COVID-19: blame and fear for team of 5 million as Prime Minister pleads for compliance.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has pointed to personal failures of a few and stoked the fear of death by Covid, “Covid kills people…..we must never lose sight of the reasons we take these measures.”

So the blame games startand because our amazing balls Prime Minister can’t blame National for this like she does with all other problems she faces its now blame a 21 year old and others for a problem she initiated with continual lockdowns at at every whim to scare the living daylights out of the older people of New Zealand and strengthen her grip on power in this Country.

  Just listened to our local MP Kieran McAnulty on the radio this morning. Here in the Wairarapa he is bitterly disappointed on our behalf that the third day of the Wings over Wairarapa has been cancelled, the Golden shears has been cancelled, the Martinborough Fair is probably going to be cancelled. But he says it was the right decision???
  
  According to him countries like Israel lifted their lockdown too early, they had eliminated the virus like us but they lifted their lockdown too early and then they got the UK variant and then they have had to go into lockdown again.
  
  Here is the question that the supine media will never ask. What is the endgame here? We can lockdown for a year but once that year is over and we lift the lockdown and we open the border then the virus will be among us once again. And no one will have any immunity.
  
  Are we putting all of our hope on the vaccine? When we know that the virus mutates and no vaccine works forever.
  
  What amazes me is the level of social control we are prepared to put up with. And no one questions it. The More FM media guy was fully supportive. Kieran is a Labour Party man who will never go against anything Jacinda says.
  
  Who will actually represent the best interests of the Wairarapa? We have a couple of cases in Auckland and we have to cancel everything here. We haven’t had a case of Covid in the Wairarapa for months. But here we are cancelling our three iconic events because someone’s got the sniffles in South Auckland. It’s just complete madness but everyone is going along with it. Sad.

Depsite Chippy Hipkins saying South Auckland wont be a priority for vaccine, Das Komandant announced that they were always going to go to areas of highets need first, and by default that means South Auckland given location of airport (only soruce of covid in NZ) and location of workers at airport.     You should be remarking that to people that you meet that voice frustration. When they shut up fast or then start to make up bullshit excuses then you know they voted for her.
    
    It makes no sense Wairarapa or indeed anywhere outside of the greater Auckland isthmus is anything but L1.

    It does seem we are now totally reliant on the vaccine. So why, after being assured we were top of the queue, ie we were going hard and early, did 80+ countries get it before we did? If the country was already 50%+ vaccinated there would be no more lockdowns and we’d be close to opening the borders to tourism. And yet, here we are….

      And what news of our Vaccine rollout?
      
      In the US Trump rolled out the Vaccine to states within 48hrs of receiving it. He was panned for poor performance. In NZ we sat on our first shipment for almost a week before releasing it to ~167 people (100 vaccinators and 67 others).
      
      The US rolled out 1m dosees a day by the time Biden became president. If we were to do a similar ratio we would be vaccinating 15,000+ people a day. It did take time to ramp up in the US so if we assume they did more like 200,000 a day at the begining that still would mean us needing to do 3,000+ a day. I know that in Wellington last monday we did 37 so not far off. Remember in the USA Trump was ridiculed for poor performance on the vaccine rollout.
      
      Are our media and government are purposely hiding the fact that our vaccine rollout is about as successful as Kiwi build. We cant know becuase unlike overseas countries the vaccine numbers don’t appear to be published here.

      Johnson & Johnson: 1.2 doses per capita

    Somebody needs to educate our PriNZess that this virus does not just grow on trees. We had numbers down to zero, and then she and her cronies allowed it to cross the border again. And the entire population seems to have to pay the price for our inadequate border control.
    
    Bring in Frank Bainemarama – he seems to have the situation much more under control in Fiji than is the case here. Even though they have just finished the annual cruising season, their covid numbers are still at a big fat zero !

    If you mean “provides protection against infection” that is incorrect. Most vaccines provide lifetime protection.
    
    Whether this will apply to covid vaccines is unknown.
    
    Also you are exaggerating the challenge of adjusting vaccines to work on new variants.
    
