    Thanks dime, Im a bit bloody lucky, and thats the truth. Weve known each other for around 10 years, worked together. Always admired her work ethic and her professionalism. Even offered her a job when I formed my company 6 years ago, glad she turned me down – always thought Id find it hard having such a complete fox with a brain working for me, especially when we became friends.
    
    My late wife knew her, and said to me in the weeks before she died “shed make a great mum for the kids”. Turns out she was right. She missed the bit where shes a stone cold fox, and a great partner too.

    Its her house art, Im moving in with her – I sold my own house when labout had been in power for a month, only saw downside, sold all but 2 of my Auckland investment properties as well, so glad I did. We are doing my holiday place up, then in a year or two, when mine have left home, downsizing and building our own. We will keep her holiday place as well.

An update on automated supermarket checkout technology at the below link. More low level jobs going in favour of AI, automation and self scan / checkout.

It won’t happen overnight …. But maybe it will. A New Zealand trial is under way. The more personnel costs loaded on to businesses the faster one-person models will be adopted. (That would be the shopper.)

Amazon Go – auto scanning and paying at exit, untouched by human hands except the shopper’s – is being rolled out across the US. Other disruptive technologies also in play in the sector.

Including New Zealand’s IMAGR that has developed Smartcart, a cart based version of Amazon Go. It is being trialled here.

    Usually only a couple of the manned checkouts are open. If you have a large trolley-ful of groceries there isn’t enough space for you at the self-service checkouts, but there’s a huge queue for the manned ones.

Questions are now being asked by NZs nurses were they conned or mislaid by their union and our ticky tacky Peters selected Coalition of Corruption and Chaos Government.
Of course it is all about perception and promises to make sure NZs nurses didn’t go on strike again. The answer by the negotiators was offer the nurses amongst other things ,a lump sum payment of $2000.. Seems when the nurses got their pay slips and the so called $2000 dollar lump sum. Guess what the $2000 had been gouged and after gouging had taken place it quickly became circa $1000.In essence a Claytons $2000.
Just another dirty sneaky back door trick by Peters selected bunch of no hopers,as they and their trade union sycophants completely mislaid the hard working nurses to accept the offer.Nuff said.

      Yet Prince they still fail to understand that the tax cuts so quickly abolished by the COL who as we have seen desperately needed that and so much more would have seen so much more disposable income for everybody. Targeted at low/middle income groups who needed the most correction as well as acknowledgment of their contribution to the recovery. It might have also had an effect on the level of MP’s pay increase being more realistic.
      But instead because their need for a bigger tax grab that as we see is falling short saw them abolished while wage rates started to be artificially pushed up. There will be zero sympathy for the greedy nurses for their tax problems and being led astray by their union but do however understand like the COL they believe intervention is the answer.
      Again we see the Fool Factor (unintended consequences) is the most dominant element in the actions of the COL. It is an added bonus to see it finally also being felt by their faithful followers who so blindly believed everything they were told only to find it was all fairy dust on an old turd. Lol

They did so well with their ACC sexual violence contract, they could run the sex camps too, open mental health wings, and coordinate a mandated nationwide Wear Black On Thursdays campaign.       But SR lest we forget the biggest and most devastating cut that would have helped stem higher health funding demands. Reduced cost for doctor visits that would have been instrumental in giving primary care to so many still struggling to get there. Sure we know this was a knee jerk reaction to the conservative cut intended by National but it was the earliest cut made from their health budget as well as one of the earliest broken promises. It is a challenge to keep up with all their failings and now they are having to fight battles within their own ranks which might mean some even more rash decisions being rolled out.     Hardly rockape it was nothing more than a cash bribe that distracted the attention of the rank and file to let the union seem to look like they were getting them a good deal. Same approach as Labour making rash promises to gather votes only to forget them when the count is finished. They even failed there too and it was only the old drunk who made life harder after crossing the House to the treasury benches. His promises secretly stored away trumped theirs so it was pay to stay or else. Both running true to form as they have both been held back in previous outings by their individual handicaps to lift the odds for a winning finish but both extracting the prize from the taxpayer.   So Tamaki Regeneration Company (or whatever they are called) have done an absolutely amazing and speedy job of turning Glen Innes into a large section Housing NZ slum to a quality housing mixed use estate.

He could come out today with findings that Vladimir Putin had himself been sitting at a desk in Silicon Valley directing all Facebook and Twitter traffic and commandeering Infowars, and middle America would not give a toss about Mueller. One thought refuses to leave me. It seems so utterly immoral and unbalanced, so completely unjustifiable and so squandrously wasteful, for Little and Peters, Labour and NZ First, to commit to spending $23 million tax-payer dollars on the Pike River “re-entry” in order to gratify the emotional sentiments of a noisy few.

That $23 million dollars might have spent far more productively on the West Coast itself, achieving a far more substantial and long lasting impact than this money-down-the-drain act of wayward political grandstanding.

  After all this time there will be very little remaining of the miners, and what does remain will be difficult to identify.
  
  To begin wheeling out a couple of wheelbarrows full of bones etc. may well be very distressing to those who have now spent years in trauma recovery.
  
  Ask a coaster – this experiment is not what they want, it is purely a political roadshow being endlessly promoted at enormous cost to all taxpayers !

  The expat news media in Thailand reports on numerous incidents of tourists or expats left seriously out of pocket due to accidents or illness because they either don’t have insurance or didn’t read the fine print.
  I’ve heard of patients that the hospital will not discharge until the bill is settled, leaving parents back home scrambling to raise mortgages while costs continue to rise.
  One minute you can be gaily puttering along on a little hire motorbike without a helmet and the next blindsided by a drunk pickup driver running a red light on the wrong side of the road.

