Economic Advisor/Economist wanted
The Taxpayers’ Union is seeking a part-time Economic Advisor, for 20 hours a week. The job description is here.
This can be a great role for those with an interest in public policy and sound economic knowledge and skills. Ideal for someone doing a post-graduate degree.
Previous staffers in this position have gone into jobs at economic advisory firms, the Leader of the Opposition or commenced a doctorate.
The role requires providing regular economic analysis and advice on current political affairs and policy announcements, including both technical and judgement-based analysis. You will work with our Campaigns Manager, other communications personnel, researchers, and interns in developing economic insights into policy matters of the day, supporting the organisation’s campaigns, and ensuring that economic research outputs are accurate and credible.
The candidate will require a sound economic understanding and an ability to write concisely. This role includes advising those in communications roles on economic matters, and may involve drafting media releases, or occasionally contributing opinion pieces to local and national media outlets (depending on the candidate). Familiarity with public sector accounts is an advantage.
If this is of interest to you, or someone you know, send a CV and cover letter to Sara Leckie, sara@taxpayers.org.nz no later than Friday 31 January 2020.
