        I spent 1 month in Peninsular Malaysia travelling (alone) a few years back.
        I wish I had been able to afford to travel when I was younger… I would have loved to see some of Malaysia’s rainforests .. before they all became rubber plantations and then palm plantations.

  I guess the answer to the question from stephieboy depends on whether you are scared of Muslims, or whether you buy-in to the feeble snowflake thinking that you are a phobic if you disagree or oppose anything.
  
  It’s rational to have a mistrust of Muslims when you see what is happening around the world, and it is reasonable to disagree and oppose their teachings. These things don’t make you a hater.
  
  Based on your various comments, I suspect you are probably among the least hate-filled people on this site.

The Swedish Establishment is spinning madly to protest the Trump comments but there are Swedes who say Trump is right.

Sweden Democrat bosses Jimmie Åkesson and Mattias Karlsson wrote in an opinion piece published in the Wall Street Journal on Thursday that “Mr Trump did not exaggerate Sweden’s current problems” when he falsely suggested that immigration had sparked a rising crime wave in the country.

“If anything, he understated them. Sweden took in about 275,000 asylum-seekers from 2014-16 – more per capita than any other European country,” they wrote, adding that “riots and social unrest have become a part of everyday life” and vowing to “make Sweden safe again”.

  The Behavioural Science Unit of the FBI did a crime study back in the 1980’s.
  
  They were looking at a relationship between pornography and crime – linking crime rates to policy on and availability of pornography. They did not find any. Nations with liberal policy – Scandinavia and Japan also had low crime rates.
  
  What they found instead was that their crime rates were low because they were egalitarian and mono-cultural. And other nations that were neither egalitarian or mono-cultural had higher crime rates – with higher crime rates amongst ethnic minorities that suffered deprivation.
  
  Thus explaining US history where migrants who entered the underclass on arrival – slaves, then Italians/Irish would have higher crime rates, at least at first (this changes if migrants have a skilled migrant work capability on arrival test).
  
  In effect this was a forecast that low skilled migrants would form an new ethnic underclass and increase crime rates. This would continue if they did not assimilate/integrate easily (which is what Irish and Italians did).

How can young people except what a out of touch Mayor from New Plymouth the shit that has been preached by this individual and why did he not have the balls to say it before he was elected to office. This is another reason that this former safe seat of Labour turned blue.

Dame Devoid seems to be back tracking somewhat on her calls for free speech to be limited, according to Whale Oil today, but is she really?

Whale reports Devoid as saying “we” (presumably Race Relations Kommand,) are not “advocating any new laws.”

But she is still working with the plods for them to record (and thus identify and therefore judge) alleged “hate speech” when complaints are made. You can assume Devoid wants people accused of “hate speech” where possible charged under present offensive language measures.

  There seems to be a desire to destroy the country they respectively (but not respectfully) live in.
  I call that Hate towards their country and therefore any words used in this form is Hate speech.
  First to be charged should be Devoid.
  
  I can understand Merkel a bit – she grew up in East Germany so probably has massive resentment towards the old West Germany which was much larger (about 3X pop I recall) and had first world standard of living while East Germany was a complete shithole. I does not make the Hate correct but shows cause!!
  In addition Merkel had her phone monitored by the yanks so we don’t know by how much she is now Dope on a Rope.
  
  What is Devoid’s excuse for this Hate towards NZ and people having a beer and giggle?
  Blowing a bit of smoke is a healthy outlet.

If you take the Commerce Commission’s ruling to its full extent Sky on its own is in a monopoly position and should make Sky sport available to everyone for free. Anything less than that would go against the Philosophy of its ruling, that one company can not produce a product that other companies cannot sell. Sport today is big business and is sold to the highest bidder. This claim that its”every New Zealander right to watch the AB’s” has long gone out the window.
By the way TVNZ via Duke has exclusive rights to the Bundesliga, why has the commision not rules on them.

  I think the problem with Sky is that you are obliged to buy innumerable other channels just so you can watch cricket, for example.
  I heard a bloke on the radio mention that a one off online subscription was available for ice hockey for every game. A similar sort of think should be available for rugby here, but Sky have the monopoly for the NZ content from the paddock to the sofa.

    TV One can bid for the rights to broadcast international and Super XV rugby but that’s just the beginning. They then have to provide NZ commentators for all matches and hardware/production staff for all local games. ‘Free to air’ rugby ? Sure, no problem but wait for a universal compulsory TV license ($400 annually as in the UK?) and ad breaks throughout the games.
    