    The data coming out of Israel and the UK provides me with confidence that vaccines will end the pandemic. Indeed nothing else will. Which is why I am so bewildered about how New Zealand is now about the last country in the developed world in terms of vaccine roll out. Total incompetence by the government.

        “This is the kind of vaccine that gives us hope that herd immunity may be possible,” said Raina MacIntyre, a professor of biosecurity at the University of New South Wales in Sydney who wasn’t involved with the study. At the levels of efficacy seen in Israel, she said, vaccinating about 60% to 70% of the population should be enough to prevent infections as well as illness and death and “have the best chance of resuming normal life and opening up society.”

    Anyone who dares to think and to question the efficacy of lockdowns and/or masks and/or mass dosing of the population with experimental vaccines is shrilly denounced as someone potentially having “blood on their hands” if we dispensed with either. What they fail to realise or admit, is that this unhinged response assumes and presupposes exactly what is needed to be debated: the efficacy of these measures. It is impossible for any of them to say, with any degree of certainty and scientific rigour, precisely what the state of affairs would have been absent any lockdowns, because we had lockdowns.       I was never ever in. The moment the beneficiaries got a pay rise (oxymoron I know), the govt depts got a 7 week holiday and I worked through the whole thing with a 20% salary cut, that lasted 6 months I knew this “we’re all in this together” and the team of 5 million was all bs.
      
      I have had serious illnesses in the past (got whacked by malaria many years ago) but refuse to be afraid nor have anyone tell me how to live my life.

    Every day that Auckland is locked down more people die. It costs hundreds of millions of dollars a day in reduced GDP. There is a direct causal link between GDP and average life expectancy. What this govt is doing is socialising death. Rather than risk a few people dying, everyone will (on average) live shorter lives.

Returned from south into Auckland late afternoon yesterday and started hitting queues so ducked off the motorway at Rangiruru and came up back roads through Pukekohe to home. Apparently saved myself a couple of hours of delays.

What was the purpose of stopping people going home? Were any turned away? If so why?

Got stopped at Pukekawa by a couple of cops. Asked why are you stopping me and they didnt know. “Orders, mate”, one of them said.

Why am I thinking this is just another encroachment of our basic rights? Checkpoints, records, hassles, ID’s……

      Gazza, I think it’s lack of dosh as I know of two people who have passed all their exams and fitness tests to join the police and they keep getting told there are no intakes at the moment. This has been going on for two years now. It could be because they’re both white – one male and one female. I hope they give up on the idea as they are both decent people.

        They are two highly capable scientists who understand the principles and factors involved here. It should be noted that they’re both Science Communicators whose role is to explain these concepts to the public, using their knowledge plus input from other specialists in the area. They are not required to have the job title exactly the same as the topic.
        
        So sure, you can nitpick and claim that they’re ‘not qualified’ based on a job title. At the end of the day they are perfectly qualified to make public comment in their roles, and it isn’t like they’re authoring papers on Covid or actually working on vaccines.

I accept, by her own interviewed admissions, that Ardern can be anxious, impulsive, intuitive rather than logical and, by observation, the frequent recipient of sheer good luck, which one would think cannot surely be endless. Her record of actual delivery is not a source of confidence that I should willing entrust my life, or anyone else’s, to Government hands. But is there any choice in the matter.

Having observed Kiwibuild, Auckland light rail, child poverty changes, Ihumatao, and now the rapidly diminishing target of trees to be planted even, Labour seems to fuck-up the delivery of almost everything it touches.

Since nearly all international reports on the pandemic do confirm Ardern latest statement “Covid kills”,
I believe New Zealanders have a right to such information as may for some be a life or death matter.

The Government should immediately give a detailed priority breakdown of sections of society with a estimation of when each will be vaccinated and continuous updating of numbers vaccinated against targets be a daily feature of covid news reports.

