Two landlords signed up
Stuff reports:
Only two landlords have applied for a rental warrant of fitness inspection since the city council launched the scheme six weeks ago.
The voluntary scheme was developed by Otago University and the NZ Green Building Council. It was backed by Wellington City Council, which teamed up with the university for a one-year trial.
The warrant, which aims to raise the bar for minimum housing standards, contains 63 pass-or-fail questions over 29 criteria to assess whether a house is warm, dry and safe to live in.
I suspect many owner occupied homes would fail the test also!
