Evening Nosty.
I had a bit of a cleanup and I am not sure if I still have all the decisions. That said, her boast was that she had no legal traing yet won 21 out of 22 cases. This statement was made around the time of her civic award. She did not clarify what she regarded as a “case”, so I do not know if a loss in the district court, High Court, CA and SC represents a single lost case or 4 lost cases.
Going some way back, there is a case involving the electoral commission. Couldn’t find it but it apparently involved Ms Bright and others who tried to have a go at a candidate for misrepresentation. Fail 1.
She lost her prosecution of the PM for his questioning of the minister of railways – DC and HC.
She lost her Metro worker case (Refusing to pay water rates) . I think that may have gone to CA. She lost her earlier rates case. She appealed and was ordered to give security for costs. She appealed that order and lost. That was the case in which She said she shouldn’t have to pay security cos she was a watchdog.
She lost a trespass case. It went to CA. From memory. That was the case in which she appeared to suggest that, as a watchdog, she had greater rights of attendance at council meetings than the great unwashed – or at least that is how the judge appeared to understand the argument.
She appeared as a MacKenzie friend in another rates case . The court adjourned it, told her that she was meddling contrary to the litigation interest of the defendants and was told she was no longer welocome in the court.
She appeared to be behind the Ike Finau case involved signs and those backing Finau were criticised by the court – suggesting that they were using Finau.
She lost her recent rates case. In my view, she lost the Aotea square case- a view that she does not share.

When US internet giants mention Australia in passing – let alone actually visit the country or establish operations here – they are usually showered with media coverage.

But when China’s most valuable internet company, Alibaba, announced plans to open an office in Australia last week, it barely registered a whimper.

Alibaba, the e-commerce colossus that processed transactions worth $US149 billion in the December quarter alone, said at an event in Hangzhou last week it would open an Australian office “later this year”.

The fall-out from the Queensland crackdown on ride-sharing services such as Uber continued a day after the harsher penalties were passed by the Queensland Parliament, with the government warning LNP-supported amendments to the bill could make charter buses and limousines illegal, if they don’t have a taxi licence.

Labor and the LNP both voted to increase the fines for both Uber and the driver, as well as changes to the offence itself to make it easier for Transport Inspectors to fine those working for ride-sharing services, instead of supporting the Katter Party suggestion of demerit points.

As a result, the definition of a person who administers a taxi service may have been significantly broadened, to effectively capture anyone who provides a booking service for a service using a motor vehicle to transport passengers for a fee,” he said.

Re the Stephieperson who posted at 9.42 about the two Al Qaeda convert “martyrs” who met in Christchurch, and whose path to radicalisation likely began in the city.

Two from a non-Muslim city of under 400,000 is not an insignificant number. If the scale was the same for the whole of NZ we would be talking about 22 New Zealand fatalities with Al Qaeda in Yemen. In the Vietnam war, 37 NZ soldiers were killed.

How many from NZ are serving with Al Qaeda in Yemen and haven’t yet been killed?

If some of the Al Qaeda mob sneak back into NZ let’s hope they get a welcome home at least as hostile as the peaceniks gave NZ Vietnam veterans.
