Wow.

Just got back from watching ‘The Voice”.

I’m really most unaccustomed to being the focus of attention, so I have some confessions to make.

Yes, I do drive a Subaru – it’s a 2007 Legacy Sports Wagon, 3.0 ltr H6 six cylinder with all the fruit – IS drive, Bilstein shocks – this baby has 300 HP and goes like stink. I did challenge Aww-C to a race, but we agreed over a couple of jars at Imbibe that there really was not a suitable handy location to do the drag thing.

I must confess that I did enlarge on this comment by nasska, and direct it at Grifff, as nasska did. But having seen some of the comments that Griff says at Christians in general and me in particular, I did it as par for the course. I get offended by some of the things that Griff says and sometimes react accordingly.
I will say now that I do not think that Griff is a goat shagger – the comment was made in a light=hearted manner in the context of the conversation. I admit that I took it too far, and unreservedly apologise to Griff. I’m sure the banter will continue, and I will try – allowing for my human failings to take the piss when it is put out there – to not descend too deep into the mud pit.

Back to the Subaru – they are the Audi of Japanese cars. 🙂

I realize that almost all catholic are as offend by the actions of a very small minority within the church’s historical leadership as I am when it comes to the sexual abuse coverups within the church. We move forward by learning from past mistakes and the church is doing its best to do so.

EUROPEAN political chiefs are to take advantage of Brexit by unveiling their long-held plan to morph the continent’s countries into one GIANT SUPERSTATE, it has emerged.

The foreign ministers of France and Germany are due to reveal a blueprint to effectively do away with individual member states in what is being described as an “ultimatum”.

Under the radical proposals EU countries will lose the right to have their own army, criminal law, taxation system or central bank, with all those powers being transferred to Brussels.

Controversially member states would also lose what few controls they have left over their own borders, including the procedure for admitting and relocating refugees.

The plot has sparked fury and panic in Poland – a traditional ally of Britain in the fight against federalism – after being leaked to Polish news channel TVP Info.

The public broadcaster reported the bombshell proposal would be presented to a meeting of the Visegrad group of countries – made up of Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia – by German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

In the preamble to the text the two ministers write: “Our countries share a common destiny and a common set of values ??that give rise to an even closer union between our citizens. We will therefore strive for a political union in Europe and invite the next Europeans to participate in this venture.”

In general terms, you have my take on refugees correctly – there should certainly be migrants that will contribute to the country, and we do need to be responsible international members and accept refugees commensurate to our capacity, an in accordance with the above criteria.

However, whilst admitting that refugees from Muslim countries are not all terrorists, and that many do do their best to blend with the our ideals as a sovereign country, I strongly recommending that those refugees that are admitted should be the ones being persecuted – Christians, Yasidis and demonstrably moderate Muslims – we do have to accept that there are many young Muslims who are radicalised, who come because of the benefits that are offered rather than intentionally making an effort to assimilate, and who simply do not fit in.
We have seen this in other countries, and I can see no reason at all why we should not expect the same here. Fortunately our vetting process is quite robust, but we have also seen as with the UK model, that the second generation are the ones who become radicalised once the population reaches between 2 – 5 %.
We do not need that here, and our policies should reflect that.

Because, stephie, that is the experience in other countries. Australia have had I think three serious terrorist occurances, and several thwarted – the population of Muslims in Australia is about 2%

And the esxperience of other countries is similar – France 5% and so on.
