Regarding the appalling statistic of 11,000+ overstayers in New Zealand at any time –

A simple and far cheaper way of getting rid of these parasites without bothering Immigration officers:

Using the effective, age-old practice of Bounty Hunting, can I suggest publishing all the mugs and relevant details of all the overstayers on a Government website, which is then advertised as a source of tax-free income for those of an investigative or patriotic disposition.

Immigration must have this on file, plus unique information such as height, tattoos etc. so, load em up.

Green Category: Exceeds visa from 2 weeks to four months – $3,500 cash reward

Yellow Category: Exceeds visa from four months to twelve months – $7,000 cash reward

Red Category: Exceeds visa by over twelve months – $15,000 cash reward.

Remember, a lot of overstayers are employed, housed or shielded by other undesirables so a fine of $50,000 plus up to three years imprisonment and / or deportation if not a NZ citizen also applies.

Watch them get dobbed in – those extra cops we were promised can help with this for their first year. Indians would be the first to go. Tougher to get rid of the PIs but remember Tongans don’t like Samoans and vice versa.

      But pdm as we say recently we are also seeing along with freedom camper are other who come with nothing to “live off the land” and healthy trash bins.
      Obviously far fewer are opting for fruit harvesting unlike back in the day when they just rocked up at the orchard gate. Industry is already up to 12000 legally imported pickers this year and needing more.

  There’s a government department that chases overstayers & the number of offenders has dropped 50% in recent years. There are about 10,000 overstayers. If that’s too much for you complain to your MP or someone.

Ron Mark didn’t misuse military aircraft, they just happened to be misguidedly passing his back porch –

Labour didn’t supply booze to underage children, their caterer just made an unfortunate miscalculation –

JAG didn’t mean to be nasty about old white men – we just got all confused about her terminology –

Shane Jones was told his project feasibility study was a waste of money, but he unfortunately misread that and carried on regardless –

Jenny Marcroft didn’t attempt to bribe Mark Mitchell, Mitchell became confused and misunderstood what she said –

Cindy didn’t promise “no strikes on my watch” – that was just misreporting by TVNZ that should have been edited out –

Nobody put their hand down a kiddies pants, somebody was just brushing the ants off their tush – another unfortunate misunderstanding –

Twitford didn’t promise us 100,000 new homes – then have to re-define the term “year” – just an unfortunate miscalculation –

Shane Jones didn’t really promise 100,000,000 trees per year, this was an unfortunate misassessment, and in any case he couldn’t control the Autumn from hell –

Paul Eagle didn’t attempt to bribe his local panel beater into committing insurance fraud – the poor panel beater unfortunately suffers from mistaken belief syndrome –

This agglomeration of misunderstandings, false impressions, misreadings, miscalculations, mistaken beliefs, misinterpretations, fuck ups, errors and mix-ups is beginning to get somewhat tedious. The time has come for one or two heads to roll.

        National didn’t gift the seat. Rodney Hide won it off National in 2005 in a knock down fight.
        
        Parties don’t “gift” seats they already hold. Other parties have to win the seat off them. They might then come to an arrangement with that other party, just as Labour did with Jim Anderton.
        
        So in my view there is a zero chance that Labour will “gift” a seat they already hold to the Greens or anyone else.

Who is to say that some of the many confused and stupid Labour MPs won’t move across to Greens in the future once they realise there is insufficient scope to further their rabid ambitions within Labour? On a different tack: How is it that Ms Du Plessis Allen has become the spokesperson on everything in NZ? Are our local spokespeople so inept that they’ve allowed a recent arrival to be their poster-child? Yes of course! I suppose Heather draws widely from her husband, from bumper-stickers and the glorious equities of her mother country to meld together her dribbling pieces.

If we replace the Greens another Social Justice party will come along, like a grain of sand or a rain cloud, and replace them. The Māori King likes taxpayer money but hates white MOFO concepts like “accountability” and “governance”.

Maori King’s trust lends $83k for travel

A trust responsible for managing the office of the Māori King being investigated by the Charities Service lent $83,000 for travel expenses of a company associated with one of its staff, documents reveal.

