An increase in CO2 is literally making the Earth greener, a massive new study says.

Rising carbon dioxide (CO2) levels are causing an explosion in plant growth, according to a huge scientific study published Monday in the journal Nature Climate Change.

The study is the largest of its kind and was written by 32 scientists from 24 colleges and universities in eight countries. It used three long-term satellite records of plant area and 10 different global ecosystem models to measure increasing plant growth.

“We were able to tie the greening largely to the fertilizing effect of rising atmospheric CO2 concentration by tasking several computer models to mimic plant growth observed in the satellite data,” Ranga Myneni, one of the study’s co-authors who is a professor at Boston University, said in a press statement.

As well as those two being unlikely bedfellows, there is the danger of a backlash from those pissed off at the way the Republican party has been handling Trump. I can easily see a number of people moving towards Trump in the primaries as a way of saying “stuff you” to the leadership.

Almost half a million people have signed a petition saying they will boycott Target stores in the U.S over their new “transgender” bathrooms, where people of either sex can use any bathroom they like.

“We welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity,” the company said in a statement. “Everyone deserves to feel like they belong. And you’ll always be accepted, respected and welcomed at Target.”

People have taken to social media to express disgust and outrage over Target’s decision to allow transgender people to use any bathroom or fitting room.

I have it on good authority that the President is in fact half black .At least you’ve come some way and not claiming he is e.g a card carrying member of the Muslim brotherhood .

Speaking of unenforceable bans what will you do now when you see a man trailing into the women’s bathroom after some young girls? Raise a concern? Follow him? Alert shop security? If he claims he identifies as a woman what will you say? Once that’s happened will you ever say anything again in that situation?

Anyway, it’s good to see the myth of the male, heterosexual predator, together with this recent crying about “safe spaces” for women being dumped by the left-wing.

I must say that am surprised that you, a usually rational person, would support such a nonsense law.
Not only is there no evidence that transgender people pose any kind of bathroom threat, such laws are completely unenforceable, unless you propose bathroom police to inspect suspect genitals before entry to a bathroom.

If we banned everything that had the potential to be abused by sex predators we wouldn’t have swimming pools or changing rooms at all.

You’re more likely to be involved in a car crash or a road rage incident on your way home from the pool, than you are likely to be accosted by a sexual predator in the changing rooms while you’re there.

This whole issue is just the gay panic defense brought up-to-date. I don’t understand these people, therefore I’m scared shitless of them. It shouldn’t be allowed (whatever it is)…

Judging by his post at 12:30pm…no. Outside the plausibility structure to suggest the proposals of SJW’s can be used as a device to further evil…and when you do so you are not criticising or judging the disaffected group on whose behalf the SJW’s are agitating.

Even mikenmild is not that obtuse. He’s knows exactly what the practical problems are, but he’d rather sit around taunting his bete noir, Christians, and other “right-wingers”, and virtue signalling about what a virtuous person he is.

I’ve been in plenty of nightclubs over the years where tranny’s walked into the mens room, and the girls experienced the same in the womens room. No great trauma was felt.

This is not that situation. You have young kids in a mall, shop or restaurant who need to pee. If they’re boys it’s simple: you take them to the mens room. If it’s your daughters, what do you do as the guy? I’ve known fathers who, in desperation, asked women to accompany their daughters to the toilets. Or maybe they’re lucky enough to find a disabled toilet where the door can be shut. As I said the other day, this new world means the father gets to walk into the woman’s toilets with no questions asked.

And as I also pointed out, we’ll see how the left-wing feminists screeching about the prevalance of male predators, react to that.

My behaviour would not change under such a rule.

The chances of being sexually assaulted by a transgender person in a public toilet are vanishingly small. If there were a real threat, businesses and local authorities would respond by building secure unisex toilets rather than passing discriminatory laws that will have no effect.

If I had a young daughter who went to the toilet alone in a mall and was followed in by a male, I too would go into the toilet.
You have not outlined how a law change would prevent that man from gong into the women’s toilets.
If you were really interested in the bathroom safety of little girls, you would surely be asking your local shopping mall to invest in unisex toilets.

Re the toilet issue. The rules have changed, therefore we cannot assume that past experience will still apply.

For example, with the CDOs in the US, that changed the rules (the banks now had no money in the game) and suddenly uncreditworthy people were given huge loans. The previous default experience proved to be completely unreliable (as various investors in CDOs found to their dismay).

So, the potential for predators to take advantage of the changed rules exists. Will it be significant or not? Only time will tell on that one. Hopefully not, as that would mean many innocent (probably) children will have been harmed.

But as soon as you’re weaned the social conditioning starts. That stuff is BAD and WRONG and DIRTY, and if you even so much as THINK about it then you’re BAD and WRONG and DIRTY too. Now say 20 Hail Marys and be off with you.

It probably made a lot of sense in Pre-1914 society to have a large amount of taboo around sex, as a form of birth control in societies that simply could not afford to look after a lot of unwed mothers.