  You observe good public health manners, and shy away from situations where you might expose yourself to risk.
  If you feel a bit seedy, rest up. Take fever reducing pills if you have a temp, and pain killers if you are achy.
  Take lots of fluids, and now that winter is approaching, start taking Vit D.
  Stock up on your medical supplies.
  If you have underlying health conditions, keep in touch with your GP. Be confident that you are giving your body the chance to help itself – I firmly believe that the calm and sensible mind does assist in recovery. Fear and doubt, don’t.

When I went through the road block (SH2) yesterday at 9.00am I knew that was going to be a fuck up. 1 line – 4 police officers for a city of > 1.5m. Extrapolate that out to the other check points – say 16-20 officers max.

Good thing I was that fucked off and got up at 5.00am to pack and my wife (and kids) knew to send me off early.

The check point was interesting in itself. We went away for a surf lifesaving junior comp. The officer asked what we were doing and we told them. Then the officer asked if we were planning to spend the whole next 7 days up in Auckland (this was after we explained we lived permanently in Red beach). All information was punched into an iPhone (Why?????).

I was thinking to myself what three-fifths of a retard would actually go from a L2 area to a L3 area for a holiday etc. Then I realized we live in (little) Aotearoa. Like everything now it is dumbed down to the lowest denominator.

This couple of community found in Sth Ak has been a godsend for the gov’t. Last weeks announcements of a mill closure in Whakatane and the layoffs at the Methenex plant in Taranaki and the 200 at Vodafone has very skillfully been pushed aside as Ardern and Co have finally struck gold with another lockdown for Auckland. Ever since her holidays have ended she and the usual suspects have been looking for excuses to keep the hysteria going.
First it was the deadly South African variant up around Whangarei. Then when that did not work it was the restaurant in Albany but no, a dead end there as well but heaven bless Sth Ak has delivered.
I just love the new slogan as well.

      Yep – Hydrogen fuel for vehicles is normally produced at scale from ‘natural gas’ in a process called steam-methane reforming.
      So if we want to produce Hydrogen fuel in NZ for cars, are we going to ‘import’ natural gas now as we have closed down the Taranaki fields – You can’t make this shit up.

        Port Taranaki to small to use as a feeder port/terminal. Would require a specially built vessel then would need to go to terminal in another Port for export.
        But question is , Who would buy hydrogen thats not produced “green” . because Taranaki i dont believe you can. Possibly “Brown” but would require Gas.

        There is a European company planning to start selling hydrogen produced from PV electricity next year for 0.05 Euro cents per kWh. That is basically the same price as natural gas costs now (to home users in Europe). I don’t think climate change is a problem, but it is clear that the change to a PV powered world is about to accelerate dramatically, and it won’t be significantly more expensive than fossil fuels. Battery electric vehicles will be cheaper than petrol within 5 years given huge rate of increase in production (and steady science of learning curves reducing their costs). We will all be getting PV on our roofs within the next 10-20 years because it will be cheaper than grid supply.

        Steam reforming basically extracts the hydrogen bit of methane and turns the carbon bit into Co2. Not the cleanest way to make hydrogen.
        
        CNG in a ICE is reasonably competitive with this.
        
        I think the hydrogen-car bit would be based on H2 made from renewables ie electrolysis of water.

      No petrol and diesol.
      Rubber tyres, fertiliser, Cosmetic products.
      
      The out come is more expense for consumers. The price of all these products is going up and will reach levels where people cant afford to go to work.
      I’m picking 1-2 years.
      Why?
      There is a shortfall of 5-10 years in searching for new sources due to under investment last 5-8 years. Oil sands are not enough, Saudi is not enough whether you believe rhetoric or not.
      The real question is what is NZ fuel security policy.? Windmills are not going to cut it either.
      If we get a perfect storm in world events with protectionism, supply chains, Political instability ( NZ Oil and gas descision) we really are heading for the caves.

        I’m informed we have about 80 days of fuel (petrol, diesel, avgas etc) in NZ at any one time. Not much is it, and it’s all imported although some could be refined here also if imported? Given our dependence on imported product, why the eff did we shut down our oil and gas industry when in time of emergency, we could at least be partway to self-sufficiency?
        The ideology and deliberate leftist thinking of this Govt never ceases to amaze me.
        With China rattling its saber in the southern hemisphere, it’s not a good look for NZ, especially when our dear leader is doing her best to destroy our relationship with Australia.