The Herald on Sunday also found the Ururangi Trust, funded $1.6 million annually by Tainui, has purchased five new or near-new luxury four-wheel drives over the past two years while at the same time rapidly increasing its borrowing from banks and finance companies.

Ururangi employs nine people full-time, but the bulk of its $860,846 salary bill is split between King Tūheitia Paki and the Trust’s executive manager, Rangi Whakaruru.

So what do we have?

– $83,000 related-party loan (with unusually low interest rate) for travel expenses
– 5 new or near-new luxury four-wheel drives
– increased borrowing from banks and finance companies (it’s unclear what the borrowed money was spent on – the luxury cars?).
– 2 people (Māori King and Trust’s executive manager) account for most of $860,846 salary bill.

And in more bad news: Maori King’s office admits to funding stomach stapling, but not who it was for

The Office of the Māori King has admitted to paying for weight-loss surgery from iwi monies, but refuse to reveal who the operation was for.

A Charities Services investigation into alleged misappropriation at the office of the Māori King was concentrating on a mysterious $46,000 invoice for weight-loss surgery, the Herald reported on Sunday. Speaking on Maori TV’s Kawekōrero, Peter Rogers, chairman of the Ururangi Trust which funds Kiingi Tuheitia’s office, denied any wrongdoing.

Peter Rogers can deny any wrongdoing if he likes. But the fact that the Charities Services investigation is ongoing and “concentrating on a mysterious $46,000 invoice for weight-loss surgery” suggests that this story may have a bit more distance to run…

    I heard that Paki also runs a cash for appearances scheme. If you want him to turn up anywhere the koha better be substantial (and in cash, not kumera).

“Now it’s Trump-land. I get the misogyny, I get the ‘you’re young, too young’, then I get the ‘immigrants shouldn’t even be allowed into politics’.

First things first; I do not condone racist attacks or threats on social media. I’ve been on the receiving end of a couple of pile-ons, and it’s unpleasant to say the least.

However for Ghahraman to claim that Twitter was (or should be) a “nice, leftie, liberal political bubble” is ridiculous. Part of the reason why I am on Twitter is because it reflects all sorts of worldviews. It’s also an excellent source of breaking news stories.

Ghahraman’s comment indicates just how isolated she wants to be. She blocks anyone who disagrees with her worldview, but unfortunately when your party is ALREADY significantly a minority, you’re already isolated from mainstream public opinion.

Golriz Ghahraman actively seeks publicity. She still doesn’t understand that there are lots of people out there who have severe misgivings over her manipulation of the war crimes story last year. This latest rant to Newshub is designed for nothing more than to shore up her victim mentality. She clearly needs to get out more.

But when we went for an evening walk last week, and saw the new builds going up on the edge of an industrial zone, I asked what they were for. I got a call from a TVNZ polling group. They asked several questions. Who I voted for, who I gave my party vote to, how did I rate the PM’s performance, what age bracket was I in, how people lived in the household, how many income earners lived in the house hold and what our income was. I replied to the age question that it was none of their business and, also, told them our income was private and none of TVNZ’s business. I took the opportunity to tell this guy exactly what I thought of the PM. It felt good. The call was recorded. So they can go back through that and, hopefully, get the message that Ardern is a lying piece of work.

Has anyone else given up on watching the Commonwealth Games coverage on TV One which would be more accurately described as the ANZ Bank programme interspersed with Commonwealth Games breaks? This is doubtless the type of coverage that we will have to suffer now that TV One has the rights to Rugby World Cup with ad breaks all the way through the games.

For those cheering on the demise of Sky TV be careful what you wish for. For all their perceived faults nobody does sport quite like Sky.

    TVNZ only knows the lazy way of advertising – relentless, obnoxious, repetitive, intrusive, and not in the least bit interested in their viewer, just who is paying the bills.
    
    They sit back and wonder why their audience is smaller than they expected, and diminishing, then will follow up with a gab-fest to excuse their incompetence. And we will pay for that too.
    
