  This is the system we voted to keep (twice)! Either we were retarded as a nation to be voting to retain MMP or we wanted to keep on getting insane undemocratic outcomes.
  
  And why blame Winston? He is there courtesy of only 7.5% of the electorate. Surely the ones that fingers should be pointed at are Labour and Greens who are seeking to disenfranchise the biggest group of voters.

I’m sure that if I was on bail for these crimes my parents would not let me, have a phone and go out of the house.     So many of you unfeelingly ask why he was on bail, I would surmise that he was on bail because the courts could see what his race up the southern motorway, on the wrong side of the road, for what it was. His ‘crime’ was nothing more than a scream for help, it symbolised his lifelong battle against white privilege, white oppression and his ongoing fight against the tide.

    That is the only good thing to come out of that wider stuff up.
    I am, however, not convinced of over all (not this case, I suspect) by the many cowboys (and butch female coppers) driving Police cars, And their prosecutorial process (Look at the Chester Borrows stuff up and totally u8njustified prosecution, in your home town) should be scrapped and replaced by a Public Prosecutor service. Police should be confined to parking tickets and minor traffic offences – and without prejudice investigations.

      I saw nz traffic cop program on tv last night, talk about crap cops. Thick as a brick and dumb to go with it. There was a female cop in one case had pulled over young fella towing a trailer with wrecked car on it. The trailer had no wof, rego can’t remember, tow car was ok. She was going on about the tow car was too light to tow. Wrecked car was only bare body on tandem trailer. She had no knowledge about anything, no reason, no backup of rules and regs. Just her, thick as a brick. The police bosses had better have a look at every program, if this is the standards of our policemen. I saw part off another program once with more import police and they were idiots as well. No wonder the police are having trouble.

Philip Morgan and Ben Van derkolk have the choice of showing up next tuesday touting a litany of scientific lies or pulling out of the case. The system is an absolute disgrace, and is treating Mark Lundy like a laboratory rat. New Zealand is under international scrutiny, I hope our politicians and judges are fully cognisant, there will be no more chances to get out of this one with our judicial and scientific reputation intact.

Please anyone who knows people in a position to deal with this, advise them to take control. All facts will soon be on the table and the method by which the people of Palmerston North have been royally rogered by the police judiciary and media will be rigorously exposed.

        But in respect of the first trial, the PC said he had been “fitted” by the Crown and ordered, as requested by Bain’s Counsel, a full retrial.
        
        Absent the “fit-out”, the second jury said he didn’t.
        Beyond that, everything is speculation, with a
        leavening of fiction

You people are not getting the picture of what is going on. But it is worse in Lundy, far worse, if that is possible, because the jury were mislead by Philip Morgan in his mendacious summing up, so the Privy Council had wasted their time.
        
        And it is not remotely possible David Bain did this, left a house strewn with bodies, went on a paper round in the hope his loser of a father would not get up on time.     There is a desperate search by prosecutors for concrete proof Lundy was at the crime scene, but instead they have found
    1. Unknown male dna beneath the fingernails of Christine and Amber
    2. Unidentified cloth fibers beneath the fingernails of Christine and Amber.
    The likely scenario is an assailant in an unwashed garment being grabbed from in front by Christine and from behind by 8 year old Amber. First he slays Christine in bed, then he slays the fleeing Amber.
    3. A blood and gore shadow on the wall meaning the assailant was covered in blood and gore, Mark Lundy’s clothes shoes and car revealed zero trace of blood, and they sure tried to find it.
    4. A shoeprint never traced to those known to have been in the just cleaned house.
    5. 6 fingerprints by the broken catch in the conservatory. These fingerprints have never been traced to anyone known to have entered the just cleaned house.

    Likely scenario. Cooking splatter of preserved processed meat.

The privy council called it a miscarriage of justice, and the police rinsed and repeated. Rod Miller has run for cover and left the mess to other idiots to continue their artifice and lies.

  15year olds are genetically programmed to be more than a little lacking in impulse control. Good chance he would have become a productive member of society in 5-10yrs. And loss of a 15yr old has nearly highest cost to society – we have just pumped in nearly all the money we are going to spend on education, and they have not yet paid any tax.

    I seriously doubt that.
    He was involved in two serious crimes in less than a month one of those crimes carries a fourteen year sentence.

    I agree it is unfortunate that we did not get better value for money, but the upside is we will not have to pay for his incarceration and rehabilitation.
    
    I have a sneaking suspicion that had he survived we would have been subsidising housing of him and his children.
    
    I would be very suprised if the taxpayer has not been supporting his parent in some way so that their wee darling doesn’t end up a criminal, so no value for money there either.

      Everyone does stupid shit when they are young, some much worse than others. It is not necessarily a good move to write off a 15 year old, as most come right further down the track. Something like 2/3rds of all crime is committed by slow-learning under 30’s in the thrall of excessive testosterone. I’ve known a couple of reformed young offenders who a strong contributors now.
      
      That said some are write-offs from a young age (I know teachers who have had kids <10 that they are sure will eventually kill).

