The Al-Nusra Front, Al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria, has released a grateful video, where they openly thank the Free Syrian Army (FSA), which the US has touted as a “moderate opposition group”, for supplying them with US-made anti-tank TOW missiles (“Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wire-guided”).

A recently released video shows an Al-Nusra Front field commander thanking the FSA commanders for giving his forces TOW missiles, according to a report released by the Iranian news agency FARS.

The agency reminds readers that the two groups, the Al-Nusra and the FSA, formed an alliance in March, the Army of Conquest, or Jaish al-Fatah in Arabic, to fight against the forces of President Assad.

Since then, they have fought together “at almost every single battle in Aleppo, Lattakia, Hama, and Idlib Governorates of Syria.”

Through this alliance several militant groups like the Al-Nusra Front and the Ahrar al-Sham movement have been given access to FSA’s US-made heavy weaponry, which has been supplied to the militant group by the US, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

According to the agency’s estimates, Saudi Arabia sent 500 TOW missiles to Al-Nusra directly last month…

…Obviously, this is the very definition of absurdity. It would be bad enough if the US were supplying TOWs to anyone in Syria. But this is Washington and Riyadh handing anti-tank missiles to forces that are firing them at the Iranians who are operating under cover of Russian airstrikes. Just to drive that home: the US is waging war against Iran and Russia with but one degree of separation.

That’s the big picture.

But as mentioned above, this is also ridiculous because The Pentagon is killing the same people in Syria that the US-trained Iraqi army depends on to rout ISIS across the border in Iraq. And when we say “the same people”, we mean the exact same Shiite militias. Every Iran-backed militiaman that’s killed in Syria by a US-made weapon is one less militiaman that will return to Iraq to fight ISIS, which is of course fine with Saudi Arabia and Qatar because they’re opposed to Iranian influence in Baghdad in the first place.

Finally, the idea that the US is fighting al-Nusra in Syria is not only untrue, it’s actually the complete opposite of what’s really going on on the ground.

Hopefully no one from al-Qaeda ends up firing a TOW at a Paris cafe.

So let me get this straight, your “strict rule” of not engaging with me means…you continue engaging with me…even though your posts say you aren’t.

All very confusing, and I think I am on firm ground by saying I’m not the only one who is confused by what your “strict rule” means. “Let your ‘yes’ be ‘yes’, and your ‘no’ be ‘no'” (Matthew 5:37).

The posts I read by you seemed to indicate you felt you had a profound sense of superiority over Kimbo.

Perhaps his reaction was more based on a bit of indignation toward that attitude.

Kimbo seems to be able to offer fairly well reasoned and civil discussion with most people here, even earning a measure of respect among some of those more hostile to his world view.

Perhaps you should think more about what he is saying.

I’m a little confused. You talk about “murderous neocon bastards in Washington” in your 4:30pm comment, but in your 4:19 you post an article praising Russia for their indiscriminate bombing, while disparaging the US for dropping leaflets before bombing, and not dropping most of their bombs on their various targets. I would have thought with that therefore Russia’s actions are far more murderous than that of the US when I compare both of those comments of yours.

One thing I can think of is the Prosperity Gospel which I think is a dangerous and destructive distortion of Biblical teaching.

That’s why I’m asking you as to how you can reconcile the actions of the US and Russia, calling the more careful approach “murderous” while as the indiscriminate bombing of the Russians gets a free pass. In other words, I’m more interested in you than your sources right now.

Witness, the baaaing seems to be a reaction to the logical dismemberment of Reid’s sources and points of view over the last while. It’s been a gradual progression. As for Reid’s views on Jews, best not to go there.

Thanks, Shunda barunda, but not exactly. Shawn ultimately had that effect on me with his brazen and childish refusal to follow a simple courtesy, but my problem with Witness is a bit different.

I’m haven’t used the words “pious”, “sanctimonious”, “ignorant”, “ungrateful” and “hypocrisy” to describe his words lightly, even though some around here are interpreting them as personal attacks. I’ve encountered plenty of Calvinists who have also tried it on as a veneer to cover a lack of spiritual and mental substance. Witness’ cavalier dismissal of the fruits of biblical scholarship (and I explained clearly in detail why I considered it hypocritical, ungrateful and capriciously selective)…then bombarding us all with texts from Bibles the same scholars have worked hard to produce is not the sort of thing I tolerate.

