National is happy to lie about domestic violence to attract the female vote.

Radio NZ Careless about Domestic Violence Figures

The Broadcasting Standards Authority (BSA) has upheld a complaint that Radio NZ broadcast incorrect statistics about family violence deaths. The incorrect figures claimed that more than twice as many women than men are being killed by family members in New Zealand. Authoritative figures show that almost as many men are killed as women.

Radio NZ relied on old figures published by the Ministry for Social Development that were unreferenced as to their origin. The BSA found that Radio NZ did not take reasonable efforts to ensure their broadcast was accurate. The BSA noted that Radio NZ also ignored a listener’s efforts to point out the figures were wrong.

Even entrenched lefties like Toby Manhire are poking borax at Labour and Little:

To be stuck defending itself against charges of Muldoonism and targeting Asian chefs can’t be much fun for Labour, especially in the week after they enjoyed a big success in getting the Government to do away with zero-hours contracts.

In that spirit, however, where were they this week on revelations Bunnings Warehouse is paying “community group” workers below the minimum wage. As far as I could see, by lunchtime yesterday, no one from Labour had said a word on the matter.

The “ethnic chef” kerfuffle, coming in the wake of the Auckland property Chinese-names stunt – which chief architect Phil Twyford last week conceded to the Politik website was “a less than masterful piece of political communication” – is guaranteed to light the blue touch paper. What are they playing at?

Some have said this is more dog-whistling, Labour manoeuvring into NZ First territory. But it is probably nothing so strategically sophisticated. They don’t look like Winston, nor like Muldoon; they just look a bit lost. For the time being, Labour still come across as the party barking at every passing car, making it up as they go along.

I read the headline Chuck. Then I read PAST the headline, and noted the judge’s comments that the counsel for the prosecution had failed to provide evidence contradicting that of the defence. So this case may not be as simple as the headline makes it sound.

Having said that however, there is never a justification for the downloading and possession of kiddie porn.

BTW I caught that interview with Hitler’s barber. When he stated that Hitter was a very nice amiable chap I wondered if he ever attended his Führer ‘s political rallies ?

I thought also the last thing Hitler would want to discuss with his hairdresser is his political and battle plans let alone what he had in mind for the Jews.

The media are doing that already , regularly choosing the most unflattering photos to portray Trump. Contrast that with the choice of photos used for the Messiah , doing their utmost to make him appear statesmanlike when he is anything but.

Talking of the lying media ,all they seem interested in in the UK budget news is the proposed sugar tax, no discussion of how the budget fails to address Britains’ hopeless indebtedness.

IMHO Trump is merely a manifestation of a people who have said enough is enough we aint gonna put up with any more crap and Trump is the vehicle for their protest.

BTW – I noted some Trump worshipper the other day jumping up and down about Fox News’s “garbage” coverage of Trump. As I’ve said before I don’t watch Fox (or most any broadcast or cable TV nowdays), but anybody who thinks Fox has been opposed to Trump needs to read Fox: Full time Enablers of Trump.

The article goes through the lengthy list of Fox News hosts and shows the amount of coverage they’ve given Trump. Here’s just a sample:

Trump’s new 30-second spot, released Monday morning, was played in its entirety 40 times on the cable news networks between Monday and Tuesday morning, according to POLITICO’s count. Using hour-by-hour prices provided by ad tracking firms for 30-second ads on CNN, Fox News and MSNBC, POLITICO estimated that the 40 airings would have cost Trump $330,000.

MSNBC and Fox News each played the ad 14 times in its entirety between Monday and Tuesday morning. CNN played the ad 12 times in the same time period. On Fox, which dominates the cable ratings, that would amount to about $200,000 in free ad time. The ad, if aired in full during the morning shows and nightly newscasts, would have cost hundreds of thousands more.

“I’ve spent zero on advertising because you and Fox and all of the others — I won’t mention names, but every other network, I mean they cover me a lot, to put it mildly,” he told Fox News host Neil Cavuto in October. “And in covering me, it’s almost like if I put ads in on top of the program, it would be too much. It would be too much Trump.”

As the article points out, hosts Hannity and Bill O’Reilly are the two main culprits, but there are others who have also taken to defending everything Trump says – to the sarcastic disgust of a few holdouts like Greg Gutfeld:

The best part was watching Hannity, who has been a fixture in Republican (not conservative) circles for the last 20 years, talk about “the establishment” and the “ruling class” as if he was only hatched in June of 2015 as a populist. Trump’s appearances on Hannity’s show became so common, people had betting pools on how many times per week Trump would appear.

What’s more hilarious, is Trump would actually complain about Fox News and in fact, at one point, boycotted the network for several weeks.

No I don’t think Trump is comparable to Hitler but I think e.g George Wallace and Benito Mussolini is more helpful and interesting .

