I feel physically sick that there are people who can torture a defenseless 3 year old.

A primary teacher phoned Duncan Garner to say she briefly worked at a rural primary school. One of her pupils continuously had bruising. When she took the issue to the Principal she was told to leave it alone as the Iwi were dealing with it. Nothing changed.

She continued to question the lack of action and was finally told if she did report it her garage would be burnt down.

I guess some Maori don’t give a damn about their precious moko

Hurling rocks, bricks and even Molotov cocktails, anti-capitalist protesters clashed with police in downtown Seattle as May Day mayhem erupted again following a peaceful march.

By 8pm Sunday (local time) at least two officers had been injured and at least five people had been arrested, Seattle police reported. One injured officer suffered a head injury when he was struck by an object, possibly a rock.

The city unleashed a massive deployment of police officers in riot gear – on foot, on bicycles, on horseback and in vehicles – to control the crowd of dozens of masked-protesters who began massing in Westlake Park shortly after 5pm.

Mind you this is why I like cops

Within minutes, protesters and police clashed near Fifth Avenue and Pine Street. Some demonstrators hurled rocks and other objects, while police liberally doused parts of the crowd with pepper-spray.

The demonstrators marched north on Fourth Avenue into the Belltown neighbourhood, as the massive deployment of heavily armed officers flanked and contained them.

It is simple, get these news producers to sit in front of some news programs from say 20 years ago and compare it to the rubbish they put up today and equally as important is how they presented it back then.

Do the public really want the shows you mention or are they just cheap buy-ins for the networks and the public “put up with it” ?
But, maybe you are right and many in the audience soak up that lot.

Weldon has an issue with the TV part of Mediaworks — what I’m suggesting is if he forgets trying to copy the opposition and reverts to “serious” news reporting and puts on a decent news session he may get back many of the viewers the TV networks have lost over the last decade. I’m a news “geek” but I haven’t watched TV news for years now.

I wondered at the time if Key somehow manouvered Welden into the position so as to take out the main opposition to him in the media space. TVNZ can always be controlled but Mediaworks of course was always a different story, till Welden strolled in.

Longknives, from what I can understand the killers were not suppose to have this wee soul in their care longterm. And no doubt his parents were young and unable to look after him. So when placed into care someone should have vetted the carers. That does not take away what they did to Moko at all. And yep, you can say that the parents shouldn’t be having kids.

Grieve for the life of a child who was beaten to death. Not gloat that it supports your theories that all Maori are child killers.

If you’re child is in Stardship for 2 months it’s normally because the child has a terminal illness. If that’s the case, I think it’s sad there was no means that Moko wasn’t able to be with her.

My heart just goes out to this mother because I wouldn’t be surprised that she’s blaming herself.

On many occasions you have intimated that you will do whatever it takes to protect this ” good name” and as yet you have taken no steps to do this.

Not at all Harry, by all means rant or vent or express views exactly how you wish. Just as I do, thanks to our host. The trouble with Maoridom is that it’s that magical being creates, partakes, makes huge mistakes, is suppose to fix all woes and be the punching bag for all and sundry.

I have no idea who Maoridom is.

As a Maori, I answer for myself. I don’t beat my children, although my grown children often felt the wooden spoon on their arses. As a nana and older mother of a young child, I’ve learned other methods to discipline. As a soon to be caregiver for children in care, I can vouch for my own worth to be able to care for young children as a single working parent.

So does this make me Maoridom?

From where I stand no one appears to want to do anything.

I am hoping that Anne Tolley’s proposed restructure of CYFS will bring distinct improvements to the lives of vulnerable children.

The philosophy that damaged/vulnerable children need to be kept within family-whanau structures deserves to be challenged and overturned in many cases. It is hopeless placing a vulnerable child into a family that has violence/drug/booze problems.

I’m not opposed to institutional care for kids (along the lines of well-run, caring boarding schools or orphanages).

Maggy, as a kid I was in such care from the age of 10 to 18.

I hope they run them better than they did then if it ever becomes an option.

‘Grumpy Old Hori’, a commentator from the past who wasn’t much of a fan of things Pakeha had opinions along the lines you mentioned. He reckoned that if you could educate the kids in boarding schools then you had a far better chance of breaking the cycle.

His idea was schooling them away from the bad influences yet have them spend holidays with family when possible.

Made sense to me.

And I was sent to boarding school for a couple of years when 10 years old after my mother committed suicide.
Most kids arrived at that school aged 8 years.

We had good care… food and education.

So I know it can be done.

