Get well soon Murray
Stuff reports:
Prime Minister John Key has stepped into the Foreign Affairs portfolio after a health scare for veteran minister Murray McCully.
McCully’s office announced in a statement on Wednesday the Minister of Foreign Affairs would be taking leave following surgery last week.
It said he was recuperating in Auckland and expected to make a full recovery.
Responsibility for the Foreign Affairs portfolio had been transferred to Key in the interim “to allow Minister McCully to focus on his recovery”.
McCully is understood to have required major surgery to remove a tumour. He has been given the all clear by doctors after it was found to be benign, but has been told long haul international travel is out of the question for several weeks while he recuperates.
It is not often the words benign and McCully appear in the same story 🙂