If Trump is to be targeted over his taxes (and there may well be some interesting entries in there), that certainly opens up the possibility that the tax records and in fact the general accounting records for the Clinton Foundation should come under similar scrutiny, and oh boy are there likely to be some “interesting” little nuggets in there. Why hasn’t it been more widely reported upon that the Foundation has wrongly declared many millions in “donations” from foreigners (in fact it apparently forgot to declare them at all) over a number of years. It is to restate it’s declarations from 2011 onwards. And what about Hillary’s actions with regard to Laureate Education, Bill was paid $16.5 Million over 4 years as “Honorary” Chancellor, one wonders what sort of return Laureate expected for that largesse.

Trump may well be vulnerable (if enough of his potential supporters care) on tax grounds, but there’s enough skeletons in the Clinton closet to staff a myriad of horror movies sets.

Not that I mind Trump being undermined, my personal opinion is that he’s a massive egomaniac and a borderline conman who is doing a very clever selling and positioning number on a disillusioned populace. As such he follows the previous general election winner who carried off the same trick; there’s a surprising number of parallels between Trump and Obama. But if I had to chose between Trump and Clinton, I’d hold my nose awful hard and vote for Trump; entrenching corruption and a contempt for the rule of law by electing Hillary Clinton goes a step too far for me.

Yeah, the Trump = Hitler is dumb, dull, boring and utterly predictable – but we’re talking about the left-wing here, so what else would you expect?

So with that in mind I present something I put on one of the Trump threads the other day, because it’s too good to just put up once (or even just twice). It starts with this Tweet from bad girl, Kathy Shaidle:

“Hitler? Be more worried that Trump will turn out to be like that other Austrian…”

And the linked article continues….

A similar thing nearly happened in 2003, when the left tried its damnedest to convince California voters that Arnold Schwarzenegger was Hitler incarnate. The mainstream press portrayed Ah-nuld as a Nazi-loving rapist whose election would lead to Mexicans being sent to death camps as Einsatzgruppen squads turned Home Depot parking lots into killing fields of machine-gunned drywallers. But the right didn’t bite, and neither did Schwarzenegger, who watched his words, made few if any campaign missteps, and generally ran a clean, G-rated, inoffensive campaign, in which he pledged to be one of those jolly, likable, fiscally frugal Eisenhower Republicans that everyone can feel comfortable with.

This image always comes to mind when one of our resident lefties pines for “a decent, moderate, sensible Republican”.

And California ended up with one of its worst governors ever—a weak, deceitful, corrupt man of no principles who buckled at the first sign of defeat, freed Latino murderers in exchange for political favors, and left the state in economic shambles. A big-borrowing big spender who, after leaving office, straight-out admitted that his candidacy was a “joke” intended to “freak people out,” and that he ran for office with no idea what he would do if he actually won.

Make no mistake, that would most likely be Trump’s trajectory, too. Like the Austrian bodybuilder, Trump is a wealthy, high-profile loudmouth with no plan to govern and no principles to guide him. The major difference between the campaigns of the two egotistical publicity whores is that in 2003, leftist cries of “he’s a racist Nazi fascist” were met with a resounding “no he isn’t” from Schwarzenegger supporters. Today, those same charges are met by Trump fans with “so what if he is?”

I’m not defending that response, but I’ll freely admit I find it fascinating. I chalk it up to fatigue. Too many people on the right are sick and tired of being policed on the issue of race, by the mainstream media, by SJWs in every corner of society, and by the brand protectors in their own party.

Ah-nuld. Hopes were so high for the non-girly-man!

Re your U of A link, silencing of conservative voices by the angry left on campuses (and beyond) is a global trend and is getting worse. It actually fuels Trump’s popularity because some on the right see him as the only Presidential candidate who will fearlessly stand up to attempts to silence free speech. Trump pushes a few strong definitive themes that resonate strongly across the spectrum (border control – NZers find it hard to conceive of the sense of helplessness Americans feel with inaction on this issue across GOP and Democrat Administrations) and he backs these themes up with demonstrable action (the way he refuses to be manipulated or bullied by the media) and for these attributes, a multitude of sins are forgiven. This in a nutshell is why Trump defies political gravity and has confounded almost all pundits. I don’t support him but I understand fully the reasons for his enduring electoral success in these primaries.

I started following the US campaign about four months ago when I became intrigued by the visceral hatred of Trump in the US media, with Fox only slightly less critical.

At that time my preference, from afar, was for Rubio. Indeed, I posted to that effect on KB. I then realized that the tactics being employed by the media in the US, Europe, Australia and NZ were/are almost identical to the AGW/CC scam. That sort of peaked when that absurd congressman (from somewhere north east) demanded that the anti-racketeering laws be used against those speaking out against the AGW/CC scam. The Click events [at Miss U] sort of capped it all.

Since then the squeals of outrage from the US left, Soros (a character in one of Tom Clancy’s last books seems to reflect him) inspired and funded groups, and the media in particular, have grown louder, and the anti-Trump claims more, and more outlandish.

