      Jacinda banned plastic bags after “soliciting” 65,000 petition signatures from vulnerable school children by visiting schools and putting the fear of climate change into them. She stated that 65,000 signatures was too much to ignore. 65,000 signatures out of a pool of 4,000,000.
      
      So 66,000 concerned citizens out of a what will be a much much smaller pool. After all justice is served by a jury of your peers, and if 66,000 peers don’t agree with his release, it needs reviewing.
      
      If Little and Davis order his release, without an independent review in response to public outrage, they may as well re-instate plastic bags, remove the latest petrol tax, and re-instate drilling for oil.

      Aren’t Labour looking for a replacement to look after the Labour Youth? The test to see if Labour agree with his release would be to ask: “Upon his release, would you be willing to take him on, to look after the Labour Youth Camps: And would the young Labour girls be happy to have him around?” If the answer is no, you have your answer and he should stay inside.   Funny MW @ 8.09 am this gem was followed by the Minister of Health saying they have increased the nursing numbers by 1500 since they were elected. The COL are scratching for some good news to push along with a rush of promotion of the SLG so perhaps there is a poll on the way soon. Unfortunately it has most likely been put on hold as the recent UN jaunt yielded little to help the cause plus there are a raft of serious issues still needing cleaning up. The carpet is already pretty bumpy so many past “solutions” as they have worked through the “process”.

  The further hypocrisy displayed by Winston is evidenced in his paranoic “waka-jumping” law.
  The reason given for that is the importance of preserving the party voting results as recorded in the Election. There is absolutely no endeavour to preserve policies voted for.
  
  Further, it would seem, the waka-jumping (laughing known as the “electoral integrity” bill) applies to List Members. Electoral Members would seem to face attempted re-election in a forced by-Election, which of course can change the party balance.
  Which party has List Members only?
  
  So what is of ultimate importance, is how you voted (numbers), not why you voted or for what (policies) you voted.

I’ve been thinking overnight that National is the only party that can be trusted to honour their 2020 election policies.

One of the downsides of MMP is that in establishing coalitions the horsetrading renders pre-election pledges meaningless. This means that Laboour, the Greens and NZF can promise the world and renege with impunity by blaming the compromises that coalitions bring (Winston, among other things pledged to buy back the power companies – what happened to that?)

More should be made of this.

National is the only party who can be trusted to deliver what they pledge.

At the moment people are obsessed with politics. For some of them it is the only thing. Donald Trump, climate change policies, politics around race relations, sexual politics – everything has become politicised.

Traditionally we have had a hierarchy of importance involving God and family and country. In that order.

So that means for me that even though I support Donald Trump, he is not like the “Messiah”. I just like what he is doing. Similarly I think our prime minister has no clue. But I still pray for her. I still want the best for her.

But I think most people would agree with me that family is more important than politics. Our family should be a great focus of our concern. Similarly country is important. Not in a political sense, but in a love for our country, our land and our people.

And finally God helps us to not lose our joy when things on earth don’t go so well. If for example Labour wins the next election, that is not the end of the world, for me anyway.

As the ancient prophets Nehemiah once said “Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10

  Saw a fascinating doco last night which presented a strong argument that the resurrection was fabricated purely to strengthen some of his followers claims that they should be his rightful inheritors – i.e. those who he ‘appeared’ to.

No doubt the Police will be seeking out supplies of solvents today to deal with those demented people who glue their sorry arses to the tarmac of SH1 at the Basin Reserve. Whatever they may do, the voters of Wellington probably deserve it.

Ms Ardern making it into the Daily Mail this morning and being quoted as saying:

‘We have to now make sure…that we have this conversation, that we talk about our history much more openly.
‘We were only really telling, I believe, 50 percent of the story, and not always telling it well.’
New Zealand should continue to learn and tell the full story of its past, she added.
‘I’d ask anyone to imagine what it would be like to hear a story be retold, knowing that, actually, you lost an ancestor directly because of those encounters and not feeling like that’d be adequately told.’

I would like to know when Ms Ardern is going to openly acknowledge the many instances of unprovoked attacks by Maori on European explorers and settlers. Tasman? DuFresne? The Boyd? To mention just a few. I really have to question how much New Zealand history she learned during her childhood and at University – I suspect not a lot.

