With the election around the corner, Liabore in complete disarray, Winston First lining up to be the first into the mine, what more can a KB’er ask for.   Actually Labour don’t look in complete disarray, as the Jackson situation indicates. Previously all sorts of crap would have followed but they look to be running a tighter ship. I want to hear more from the Nats, probably specifically John Key. The big gap he left is showing. He would have dined out on Jackson’s list status. I think behind the scenes McCarten is getting things they way he wants them and the party leadership is listening. McCarten understands the Nats authority over running a disciplined party is a big benefit.

    John Key is a smart enough to know not comment as anything he has to say that looks like providing advice or direction would undermine Bill English’s position and authority, both in the party and as the Prime Minister; look at the effect that Clark’s comments have had on the series of her successors, ‘mummy knows best’.

        I disagree regarding the void. Certainly Bill English is not as upfront or outgoing as John Key but I view him as being very capable and having an exceptionally reliable pair of hands. For all of JK’s outstanding talents I felt that his one weakness was a perceived lack of presence on occasion while being interviewed.
        
        English is his own man and I think we will see him in a very positive light as the campaign moves forward. I can’t wait for a ‘show me the money’ conversation with Andy at a leaders’ debate.

    McCarten might understand it but it’s plainly obvious he could not and has not implemented a similar regime. Either way McCarten has been put out to pasture based on his last performance so likely any semblance of order that may or may not be current in Labour is probably not attributable to him.

Speaking of fake news, I see CNN is in trouble with the Trump people. Seems CNN refused to run an ad lauding the orange one’s first 100 days because the ad described the mainstream media as ‘fake news’.

    Of course Trump’s campaign would seek to run the ad on CNN – because there was such a high chance that CNN would do just this! Which of course gave the perfect proof to point out CNN bias to feed the imolating hatred of Trump supporters for the MSM and CNN in particular.
    
    The MSM ARE the opposition. In the US and in NZ.

Was talking to some friends last evening and comment was made that Angry’s List was full of strong women and weak men.
Looks a bit it like it too.
One which stands out to a Taurangaite is one Jan Tinetti who has a high winnable place.
This is sad actually for her school where she is principal, if she gets in.
Whilst she is strong Teacher’s Unionist she is a very decent and competent teacher of a 95% Maori one decile school.
What really concerns me is that it would be very difficult to replace her.
Surely she is serving her country better carryin on her difficult work rather than becoming a Labour Union backbencher for many years to come.
Parliament is a great stiffler of any perceived talent particularly in the Labour Union party.
It would be a great waste.

    But looking a Jacinderella yesterday in Parliament is the epitome of a weak woman. She was hunched down as far as she could get when Angry was being answered and clobbered by Bill on the Pike River PR shock job.
    From an observation she would appear to be thinking that “why am I not enjoying this” – look at those people on the other side laughing and smiling, whilst “my team” are very silent, wriggling uncomfortably, and glum.

      Yup she’s got a lot of growing to do to become the next Labour PM (as she is being groomed for).
      
      At 35 or so she has never had a proper job and has never really been tested in any way.
      
      If she ever wants to get past being arm candy then she needs to learn to be a bit stronger and stand on her own two legs a bit. Being PM takes someone far more robust than she is. It’s a lot rougher than getting told to “zip it sweetie”.
      
      Can you imagine her facing the media when a soldier comes home in a body bag? Can you imagine her meeting with Teresa May or Trump on your behalf?
      
      Let’s face it. She’s a youngster just playing, like a little girl having tea with her dollies.

I don’t have a lot of trust in Willie Jackson but if you had to take sides Paddy Gower and Three News are the pits when it comes to telling the truth and having any credibility. The voter can blame who they like but it was Labour, Andrew Little and the selsection council that fucked up with the help of their whinging MP’s that were not prepared to complain and left Jackson to carry the blame.

  I suspect the new President is following good business rules. If dealing with people who you want to have accept your position you tolerate them and gently push the boundaries: one point of agreement will get more.
  Is it chess as well? The strike on Syria was after carefully preparing the strike zone for minimal damage but maximum political effect both at home and in China and North Korea. The people have tasted blood and they like it.
  The flag for a September shutdown has been briefly waved: back to the battle for government.

        It’s not smart to denigrate other heads of state. Peace ultimately requires co-existence not annihilation. There is no need to like the person but respect is essential. Leaders who meet can begin to understand each other and seek mutual benefit. North Korea has had hell of time over the last 100 years; it has little reason to trust the outside world. If it cannot reach out we need to. Ignore the rhetoric, look at the facts and history we cannot afford to get it wrong.

  Trump is fine, in fact he is more than fine, he is doing great! Looking forward to the tax plan rollout. I’m looking forward to the repeal of Obama care. I’m looking forward to stronger action on foreign policy. I’m looking forward to the US economy booming which will help all economies including our own.
  
