Ted Cruz has an audiographic memory. He is, by far, the smartest guy running for president. It’s good to see his campaign is finally picking up some speed, he has been steady at 7% for months.

Too bad it is looking like Trump is going to win. That guy is funny, but has absolutely nothing on Cruz.

The only Republican presidential candidate who does not immediately seem borderline insane when pontificating on policy is John Kasich – although I haven’t seen much of him yet, so I won’t hold my breath.

Cruz is a good intelligent candidate and has a lot of attributes that would make an excellent president. He is not afraid to ham it up with real people and he can carry it off, as can Trump.

Trump is smart, proven in the big business arena, decisive, funds his own campaign and is not beholding to a lobby group. That background and his general vision for turning America around will win him the nomination. Despite all the KB experts claiming Bush has already been given the nod it would be a very brave GOP chairman that would bypass Trump for Bush or Cruz.

If merit, vision and passion for America are the key to the presidency then Trump has it in the bag. The US is not going to settle for another dropkick. The people have had enough of politician presidents.

It pisses me off that we have PC drones as prime minister candidates in NZ. Where are the strong outspoken candidates with passion for NZ?

I believe Trump will get the GOP leadership, then he will pick Cruz as his running mate against Hillary.

Nice effort in breaking the image of smart but unlikeable. We’ll see if he can do anything else on that front to beat out Rubio.

Yaaaaaawn!

Looks like seven years of Smart Power – courtesy of the Smartest President Evah, have cured most leftists of trying to pull the old “the GOP candidate sure is stupid” trick. Of those who extolled the current POTUS imbecile just a few years ago – even the ones who still thrilled to his siren song in 2012 – almost all have slunk away from Kiwiblog in shame. But there’s always a new one on the block.

Unfortunately blazeoflight has not extended beyond the same old boring cliches of the last 60 years of attacks on Republicans, so it’s possible that it’s just stupid, rather than troll level. I’m not expecting Grand-Master Troll levels, but I’d hoped for Tom Jackson levels at least. Maybe it is Tom jackson, returned from the grave in which his Key Derangement Syndrome interred him in 2014, although blaze is too wordy and Tom Barker‘s style is more reminiscent.

It’s also going to be playing to a tougher and more media-savvy set of GOP candidates, as Mr Cruz himself has exemplified:

The media always wants to paint Republicans as either stupid or evil.

And I guess for me I’m somewhat encouraged they invented a third category for me which is ‘crazy’”

Meanwhile, Mr I-Love-Big-Government Kasich has pulled the clunkiest ever stunt to appeal to Christian Republicans, with his proposal to combat Islamic Jihadism by creating a new government agency to push Judeo-Christian values around the world.

Chuckle. Somebody needs to read this tiresome little man up on the US Constitution and the separation of church and state.

Seems Trump and Ted are on to a winning strategy.

tom hunter 6:31 pm. Hi, Tom. President Trump, and Vice President Cruz would be just fine. A good VP has an important role in the Senate. Cruz is familiar with it already. Cruz, and Speaker Ryan have an important job to do in the next administration. They need to work together to get some changes through, and thwart the GOPe. Ben Carson would be great in HEW. Just watch the usual suspects scream like stuck mega-pigs if that happened. He’d change the emphasis from poor me; to I can do it. The Obama administration wants HEW’s ‘clients’ to stay on the Democratic plantation, and remember to vote in exchange for all those lovely food stamps. If any of these elected Democrats were telling the truth; it’d sound like this: “I have nothing to offer you but dependence, drugs, and misery.”