    The original poster was referencing multiple criminal behavior including of the same type that caused the demise of this kid, for which he could still have been in jail if not released on parole early… so many points at which the boy could have been stopped: parental, judicial, corrections etc

Agree with that, but I don’t think people are “wishing” for a death – they’re commenting on the inevitability and/or basic probability that this would have happened at some time based on this kid’s behavior which, despite what the Horrid would have you believe was *quite* extreme for a 15 year old. Signs were that there would have been further disruption (which, again IMHO; is prefereable to death… but given the proliferation of these young offenders in NZ, I don’t blame the populace for being tired of it.)

Found this piece really interesting. When I first bought a firearm I had to have a licence and have the registered papers handed to me by the Police before I picked up the weapon. Once they dropped that process they lost control and will never get it a back. According to this piece we have a world leading system. Not from my experience.

    Just completed a buy / sell transaction and I now have 9 firearms in my locked gun safe. In another locked safe I would have up to 1000 rounds of amunition mainly .22s. Some for a semi auto 22 with silencer.
    
    Life is good and I do not have any urges to visit concerts.
    
    You might question the number of firearms I own however I will point out that I also have a similar number of fishing rods and boxes of flys and lures.

  If you read anything from about 1968 forward you’ll find a lean to the left in journalism. When the 70’s came along the lean intensified and has continued ever since. Universities have always been left and have created the writers, producers and journo’s we have today. The only way to change that is at the top.
  
  Who owns most of the media outlets? The question then arises, what do these people gain by having a left leaning organisation? If the government is the main share holder generally they would be remiss to tinker with editorial comment. But what’s in it for Tony O’Reilly and Rupert Murdoch?
  
  My guess is that the media is such a small earner for these guys they don’t care. Sport and entertainment is their cash cow, news outlets are loss leaders.

To think this is an outfit funded by our taxes and they’ve devolved into Antifa-like behaviour, telling lies and accusing a journo of having wrongthink.

      Please understand that legal adoption is widely used in Japan, but not in the way they you (as a Westerner) would expect.
      
      I will give you an example. My father-in-law had 3 daughters but no sons. In order for the family name to continue, he adopted his son-in-law (who married his eldest daughter) to be his legal son. Problem solved.

  Fletch when you get down to it, they actually are right on the one hand and completely wrong on the other. ‘War is Murder’ was one of the signs, and it is right. It’s difficult to contemplate our children being placed in a uniform and sent off to fight in a war. I for one will do all that I can to stop that.
  
  But, and this is the key, we need to be more like Switzerland. Have a defence force which trains to defend the borders. Focus on the sea and managing our economic zone, reach out and help the Pacific Islands in times of trouble – the end. If our islands are to remain intact we need the ability to keep others out and hope that they cast their envious eyes elsewhere.
  
  There are systems available today which provide these solutions. We have the technology to develop our own systems which means we don’t rely on others for our protection. That is our Archilles heal.

However, the current system is wrong and I maintain that sending our children off to another war will be wrong. Our troops, in general, should never go into a conflict armed and managed the way they are (SAS excluded). Our Navy and Airforce is an embarrassment. We have to change!!

      Markets once once moved predictably. Most people are not aware that price and value are independent. The price moves with liquidity as does the boom and bust. When ‘investors” have had their fill the market is already heading down several months before most know of it. A buoyant over extension of credit wrecks havoc on those short of funds to pay for their purchases–their losses trigger others.
      
      We are in a giant asset bubble because of international bank credit creation. That’s fueled our prices here too. I am standing by for the awful inevitable.
      
      Value is independent and is largely a function of earnings, application, retention and the magnitude of the company. Investment grade shares were never overpriced but fully valued after a period while the new published results were considered. Sometimes a few months would elapse before the market suddenly revalued them to the computed value.
      The rational person is required for that to happen. Otherwise how did so many people arrive separately at the same value? The data was public and the last set of published accounts was the basis for the valuation. Measurable liquidity changed the day to day price.

  The right to protest is a fundamental right we should support. I disagree with much of the Green’s tripe and please don’t start me on Labour, but returned service men did not fight for the government, in general they fought for their mates first and then country second (the gov and arms industry was way down the list). We should give these people our support to protest but at the same time protest ourselves about their message (if it alienates you or you are opposed to it). The act of protesting is to be applauded and enshrined…or we’re fucked.

    Actually, New World admit that they didn’t actually ask the question about totally banning bags. Their question was about a 10c surcharge.
    
    When we launched the project the discussion was all about introducing a levy, so we wanted to ask our customers what they thought. The overwhelming majority has voted ‘yes – charge me for bags’, but we missed an important question – no bag at all.

But I think the takeover went the other way – Woolworths Australia was cleared by the Commerce Commission to take over Progressive Enterprises (owner of Countdown, etc). That in turn removed any incentive for Woolworths Australia to support and expand its Woolworths supermarket chain in New Zealand.
        