If the Auckland bridge can’t be strengthened and will need to reduce load capacity into the medium term was this known when the sky path was announced?

How much money was wasted on plans, consents if it was already known sky path was unsustainable etc ?

Why hasn’t sky path been officially canned yet?

  It won’t be. Even if it is not technically feasible, there will be further studies done on it indefinitely. Supporters will keep coming up with ideas how it can be done, and they will be carefully considered over a protracted period even if obviously hopeless. Left wing politicians will want to hold out eternal hope on this. And politically savvy engineers will recognise this to.

  The Skypath is not attached to the clipons (eastern side) it is attached to the piers. Therefore the potential load limits of the clipons will not affect the Skypath.
  
  I was North Shore MP when the last major work was done to the clipons. I was told that it would give another 10 to 20 years life before load limits would have to be imposed. The second crossing, a tunnel was supposed to be planned and built during that time.
  
  A lot of design work was done around 2008 to 2010 for a 4 lane road tunnel, but not much has happened since. If they (the government) was serious about it, a new crossing could be in service by 2030.

        The new structure is attached the bridge itself as Wayne notes.

    I don’t believe that a small cycleway can span the piers. There are no such materials available. Except perhaps in the Americas Cup foil arms. They would need suspension wires connected to skyhooks, or some other miracle system. The only way it could be built to the budget would be to tack it onto the existing bridge. Surely, even the Auckland Council as stupid as they are wouldn’t spend Ratepayer’s money on a structure such as a Skypath that would have such a limited life as that of the Harbour Bridge. The Guardian reports a study from Italy showing that obese vaccine recipients generated half the antibodies after vaccination of healthy recipients. Death rates amongst the obese are much higher, but where has the “lose weight and live” message been? We’ve had a year; that should be 15 kilos for most. Perhaps it’s racist to tell people to lose weight?

  If you are obese, then losing weight will reduce you chance of getting problems from CV19 by about 90%. That is better than improvements you’ll get from getting the vaccine.
  
  But better yet, it will vastly improve your chances with the real killers: heart, cancer, diabetes etc.
  
  And you’ll be able to have more fun in life too.
  
  The best thing NZ (or anyone) could do is get that message out.
  
  And so what if it is “racist”, being woke and saying nothing about obesity puts people’s lives at risk (and costs us a bundle too).

    I had symptoms in 2020 including loss of smell and taste and the shits and a sore throat and was told to self isolate and did. No Covid. They asked me if I wanted to be tested for the Gonnorea, btw. I declined.
    Who knows what it was. I was sick as hell last year three times, but despite Covid being in circulation I didn’t catch it but the bugs with similar symptoms tagged me. Yeah he shoulda stayed the fuck home but in time the C nasty may be as seasonal as the flu and it should be up to the individual as to the decisions he makes to his movements and health screenings. You really should get screened for the clap though if you’re in doubt to where you’ve put it about.

  1). Knowingly having direct contact with a covid family (or indeed as the rumor going around – part of the same family and being ‘hidden’)
  2). Not isolating as per instructions
  3). Getting symptoms, getting tested and still not isolating
  
  The whole family should be placed in stocks, hung in a cage above Hunter’s Plaza and free rotten fruit provided to throw at them.

        Gee, Inandout, I have a couple of friends who are in increasingly desperate straits. I can only stand helplessly by.
        That’s why I spend what little money I have with the small businesses in my town. The ones who are independent contractors are hanging in there, but with a couple of employees the whole situation changes as they try to keep them in work.
        A few weeks ago I had a call from a fencing contractor who asked if I was ready to get work done to complete the work that was stopped in its tracks last year. He is trying to keep his contracting team in work as they are all young family men. I said yes – in a couple of months I’ll be financial enough (with any luck) .

Nobody has elected the media and they are not accountable to anyone, so their opinion is irrelevant. Trump was outrageously popular for doing exactly that, rightly treating the approved media as the enemy. You don’t appease your enemy, and Labour is also the enemy. Or they should be treated as such.

