While disregarding the irony of an anonymous internet troll invoking the c-word, I would point out that referring to a public figure taking an unpopular stance on a crucial matter of huge public importance as cowardly is infantile, puerile and possibly deranged.

Corbyn is taking on the infrastructure of thought upon which our deeply flawed western societies are founded: neoliberalism and neoimperialism. As such, he is incurring the wrath of not only the richest, who desperately want to not only entrench (one could argue that is now a fair accompli)but to extend their wealth and power, and also the industrial-military fraternities that depend on continual war to advance their own interests and world views.

The thing is that on an empirical evidentiary basis, Corbyn is largely correct. The basis of his pronouncements a sincere, lifelong conviction that war is always a humanitarian disaster, and should always be a last resort, and that economics serves society (ie people), not the reverse.

For example, I have been banging on on here recently that bombs are counterproductive as a response to ISIS. Listen to this mornings interview of Scott Atran by Wallace Chapman where the ISIS manual is again mentioned. The point is that our knee jerk response is enabling, not degrading, ISIS.

On economics, he rightly makes the point that the monetary system can legitimately be utilised to build public services rather than just super-enriching a tiny class of the most venal in society. For example, this government’s slow strangulation of the public service and public services in the name of tax cuts for the rich has no evidentiary support for superior aggregate outcomes in economic literature (big government actually works, believe it or not) and in fact is largely a negative force on the vast majority.

But our power brokers spend a lot of time and money making the Mathew Hootens of this world rich with the aim of misinforming and impoverishing as many people as they can. And I mean impoverishment in the widest sense.

Of course, that’s why so many resources are now devoted to bringing Corbyn down. It’s all a matter of rational self-interest, dear boy.

Say, try doing something really hard, Manolo: thinking.

It took much longer to place Legio simply in so far as I’ve never come across someone with the views he had when he first came on the blog. I knew he was a piss take as for someone so militant, his views were underpinned by no logical consistency – he was all over the show with his views

 You have protested rates payment for years, because you object to Council’s lack of transparency and a failure to tell you precisely how your rates are spent, but the exact detail you require before you will agree to pay your rates has never been defined precisely.

You relatively recently, end of 2014, found Local Government Law that indicated some of this information should appear on your rates demand and invoice, but as it is open to interpretation, it is understood you await a court decision on the specifics of that law and whether Council has complied with it.

Meanwhile in this venue of kiwiblog you have often called for transparency and demanded details be published on Council websites of all Contracts – contractor, contractee, amount and durations – but also indicated you will be happy with nothing less than a register of all contractors and contractees and their pecuniary interests, so you can sift through them for supposed conflicts of interest.   Please inform us, as other ratepayers who subsidize your use of footpaths, roads and transport, amongst other facilities you avail yourself of, what is the full exact information you require to allow you to pay your rates?

A simple question for an aspiring Mayoral candidate.

I doubt your advocacy would have made even the slightest difference Penelope. As for my contribution, I am not playing your pissing up the wall game. You asked me a question and I answered it. If you don’t like the answer, tough. That’s what you get when your ego exceeds your competency. I could probably name countless areas where I have made contributions and you havent even opened the door. Unlike you, I do not seem to need to make a song and dance of it.

Let me remind you: you are the one banging on about transparency all tHe time: you are the one standing for office; you are the one actively campaigning on this blog (free of charge I might emphasise) and you are the one who refuses to be transparent and accountable– even in the face of prima facie evidence that you mislead the court. Don’t you think your potential constituency is entitled to some insight into your ethics?

In Britain the Muslims are really the enemy within the gates. How many Muslims can they allow in the country before it becomes Londonistan or else there is a civil war?

A global ad campaign to out animal cruelty on New Zealand farms has been called an attack on the country’s dairy-based economy.

Animal welfare group SAFE has run a graphic ad in British paper The Guardian shaming New Zealand’s dairy industry for its treatment of calves.

The advertisement ran in the Saturday edition of the paper under the header “New Zealand dairy contaminated with cruelty” and was part of a $10,000-plus advertising campaign that included the one-off print ad and two weeks of online advertising.

SAFE executive director Hans Kriek said the group “learned from the past” that the Government and farming industry were slow to act when animal cruelty was exposed.