And instead of taking the attitude that if he had examined himself he would have no need for others to examine his attitudes…his response was to take that as a personal attack…and ramp up the veneer of pious sanctimony to cover it. Stuff like (GD, November 23rd, 2015 at 6:38 pm),

..And when the theology falls over you use modernist Biblical “scholarship” to trump the authority of Scripture. And while I use modern translations when posting here, I use the KJV and the NKJV for study and devotions. Modern “scholarship” is heavily based on assumptions, assumptions we should question.

About Mark 16: 10-20?! I mean, come on! A host of “conservative” scholars will tell you…there is probably no way it is part of the original Gospel. But, yYeah, ok. Let’s just throw the Apochrypha and the Gospel of Thomas in as well, shall we, if we are going to ignore folks with clear expertise?

Thanks Lucia. I appreciate that. This is actually my first time on a secular blog. Until now I stuck to Christian ones, so it’s a bit of a learning experience. The tone here generally is very different. Now I have to run or I’m going to be late for work!

Apart from that I’m a curious guy, who, if I engage with you in what seems a contrary way is because I’m kicking the tyres to see what you come back with to see if there is any substance to your views. is how I like to challenge my prejudices.

The Russian campaign in Syria has been to rpovide air support to the Syrian Arab Army (you know the “boots on the ground” thing) as they retake territory in the hands of “rebel forces”

In Western spin these are the so called “moderate rebels” in fact they are Al Nusra and ISIS recognized terrorist oragnizations.

Since Paris and the G20 where VVP openly accused some G20 members of funding ISIS Russia has escalated, in particular taking out convoys of oil tankers, leading toi the question as to why the USA and its coalition who have been illegally bombing in Syria for over a year have not done this

So now the USA has started attacking these convoys too and in a moment of sheer hilarity Russin video of such an attack was presented to the gulliable American public as an American attack.

The sad reality is that though the USA has said it is fighting ISIS in Syria it actually has been fighting the legitimate Syrian Government in violation of international law and norms and they are pissed that they have been exposed and even more pissed that they cannot replace Assad with a quizling who will betray own his people for power.

What’s happening right now in reality is the UKUSI (UKUSA + Israel) are using Paris to engender fear in the sheeple so as to give Nato an excuse to support ~~“the moderate terrorists”~~ ISIS to reinstate the murderous bastard neocon plan to extinguish Assad. The thing is, you don’t what would have happened had America not acted. Saddam was training thousands of terrorists before he was taken out. The beginnings of ISIS came from those trainers and trained. Assad is also playing the same game as Saddam and Russia.

Have you noticed that these refugees originate in places that have all been subject to aerial bombardments in the past few years?

No I don’t. But at a guess the beige badger almost always gets the wrong end of the stick and that’s fine. For example with his rape culture meme. However what’s not fine is he then gets on his high horse just like his hero and mentor Dunne. So not only is he wrong but he’s also self-righteous. Which also, I suspect with LA, would be fine too. But where he then crosses the line is that in his roaring galloping self-righteous mentalism (which is in fact, logic and all things Holy actually totally incorrect every whichway you can imagine), he then picks a personal target which in his insanity personifies his outrage over “x” and in his weak, pathetic and most importantly dishonest disengenuous proceeds to do his level best to take down his target, using whatever means at his disposal.

Report from Australia. A 10 month old baby has been left with life-threatening burns to half his body. The Sydney 23 year old Atea Te Pania, the mother’s boyfriend showed no remorse when he told police that he put the child in a shower, turned the hot water on and left him there while he went to charge his phone and have a cigarette. The baby also had several bruises on his head and body. Police said the injuries are significant.

The 23 year old has 10 convictions, many for violence over the past 5 years.

Yet another violent ex-kiwi to be sent back across the Tasman to reside in NZ once he has completed his prison sentence in Aus.

So Turbull gets up in the Australian Parliament to give his speech on Aussie policy re ISIL and the Middle East. According to a radio report he says something like ” ISIL is weak , they have more smart phones than they have guns” —if this report is correct then 2 points :

1. If they are so weak how come they are creating so much fear and havoc? How come the US has been bombing them for about a year and they are still there?

2. Isn’t saying something like that likely to provoke terrorists like ISIL — they’ll be saying ” we’ll show you who is weak “. There are plenty of Aussie’s who have gone to Europe to fight with them.