        Maybe there’s just a touch of difference ? Barron Trump was 13 when Trump took office, Hunter is in his 40’s at least. And DJT Jnr has come in for at least as much and probably a lot more negative press than HB, especially in the MSM as HB is a forbidden topic there.
        
        And we DO have prima facie evidence that Hunter Biden is an integral part of Joe Biden’s primitive little corruption industry. On his abandoned laptop there were two emails of note – in one he revealed that Joe demanded (and presumably got) 50% of what Hunter “earned” as part of the influence peddling (such as with Burisma as an example); and the second was an email from a Burisma executive, demanding that Hunter acknowledge why he was being paid by Burisma and get working on making Burisma’s owner’s legal problems in Ukraine go away. And guess what, a few weeks later Joe Biden starts agitating for the Ukraine prosecutor to be fired. And that is before there are ANY other mentions by anyone about getting Viktor Shokin removed. Joe then gets various others like the EU to go along with the charade, but make no mistake, it is Biden’s initiative to replace a trained lawyer in Shokin with a non-lawyer who had already served a number of months in prison for corruption. And hey presto, after Shokin is fired, Burisma’s legal problems indeed go away …. and Hunter Biden keeps getting his $1M a year.
        
        Hunter is Joe’s bagman, and intimately involved with Joe’s corruption.
        
        And that’s quite apart from the pretty unpleasant lifestyle choices that Hunter Biden has made which include partially naked pictures of his underage niece on his laptop. Anyone else but a thoroughly privileged Democrat would already have been arrested for that alone, but justice in the US is multi-tiered now, and most of the laws just don’t apply to those “important” Democrats and their kin.

        Way back in the 1990’s when Joe was a Senator and chairman of the senate finance committee they were producing a bill that drastically limited the ability of debtors to escape their credit card debts via bankruptcy. Joe shepherded that through and got it passed, and the largest Credit Card issuing Bank in Delaware gave Hunter a “position” that paid him hundreds of thousands of dollars for some very nebulous duties, and apparently he very rarely bothered to turn up at the bank.
        
        Joe was for sale cheap back then. He was known (informally of course) as the Senator for that Bank, but not in the MSM of course, D privilege applied even then.

  Having watched Trump speak at the 6 Jan meeting I would be amazed if he used a teleprompter. He spoke most fluently and rattled off numbers in context very fluently. He was not looking at the screen obviously and the numbers were coming even when his head was facing directly away.

Here comes the new School History propaganda …

In Stuff papers today, a hint of the Maori propaganda that’s going to be forced on our children with the new history curriculum.

In what Stuff labels an “in-depth article” and an “in truth article”, Florence Kerr quotes Tom Roa, a Waikato University Maori Studies lecturer on oral history version of casualties in the Waikato war.

The oral accounts, Roa is reported as saying, are backed up in accounts in Sydney newspapers of the time.

The official account for an attack on Rangiaowha, on 21 February, 1864
reports 12 people died. Roa says:

“A war correspondent from the Sydney Morning Herald reported seeing 112 bodies; this figure didn’t include those trapped in houses and a church that soldiers set alight.”

What was the date of that report, and did it say there were bodies in houses and the church, or is that from the oral history of Maori, which Roa says puts the death toll at “just over 300” – fairly precise for an account passed down through generations.

Roa also talks of new information from British records indicating two sites where “women and children were killed”.

In what war, anywhere, any time, have women and children not been killed when men have made their towns, villages, even pa, defended strongholds?

Did the Sydney Morning Herald allege women and children had been burned in a church, or is that Maori oral history? That detail is relevant.

Sounds as though the new history Ardern and her Socialists are forcing on our children equates colonial and British forces with an SS panzer division moving through France in 1944. If the school history is going to place British and colonials on a par with the Das Reich SS Division’s massacre of more than 600 French civilians at Oradour-sur-Glane it had better be able to prove its allegations, and prove them in detail.

Will the Woke History include the fact that the colonialists’ invasion force included hundreds of friendly Maori? Will children be told of the frailty of oral history?