    For all their faults Sky do an excellent job with sport and it is strictly ‘user pays’. Will Sky get left behind technologically? No way – this is a massive multinational with a lot of skin in the game. Watch this space.
    
    Is Sky too expensive? I don’t think so – $30 per week for all the docos, news, entertainment and sport that our family need and can watch on a big screen with good sound is damned good value. Netflix and Lightbox cost us another $4 a week. We can’t be bothered trying to access international fixtures on line and on the cheap – I want to turn on the TV and watch good quality TV and be able to record it for later viewing if required.

  I saw that article on Bloomberg this morning. Here’s the somewhat simplified version …
  
  If US interest rates rise then the local banks will have to meet that by paying higher interest on the money they borrow from their wholesale funders (big pension funds etc).
  
  That pushes up the bank’s costs of funding. So to cover that higher cost of funding they will need to raise mortgage interest rates … so they have extra revenue coming in to pay their higher outgoings.
  
  Very roughly, they use wholesale funding for about 1/3rd of their loan books. So very roughly, if the price of wholesale funding rose by say 0.75% (75 basis points) in a year then you might expect mortgage rates here to rise by about 0.25% (25 basis points) faster than term deposit rates might rise.
  
  Basically, it would see the apparent margin between term deposits and mortgages rise. Although that extra margin would primarily be going to the wholesale funders rather than retained by the banks.
  
  That’s likely over-simplified … you’re really looking at yield curves in the US, Australia & NZ, it’d likely see higher term deposit rates here too to shift more funding to local currency, etc etc. Lots of moving parts. But that is the simple version.

  Far better to encourage people to get a licence than to issue a ticket and collect a fine. Diversion is often available for careless driving (not involving injury or death to others) the penance being to take a defensive driving course, so why not similar driving without a licence.

    But law enforcement (whether policy or practice) based on a person’s racial profile would be repugnant to most New Zealanders.

The reports show that the fall in the Real Estate Institute of NZ’s lower quartile selling prices, which became evident in many parts of the country in December, intensified and spread to most parts of the country in January, with the falls in some places being significant.

The REINZ’s lower quartile price (the price point that 25% of sales would be below and 75% would be above) declined in nine regions (Northland, Auckland, Waikato/Bay of Plenty, Taranaki, Wellington, Canterbury, Central Otago/Lakes, Otago and Southland in January compared to December, and continued to rise in only three, Hawke’s Bay, Manawatu/Whanganui and Nelson/Marlborough.

      G152, NZ’s irrationally high currency means fewer jobs in the export-dependent regions where there are cheaper houses. If the kiwi dollar were to fall and export industries were to surge, jobs would become available.
      
      For example, Dunedin’s a great place to live, but there aren’t a helluva lot of jobs there, and the wages on average would be lower than in booming Auckland.

    It was just as valid 10 or 12 years ago to sell off TVNZ possibly more so as it had value.
    Today, much less so.
    
    To have done a it a few years ago would have been better. TVNZ spent $60m on their HQ upgrade last year with a 100% blow out on the $30 budget but the richard cranium from there said ‘oh it was not taxpayers money’.
    Well it sure was not HIS money.
    
    Why did TVNZ not take the chance to move out of town a bit.

I suggest if you’re interested, one early conclusion I came to decades ago is that a) this is not unique and b) it always comes from using the slice the elephant technique (aka boil the frog).

So different to Obama’s regressive message of hate, that saw blacks rioting in the streets as they fell further behind in social outcomes and earnings. Lots of Trump blaming over the trans kids and their right to use the bathroom they identify with. I didn’t know Obama had threatened to pull federal funding from schools that didn’t comply with this fucked up piece of social engineering.

My solution – Every straight person that disagrees with it, keep a wig from the opposite sex handy and every time you want to go to the bathroom (American terminology I know), don the wig and use the opposite bathroom to your actual sex. 150 million women in America will soon make sure that you can only use your genetically identified gender toilets.

    What most people don’t know is the surgically altered area requires constant stretching with a speculum, and regular pus drainage, plus lubrication for sexual activity.
    
    Given the choice, a pre-op chick with a dick seems preferable.

The bank says there’s a 20% chance that Le Pen wins on May 7 and is not its base case scenario. However, the prediction is not too far away from similar predictions it gave President Donald Trump ahead of the U.S. elections. Citi did give Trump a 30% chance of winning before last November, but these figures fluctuated as the race tightened.
