You shouldn’t review your own response
The Herald reports:
Ardern said there also needed to be a separate look into the emergency response to the eruption, but suggested that would likely be handled by police.
“I do think we need to look at that immediate aftermath and we owe it to the families to look at that immediate aftermath.”
Having the Police review their own response to the emergency is a very bad idea. A review should be independent.
Considering 15 people died, I think a Commission of Inquiry is warranted that can look into all aspects of the disaster, and make recommendations on reducing the risk going forward. There is a lot to be covered outside the Worksafe inquiry and the Coronal one.