Here’s the message for families from the report:

”And the correct record will be the one put before children as New Zealand history becomes mandatory, he [Roa] says.”

That softener for the compulsory school history, that is indoctrination, is brought to you today courtesy of your taxes – via the Ardern subsidy to newspapers.

  I’ve said this before, that if I wanted to learn about the history of New Zealand, from a factual and trustworthy source, Stuff would be the very last place I would consider.
  
  When it comes to reporting New Zealand history, I simply do not trust Stuff. They quite clearly have an agenda, and they seem determined to push this agenda of blaming everything that is wrong in New Zealand on “colonisation”, and making anybody who isn’t Maori feel guilty for things that happened a long time ago, down our throats. I do not believe Stuff can be trusted to report NZ history in a fair, balanced, and neutral manner.

    I didn’t think it looked too difficult either Steve. But then I thought teachers these days learned about the importance of correct pronunciation of people’s names at Teachers College.
    
    I learned as a school child how to pronounce vowels in Maori words, and to end the syllables with them, so I could at least make a first attempt. And presumably the child knows how to say it, so could correct any errors.

  I for one am disgusted at Ardern. Because she feels the mood shifting against her awesome popularity she decided to encourage us to direct our anger against the family in south Auckland , and the 21 year old son in particular .
  Most of us know where this will end up.
  Online abuse , death threats and who knows , the suicide of one or more of the family.
  Yet the thickos in this country will play along with Arderns nasty game and forget that we’re in lockdown not because of this 1 family in South Auckand . We’re in lockdown because of the repeated failure in our border security . Failures that have continually been pointed out to Ardern by the opposition , by viral experts at Auckland and Dunedin Universities and even her bestie, Helen Clarke.
  Ardern as leader of this country is the one to blame and the one who accept responsibility and resign.
  She needs to reflect on every General in history who’s failed big time in battle and consider wether they would have kept their job or head , by blaming the lowest private soldier in the Army

    Sorry disagree with you here. Those families blatantly flouted the law, with no thought as to the consequences for a whole nation. This is costing millions, if not billions because of the transgressions of these people. This is serious stuff and people are going to lose their jobs over it, think Queen St retailers for eg. Also Australia will be slamming the door shut on any bubble for many more weeks if not months.

So nobody has been charged yet for not wearing a facemask.

There is plenty of evidence that a face mask has no significant benefit except trying to catch coughing/sneezing on the way out from an actively sick person. If you’re not coughing and sneezing (or being actively coughed and sneezed on) then there’s bugger all reason to wear one.

If they don’t charge anybody then the fear merchants don’t get the mask wearing diktat will not get challenged in court and found wanting.

Good news today. ASB is increasing term deposit rates, be they very small, but at least that is a start.
May be some extreme!y good buys when this affects the idiots who have over committed themselves at depositors’ expense for upmarket vehicles etc.
Currently these rates only affect deposits, but will definitely flow onto borrowings.

  I am rolling over an ANZ Bank term deposit, which will be $47,101.56, tomorrow. I have been quoted 0.35% for 90 days. I paid my ANZ credit card bill on Monday 22nd February. Had I paid on Tuesday 23rd the rotten bludgers would have charged me 19.95%.
  Nobody gets charged for bank robbery these days as their rock solid defence would be that it was impossible to thieve from a thief.

Husband does a delivery to a Vax station in our area. He asks how busy they are – saw lots of people coming & going. Nek minute he’s asked if he’d like the V right there & then. He agrees. Comes home for lunch – I spot a blotchy face and ask what’s going on. He fesses up. Going back in 2 weeks for the 2nd jab. Meanwhile, this Vax team don’t have access to his medical records and he won’t tell me if he had to sign anything. I’m furious. This is a breach of medical ethics. I ask him to sleep in the spare room for the next month as he goes through this. I don’t want to be close to someone who has been vaxxed. He says no, I’ll have to go to the spare room. He’s not leaving the marital bed. One of his medical professional daughters is furious with him and the people who delivered it.
