NOAM CHOMSKY: Sure. In fact, my favorite prophet, then and still, is Amos. I particularly admired his comments that he’s not an intellectual. I forget the Hebrew, but lo navi ela anochi lo ben navi — I’m not a prophet, I’m not the son of a prophet, I’m a simple shepherd. So he translated “prophet” correctly. He’s saying, “I’m not an intellectual.” He was a simple farmer and he wanted just to tell the truth. I admire that.

Hmm, sort of, but there is a problem in Chomsky’s analysis that his strain of intellectuals = prophets. In context, Amos is objecting he’s not part of the professional class of “prophets” who operated out of the shrine in Bethel. They rely on royal patronage and as a result, give a compromised message instead of acting as the “covenant-enforcers” of the faithful worship practices and wider social justice that are meant to be essential parts of Mosaic law and devotion to Yahweh, the God of Israel. Instead, Amos is an uncorrupted outsider, a simple shepherd and dresser of sycamore trees (probably even a foreigner from Judah, not Israel), calling it as it is. So far so good for Chomsky.

But hasn’t the radical-left-wing intellectual perspective that just looooooves the Book of Amos and its social-justice component (as they should, although arguably there is a lot more to Amos than that) become an entrenched and intellectually-privileged class with secure tenure in most Western universities and big media? Indeed, this “chatterati” are now, effectively their own “priestly class” informing the great unwashed what they should think, say and do.

Just look what happens when someone like, say, Mike Hosking (just to pluck a random name out) upsets the apple cart with an unwelcome message for the “worshippers” in seek of comfortable affirmation of their existing prejudices and lifestyle? Heresy!! Ban him! Pretty much like Amaziah the priest of Bethel told Amos (7:12-13)

Yes. And of course such a class would be the death-knell of any little “libertarian-socialist” community that got going. Can you imagine sharing your house and workspace with this guy every fucking day? Christ! And of course such people would attract exactly the same kind of weak-minded fools that latch on to any great man, reinforcing the whole elite class bullshit that was supposed to be eliminated, only in this case the class divisions would be around who’s smart and who’s not.

I think he knows this, which is why he’s constantly pounded the “I am not an intellectual, merely a thinking member of the working class from humble origins” drum, since he first rose to political prominence in the late 60’s. There are those intellectuals over there who are enslaved to the powers that control our society – except me of course. I stand outside the system.

He’d probably argue that to his dying day in the commune, even as his followers burnt dissenters at the stake.

Rather reminds me of this from The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy:

True, and even though tom hunter can speak for himself, nonetheless no one was questioning Chomsky’s credentials or expertise in linguistics. Indeed, even Thomas Sowell affirms them! 😉

I don’t believe in this so called shortage. It is more a case of employers wanting cheap labour. Employers will pay high salaries to doctors , lawyers, engineers but when it comes to IT they do not wish to do so.

The government needs to call BS on businesses looking for cheap overseas imported labour under the pretext of a shortage.

This is exactly why schools should not put more emphasis on IT training — when business will simply look to the philippines and india for wage slaves over local talent.

This is an excellent article on Trump, written by the guy who ghost-wrote The Art of the Deal. He camped out with Trump for six months + and got to know him better than anyone apart from his family.

Some of the stuff is quite scary, if true. He’s a lefty, but he’s also quite intelligent and makes some interesting observations. Even if he is politicing, it’s worth noting and filing away and watching with antennae quivering to see if any of it pans out over the election and beyond, because if the dude genuinely has got some of the qualities he discusses then he’s unfit to be POTUS because he has the potential to be fucking dangerous with the codes.

But then everyones knows that Killary definitely will be dangerous with the codes, so we’re quite, quite screwed indeed, aren’t we.

The reports that the Erdogan regime was aware of the coup attempt and due to its weakness allowed it to go through so it could be used as a total elimination of his remaining opposition inside the government may never be validated for sure.

But the swiftness of the purge in the judiciary had the strong smell of a prepared enemies list to it.

That this all took place in the middle of a Turkish foreign policy shift makes it even more bizarre, including claims that the US supported the coupmeisters, something that never would have happened with evidently so little support within the military itself.

A few thousand soldiers are never going to overthrow a half million man army, which does not even include the reserves.

No charismatic leader ever emerged as a rallying figure head, so there was effectively no real leadership in the coup for even a Hail Mary attempt at success. Who would have supported an anonymous group? All the coupmeisters did as to hand their heads and the remaining oppositions heads over to Erdogan on a silver platter. You just can’t make this stuff up…

The answer: Softbank is not what they appear. What isn’t as well known is that Softbank is actually a major player in China’s internet economy…

…perhaps Softbank was tapped to be the buyer, but not the ultimate buyer. After all, who is lending them to $31B to close the deal? And Softbank will earn a lot of political credits for doing a favor for the

Chinese government effort to ramp-up a semiconductor company.

Don’t be surprised if we see an announcement in a year or two that ARMH is up for sale and the buyer is a major Chinese company.

This was a brilliant move.

The only politician I’ve 100% truly supported would be Ron Paul. Sure you’ll find some good eggs amongst the world’s local MPs but most of these are too lowly to make a difference while the majority of the rest are heavily compromised. I also thought Farage was a decent and principled man who was incredibly resilient for the abuse and vilification he had to put up with.

I certainly don’t pick “sides” or a “team” and cheer them on regardless if how much dirt they kick in our face. I learnt that after backing Key and watching him back pedal on everything he said he was and turn out to be another identikit Globalist.

I’ve long given up on hoping for a “saviour” from our current globalist predicament as I believe even those who position themselves as a Saviour, could well be a wolf in sheep’s clothing – i.e. Trump, Putin.

It’s a worry.

Putin OTOH I can’t [presently] find the same issues with. He started off as a young KGB operative in the same mind-control programs as Tomlinson was in but since then over the decades he’s morphed into something else.

You’re right to trust none of them, not China, Russia, US, UK, Israel and any of the lessor movers and shakers either.

The only thing that’s evident is: 2016 is a year of massive upheaval and change across politics and economics and possibly military and we’re only in July. Therefore, I don’t envy your role at all EAD, being charged with responsibility in turbulent times must be both interesting and dangerous and I wish you well as you guide the flock through the rest of this.

Don as pointed out above, Trump got billions of free publicity from this, global, national, state coverage, in detail, for free.
