      But what matters is how much influence her virtue signalling speeches have via the media and social media. Is Ardern still the Princess?
      
      Talking of fairytales, there was one element in Greta Thurnberg’s speech that is worth discussing: accusing politicians of “fairytales of eternal economic growth”. There has to be a limit and a balance – economic stability and innovation, but plenty of deadwood removal too.
      
      The greatest concern is that even the Greens don’t dare speak up against what they used to criticise: eternal demographic growth.
      
      Even people who don’t believe in anthropogenic climate change must be getting thoroughly sick of increasingly crowded cities and having diminishing influence over Council and central government decisions as populations grow.

        For the last few years under both National and Labour, our yearly GDP growth has almost exactly mirrored the growth in our population.
        
        It’s not growth. It’s a political illusion. And as you point out, the huge increase in population has had profoundly negative impacts on the quality of our lives.
        
        Will future generations thank ours for when the population exceeds 5 million? Will they be grateful when Auckland has over 2 million people and all the problems that brings? I reckon that they’ll curse our shortsightedness.

        The prospect of New Zealand being inundated by tens of thousands of climate refugee’s can never be discounted.
        The overpopulated, bursting at the seams mega nations of SE Asia are entwined in anthropogenic climate change which is not about to reverse itself in the immediate or distant future. The options for our Asian neighbours are limited, they either intiate change now or flee to where pastures are literally greener.

        Thunberg is certainly highly emotive about the issue, but then what else to you expect when the MSM force feeds the public a diet of climate alarmism.
        
        We have had 50 years of apocalyptic predictions that have not come to pass, and the level of public debate on the issue is so clouded, than many people have no idea what to believe anymore. The sad fact is when our default setting is to go to the worst case scenario, is it any wonder that so many of our young are so worked up about this?

      I am just so puzzled, why would anyone study years and years to achieve their PHD in this or any subject, when a 16 year old girl not even finished school is such an authority? She gets to speak at the UN climate summit as an authority? I know most of the countries attending are woke, but this is ridiculous. I have no idea how or why the world pm’s presidents (with the exception of a few) are bothering to listen to a 16 year old who has mental health issues, and has no qualifications what so ever?????     Jacinda’s accent is not really typical, Jack – it’s at the “fucking awful” end of the Kiwi accent spectrum.
    
    It seems that we’ve been blighted by PMs and potential PMs with the same lazy diction, slurred consonants, dropped syllables and distorted vowels. Helen Clark was awful, John Key was awful, Bill English was awful, and Simon Bridges is fucking awful (he’s also guilty of ghastly “vocal fry”).
    
    Much as it pains me to mention the poisonous little man, Winston Peters has one of the best speaking voices in Parliament.

I just heard Jacinda saying what a “great success” her 20 minute reach-around with the POTUS was. This meeting followed her keynote address to the UN Climate Summit in NY earlier in the day, where she spoke after the opening address presented by the 16 yo Swedish vegan, Greta Thurberg.
According to Greta’s bio, she actually became very ill at the age of 11 just thinking about what climate change and global warmimg was doing to the world. A little later, Greta was then diagnosed with Autism and Asperger’s, along with other conditions. She even insisted her entire family become Vegan and give up flying.

The adults exploiting Greta should be ashamed of themselves…

      Remember she is, at the end of the day, a 16 year old girl with Asperger’s. She sees things in a very defined and black and white way.
      
      That is what makes her so effective from one point of view, and also slightly dense from another.
      
      I feel for her to an extent, she’s clearly passionate about it and wants to make a difference, which she is doing, but she’s also been lumped in with a bunch of lefty activists who are moulding the message into their preferred one of using climate action to establish a new leftist model for the world.
      
      She’s right to be pissed off with the establishment for cynically turning to the youth and crying “they’re our future! We should listen to them!” When really they should get off their canape shaped arses and actually do some fucking decent and sensible climate policy. Stop leaving it to the hard left to shape the conversation with their green new deals and vegan preaching.
      
      Frankly I don’t give I fuck about whether some people believe CC is real or not, better environmental policy is a no-brainer.