Sheesh – talk about Western-centric attitudes.

The same “rules” exist across myriad societies on the planet, across multiple religions and cultures. It would seem that such “uptight” attitudes about stuff being WRONG and DIRTY are not related to Western Christianity or even religion. The separation of the sexes in certain key parts of life like ablutions is a human thing, with some comingling at the margins in some societies.

And that’s where the identity politics of the Left are in play. There’s a desire among very tiny fringe groups to totally overthrow traditional human attiudes across the board in favour of such things as gender fluidity. All very revolutionary and exciting of course.

And you will be made to care.

RRM raises the matter about the Land Wars, also known as the Maori Wars.
I think that the Maori Wars are best forgotten.
Many New Zealanders were shot and killed in two world wars.
I have not read of any New Zealanders being killed by tomahawks splitting their skulls as they sat defenceless at the mercy of their opponents, as happened near the Wairau River in 1843.
There are many exceedingly ugly aspects to the Maori Wars that are best forgotten about. Accept it. Get over it. Get on with your life! But many would rather sanitise the ugly aspects as they revise our country’s history.

The New Zealand Wars are an important part of our history. I’m a bit curious as to why they should be forgotten. Just up the road from me is a memorial to the soldiers killed n the skirmish at Boulcott’s Farm n 1845. Should that memorial be removed?

Leaving aside for the moment the fact that gender is social, not biological (the word is “sex” not “gender” if you’re talking biology or physical features), the god-botherers’ preferred rules regarding this demand that this guy use the women’s toilets. So, after Fletch gets his law requiring people to use the bathroom of their actual sex, Tom Hunter gets to see Michael Hughes following his daughter into the women’s toilets but may be arrested if he decides to investigate.

My solution? Don’t stress yourself into a lather over public toilets.

There’s nothing wrong with having unisex toilets. In a civilised society anyway. Although I suspect in the US they will end up with Male, Female and Male/female toilets.
That said I would never let my young sons be unaccompanied in any toilet regardless. Funnily enough if my wife is out with them and they need to go, often they will use the female toilets…
The sad fact is, if someone going to molest you, it won’t matter what sign is on the door.

Which is pretty much Trump’s stand on it. Kind of a Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell mentality of leaving everything as it is and not purposely making toilets gender-neutral as Target has done. At the moment, if a guy walks into a female toilet, the females can run out, get a security guard and have him forcibly ejected. If, however, the toilet is gender-neutral then there is nothing the woman can do about it as he suddenly has every right to be there. He may not harass anybody, but not everybody wants a member of the opposite sex to share the same toilets as they do, and fair enough.

Fletch, I’ve come across public toilets nation wide in NZ that do not designate male or female and yet every case I read about of perverts polluting public toilets is in a single sex toilet.

The whole argument is bloody stupid unless they are also legislating to take lockable doors of the individual stalls.

I do agree with All_on_Red at 13:34. Just because it’s single sex doesn’t mean there are less perverts. Accompany kids every time.

Longknives, I don’t think the Boyd massacre has been erased from History .You can google many links and articles about the event so it hardly can be seen as “erased from memory. ” Probably an intersting basis for a documentary or at least a book or article by say Paul Moon or Scott Hamilton .

Mikey, give it time, human beings are remarkably efficient at exploiting new opportunities for their weird ways.

I’ll give a personal experience as an example.

A few years ago I was with the kids and other family members at the Christchurch botanical gardens on a sunny day, we ended up at the play ground/paddling pool as families tend to do.

There was this guy there by himself on a mountain bike and with a helmet kitted out in all the latest gear, sort lurking in the back ground.
At first no one thought anything of it, but then one by one people started to suspect something wasn’t right.

He was pretending to be talking on a cell phone, but then we watched as he would track kids with his helmet, kind of like panning a camera.

After 10 mins of this he got more brazen and started moving forward, however, more people became suspicious. He was obviously filming the kids with a small helmet mounted camera and the cell phone was either being used as a shutter device or was simply a cover.

Someone then confronted him and asked him what he was doing and it became obvious he was up to no good, then a large Maori women came over and told him in no uncertain terms to eff off and she called the cops. He took off in a hurry. People thanked her for her efforts.

Allowing men into the women’s toilet is a wonderful opportunity for these kinds of creeps and they will gladly exploit it.

The world has gone nuts.

Under the new public toilet decency act they have the right to careful inspect your genitalia to insure you are in fact the correct sex for the toilet you are wishing to use .
Any one with a particularly small penis such as jack 5 or story board will need to see their doctor to get a genetic test and carry at all times a photographic gender assignment card to insure they are not actually woman with a large clit or in fact hermaphrodites In which case they will be required to use the men in frocks and priests toilet every park over ten hectors will be required to install.

In Auckland there is a trend towards those automated public tiolets that are unisex although Malls still have male/female ones. The one problem with automated tiolets especially the ones at Bastion Point is that long queue’s form when a crowd of people arrive on buses. Another change is that urinals for men are on the way out as well which contributes to the queue’s.
