But make no mistake: Americans only think they’re choosing the next president.

In truth, however, they’re engaging in the illusion of participation culminating in the reassurance ritual of voting. It’s just another Blue Pill, a manufactured reality conjured up by the matrix in order to keep the populace compliant and convinced that their vote counts and that they still have some influence over the political process.

Stop drinking the Kool-Aid, America.

The nation is drowning in debt, crippled by a slowing economy, overrun by militarized police, swarming with surveillance, besieged by endless wars and a military industrial complex intent on starting new ones, and riddled with corrupt politicians at every level of government. All the while, we’re arguing over which corporate puppet will be given the honor of stealing our money, invading our privacy, abusing our trust, undermining our freedoms, and shackling us with debt and misery for years to come.

The sad thing is NZ is exactly the same. Helen Clark got replaced by John Key and………..nothing changed………….except the media “image” and rhetoric……..

Hiding behind the latest Auckland Unitary Plan, is a more sinister plan as proposed by the joined at the hip Green/Liebour Parties. The sinister plan to introduce reverse discrimination against home owners in NZ . Starting with Auckland, to sabotage property values by up to 50%,and eventually encompassing the whole of NZ. Leading the charge is Friar Tucks reincarnation, better known as Materialistic Turei or ME –TU. The idea is to devalue the houses from the do somethings, in favour of the do nothings. Angry Andy Little the other half of the sinister joined at the hip Green/Liebour Party, is playing good cop against ME-TU bad cop. Little is trying to say not us from Liebour Party,except he has forgotten the adage, “Show me your company and i will tell you who or what you are”.

Don’t understand the reason for your objection. If Maori is an official language of New Zealand – and I believe it has been for at least 2 decades – then it seems thoroughly appropriate it is on our official currency.

The failing Newspaper has come out to say its Amy Adams fault that she used the rules setup by Labour to reject advice that Teina Pora’s compensation package be adjusted for inflation. Of Course no mention of this in the paper. Green Party Co-Leader Metiria Turei “said it wasn’t a huge amount of money in the context of government Budgets”.
The Greens love to spend other peoples money and so long as its the “Rich Pricks” who are taxed to pay for it the policy does not have to be scrutinised.

So Metiria Turei wants to crash house prices in Auckland by up to 50% (which will crash prices nationally), to make Auckland affordable again. Has she taken a moment to think how many thousands of families will have the equity in their homes wiped out by such a foolish policy?

And this is the woman and party Andrew Little and Labour have hitched their wagon to, in a political sense. Can anyone recommend a good divorce lawyer for Stuart Little?

“Marion Maréchal Le Pen, the 26-year-old niece of France’s Front National leader Marine Le Pen has urged her fellow countrymen to join the military in a series of tweets following the beheading of a priest in Normandy this morning.

I was listening to a man tell me what wonderful immigrants the Filipino people are for our country.
They get in and work.
The percentage of them known to the police is very small.
The percentage of them known to welfare agencies is very small.

@ Igotta Numbum – in one way it’s good that Turei had her brain fart yesterday. The late Sir Robert Muldoon always used to maintain that people voted with their wallets. Turei’s policy announcement yesterday will be devastating for the Greens, and as Peterwn notes above, all those luvvies who voted Green because of the planet will be scared off voting Green again in case the equity in their home vanishes.

The next round of polls will be interesting, but this is one Green Party policy that we all need to spread the message on so that the public at large can see that the Greens really are the Watermelon Party; green on the outside, but blood-red socialists beneath the green veneer.

@ Tauhei – there is a significant and growing Filipino community here in Whanganui. All the ones I have met are lovely people who work hard, and are determined to succeed in their new home. They really are model immigrants. A couple of years ago their float won the overall prize in the local Christmas Parade, and they are more than happy to share their culture whilst embracing ours.

I’m as uninterested in the Maori language as the next person, but printing a few words in one of NZ’s official languages on banknotes neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.

What is very much more concerning is the government’s willingness to negotiate deals with iwi without contesting the dubious historical claims underpinning them, to impose anti-democratic co-governorship models on agencies responsible for common resources, and various local bodies’ willingness to quietly go along with racially selective government and impositions. Only after a lot of work by several ginger groups was the Auckland Council forced to abandon its taniwha tax, imposed without public consultation, on homeowners and developers.

Compare young white males with young Muslim males. I suspect that young Muslim males never have their beliefs challenged.

If you are a young male and your beliefs are never challenged, then do you grow up to become a better person in terms of coping with people whose world views are different to your own?

Umm, ok. Thanks. Ultimately while governments do consult on many “major” proposals to update national symbols – decimal currency in 1967, and even to the extent of the binding referendum on the flag earlier this year – you will never get 100% agreement. Some are opposed to change because it is…change. Others want change (e.eg., ditching QEII, the Union Jack) because it is…change. Therefore, as also with the issue of stamps, and the minting of coins, someone, somewhere has to make a decision. I seem to remember QEII’s portrait on our currency (both coins and notes) has changed at least twice in my lifetime (maybe three), and I don’t remember wide consultation on the matter. yet it makes sense as she does not look like as she first did when she began “Long to reign over us” back in 1952.

Personally I like the inclusion of the Maori language on our back notes. Currency is an opportunity to showcase unique aspects of a nation, to reflect back to itself and to the world what it is. Maori language is unique to New Zealand, and has been used (rightly, IMHO) in a bilingual manner officially to describe our government departments (IRD, WINZ, etc) for some time. Therefore, IMHO, it should be on our bank notes when the Reserve Bank is mentioned.

But that is just me…

Rotorua has only ever been called Rotorua.

I was born and raised in Rotorua, I am 0.00% Maori and I am not in any way threatened by “my” town having a Maori name.