I know some people have had crap experiences with foster care and institutions….. So no excuses nowadays….. all types of care set-ups need to be well audited etc….
I don’t imagine every set-up is going to be perfect for each child…. but they must ensure that each child is safe at all times.

Boarding school is different to orphanages tho Maggy. I was in the latter til I was 15 then state foster home til 18.

The benefits of the orphanage was it taught the kids structure. Get up at a certain time, 3 meals a day, clothed, made sure we attended school. Prayers every day, church twice a day on Sunday, all good solid stuff.

Good caregiving was a hit and miss affair. And some were just bloody shocking. As for discipline, the devil was beaten out of you. Because that’s the way it was done in the 60s and 70s.

I do believe it can be done. Just vet caregivers as carefully as you can because those places can be a goldmine for pedophiles.

Structure and caring adults are the key. I don’t believe family are the only ones who can care for kids.

I don’t think there was ever any nasty scandal attached to my boarding school…. no bad teachers… and never any physical discipline as it was a Quaker school…… just loss of privileges.

I suppose some folks would be shocked to learn that we occasionally had nude swimming at our mixed -sex boarding school.
(separate times for boys and girls though).

And we thought nothing of it if a male teacher wandered into the girl’s shower rooms to talk to his wife who was on girl’s shower duty.

(1) Cat’s piss – I haven’t had a cat since last one in 2011. I really did have cat piss in the house. Fact. What a prick that is to deal with. You’re meant to have a cat flap or freakin litter tray. I put newspaper down – they’d piss next to it the little bastards.

(2) So I’m at ‘slobs n slaves’ – at closing – it’s five minutes after – and some brown woman wants in. Nope. Then she’s back a second time – ah yeah – why not try it on some more ? I couldn’t even understand her English so I asked the worker; she wanted to come in to get the kids’ lunches. That’s a good line. Nice little attempt to tug the heart strings. So – you know what happened next . . . she got told no a second time. Fuck – she was just a total disgusting braindead dribbling moron. When you see them – all of the misery stats make a lot more sense. See them up close. Get out of your middle class coziness and take a good hard look at these muppets. It’s not how you help them – it’s how you manage them. They’re beyond help.

(3) nasska’s kid shooter link. I’m torn. Harsh me says fuck him – got everything he asked for. Soft me says he was shot trying to run off – but then he’d presented a gun, hello ? Actually – fuck him. The boy – 11 – was of course obese – fat as anything. The kid fired what, 12 shots ? And only one hit the dude – in the leg ? Oh well – that’s a good lesson – fuck with people, get shot in the leg. Love it.

(4) Princess Charlotte (who ?) has some new photos on a ‘newssite’. Cool – let me at them. Who are these blood-thirsty retards salivating for different photos of the same kid ? Hello – who cares ? It’s a pre-toddler – it will look like a pre-toddler – a lot like all the rest of them. Idiots.

(5) I found a new packaged toothbrush. At home I looked at it – Colgate Twister. It’s a what now ? Yeah – it’s meant to . . . um . . do something . . . not too sure. The bristles are special because . . . well, they apparently clean in different directions. Before they invented the Twister – one had to move one’s hand in different directions to achieve the same result. I don’t know. It’s a fucking toothbrush. It’s better for your teeth with measurable solid scientific evidence because . . . ???
These clowns that spend all day coming up with the latest non-improvement BS gimmicky idiocy. They never run out of sheer utter stupidity. The internet is a thing. 3D printer ? Oh yeah. Twister toothbrush ? Get the fuck out of here !!

(6) Everything is betterer with ze inter-thingy. I am able to look up people who effectively demanded a forced apology, able to due to their social standing. Oh right – just look at them. Forget about it – on a hiding to nothing there. They can put a ‘social hit’ out and squash anyone they don’t like. Cool. At least I’m able to see what I’m up against. Thanks social media. It should be called anti-social media.

(7) I was watching Andrew Little – in some far off shithole – Iraq ? I don’t know. I just had to turn him off after a while. Who knows what he’s prattling about – interviewing him on the street. That’s great for sound quality – I’ll bet he feels really special, like a war correspondent or something, you know ‘in the thick of it’. How much of it is being Labour leader I don’t know – I just can’t stand his face. The droning is bad – between the two. I just imagine this boy getting any, can you ? A face you’d scrub ya washing on.

Too busy anyway – that’s a tough job trying to keep Labour alive and kicking. Must be long hours. I wonder who does more hours – him or John Key ? The same – 80-100. No idea. What about the backbenchers and all of those faceless list gimptards ? I wonder how many constituents have had a face-to-face meeting with an MP this year so far ?
