Housing NZ needs to grow some balls. Make the tenants sign a code of conduct and one breach means your on the street, even if you are one of the special people

There could be a link between solo mothers, state housing and methamphetamine.

How do you encourage people to stop using social safety nets as hammocks? (Without giving the State any more power than it already has?)

@ Southern Raider – I find it ironic that the occupiers of these properties are so poor that they need social housing, but obtaining P seems not to be an issue. I just found this:

@ Nostalgia – it was great to have Mitchell Santner back in the mix. I reckon we missed him every bit as much as we missed Ross Taylor in the tests against Australia. He can bat at #6 (or perhaps #7, with BJ Watling moving up a spot), then we are free to play four specialist quicks, not three plus a part-timer like Anderson. Had the test match attack against Australia been four of Boult, Southee, Bracewell, Wagner and Henry plus Santner, the outcome of the series may have been different.

@ Happychappy – I believe the media may have been directed not to refer to Howland’s past conviction until sentencing.

As far as the kiddie porn conviction goes, the Press reported at the time he was sentenced that he had been “curious” about child porn for five years, but only became “addicted” after his son’s death. As far as I am concerned, it only takes one viewing/downloading of child pornography to commit a serious criminal offence, so trying to blame it on his son’s death is just an excuse, and a pretty lame one at that.

As for people using p in state houses or any houses where there are children they fall into the category of those BE wants to see assisted in order that those children do not follow in the footsteps of their parents. There is a mindset involved where the participants have forgotten, if they ever knew, about protecting their young – even if they were not protected themselves. Part of that is called courage, to protect your children from your own failures in order that they do not make the same mistakes rather than the alternative of trying to justify a crap life style and crap life decisions. Break the chains of submission to failure, that’s what I think Bill is trying to do and he should be supported.

I’m sure the wowsers will now down-tick me saying people shouldn’t be doing drugs. Well… take a long sip of your coffee and shrug off the mini hangover from 1 too many glasses of wine last night and think carefully about climbing onto your high horse.

Legalising all drugs won’t help employees operating machinery to pass a drug test.

Alcohol is legal but there appears to be a problem with a significant number of people driving while under the influence.

Perhaps the answer is to legalise P , so the gangs don’t deal in it, drive the price down so even more beneficiaries and solo Mums can smoke it near their children and destroy even more public property.

Southee and Boult look no where near the players they were a year ago.

Boult, especially, he’s down on pace and he seems to have lost the ability to swing the ball back into the right hander, without that he’s very average.

In my opinion both are only in the squad due to previous success, not current form.

In reports and comments on P in state houses occupied by solo mothers with children, there’s no mention of the potential role of boyfriends – the live-in types or otherwise.

It must be extremely difficult for the Housing Corp to police adequately the conditions of its tenancy arrangements in state houses granted to solo mums with young kids. Would it be a surprise to find that free lodgings for a current boyfriend may be helping to pay for his P?

What has happened to the obese,money spending advocate and co Leader of the greens.We have seen a article on a new housing sub division in Christchurch for low income families already have houses contaminated by P and causing health problems for their children.If this had been mould or no heating in these dwellings it would be front page news in the Herald and other rags as the only the landlord blaming Green Leader would be saying but because it has been caused by the adults renting these new homes a small article in the Herald and not peep from the Greens.

Landlords are entitled to inspect their properties. There is no reason for HNZ to not test it’s houses and in fact it is irresponsible for them to not do it. State tenants might treat them better if they are aware that houses will be tested. Shouldn’t be too hard for HNZ to work out which ones to target first in this wonderful new age of shared information between our social support agencies. Search on “trash”.

Food (on a payment card)
Clothing, including school uniforms for the following year.
Drs fees and medication
Travel costs-public and petrol
Emergencies.
SAVINGS!

If they have money left over after that they obviously have other means of income or they’re getting paid too much.

Padriv… Ahhh now if they charge, they’re whores. If they give it away, they’re sluts. Either way, when another child is born on benefit, there’s more tax payers money down the toilet…

And burt, no political party will go near such a policy.

Which is stupid and in nationals case, hypocritical. If a single parent isn’t meeting their benefit obligations, their main benefit can be cut in half. That’s roughly $150 a week they lose. So make it a benefit requirement? They already do it for young parents under the age of 19. I’d rather know kids to single parents on benefit have a warm house to live in, clothes to wear, and food in their stomachs than having their parent turn up to a monthly pointless meeting with a case manager who really has very limited resources to help such beneficiaries.

The mechanics are in place for a wider roll-out, increment by increment. My suggestion for the next one would be for solo parents in social housing. This will ensure their rent and power are paid, that they have money for groceries (excluding smokes and grog) and other essentials, and a bit left over.

And if workplace testing makes you loose your job for that coffee ( which isn’t likely to make your teeth fall out ) then you might risk some other pick-me-up that does but takes less time to leave your system allowing you to pass a work drug test.

I suspect you don’t look past your preconceived ideas about what is OK to ingest – so please pause and consider the situation I’ve painted rather than the colour I’ve used.

I suspect you don’t look past your preconceived ideas about what is OK to ingest – so please pause and consider the situation I’ve painted rather than the colour I’ve used.

You’ve painted a one dimensional situation.

Weed isn’t a “pick me up” it is a “chill me out”

P is a stimulant, the use of it is for an entirely different purpose than dope, so your “painting” is flawed.

Work place drug testing isn’t some arbitrary rule to piss people off, it is because doing certain jobs while under the influence is dangerous to the safety of others.

In any case, the people in the article you referenced don’t appear to be working. (unless cooking P while on the benefit is considered working)

Of those 2,000 accounts, there are around 350 Twitter accounts that act as the main core for ISIS propaganda on Twitter—and these accounts are used to re-establish the followings of accounts each time one is banned.

According to the George Washington University report, each time an ISIS account gets suspended, the user needs to create a new account, and over time these accounts have “suffered devastating reductions in their follower counts.”

“The person who killed him should not have been in this country,” Maloney explained, noting that Matthew’s killer “had assaulted police officers, he had assaulted paramedics, multiple drunk drivings, domestic violence and each time he had a run in with the police, he’d go to court, pay his fine and be let go,” Maloney said.

“Somebody needs to start putting American lives first.”

If in power, a Labour Government would place a cap on immigration immediately.
“At times when our economy is creaking, we need to be able to turn down the tap a bit,” Mr Little said.
Once the economy had recovered, the cap would be removed.”

15 Mar, 2016 (Riyadh, KSA) —- As the international community’s widespread condemnation against Saudi regime for crackdown on pro-democracy movement by staging unfair trials and issuing arbitrary verdicts continues; the Human Rights organization express their grave concerns with the ominous reports confirming the punishment of political opponents by giving them death penalties.

According to the initial reports, the Saudi general prosecutor asked the penal court in Riyadh to sentence 27 Saudi political prisoners to death and 3 others to severe punishments. In May 2013, the Saudi security arrested 30 political activists without pointing charges amid a fierce clampdown on pro-democracy movements in Al-Hasa, Qatif, Jeddah and Medina.

The international community also accuses the Saudi regime of systematic torture and death punishments as a gruesome means to deal with its political dissidents.

Nearly all defendants belong to Saudi Arabia’s persecuted Shiite community and there are eminent Muslim clerics between the convicts— namely Sheikh Badr Al Hilal Taleb and Abdul Jalil Alaithan —, in addition to physicians and university professors whom the Saudi regime accuses of collaboration with the Iranian government and espionage.