  Some families are so sick of the constant spotlight that they have moved out of the area so that they can start putting their lives back together.
  
  It is difficult to find anybody on the coast who has a commitment to retrieving the remains, most coasters are just over the years of constant focus on what was a very dark day in history.
  
  The 23 million could have been better spent on the coast. A 23 million legacy could have left a real positive mark, but instead it is being invested in perceived altruism !

    Don’t forget there are still 2 miners down in the Strongman mine. Their NOK are not demanding tax payers risk lives to bring them out.
    
    As previously mentioned by someone on here if it is found that the gas sensors down in the mine were covered up, those that knew should be held accountable rather than a witch hunt just after Peter Whittall.
    
    I hear it was common knowledge amongst miners working there that unsafe practices were common.

Yet I struggle to remember what I did last Tuesday. So how did they do it?

        I doubt the memory powers of Australian Aboriginals and other indigenous people are on a par with the powers of today’s memory competitors in the Western world. But it isn’t racist to point out that the ‘stolen generation’ were in many ways the ‘saved generation’ given child mortality and abuse rates in the Aborigine community. I got banned several years ago for expressing my opinion of the mighty Corin Dann. I have read comments on this blog about him that made mine on Whaleoil look like a compliment. I guess free speech is only free if it lines up with another person’s opinion.

    Woodhouse was taking a Ministers shoes viewpoint. It is ultimately a discretionary call and the Aussies have decided to the contrary. It does not bother me either way. There is merit in denying criminals entry, likewise merit in allowing a peaceful free expression of ideas. Farage is a courageous man and it’s just awful to think the Greens would say they’re the free speech party because Manning, but Farage is implicitly a murderer for standing up for the nation of England over the other nations annexing it.   I look forward to Rabbi Sacks stopping his assault on free speech all across the world and expressing sympathy for these assault victims. But i think what we should really be mindful of is the non existent backlash to POCs and the extremely wealthy and powerful Golders Green community. That’s what matters in England. Not the English. Not their inalienable rights and democratic preferences. The feelings of the diverse. Ozzie getting authoritarian and looking to reprogram in compulsory re-education classes those who engage in LGTBQI “hate speech”.

The LGBTI legal service has lodged an anti-discrimination complaint in Queensland against 25 people for “engaging in public acts of hate speech” during the same-sex marriage postal survey last year.

Some people named in the complaint have public profiles.

“We are taking this action against people who think ‘it’s OK to say no’ means it’s OK to say ‘burn the faggots’,” Alexander said.

She mentioned other comments including “send poofters to their own island”, “you are all getting rooftopped” and “Hitler had the right idea about homosexuals, burn them.”

Alexander said people named in the complaint would be required to attend a compulsory conference. They would be given the opportunity to make amends, including removing offensive posts and making an apology.

Those who refused could then be pursued under the anti-discrimination act.

      Faafines have a very high suicide rate.
      Btw, didn’t you see all the old Polynesian guys protesting about gay marriage a while back?
      I doubt if there were many of those old dudes who didn’t treat his missus like a punchbag.
      The reason they don’t like gays is because there’s so much stuff in their bible against it.
      Of course not many of them would have been faithful to their wives just because there’s a commandment against adultery.

  Right PaulP what a blithering idiot to be in the roll on Minister of Employment. No surprise to hear him make his pitch to get into the biggest political comedian stakes when he said his target is to halve native unemployment. You bet he is reluctant to be anything but humble when he speaks of sweet cheeks. He thinks he will be at the head of the line for the next budget which only adds to the humor as that line is already extending by the day so old Willie might end up in the far Que.

A new rubbishing of NZ men? And who’s leading it?

Helen Clark says NZ may have the worst rate of violence against women in the developed world!

Radio NZ’s report says that Clark was referring to a study by Georgetown University’s Institute for Women, Peace and Security in the the United States, that ranked New Zealand 18th in terms of women’s peace and security.

Red Radio doesn’t say that’s 18th of about 152 nations. The study also ranked NZ as higher (better) in “peace and security” for women than Ireland, Portugal, France, USA, Poland, Japan, Italy, Malta and Greece.

New Zealand’s Minister of Housing and Urban Development Phil Twyford reasserted the coalition government’s intention to abolish Auckland’s urban growth boundary at a recent environmental summit. Environmental Defense Society (EDS) CEO Gary Taylor expressed concern about eliminating “rural-urban boundaries” (urban growth boundaries, or UGBs) altogether, an Labour Party election promise. The Labour Party leads New Zealand’s coalition government. The minister responded: “We could build a Vancouver of the South Pacific; beautiful but utterly unaffordable.”

According to Politik (which calls itself “New Zealand’s most authoritative news and political analysis website”) “Twyford said the only way to deal with the affordability issue was to deal with the land price issue and that meant dealing with the artificial scarcity of land caused by the planning system and the availability of finance for infrastructure.” He added: “I’m interested in us fixing this totally dysfunctional urban land economy.”

The dysfunctional urban land economy is, to a large degree, the result of urban containment policy used in Auckland that virtually outlaws detached housing subdivisions on the urban fringe required to maintain affordability. Indeed, the vast expansion of the middle-class during the decades following World War II owed much to such housing developments, not only in New Zealand, but also Australia, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, much of Western Europe, Japan and other places as well.

A Question of Values

Twyford characterized action on the housing affordability crisis as a “question of values,” and said “This is for us, for Labour, for our coalition government, this is fundamentally a social justice issue.” He added: “If we don’t deal with affordability we will have completely wasted the opportunity that has been given to our generation.”