  The keynote address may entail an opening keynote and closing keynote speaker.
  An opening keynote speaker generally sets the underlying tone and summarises the core message or most important revelation of the event. A closing keynote speaker will usually end a conference on a high note and leave audiences with a sense of optimism.
  Jacinda did not perform either role.
  Jacinda was only one of the many speakers who spoke within a 3 minute timeframe allotted to all
  key delegates.
  Jacinda’s visit/speech was a classic example of tokenism.
  It was also an out and out act of self aggrandisement.
  An act where she attempts to exaggerate her own importance or power.
  To claim it as anything else is misleading, a false representation and what we now refer to as fake news.

Yesterday Harvey at YSB and Nostradamus on here informed us that Eva Braun’s undergarments were sold by Humbert & Ellis Auctioneers in Towcester, England, for 3,700 pounds ($4,614).

There was some speculation that the buyer may have been a New Zealander.

This has me genuinely perplexed and I would welcome reader’s thoughts.

Would said undergarments end up:

1. Put away in a drawer somewhere?
2. Framed and up on a wall?
3. Along with other Nazi garments put on a female mannequin resident in the living room or perhaps bedroom?
4. Personally worn by the new owner, perhaps on trips to the mall?

  American supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh was accused of sexual assault again in a New York Times piece last week. As a young man he was accused of waving his genitals in a young woman’s face at a party. The newspaper omitted the part about the woman in question has no memory of the incident.
  
  In other words it was just another hit piece by the left of someone they don’t like and want to see impeached. A common theme from the left at the moment.
  
  On Fox New media buzz contributor Phillipe Reines said that Brett Kavanaugh would win no prizes as man of the year. Meaning that some of the reporting must be right. He must have been sleazy at some level.
  
  Here is the thing. Brett Kavanaugh was a decent young man from everything we can objectively know. He has a calendar from his younger days and in it he has entries like “mowing lawns for Nancy” and “dinner with Dad and Chuck”. In other words he was a thoroughly decent young man.
  
  But the left has tried to destroy his reputation and label him as a sexual predator in his high school days. When by his own admission he was a virgin at high school and a considerable time beyond that.
  
  That’s the left today. They are not virtuous. They will lie and cheat and steal to get their way. In this case it’s to change the supreme court so they can keep abortion the court ordered law of the land.
  
  If you are of the left you need to study this case. These are your people. And they have been shown to lie and destroy a good man’s reputation to get what they want. Decent civilisation is not possible with people like this in charge. The left need to be resisted so that we can have a decent civilisation that respects people and the rule of law.

Listening to Ardern talk about how she is meeting reps from IT giants for them to update her on their progress will the tasks she set them after March attack, it was hard to ignore the arrogance of her tone, and expectation that they ‘report to her’. These are companies with revenues far outstripping NZ GDP but she treats them like so many Govt Depts or working groups she has put in train.
She will be surprised at the low level responses she gets. They will send a ‘Marketing VP’ who will prepare a two page statement meaning absolutely nothing.

    Yes, Terry is a long time campaigner for basing climate change initiatives on real science (not manipulated science like that of the recently discredited Dr Mann) and there is a strong group in NZ that works with him. The list of the 500 scientists and experts who are signatories to the letter is very impressive and from most countries in the world. Even if their views are challenged, at a minimum it does strongly indicate that the science is definitely not settled.

The number of things she said that “they had a conversation about”, meant about a 2min conversation on each subject.
He (President Trump) “showed interest in” means he asked her a question about gun control (buy back) what we don’t know.
It appears, that I could have a longer conversation with more meaning and results with a tourist arriving at Auckland airport. At least I could get them to spend money on NZ attractions.
Summary:
At this meeting, she barely had time, after pleasantries at the beginning and end, to read out the list, let alone “have a conversation”.

Is it just me or are more people now prepared to come out against the climate change religion? Of course stuff has been pushing CC very hard recently but I do sense that may have sparked people into questioning the whole thing more.

I am yet to see any actual evidence that CO2 is in any way related to climate. It appears to be a made up theory by somebody & then somehow accepted as fact. All I have ever seen is opinion not evidence

If you look under the media climate change related U.N stories in Facebook though, comments critical of the climate alarm have many more upticks than downticks. We need to remind marginal voters at every opportunity ‘Would you vote for a Party that did ( fill in the gap) or tolerated ( fill in the gap).

Its going to be a close run thing IMHO and could come down to a few voters changing their minds after be reminded of the COL behaviour over the past term.

      Fletch, they had a discussion around our changes to gun laws and how the buy back worked.
      