In case you missed it (and our media won’t tell you), Schiff and his Democrats, along with Republicans, met with one Kurt Volker, who was a U.S. diplomatic envoy to Ukraine for two years. Volker basically said there was nothing wrong with what Trump did, no quid pro quo, etc. This is why Schiff scurried away from waiting media after the meeting and had nothing to say.

The Volker testimony has now been released and once again, we find that the Democrats’ version of the facts is false.

That fact explains why Republicans yesterday said there was no case after hearing his testimony and why Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) ran scurrying away from reporters refusing to comment.

The full transcript pretty much blows their theory of the case for impeachment out of the water.

Kurt Volker was a U.S. diplomatic envoy to Ukraine for two years. He said that contrary to the whistleblower complaint there was never any effort to get Ukraine to dig up dirt on Hunter or Joe Biden.

From The Federalist:

“As you will see from the extensive text messages I am providing, which convey a sense of real-time dialogue with several different actors, Vice President Biden was never a topic of discussion,” he said.

Volker testified that he never even mentioned a delay on U.S. military assistance to Ukrainian officials until late August, when news reports indicated that funding had been put on hold. Volker’s statement directly undercuts claims that the funding was part of a deliberate quid pro quo meant to force the Ukrainians to take certain actions in order for the military aids to be released.

Volker’s testimony also reflected badly on Democrats. Volker said that Trump didn’t have the best view of the Ukraine because of their involvement in allegedly helping the Democrats undermine him during the 2016 election and Trump was not happy with corruption in the country.

Volker testified that he believed the allegations of Ukrainian meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential elections on behalf of the Democrats were “plausible.”

He said on the other hand that no one on the Trump team was trying to do that in the 2020 election. “The point about Ukraine avoiding anything that could play into U.S. elections in 2020 is a message that I know our Chargé in Ukraine, Amb. Bill Taylor, reinforced in other meetings,” Volker asserted.

He said that he was not on the Ukraine phone call being looked at, but that overall it was a “good” call and in no way was there any quid pro quo or linkage of aid related to the Bidens.

“All said it was a good, congratulatory call, that they discussed the importance of fighting corruption and promoting reform in Ukraine, and that President Trump reiterated his invitation to President Zelensky to visit the White House,” he testified. “I was not made aware of any reference to Vice President Biden or his son, which I only learned about when the transcript of the call was released on September 25, 2019.”

When I buy fruit juice, I like to know the relationship between the name of the juice and the actual content of that juice.

For example, if I buy cranberry juice I know that it will never be 100% cranberry, for it would be undrinkable. Maybe it is the same for rugby.

Of the 31 athletes in the Japanese squad (Ref: https://www.rugbyworldcup.com/teams/japan)
– 16 have Japanese names
– 1 has a Korean name
– 4 appear to be Caucasian
– 9 appear to be Polynesian
– 1 (judging by his name) is Japanese/Polynesian

Maybe this is the best blend to produce a winning formula for the Japanese. This sends a message to the Japanese public that an obsession with “purity” may not be the only way to view the world (or more precisely, the internal workings of Japanese society and its institutions).

It would be interesting to analyze the constitutions of the other teams.

So the Herald has interviewed a 18 year old girl who was kidnapped as a baby, but has paywalled the story on their web site. I hope the Herald made her a proper payment for her professional services in granting the interview since the story is for the Herald’s gain. She may have declined to be interviewed if she had realised the story was going to be paywalled.
Otherwise the action of the Herald is just sick. This is especially as the Herald has not paywalled other stories commemorating the 15th anniversary of the ‘Herald on sunday’.

Seems like our beloved whistleblower in the US may be in for a spot of bother. They signed their statutory form under penalty of perjury stating that they had no outside contacts about their complaint before delivering it to the IG. And we know that to be false as they not only revealed it to Congress and Schiff, but discussed it and planned the release of it with Schiff. Schiff admitted being contacted by the WB and in a letter he released back on 9 September he uses the exact same distorted quote from a Ukrainian website as in the WB report – showing clear evidence of coordination.

Under the WB statute that means he automatically loses his WB protections and is liable for indictment. Wonder if the DOJ has the balls to follow this up.

Among their techniques – start a graph at a “local minimum” – e.g. the end of a cooling period.
This makes it look like rapid “warming” is taking place when in fact the temperature is merely going to what it was BEFORE the cherry-picked starting-point.
See how blatant and easy it is?
It’s like only looking at the daytime and ignoring the night!