The media was/is exhibiting classic TDS. Their reporting and bias fully reflects the KDS evident in NZ from about 2011. KDS has infected the media to such an extent that Bradford (Katie) made her infamous “no matter what we do; no matter what we say, the polls just do not move” comment in a TVNZ report. Apart from the NZ media it was, and still is, most noticeable in academic, union (including teachers), and arty-farty circles. KDS was a multi car crash for the left. TDS seems to be pushing the centre and right of US politics toward Trump. From what my relatives living in Alaska, Oregon, Colorado, New York and Florida tell me (KDS) TDS is having the same effect in the US. (Blair M and stupidboy, please take note)

Now, as each day goes by, I suspect that TDS will increase, as will its effects. But its effects will be the reverse of what the purveyors seek.

dime, yes as my link shows Hilary Clinton can be shown fraternising with the ex KKK member Senator Robert Byrd ,but as you will see only after he had long disavowed and renounced his KKK associations .

I’ll make this point just once and then leave it:.

KKK Bryd and others like him were forgiven – even embraced – because they toed the Democrat party line for the rest of their worthless lives. And examples like them and Wallace (or Bill Clinton when it comes to sexual abuse) are never held out as examples of the Democrat party, for which the whole must endlessly apologise for.

By contrast, Republicans are never forgiven – even when they apologise – and their worst examples are always held to be representative of the party.

The rise of Trump and his refusal to apologise or kowtow in the face of such attacks, followed by beating up the media or opponent concerned in an equally vicious manner, perhaps marks the end of this era. But it will not truly end until the Democrats begin to lose election after election while screaming “racist” or whatever new term of abuse arises. Only in the face of repeated failure to gain traction will it stop.

However under the Messiah’s watch ISIS has grabbed half of Iraq , Syria and Libya have become failed states (with the assistance of said Messiah) and a NATO ally (Turkey) murders its own citizens with impunity ,while also assisting ISIS, a sworn enemy of the US.

The same Messiah cannot (will not) control his own borders and believes he can control the weather.

I think that’s another one of the secrets to his success, and he has used this a couple of times. When confronted with hypothetical examples of how inexperienced and potentially stupid he could be in power his response is something along these lines (paraphrasing):

I’m not the expert who invaded Iraq or decapitated the Libyan leadership or helped topple Mubarak or talked about Syrian Red Lines with no follow-through. I’m not one of the super-intelligent experts who negotiated the TPP or the Iranian nuclear deal – or the North Korean nuclear deal either.

I’m not the super-expert who created TARP, the GM bailout, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac or the Obamacare mess or the VA Healthcare or twiddled with the American economy to produce the shallow-breathing fail that has not lifted middle incomes in fifteen years

And on and on. Now I think Trump is talking out of both sides of his mouth on almost all those issues – but he has a point in comparing himself to all the others offering themselves up as informed, pragmatic, smart people.

It’s yet another of his points that resonate with ordinary people but results in puzzled looks from the D.C. crowd, whether it’s Krugman or George Will: Good heavens. Is he really calling us idiots? US. The effrontery of it!

If you’re Hillary Clinton how do you answer that question, especially when some of those can be sheeted home directly to you and that explaining is losing?

Now that Trump looks likely to be the republican candidate, I’m starting to wonder who, amongst all the republicans frantically trying to suck up to him, he might choose as his “running mate”. A marvellously wonderful naughty thought has occurred to me. As far as I know there is no mandated procedure for choosing a VP candidate. So why not go with a method Trump is very familiar with – a reality TV show – shades of the apprentice.

Just imagine it. Each week the Trump could give them a task – “come up with a proposal for solving the budget deficit” or “in 1000 words or less set out a strategy for US policy in the middle east”. They could be asked to hug babies with points awarded for the best baby-hugger. Or perhaps they could be made to give an off the cuff speech on a topic they are only told at the last minute. Since they are republicans they could be checked out on their accuracy with assault weapons on a firing range, or tasked to go out with a border patrol and rugby tackle a few Mexicans.

OK – I’m not being serious really. But by God it would be good television, getting to watch a bunch of political fat cat arse lickers like Christie humiliating themselves as they desperately scramble over each other trying to suck up to Trump and get the VP job. I’d watch that show. Talk about reality TV.

Re your U of A link, silencing of conservative voices by the angry left on campuses (and beyond) is a global trend and is getting worse. It actually fuels Trump’s popularity because some on the right see him as the only Presidential candidate who will fearlessly stand up to attempts to silence free speech. Donald Trump’s primary victories Tuesday present the Republican Party with a stark choice. Should leaders unite behind Mr. Trump, who has collected the most delegates but may reach the convention in July without a nominating majority? Or should they do everything they can to deny him the nomination?

On a political level, this may be a dilemma. As a moral question, it is straightforward. The mission of any responsible Republican should be to block a Trump nomination and election.