In fact every time I go back there after years away, the Maori cultural thing about identifying in a very visceral way with “your” ancestral mountain, river, lake etc makes more and more sense to me.

The Waitangi gravy train doesn’t mean you have to hate everything Maori in order to be one of the right people, take it easy. 😐

Now that the print and radio media have decided not to go to the Olypmics watch them poo on the Games. Started this morning on Moaning Report with dear old Ian Culpan wailing about what a waste of money sport is. This is the man who wrote the Physiucal Education Syllabus for schools and refused to put the word ‘sport’ in it even once. I predict he will be given air by the media.

Yeah, true. Bit Maori, just like any language is not stuck in a time warp and it borrows/appropriates and updates in response to the dynamic environment in which it occurs.

if not, then it is time we stopped using the (originally Hindi word) “bungalow”. Just one of thousands of words that English speakers, the ultimate linguistic magpies, have “stolen” to describe things or even concepts (e.g., “karma”) that at some time “did not exist” in their language or thinking.

Increasingly many Maori/Polynesian words have infiltrated English. “Taboo” (tapu) and tattoo” (tatou) seem to have been picked up by European sailors about 200 ago, and words like “mana”, “iwi”, and “whanau” (just to name three) have popular currency. So why can’t Maori do the same with English?!

That ‘I’m with you’ was clever in highlighting the difference in attitude.

I would prefer a language that borrows from others. To borrow the word is also to borrow the concept behind the word.

Japanese had no traditional word that exactly matched the nuance of “sexual harassment” until it borrowed the term from English and coined the word “sekuhara”.

Synthesizing your own terminology is one good way to impose a barrier to the ideas and concepts of foreign cultures.

Yep. is the reason behind the “etymological fallacy” that cult groups like, say the Jehovah’s Witnesses or World Wide Church of God use when appealing to obscure Hebrew and Greek to fools who have no idea whether what they are saying is true…but it sure sounds impressive! Just because a word meant something once…doesn’t mean that meaning it is locked in for all time, especially when it is picked up by other languages.

But a good New Zealand example is the objection to using the word “pakeha” as it “means white pig”. Not only is that claim almost certainly unsupported, but even if it was, so what? Doesn’t mean that now…

English is the language of the world and if a trip to the local shops is any indication then many people in NZ and a lot of these are Maori fail to even speak this properly.
Sometimes I think I am in the hood with illiterate black Americans because some of the main words you commonly hear like hoe ,T.H.O.T, etc coupled with other grammatical failures definitely make you realise we need to be putting more emphasis on people being able to speak English properly instead of worrying about fluffy feel good stuff like Maori.

It does seem a strange conicidence (to me anyway) that for the last x years/decades that Maori has been an official NZ language, that there have been no attempts to include the aotearoa name on notes, and that now we have the elitist and NWO agendas to somehow become ‘inclusive’ to allcomers, the Maori name is suddenly being included ?

@ SGA – I’m probably one of the few here who can claim a School Certificate pass in Latin, even if it was only 50%. 45 years on, I’m not quite sure why I bothered, but c’est la vie (I passed School C French as well!) 😀

Well, that’s two of us, but it was my lowest mark by far. I think it probably did me more good than harm – the process of having to learn other languages (albeit without great distinction – I’ve no gifts that way) required a discipline and a certain learning approach that probably helped later on.

So Metiria Turei wants to crash house prices in Auckland by up to 50% (which will crash prices nationally), to make Auckland affordable again. Has she taken a moment to think how many thousands of families will have the equity in their homes wiped out by such a foolish policy?

Speaking as an Auckland home-owner who is more likely to want to stay here but get a larger property, than cash up and move out to a place with no jobs, I have no objection at all to someone letting some air out of the Auckland bubble before something makes it actually go pop…50% might be a bit much, but 30 would be fine.

Picking his way through the Soviet archives that Boris Yeltsin had just thrown open, in 1991 Tim Sebastian, a reporter for the London Times, came across an arresting memorandum. Composed in 1983 by Victor Chebrikov, the top man at the KGB, the memorandum was addressed to Yuri Andropov, the top man in the entire USSR. The subject: Sen. Edward Kennedy.

“On 9-10 May of this year,” the May 14 memorandum explained, “Sen. Edward Kennedy’s close friend and trusted confidant [John] Tunney was in Moscow.” (Tunney was Kennedy’s law school roommate and a former Democratic senator from California.) “The senator charged Tunney to convey the following message, through confidential contacts, to the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Y. Andropov.”

Kennedy’s message was simple. He proposed an unabashed quid pro quo. Kennedy would lend Andropov a hand in dealing with President Reagan. In return, the Soviet leader would lend the Democratic Party a hand in challenging Reagan in the 1984 presidential election. “The only real potential threats to Reagan are problems of war and peace and Soviet-American relations,” the memorandum stated. “These issues, according to the senator, will without a doubt become the most important of the election campaign.”

Kennedy made Andropov a couple of specific offers.

First he offered to visit Moscow. “The main purpose of the meeting, according to the senator, would be to arm Soviet officials with explanations regarding problems of nuclear disarmament so they may be better prepared and more convincing during appearances in the USA.” Kennedy would help the Soviets deal with Reagan by telling them how to brush up their propaganda.

Then he offered to make it possible for Andropov to sit down for a few interviews on American television. “A direct appeal … to the American people will, without a doubt, attract a great deal of attention and interest in the country. … If the proposal is recognized as worthy, then Kennedy and his friends will bring about suitable steps to have representatives of the largest television companies in the USA contact Y.V. Andropov for an invitation to Moscow for the interviews. … The senator underlined the importance that this initiative should be seen as coming from the American side.”

Kennedy would make certain the networks gave Andropov air time–and that they rigged the arrangement to look like honest journalism.

One set of standards for the Left. Another set for their opponents.
