NZ is not a tax haven

Some MPs are claiming NZ is a tax haven. They’re wrong. And if you don’t trust me, look at what the Tax Justice Network said in 2013.

We’re in 48th place of 82 countries. Behind Singapore, US, Germany, Japan, Canada, Austria, UK, Israel, Belgium, Netherlands France, Australia and Ireland!  Are these all tax havens also?

We do require disclosure of details of foreign trusts – see this IRD form. This info is shared with countries we have tax treaties with. The problem is some countries don’t have tax treaties.
