Kiwi tourist to Oz be deported back here after nearly killing someone with a king hit in a wee mix up.

Poor sausage will never be allowed to go visit mates and family in Oz.

Defence solicitor said it was completely out of character.

Hmmm. How many people on KB could execute a king hit and put someone in a coma? That’s not in my skill set.

  No skill required, it wasn’t the hit that did it. Actually he was PLACED in a coma because of injuries sustained when the victim fell over and hit his head on the concrete driveway. Any fool can do this, and this one did. Isn’t it always “out of character”?
  So he’s in jail for 12 months, then comes home to NZ to carry on with his crap. Another catch and release!

  Alcohol doesn’t change people’s nature. It just reduces inhibitions. People do things when drunk that they wanted to do when sober. So the ‘out of character’ assertion is nonsense. Unfortunately the Australians only sentenced him to 12 monts because they know he won’t be their problem after they let him out.

    As soon as he saw her cowering, he immediately dropped his hand and never did it again.

    I witnessed a fight in Queen street several years back and saw no less that 4 separate king hits in a single brawl. When the cops arrived everyone pleaded innocence.

  Having been on the wrong end of one back in 1989 in London I can tell you that they are not pleasant. I was knocked out and fortunately only had one broken tooth. I never saw or was in any way aware of the attack until I was being lifted off the floor and put onto a seat.

    Agreed. I was taken out in a king hit in 1979 at a band gig at the Corrie Hall, Maori Hill, Dunedin. Woke up in hospital. had no idea what had happened until my mates (who took me to hospital) told me. No major damage happily.

In 2008, Peters stood aside from his ministerial portfolios – perhaps jumping before he was pushed by Helen Clark – while the SFO carried out its investigations …
Of course, the circumstances are somewhat different: Peters was serving as a minister outside of Cabinet due to New Zealand First’s confidence and supply arrangement with Labour, while he is now far more intimately involved thanks to his party’s formal coalition deal and his role as Deputy Prime Minister. [1]

Also different this time is the context of the $3 billion “pork barrel” of the Provincial Fund and questions already raised in respect to that.

Controversial Cabinet Minister Shane Jones told a forestry awards ceremony they needed to vote for him or miss out on the billions he’s handing out for provincial growth, it has been alleged … “This is reciprocity. If you want it, back it. You can expect to hear me say that every week from now on. Does it violate constitutional principles? I don’t think so.” [2]

and that a NZ First-linked company applied for $15m govt loan raises further questions.

1. Will Labour offer tax cuts in the Budget to be implemented in April 2021 if it wins the election.

2. Will it introduce a new rate of 45% as in Oz on high incomes.

3. Will it index rates to inflation ( Nats policy)

4. Will the cuts be neutral to be offset by the extra tax on high incomes.

5. Will this take the wind out of the Nats sails.

  Only #2, 45% rate for “high” earners, probably defined as $120,000, or maybe even less. With all the promises they are already making to spend our money, they have to claw it all back, plus pay interest on all the borrowing they did to fill the $11B hole Steven Joyce pointed out and everyone tried to cover up. That worked well, now they are falling into it, and so is the rest of NZ. The sooner we are shot (not a call to violence) of this lot, the better.

  So there’s not much hope for any tax cuts from Labour. Upping tax on high earners won’t make much – not enough tax payers there. They’d need to hit up middle NZ to get significant revenue.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern frustrated by RNZ Concert proposal timing.
Can anyone tell me how the Prime Minister did not know about this especially as she is the Arts and Recreation Minister also, so to bend the truth to suit her narrative is a bit ripe when the main reason she has changed her mind is because of former colleagues including Helen Clark and Michael Cullen petition against it.

  I suspect RNZ didn’t tell too many people, let alone Government, about their plans. The reaction of Government is less important in the short term than the apparent total incompetence of RNZ management.
  
  Incompetence is not too strong a word in this instance. Just who in their right mind would think that NZ Yoof will suddenly drop their streaming music to listen to something that someone else will choose what to listen to is beyond me. Yoof listens to their choices.
  
  But maybe this is not really a surprise. I looked to see who is the Chair of RNZ and this is what pops up on their website. No wonder RNZ is heading the way they are:

  RNZ would definitely have briefed – they have an explicit no surprises policy, as do all Crown Entities and businesses.

    I’m think that since the government have now said they will release a third fm channel the board of RNZ pulled a swifty bluff on the government and got what they wanted anyway:

    2. Strong public support for Concert from a range of society.

Should be the council facing criminal charges, not the poor bastard who suffered 5 years of noisy and obnoxious neighbours. We ourselves suffered a few months with some neighbours who partied extremely hard — and council were negligent for not upholding the law. I even investigated suing the council — but you can’t (or it is very difficult) to sue a council for not enforcing the noise control law.

  I had Kiwi friends who returned from China on 15 January, (after 5 weeks there) and the wife had the ‘flu’! Many of her symptoms were consistent with this virus. She went to the doctor when she got home, he diagnosed her with the flu, and that was that. No test, no follow up, no isolation. Now, she probably did just have the flu, but who knows?

Why are still paying over the top at petrol stations?
Didn’t the useless unelected PTPM tell us that it would be under control months ago. Seems worse than ever because crude is under $50 a barrel and we are still well over the top of $2.10 per litre for 91, and 95 and 98 are still well above 13 cents and 30 per litre respectively.
Maybe it has something to do with extra GST for fairy face to squander on Ardern’s leeches.
