with the homeless person and baby factories who generally dont have the energy to vote, have a house that is sky-rocketing in value and financed by a low interest loan; a flash new/near new car with generous repayment terms, a 60 inch TV on interest free hire purchase, the latest mobile phone also on generous repayment plans, and a nice cold beer in their hand.
