The Darwin Awards is a popular website that “commemorates individuals who protect our gene pool by making the ultimate sacrifice of their own lives. Darwin Award winners eliminate themselves in an extraordinarily idiotic manner, thereby improving our species’ chances of long-term survival.” I’d like to nominate a certain political party for one. It should win hands down.

The competition is tough. “All human races, cultures, and socioeconomic groups are eligible,” according to the contest rules. Though these rules do not specifically mention political institutions, the Republican Party, founded in 1854, meets the criteria for entry. No doubt about it.

John Roughan, of the Hooerald, has really cracked how to defeat ISIL and other Islamic terrorists like Al Qaeda. In his column in today’s Hooerald, speficially the boot in the tail, where the conclusion often is placed, Roughan writes:

The more we treat them as simply the deranged crimes they are, the more quickly this nonsense might pass.

So the world merely declares ISIL an insane organisation, and the “nonsense” passes?

I’m not worried about the polls too much. I’m very much supportive of the National-Labour consensus that’s been in place since 1935. Politics in New Zealand is more about personalities than policy or philosophy. I’m certainly not angry about anything. I think their are quite a few Kiwibloggers much higher on the angry scale than me.

Quite so Milkey. Well I remember that day many years ago when a pissed Percy Dowse (labour Mayor of Lower Hutt) hit our curbside tree on Naenae Road and my parents invited him into our house for a stiff drink before the constabulary arrived! 🙂

Got him off a sticky one that did when my old man told the constabule he was sober before he gave him the whiskey.

Sorry guys, to interrupt the flow of early evening Saturday GD conversation. I’ve been writing the below all day, with breaks to ferry various family around the place and go to Mass, and now I’ve finally finished it.

Aren’t the MSM a pack of low life scum, using Jo Cox’s death as a vehicle to keep Britain in the EU? One witness who was said to have heard ‘Britain First’ shouted by the killer, has completely refuted that claim, and has gone so far as put a sign in his shop window to that effect.

That first witness, is he Hicham Ben Abdallah, the one that only saw a guy kicking something on the ground between two cars and screaming? Or someone else? And which shop window?

A second witness also refuted, and a the third one is not really sure what was said by the killer.

It’s kind of difficult to fact check this, but I’m guessing the second witness being referred to is Graeme Howard, and the 3rd one is Clarke Rothwell. I can’t find any refution of what Graeme Howard said, and as for Clarke Rothwell, he’s sticking to his story. See BBC interview: Jo Cox MP death: Eyewitness heard man shouting

To think that before the internet we must have been fed absolute lies by the media, and we were none the wiser; those arseholes are now reaping what they have sown as their reputation reaches rock bottom.

It’s a bit of a leap to say that the media has been lying. To me, it seems there is a bit of sloppy reporting and confusion as to who saw what, and who said what.

For instance, Hicham Ben Abdallah, either came out of the library or the cafe, and/or owned or just managed the cafe or restaurant. I’ve seached on Google Maps for the Azzuro Restaurant and found that it does exist, looks like a cafe, is called a cafe restaurant, and is right next to the library, outside of which Jo Cox was killed. (see Google Maps page

Some articles confuse Clarke Rothwell and Graeme Howard, by referring to Howard in the internet link about something Rothwell said, which is then corrected in the article. Some also confuse Clarke Rothwell with the cafe owner/manager.

Also there are two cafes – one is the Azzuro Cafe Restaurant, mentioned above, and the second Sandwich and Co, which is across the street from the library. Clarke Rothwell was buying lunch there, at Sandwich and Co, and when he came out he saw what was happening to Jo Cox.

That video you posted, and put out by the Britain First group, looks to me like they are working hard to try and dissasociate themselves from the killer. I’ve watched the entire thing, and find it interesting that the witnesses are not referred to by name, and that the killer potentially shouting “Put Britain First!” supposedly competely refutes that he might have shouted, “Britain First!” Whether he shouted one or the other or both – does it really matter? If there are links between him and the Britain First group, then they will be found, and no amount of trying to disregard what Clarke Rothwell heard will change that.