  And I am continuing to look forward to the media commentators continuing to put down Trump and somehow he just gets stronger!
  
  One serious point – how far should media commentators go in denigrating the duly elected President of the United States? To me these guys are in bad taste and the funny thing is they are the ones that accused Trump of lowering public discourse. But I’ve heard media commentators over the last week say that Trump has got dementia, Trump is a pathological liar, Trump should be impeached.
  
  The lack of respect for the office of President of the United States is astounding. If mainstream media commentators have said things like that about Obama they would immediately been accused of being racist and completely shut down. But somehow open season on Republican presidents and Trump in particular is just fine by them. The stench of hypocrisy is overwhelming in my opinion.

Mr Jackson said when Mr Little initial approached him about joining the party he said he would try to get him in the top ten, but didn’t work out.

He did, however, get a new role: Māori Campaign Director.

Labour swears that decision was made weeks ago, though it is a little too convenient it was announced just hours after the list was released, and hot on the heels of a clearly robust discussion about Mr Jackson’s place on the list.

      Somebody once said that a nation is judged on the way it treats it’s women and it’s animals.
      Both are generally more vulnerable than males.
      One is a difference of gender…the other a difference of species.
      Most primitive cultures abuse both.
      More developed countries aim to treat women as equal to men, and treat individuals of other species with consideration.
      My point is male humans and female humans are just different genders of the same species..
      Homo sapiens.

        GV, I do love animals. I have had an array of pets over the years, and also bred meat for the freezer. All our animals have been treated like royalty, the cats, of course, expected nothing less! It is important to show animals kindness and keep them healthy. No, we have not taken to eating cat, we continue to stick to the usual fare of delicious beef, lamb and pork.
        
        I do not have an issue with keeping myself and my family healthy, and that includes consuming a variety of meat, vegetables and fruit. So far, it appears to be the right balance for us. ?

        The issue here is that OTHER animals do NOT have a choice when they have their baby calves/ piglets dragged off them or are forced to stand in line to be killed.
        We are intelligent, thinking (homo sapiens), supposedly morally superior primates.
        Why do we do this to other animals when it is not even necessary?
        Because we shut off our conscience and minds….otherwise we couldn’t.
        That said….I do believe it is possible to raise animals humanely for food.

Arthur asked Dr Ford if the similarities could be coincidence.

    You can’t take two completely different phrases and say they are “the same” simply because they both use palm muted, staccato, attacking, electric guitar.       He he he. Reminds me of the story of Phil Spector, who was producing ‘My Sweet Lord’ for George Harrison, and while doing so he realised “Hey, this reminds me of another song”. So he went out and bought the rights to ‘He’s so fine’ by The Chiffons…and then successfully sued Harrison for a breach of copyright through a song he (Spector) produced! Justice he ended up in prison via another route!
      
      But “Kashmir” a “classic”? Maybe I’ve been over-influenced by punk friends that have swayed me from my former complete-devotion-to-Led-Zep youth ( I went to high school in West Auckland so it was obligatory!),

        Was at the Classic last Saturday night for the Comedy Festival (it is now the Comedy Club). Mrs Kimbo wanted to sit near the front and get noticed and picked out as a topic of humour by a few of the stand-ups…while I tried to look as inconspicuous as possible!
        
        For much of the ’80s and ’90s the venue was (in)famous for screening stick flicks. Judging by a few of the comedians I heard last weekend, I think their material was chosen as an homage to the venue’s history! 😉

Unfortunately this government supported by gutless hand wringers seem to be pushing people to breaking point where by it would seem to me that a wholesale blood bath is going to be the only thing which wakes them up to the problem and focuses minds.
However the script is already written on this one, nobody should take the law into their own hands wah wah wah.
Fuck it, if the government don’t care, the police can’t protect you then what other option do you have but to start shooting back.
Time for some decisive action.

        Would it be realistic for jewellers to expect public protection if they chose to operate at sites now occupied by dairies that crooks target?
        
        Perhaps it would be more economic all round – for businesses, for the police, for the taxpayer – if some sort of automated, carbon-steel kiosks were developed to dispense cigarettes and coke to the hoi polloi.
        
        The small businesses are understandably upset. But why don’t they hire security. Let them have a licensed, armed guard from a responsible security firm (if this is possible under our laws).

    OK, I’ll put it out there for discussion: Shop keepers selling booze and/or cigarettes are not “to blame” if they are robbed. Just as a woman who dresses in a certain way is not responsible for the actions of a rapist.
    
    But even though it is lawful to go anywhere anytime in public, nonetheless, it is foolish IMHO for a woman to go to certain parts of town at certain times with insufficient protection due to the safety risks. That doesn’t excuse rapists, nor does it mean that the attempt to maintain public safety should ever be neglected by the police in the first instance, and then by all of us in general.
    
