I read through the Israelii child abuse article last week & I agree that it was a sorry tale. Indeed it is no better than & on a par with the covered up crimes committed by agents of the Catholic Church. It is also fair to point out that the protestants have their own share of sickos.

Where they differ although is that sex with children is not sanctioned in the Bible nor the Talamud. The abusers within these sects are using authority gifted to them by their respective hierarchies to perpetrate their actions but are acting outside of dogma.

Not so the Islamists. A cursory read of texts from the Quran shows that Muslims are expected to violate little girls under the excuse of marriage. According to their scriptures they are not culpable if they rape infidel women & girls. If they sodomise goats all is well so long as the animal is slaughtered.

As you know I consider all religion to be an abomination but to me this is an important distinction. Your thoughts?

I’m not sure things are quite that clear cut, nasska. England raised the age of consent to 13 in 1875, and I don’t think that had anything to do with Islam. The Old Testament sanctioned rape of much younger girls than that.
I think you will have to accept that the age of consent is determined culturally rather than religiously.

Have a read of the bible and see what is sanctioned. Gods words are clear. If you want to take a literal reading of any Abrahamic text you will see bugger all difference. The Christian God demanded the mass rapist of little virgin girls.

There was a world and complex societies well before Abrahmic religions. Women were often treated terribly by today’s standards, but it was not today. In very poor countries it still happens NOW.

Kea, the connection between Jews and Socialism is not that surprising given the way they were treated that included persecution , forced to live in ghettoes and prohibited from employment in the civil service as well as the professions like law . Their treatment in Imperial Russia was especially harsh so it’s small wonder many joined socialist and progressive causes that promised them freedom from persecution .

Paradoxically because of these medieval based restrictions many a Jews developed a prowess with Banking and money lending as it was about the only legal occupation they could participate in.

As I previously pointed out to you a great many gentiles also participated and founded various socialist organisations and movements. A reminder too that Karl Marx’s main and very important collaborator , Frederich Engels was Protestant by birth and upbringing !

I condemn all child abuse, regardless of who is doing it. The problem is that you are trying to claim equivalency where there is none. Pedophilia is not widespread among Jews. It is among Muslims.

Like your attempt to claim equivalency by citing one terrorist attack by Jews in 1946, it does not compare to the tens of thousands of terrorist attacks by Muslims.

You can find examples of pedophilia in any society or group. But in the Islamic world, the number is legion.

This is a funny thread today.

The business about when men can begin to have sex with what we now call girls, but way back, women, is culturally determined and is no reflection on the men of the time.

It was just the accepted paradigm, and no doubt good men had sex with very young females.

Not so long ago, what were then called Negroes were summarily, and extrajudicially hung in the Southern States of that great leader of the free world, the US, just for being Negroes.

In New Zealand, we may have pioneered universal suffrage, but we men could still, and did, insist, with force if necessary, upon our conjugal rights until some time into the 1970s without fear of legal consequences.

My point being, most of the mud thrown at Islam applies equally to other religions, and probably doubly to Christianity.

And generally, it’s almost always better to be a man…

A lie. Negros were a valuable commodity and essential to the success of horticulture. It would be like a farmer killing his tractor. They did not get hung just for being Negros. They were valuable livestock.