      She was asked by a reporter (clearly seeking a global scoop) if she sensed any appetite by Trump for gun laws reform, she said she “sensed” his interest in the subject, rather than ideas for law changes.
      
      That seems fairly straightforward. I wouldn’t expect even Trump to get into suggesting law changes with a foreign lefty leader so Ardern’s comment is a perfectly boring answer.

      To send the Presidents people a list of 2 things, I wanted to talk about in 10minutes of the 20 min.
      The time line would have been offered as:
      0-2min ….welcome and intro’s
      2- 12 min…Discussion and request for further meetings with our respective delegations on free trade starting with the possibility of removing the tariffs on steel.
      12-18min….joint questions, on these topics only, with the press
      18-20min..final goodbyes and pleasantries.
      All other things are fluff and nonsense.
      This would pave the way for some actual results, beneficial to BOTH countries (something President Trump is hot on)

        I see the TVNZ and RNZ are pushing it as “high profile” and a “feature”, but actually in Trump’s schedule it is a very minor blip. He has 4-5 other scheduled meetings either side that are rated as more important with Press access.         It sounded more like a random shotgun blast of what SHE wanted to say, a conversation is a 2 way thing.
        She ran off at the mouth and he sat and nodded, squeezing in the odd comment where he could.

        They could not possibly have had a “conversation” on that many subjects, in such a short period of time.

      Trump has shown in his presidency that he does’nt trust every word his advisors tell him, and relies upon his gut instinct developed over the years in business, to get a good handle on any given situation.
      He would have wanted to meet Jacinda, just to eyeball her for himself to gauge what sort of person and leader she is.
      He would have politely listened to her during the conversation and reserved his opinion of her to himself and his closest team of officials.
      Trump is a busy man with huge global issues to contend with, and it was gracious and welcome that he would give some of his valuable time to meet and chat with the Prime Minister of New Zealand.

The honey war is growing between New Zealand and Australia. It is over the right to sell branded “manuka honey” in China. Chinese buy it for hundreds of dollars per kilogram.

Manuka honey is made from Leptospermum scoparium trees, which, the Sydney Morning Herald reports, are commonly known as “manuka” in New Zealand, Tasmania and southern Victoria, and in other parts of Australia as jellybush, tea tree or goo-bush.

The newspaper reports that the NZ Government is backing the NZ honey industry in seeking to trademark “manuka honey” in China. It reports that the United States “intellectual property office” has rejected an NZ bid for similar certification in America.

You can stop buying your truck transported fruit and veges and grow your own (without nitrogenous fertiliser which is made from natural gas). You can expunge all plastic from your life. You can never fly again.

All these strikers can do all these things and more and make a real difference. They do not need the Government to do anything.

  Doesn’t Stuff have sub-editors any more ? Their story has it that the victims gave access to their bank accounts to the scammers who then “unwittingly” transferred the money out to other accounts.
  
  I would say that the last thing those transfers were was “unwitting”, the scammers knew exactly what they were doing.

      The King’s second and third quotes actually run on in the diary, and they continue:

School funding is set for the biggest shake-up in a generation with a new “equity index” to replace the current decile system from 2021 or 2022.
Chris Hipkins says the Cabinet has “agreed to the in-principle replacement of deciles with an Equity Index” – a new system allocating more funds for children with risk factors such as their parents being on benefits

Isn’t it hilarious that they spend millions rearranging the deck chairs.

Funding isn’t the issue.

    Deciles are calculated using the income levels in the schools catchment area .
    
    The new equity index is calculated using the number of kids who are supported by a benefit and/or are known to be getting the bash from their parents.
    
    There will be a very tight correlation between decile and the new equity index.
    
    Low decile school funding will likely increase. So little Johnny’s school will receive extra funding if little Johnny’s parents are dopehead unemployed child bashers.
    
    How on earth that will solve the root cause of little Johnny’s educational barrier, that being the home environment….. I don’t know!

Just hd the misfortune of listening to Marcus Lush. Didn’t like it when the first two callers weren’t swallowing the Cliamte Alarmist coolaid, and had the cheek to ask a caller if he had read anything on the topic. Trotted out the usual frauds around 97% and most scientific bodies agree that the earth is warming and reputable news outlets are not allowing the sceptic viewpoint. Fuck him. I actually think sceptics need to start being more militant, start with a boycott of companies advertising on Stuff, and the rest of the media that do not allow dissent. This is not Salem.