    Booze (sold in abundance by cheap-liquor outlets in the bad part of town) and cigarettes are desired yet also anti-social. Better for the shop-keepers en masse to exit the business of selling those products for their own safety…and also perform a social good.

And they don’t sell lotto or scratch tickets which means they serve customers very quickly.         Dairies and bottle stores are often fairly isolated and quiet with periods of no customer activity, plus they have one or two staff. Almost the perfect storm for easy pickings by aggressive teenagers with an eye to satisfying their need for easy money, fags or beer.
        Society has degenerated into a quagmire of bad behaviour by many.

    Unfortunately nicotine is highly addictive. Pushing up cig prices has required crime to satisfy that. There are limits to pricing in the name of doing good. Cigs are a large part of some beneficiarys’ budgets and causing increasing hardship as they cannot be dropped. Vaping is no answer except to potential profiteers and gangs as another source of addictive goods to market. Be extra wary for the push for ‘medicinal’ cannabis too.

  I am pretty sure she would have won but for Comey’s intervention. Prior to that she was about 6 % ahead. After that she was about 3% ahead, which was not enough.
  
  I was always of the view she needed to be about 4% ahead to win, given that so much of her vote was concentrated in California and New York.
  
  I personally thought Comey’s intervention was appalling, as it was clear it would have a huge impact on the election outcome. Clearing her 3 days out was never enough time for her to recover. The smear had stuck.
  
  Incidentally I think the events of the last 100 days clearly demonstrate why she would have been the better choice. Yes, she was the establishment candidate, but often the establishment is better and safer than the “revolutionary” option. That is why we have the establishment, to thwart the revolution!

    Actually, Comey was probably trying to square up the odds due to his perceived letting Hillary off the hook. When he first made his announcement about Hillary’s emails he went through all the things she’d done wrong, etc, and it sounded like a lead up to say that she was guilty (in fact, she was). Instead he surprisingly let her off the hook with some lame excuse about how she’d done wrong but it wasn’t her fault because she wasn’t aware (yeh, right!).

The multiculturists strike back in Southland, calling for the southerners to welcome refugees being directed their way by Wellington bureaucrats.

Yesterday, Invercargill Mayor Tim Shadbolt expressed concern about lack of consultation and about the effect on the local jobs market. (Careful National, in case Mayor Tim is tempted to stand for NZ First in Invercargill.)

Today, support for the refugees came from the regional multicultural council, one of the groups fostered by the Race Relations Commission (evidence it has moved from settling race discrimination cases to activism in favour of multiculturism).

Also backing the settlement of refugees is Kevin Clements, who runs Otago University’s “peace and conflict studies” unit. Yes you can get a degree in peace studies.

Clements is a sociologist, like NZ’s Mr Multiculturism, Massey University’s Prof. Spooner.

Sociologists seem to be “go to” people for the media. Apart from Clements and Spooner, we have in the paper sometimes twice a week, Greg Newbold. Greg’s very authoritative on prisons and crime, but now pops up as a commentator on topics including police marksmanship and fatal love triangles.

Two and three year olds having $5K operations to remove rotten teeth as parents were giving them soft drinks routinely. One mother admitted giving Coke in a baby bottle to her 2 year old (must have been since 1 year old as this child front teeth hadn’t completely rotted and didn’t exist)

Shouldn’t given Coke (apart from sugar also fulll of caffeine and chemicals) to 1 and 2 year olds be considered child abuse?

Twenty-six witnesses, including 13 families whose children had been mistreated, would present evidence in the case.

Witness and SEN co-leader Tanya Jacob said her son’s mistreatment at a Christchurch school “started emerging with kids saying ‘you’re going to hell’.” Jacob said she initially had a “cruisy attitude” towards bible lessons in schools and simply withdrew her children. She later learned they were being placed back in the class, sent to the new entrants’ room, or made to wash dishes instead.

“They [other children] wouldn’t share with him because he doesn’t believe in God, it’s really toxic,” she said.

You are not a fit parent and this will cause serious and irreversible damage to the girls nervous system and brain if she continues not to eat properly.

The only biologically available B-12 to humans is through animal sources. Clearly we must have evolved eating meat. The effects of lack of B-12 are devastating. You can read about that on the net and the horrific stories from recovering vegans about how ill they became. Sadly the effects on the brain and nervous system can be permanent.

  In any case, she shortly after went vegequarian (includes fish).
  Fish are the only animals good for our health, and they mostly live long, free lives and do not form bonds with their offspring.

  As much as I don’t like Trump now after he proved he is just another Globalist, he is right MM. Here is Abraham Lincoln noting that the Civil War had nothing to with Slavery which is the polar opposite from what Hollywood would have you believe.
