Penny, Jane Kelsey, and Lori Wallach were sitting on a park bench in Albert Park talking amongst themselves about their upcoming TPP meeting, when a flasher came by.

The flasher stood right in front of them and opened his trench coat.

Well, Penny had a stroke.

Then, Jane had a stroke.

Lori had arthritis and couldn’t reach that far.

That’s extraordinary.

A room-for-rent advertisement in Wellington that specified ‘no heterosexuals’ has been criticised by the Human Rights Commission.

The advertisement, which was listed on Trade Me on Thursday, included the line: “We don’t want to live with a couple, a heterosexual person, or someone who is loud at night, or drinks/does drugs/party[s] a lot.”
…
It was for a four-bedroom house in the suburb of Newtown, which the existing flatmates described as a “queer, transgender, vegetarian household”.

They described themselves as two “feminist/politically switched on adults” and went to say they also did not want to live with anyone who is “racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, fatphobic [sic], hates sex workers, hates migrants or is otherwise a jerk”.

“We want to live with someone who is relaxed, motivated, grown up, reliable, considerate, child friendly, LGBTQIA+ [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex or asexual], pays the board on time with no stress, [is] vegetarian or vegan.”

Geez, that narrows down the field!

Funnily enough, Nasska, I was just wondering what it’d be like to work with these “feminist/politically switched on adults”. I wonder if Mikenmild has come across these sorts of people in the public sector – because, heaven forbid, I wouldn’t have thought they’d last long in the private sector.

There was a time long ago when we had places called ‘asylums’. From memory, some of the bigger ones went by the names of (south to north): Seacliff, Porirua, Lake Alice, Kingseat.
For better or worse, those places no longer exist, but those who would formerly inhabit them are unfortunately now living in our midst.

I must have missed those comments when I scrolled through the thread. I assume they fall into the “Hidden due to low comment rating” category – in which case, well, a significant proportion of Kiwiblog readers have judged that the comments weren’t worth reading and downvoted them.

As bewildering as this decision may be Chuck, you do yourself no favours by publicly accusing a judge of being corrupt. And even worse; you expose DPF to potential litigation as a co-defendent in a defamation action by making such an allegation here.

By all means make the accusation in your own forum, but it is very poor form to expose DPF to the risk of a lawsuit.

DG, I knew the cunt before he became a judge. He was well up Auckland Snible Liberties.
As you know I have no time for paedophiles or their enablers.
Could I get charged with contempt of court for calling this judge a cunt.
We need judicial accountability and recall.

As Keeping Stock says, by all means disagree with the decision, but you should do so without exposing DPF to litigation as an online content host.

Donald Trump sat in the fifth row when the Rev Pamela Saturnia spoke of exiles from Syria and Mexican immigrants. Have to hand to the guy, fifth row – given the opportunity to later rethink his position on both topics and more firmly line up with the Iowa religious vote who watched him come to church and listen to a sermon. Trump is able to win on both a winning and losing bet, that takes some doing. Next time he’ll be at the front and voters will love him for that.