“I think we’ve made the point that we can reach an international audience, that we can get people concerned enough to speak out…and I’m sure the international markets will have something to say about this as well.”

When it comes to the ISIS I’d make a poor peacenik but bombing the area into small pieces is useless without ‘on the ground’ followup. Bombing is a very effective way of destroying infrastructure but it isn’t precise enough to take out significant numbers of combatants who will use civilians as cover.

Even if the country is reduced to gravel it’s not going to take out the hard core Islamists.

My solution is go after the money . Stop the supply of food and arms by closing the boarders .
Isolate them economically and make sure the civilian population knows that their shit lives are because of ISIS.
Continue the drone strikes on key people and infrastructure .

Bombing the hell out of civilians will not work to do any thing but increase the Hate and encourage the hate for the west to spread in the Muslim world .
Disproportional reactions is what ISIS wants us to do because they will use the resulting mayhem against us .

I suspect that Marc Spring tried to manufacture “evidence” by writing a comment at YourNZ linking himself and the Giltrap group. However the comment was made from a internet address that was at Marc Spring’s workplace. Which is what this post is about.

I also suspect that Marc Spring lied capriciously on his affidavit to get this court order. It appears that he presented this as a sworn statement in front of a judge. If I am correct that has a certain number of very painful consequences for him.

On Monday, I will find out what Giltrap has to say about their part in this, and find out what information is available at the court. It will be interesting to find out all of the details.

Something tells me that things are about to get very interesting.

Why do you think Russia was bombing the living pipeline and the refineries Griff?

And why do you think as soon as it started doing that the West decided it had better start obfuscating the situation so as to secure the route through Northern Iraq, or even better provoke a Russian shootdown of one of its own planes?

Seriously, the minute one understands the West is and always has been behind ISIS and Russia has been fighting it, everything falls into place.

Unless and until you do that, nothing does.

I clicked on the link expecting to read a story about cricket players who went on an intrepid journey to an exotic place called “Georgie Pie Super Smash”, became lost, but thankfully were found. Hooray – the players have been found so the final can go ahead!

Oh, actually, it turned out that the story was considerably less interesting: the word “found” should have been replaced with something like “determined”.

National MP Judith Collins gave a wide-ranging speech about the Auckland Council to an Act regional conference yesterday, which is bound to renew speculation she is considering standing for the Auckland mayoralty.

However she also appeared to make a pitch for Chamber of Commerce head Michael Barnett, whose name has also been associated with a mayoral run.

“Auckland desperately needs a leader, someone who can articulate their plan, implement it and be accountable for it,” she said.

She applauded the fact that Mr Barnett had repeatedly called for a transparent line-by-line review of council costs and planned capital expenditure.

“He is absolutely right…taxpayers deserve to know what public money is being spent cost effectively and efficiently…

“As a ratepayer, I just hope that we end up with a financially literate, decisive mayor who can work with central government and not someone who thinks that being Mayor of Auckland is all about themselves,” she said in the speech which was distributed by her press secretary. ….”

So – if that’s the case – do both Judith Collins and Michael Barnett support my stand against Auckland Council not telling citizens and ratepayers EXACTLY where public rates monies are being spent?

What exactly have Judith Collins and Michael Barnett done to help ensure ‘open, transparent and democratically accountable’ local government in Auckland ?

Do you think that lying to the court is corrupt?
Do you think that wasting thousands of dollars and time in multiple court cases based on lies and misdirection of someone who is a serial litigator is a good thing for the council to have to spend money on?
Do you think that someone who doesn’t pay rates should have a say in what others monies are spent on?
Do you think that someone who is always bleating about transparency should her self be transparent?
Have you ever apologized for all the bullshite you said about John banks now he has been exonerated by the courts?

Tauhei Knotts, if our dairy industry has the worlds best animal husbandry practice then public debate on this is good for it.

Generally we do OK in comparison to competitors, such as grass fed to grain fed (a lower productive footprint – offset by risk to our domestic waterways with the runoff of added nitrogen).

The problem is that most people do not think of the details of the industry when they drink milk, consume yoghurt/cheese – that the cows breed each year then their calves die so that we can consume the milk. They get that in the case of meat, but less so for dairy.

Then you have a non divided group.
With their traditional drive, and the resentment at being the subject of an attempted extermination, they will be a group to be reckoned with.
