I didn’t say it was a bomb. I didn’t say it resembled a bomb. It patently wasn’t a bomb. I said nothing about it being a bomb.

I said the school staff and the police overreacted. Which they obviously did.

As did the President of the United States when he invited the kid to the White House. As did all sorts of other do-gooders . . . a message of support from Hillary Clinton, an offer to stop by Facebook to meet Mark Zuckerberg and an invitation to be an intern at Twitter. Wow! They all wanted a piece of the action.

My point is that the kid did not make a clock. He didn’t come anywhere near to making a clock. He made nothing. He took the case off an old clock and pretended that what remained was his own invention.

Did I do that when I was a kid? Well, when I was a kid, clocks worked by clockwork. I pulled a few apart, sure, as well as a watch or two, to see how they worked. Didn’t pass them off as something I’d invented, though.

What my skill, or lack of skill, with electronics has to do with anything in this case is clearly beyond me.

With all the attention the kid was receiving — for instance being hailed as “the Muslim hero America has been waiting for” — it was only natural people would want to know more about him and his family. What they rapidly found was that he was a fantasist (nothing too much wrong with that in a 14-year-old) and that his father was a Muslim activist.

You say moderate Muslim activist. Maybe. Maybe not.

But there is nothing wrong with investigating further.

By the way, Griff, have you ever considered an anger management course? Might help.

It was first used for light. Even in NZ the grid was installed to provide light first.
In the back blocks of India solar power is already supplying cheap light and charging phones to connect to the world
The grid is expensive for a rural costumer it is already cheaper to generate your own power using solar than it is to hook up to the grid. The third world has bypassed copper phones lines and gone direct to cellular .They will do the same with electricity.
That is why one of the reasons why I consider you a proven coal fired idiot.

Sounds like the ACT Party? If so, then only a tiny minority of voters endorse these views.

The trouble with wanting “free markets” is that it doesn’t work when the other side won’t play ball. (The same applies to “tolerance” (a very Western construct).

As you know, you cannot have liberty (freedom) without morality (self-regulated responsibility). For a similar reason, democracy will fail if a population decides to vote themselves free stuff. (Hello Greece!)

This blog is a liberal blog hence its tolerance for those who are not and its transparent moderation policy’s unlike any other political blog in this country .
I might be silly due to their denial of climate change but….. I vote for New Zealand truly liberal party as the lest bad option available.

I believe that national has to much influence by religo conservatives in its back room power structures for me to support them.
Interesting the National party of New Zealand arose out of the meeting of a liberal party and a rural party .

nasska, while it is clear that the Jews who began the church were Sabbath day keepers themselves, Paul for one formed churches that gathered on Sundays (whereas churches consisting more of Jews alone remained Sabbath day keeping).

However, for me, it’s gotten to the point where refuting it serves very little purpose except to further inflame conversation. Anyone interested should google my name and this blog and whatever topic they’re interested in with regards to Catholicism. This is interesting. Guy pretends to be blind and walks round with a genuine winning $500 lottery ticket asking different people to confirm if he’s won the prize. Video shows a couple of well off people who pocket it and walk away and a couple of poor people who tell him the truth. Easy to fake and maybe it is, but does it ring true or not? Although we are fortunate enough to have a freezer full of homekill I keep a weather eye on supermarket prices for meat. Good scotch filet is about $35Kg & mince is about $8 on special. You’d need an overdraft to buy a leg of hogget.

By good fortune a web search has revealed a cheap alternative source of protein. At https://www.catholicsupply.com/churchs/wine.html you can buy bulk boxes each containing 1000 communion wafers for only $11.65US.

Give your your local Catholic priest a small backhander to bless them & your days of worrying about what to put on the barbeque are over. 🙂

I don’t think Jesus is a zombie. I doubt that there ever was such a person. Even if there was, he definitely was not divine; that is an impossibility.

And the real presence in the Eucharist is surely a cannibalistic rite.

The cat’s not happy. She’s already been molting and now it’s freezing again and too cold to go out. She’s alternating between destructo mode – ripping up the box that’s on the floor that carried last night’s takeaways home from the Chinese place, and looking interestingly outside – but running away whenever I open the door for her after she is hit by a blast of cold, damp air. And now the rain has started up again.

In the church ceremony it became a symbol of Christian faith in his resurrection into the kingdom of God – because of the association with the risen bread rather than the unleavened bread of the journey from Egypt to the earthbound covenant nation.

The disciple and the baptised of the faith were supposed to be Christ-like and also call God father. As if they were a creation of God – akin to a new Adam.

For example, the person might be presented as being fantastically brave, as knowing or being related to many famous people, or as having great power, position, or wealth.

What on earth was Cameron trying to achieve by placing his appendage in a dead pig’s orifice, and would this folly as a youth now distance him from the pork loathing Muslims? One would sincerely hope so, as Muslims of the desert much prefer any available orifice of a breathing compliant camel.

In the beginning Abel killed livestock and cooked them, and God was said to be more pleased with this than Cain using grain to make bread.

Then Cain supposedly killed Abel because of this. And received the mark of the (ruling king) beast.

Interpretation. Behind the veil of the myth of the religion.

Kings ruled over walled cities and had rule of the surrounding land on which grain was grown to feed the people under their reign, and kings had authority over the law which judged the lives of the people.

Kings sought to extend their rule to areas beyond the crop land to the area of more nomadic livestock farmers, who would sell their food to the city folk at a premium (living by bread alone was boring) but did not want to pay tax to the king. Not that the poor of the city could afford the meat that often, this was a staple of only the ruling elite – who claimed to rule over the poor on behalf of a god.

The poor on the earth could only imagine what the meat of the kings table tasted like compared to their bread.

Inandout, was it 1984 when Cameron boasted that he would one day be first amongst equals, by joining to the body of a pig? It would been his first year at Oxford in 1984.

Maybe a British mockery of the Skull and Bones practice of expecting college initiates to make sexual confessions while in a coffin – maybe Cameron was the only virgin amongst them and he did this to have something to confess?

Watch for Dotcom’s legal team asking for a stay in proceedings. I watched the news and saw a row of ‘lawyers’ how much does that cost for them just to sit there? I do not think that lack of available funds is the issue, despite that argument being used.