    Then they will say oh well, our taxpayer owners will just have to make do with a smaller return this year. Let’s give all our narcissistic plonkers a big pay rise and get ready to fuck the viewers again next time .. the Rugby World Cup, can’t wait.

  I don’t watch much TV (maybe an hour every couple of days) and I never watch the ‘news’. Everything I watch is pre-recorded and I’m pretty selective.
  
  Last night though, we were at somebody’s house and they had the TV on showing some androgynes racing around on bicycles, interrupted randomly by weightlifting with no sense of continuity and the woman having orgasms in between kept telling us to go online (or to some other channel) if we wanted to see anything of substance.
  
  The most crazy thing about the evening was the incessant monotonous droning of the ads. Breakfast cereal, hifi blah blah – all seemingly voiced by the same person with the same cast standing there stupidly grinning at the camera. Guys in feminine pastel colours mincing around with moronic startled expressions on their faces about how great the product was.
  
  I admit I’m leading a sheltered life… but it works for me, and I won’t be watching live TV again on a hurry 😀

If you want to promote public transport, get the users of public transport to pay for it. Get the cyclists to pay for the bike lanes, the bus riders to pay for the bus lanes, and the train riders to pay for the tracks.

Penny had a meeting with them back in January, or possibly February, which she publicised in her usual way through an open letter on Kiwiblog. The court sale process was invoked after that meeting, so I’d say Penny was her characteristically rude usual self, and persuaded Auckland Council to move things along.

just returned from 4500km south island circumnavigation of the entire coast including the iconic warbirds over wanaka, i can honestly say that in all the overnite stays in mostly backpackers where all ages and types of people were staying i never found 1 kiwi that was happy with this COL government. but then again when we left auckland 2 1/2 weeks ago we were resigned to getting wet every day (mad motorcyclists) yet never had one drop of rain in the entire trip, so possibly all the labour supporters were down the welfare office and i missed them.

The attack occured on a street designed for no vehicles. A chief official stated publicly, during a media briefing, that he cannot rule out the possibility that they are dealing with an Islamic motivated attack.

The guilty look on the officials face said it all.

      Stephie, the point being made, and I fully understand that its implications may be hard for you to comprehend, so I will type slowly, is that ZB said that this was not a terrorise attack. That appears to me to be a clear and unequivocal statement of fact. It also seems that it is incorrect and the opposite may be a distinct possibility which means that ZB didn’t check the facts or made some up.
      
      Roger makes the point that the media have a tendency to make bold assertions such as this and ever so frequently get it wrong and that really makes him pissed. Roger, it seems, would like the MSM to take time to ascertain facts rather than pretend they do not exist.

        I suspect that the different sanctions were attributable to the fact that Flipper’s previously transgressions were listed under his name but in the incorrect alphabetical order and was oversight rather than deliberate. Manafort filed a civil lawsuit on Jan. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia against Mueller and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, the Justice Department official who appointed the special counsel, in a key legal test of how far Mueller’s mandate extends.

Jackson did not say when she might rule on the civil case, which the Justice Department is seeking to dismiss.
Mueller is investigating possible collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia as well as whether the president has unlawfully tried to obstruct the probe.

Mueller has charged 22 individuals and entities to date, including Manafort and his associate Rick Gates. Manafort’s civil case marks the first time a defendant has sought to challenge his authority.

Manafort, who performed lobbying work for a pro-Russian former Ukrainian president before serving as Trump’s campaign chairman in 2016, is facing two indictments brought by Mueller in federal courts in Washington and Alexandria, Virginia. The charges against him include conspiring to launder money, failing to register as a foreign agent, bank fraud and filing false tax returns…’

One-third of prisoners are gang members. Nearly all the recent increase in prison numbers are more gang members getting their comeuppance. Those wanting to reduce prison numbers are unlikely to campaign on the slogan “too many gang members are in prison”. Over twice as many gang members are in prison than in 2010. This welcome development is driving the increase in prison numbers.
