Countries in Eastern Europe are joining NATO because they have good reasons, both historical and contemporary, to fear Russia. This is not some Satanic conspiracy against Russia, but a result of Russia’s long history of bullying Eastern Europe, invading it, helping Hitler to carve up Poland, and enslaving all of Eastern to the murderous ideology of communism.

Putin brought the expansion of NATO on himself, by verbally threatening Eastern European nations, including the Baltic’s, and claiming that the fall of the Soviet Union was a great geopolitical tragedy.

Maybe fewer overt invasions, but millions of lives and probably centuries of under-development is the result of malevolent US/ European interference for those people.

And it pays to remember that Russia has been one of, the not the, most invaded countries in the world.

It has a slightly different perspective on security that the US, for obvious reasons.

I heard Amy Adams on air say 86% of DV was initiated by man. What a crock of shit. We hear 2 females and 3 males assault a bus driver and then smash the bus windows. If the bus driver has of smacked one of the females he would have probably been charged with male assaults female.

Remember the case of the woman who committed an indecent age on her baby son and videoed it. This was back in October. She was meant to be sentenced in November. Has any one heard of the sentence?

Rowan, I counted Kea’s latest visit.

Initially we reckoned she would survive seven days. From that seventh day, K-Day, I began counting,

Kea’s strike 3 sentence was handed down on Tuesday, K-Day +16.

So Kea’s visit lasted 23 days.

Re Kelsey: I don’t know if she is a mercantilist. I do know she is a fierce defender of the people most likely to get hurt by many free trade deals, and the compensation for the losers that is a vital part of free trade theory never eventuates here. People like you fight tooth and nail against that.

But you maybe need to learn to consider learned arguments on their merits, not on your passion for your biases.

The story of Kea was that of a bird that gained the power of speech but the curse was it couldnt stop talking. Eventually it said the wrong things and the benevolent governance and utopia of the land was sabotaged and shocked when the resident god DPF the Chaotic Good reached in and choked the chicken.

How is a police charge for throwing an object at a person and hitting him “more Russian than Kiwi”? I think Andrei might dispute that.

Obviously, Blaze, you think it’s fine to whack people without having a court decide whether this was a breach of the law.

If this is to be trivial for the justice system, people will need to provide their own defence, such as a team of beavies to keep the plebs at a safe distance maybe even taser or tackle anyone about to throw something that could be dangerous.

My beef is with the police for not doing their job and charging Butler.

All former or current (Palestine, Puerto Rico and others) colonised indigenous peoples in the world have similar socio-economic outcomes.

Recognising this would be a great second step.

The rest I’ll leave to the experts, but it would probably involve spending a great deal of money, with the promise of great reward in the future.

But you oppose it because you think Maori and other similar ethnicities are genetically programmed to be that way, don’t you?

From my work experience that was a pretty good portrayal of what takes place in some families in gods own.

And no I did not see the film as I saw far worse in real life.

Don’t you worry.

My childhood home life was the white “Once were Warriors”. Not as bad as the film, but do remember that films dramatise real life. It wasn’t a documentary. And you didn’t see far worse in real life. That’s fantasist stuff.

The point for you is that there is a reason Maori are over-represented in domestic violence and other offences.

It’s the colonisation effect, well documented, and people like me who have sifted through the academic literature understand it well.

Less well understood is how to address it in an environment controlled by the coloniser.

An environment where ‘democracy’ is code for permanent dispossession and oppression of a minority by the majority.

Blaze, re your 10.20 post on the colonisation effect being the cause of Maori violence….

Yep, they were really peaceful folk before Westernisation. No continual tribal warfare, no slavery, no cannibalism.

Today’s violence is entirely the colonists’ fault. Though I concede sudden modernisation after being isolated for so long, must have been traumatic for Maori.

The academic literature you speak of Blaze is undoubtedly rewriting of history, heavily based on oral sources, which of course are ultr-reliable.