I find the piece of paper stuck to the door interesting as well (on video at 2:29). It says, for those that can bothered watching the video:

Apparently, whoever wrote it was thought to have tackled the killer. They are saying they didn’t and were also saying no one said Britain first. No name is given as to who supposedly wrote this. It seems implied that it’s the cafe owner or manager, Hicham Ben Abdallah, and it’s also implied that it’s on one of the shop doors in the area. It doesn’t look like the Azzuro Cafe Restaurant door, if the pictures I’ve looked at on Google Earth are anything to go by, neither does it look like it could be stuck to Sandwich and Co. Maybe you, Inandout, can put a bit of effort into identifying the location, which could be on a nearby shop. There’s not much to go on, just the beginning of some words written on glass.

The whole denial of the attacker shouting “Britain first” seems to be resting upon incomplete and misleading conclusions. And especially on the denial of what Clarke Rothwell heard. The word “put” apparently discrediting the whole meaning of what he said? Come on. Given that neo-Nazi paraphenalia was found at the attackers house, the link might not be directly to the group, but instead support for their aims. But very little, if anything has been refuted. I’m sure more will come out with time.

Thanks all..yeah Thailand can be harsh on you until you have got it sussed, I got ripped plenty of times in the past but you learn not to trust anyone, and unfortunately that’s just the way it is here. Ive seen people come and go, get sucked in and spat out the other end, left with only the shirt on their back. Very harsh, and you see a lot of farang living on the streets, they have no money and cant get back home, many topping themselves as it gets too much.

Yes I have seen the worst also Starboard, on the other hand I have seen the very best that Thailand has to offer.

It depends on your stickability a lot I reckon, if you can hold in long enough to a. Understand your surroundings, and b. Meet and be accepted by good locals, c. Buy in to the way of life, you will do OK and love being there.

Loser farang will be losers in Thailand or anywhere else they frequent.

Because HC, duh, the way it works is: you make a statement, the MSM idiots repeat it, widely and breathlessly. Then, by the time the correction is made, the sheeple don’t register it, evidently because most sheeple’s minds are so incredibly tiny they can only accommodate so many ideas, let alone adjust ones that have already been implanted. Expecting your average sheeple to adjust on top of processing the limited amount of new input they’re capable of is evidently just a bridge too far. And that’s why the politicians do it like this. Unless of course the correction has big tits associated to it, which is an anchor the politicians haven’t yet thought of providing and God help us when they finally do, or maybe actually that would be a good thing, on second thought.

Well Reid, its a mixture of things but the one I like the most ( apart from the weather ) is the freedom. Freedom to ride your chopper down the road at full tit with no helmet..and nobody is going to give a toss because they are all doing the same thing. Freedom, Freedom, Freedom. No crazy H&S. Everyone just gets on with what they have to do.

Cheap..I just had half a bbq chicken and somtum salad for dinner cost $3.00. One Heineken 500ml tin $3.00.

The girls/ladies, I can go to any bar, purchase a lady for the night, go out for a bite and a drink, have fun no strings, kiss her goodbye in the morning…and, if I want to..do the same again that night.

The beaches..Im an old surfer from way back, here we have some fantastic beaches to catch a few waves..and the water is like soup..beautiful.

The food in general, fresh everyday, fruit, seafood, anything you like..cheap cheap cheap!

The Thai people, in general, I love them to bits. Yes there are dirt bags, as in any country, but you learn after a period to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Lifestyle.

Many, many more reasons to love Thailand but tis happy hour and I am an old soak……

The Pleiades are a Northern group (dec + 24) so they are more prominent in the Northern hemisphere than they are here. Also the Greeks named nine of the stars (although one of those named, Sterope is a double). Actually ten stars bright enough to be visible to the unaided eye with good eyesight and no Moon around with the double counted as one star needing optical aid to separate them. The cluster actually contains well over a thousand stars not counting unresolved binaries.The guy was talking shit.