        New Zealand could (and should) have retained three separate grocery groupings – (1) Foodstuffs (New World, Pak’n Save, etc); (2) Progressive Enterprises (Countdown, etc – even if it had ended up under new international ownership by a third party); and (3) Woolworths Australia.

So apparently Winstons 3 key issues are an overvalued dollar, overseas investment, and affordable housing.

Well, laws can be changed to add RBNZ needing to control the exchange rates. Only problem is we don’t (and never will) have currency reserves to play that game, so the only way to really affect the rates will be a tightening on money supply which is bound to push up inflation.

Limiting overseas investment can also be done but will require renegotiating some of our FTA’s. Apparently Jacineralla is onto that and she’ll just tell them this is how it is. K? It is amusing that the example he gives is the sale of UDC from ANZ to China’s HNA Group. Obviously ANZ is now a NZ company and has been nationalised. Either that or the limiting of overseas investments is limiting Chinese investments. But that wouldn’t be right from our mate Winston. He’s not a racist.

And with housing, I look forward to the dramatic changes to the RMA that will need to be made. And all the immigrants we’ll need to build them.

      People discuss this possibility in the media and some of my colleagues have talked about that as well. There seems to be a common thread running through the ‘this is impossible’ conclusion. Ideology! Jacinda is too far left and there seem to be plots within plots and schemes within schemes coming from the Labour Party.     I can’t see grand coalitions working in NZ for at least another 20 years of MMP. We need enough time for parties voters to get used to the fact that a party has not sold you out because they have formed a coalition with someone you don’t like. More they are being pragmatic and this is a way to get some of their policy through without being side-lined for 3 years.
    
    The best party to be able to try and get their supporters across this at the moment are the Greens and we know how they feel about it.

      But the Greens are really two parties cloaked as one. How can you create a coalition with something which maybe schizophrenic? I’d rather see a willingness by all parties to layout a plan (pre-election) of what a voter can expect if a coalition is formed. Currently you have to think through the options and policies and try and guess what could happen. This method gave us Winston as the power broker.

    The RBNZ has the ability to control the money supply and hence the exchange rate through the reserve requirements that they set for the banks.
    
    And sorry, I had it the wrong way around. The RBNZ would need to loosen monetary supply. Of course a by product of this is lower interest rates, and more pressure on house prices.
    
    You will also likely see an increase in inflationary pressure.
    
    But of course this is all easy for ol’ Winston. The markets will do what he tells them to do.

The removal of references to race based clauses is necessary but otherwise the cries for change are from people who have no idea about the RMA unless they want to have an economic development act which is not what the RMA is about.

The Gov General can step in and dissolve parliament (ask Gough Whitlam) or as Muldoon did when Waring crossed the floor, the PM calls for an early election. Our dollar goes up and down over the years.
Its all about balancing our exports and imports.

I am all for NZ keeping ownership of our companies, but not by law or compulsion.
Somehow we need to start to buy back our companies via private shareholding.

If New Zealanders really cared about foreign ownership they would not bank with Aussie owned banks or shop at Countdown or Bunnings.

  Germany has successfully kept its currency lower than it would have been under a completely non-dirigiste government.
  
  First by manipulation, and then through the euro. If Germany still had the mark, it would be through the roof.
  
  Similarly, China keeps the renminbi under control. It also used its muscle to bring the Hong Kong dollar down when the speculators were playing with it.
  
  But I agree that NZ is much too small to openly beat the markets. It could manage the kiwi dollar down by reining in the hype from the political PRs and from the banksters about the NZ economy.
  
  By the wealth measure, GDP per capita, and by the balance of payments, which measures the position against the rest of the world, the NZ economy is torpid.
  
  In fact, the exchange rate is not balancing our imports and exports. If it were, NZ would not have run balance-of-payments deficits for the last 40 or so years.

    Many of my former colleagues believe there should be a separate traffic enforcement branch with decent marked vehicles.

One of the scenes involved a character hooking a chain onto the rear axle of a police car, driving past giving him the brown eye then watching as the well revved up black & white took off in pursuit leaving behind its rear end.
        
        Life mimics art & it took less than ten days before the B&W arseholes in Wellington got the same treatment. Mark4 Cortina in Cumberland Place, Wgtn, a strong bit of wire rope between the front McPherson strut & the nearest parking meter & it was all on for young & old.
        
        Result equaled a bent meter stanchion, a Cortina & its front suspension about 6 metres apart, a highly embarrassed traffic cop & a crowd of younger people bloody near pissing themselves on the spot.

I see the wowsers on stuff are already making funeral preparations for when the speed limit is raised to 110km/h on some roads. The fact is 110 is the defacto speed right now. Some of the better roads such as the waikato and parts of the SHI around Ramarama could cope with 120km/h. Many do that right now as well. Of course the wankers at stuff have a picture of the fuckwit’s car ( now deceased) who played chicken with a tree. That incident, a criminal fleeing from police, has FUCK all to do with the speed that it is safe to drive at. At 110 we would still be at the lower end of international driving speed limits, especially Europe.
