For example:

Let’s be honest,” says Owen Jones in the Guardian today, “if social media were as politically invaluable as the left would like, Labour would now be in office with a majority of 150.”

Owen Jones is one of the few columnists the Guardian employs who is still worth listening to. But here I think he’s completely wrong. The reason Labour didn’t win the last general election has nothing to do with the power of social media and everything to do with the fact that Labour under Milliband was offering no real alternative. Diluted Blairism and pink-stained Toryism say nothing to people who know what’s needed is a wholesale change away from divisive unfairness, war and poverty toward inclusiveness, justice and peace. Why vote for Labour when they are indistinguishable from the Conservatives? Why bother voting at all when it’s a choice with no choice?

That’s why 44% of potential voters stayed home.

(And remember our antiquated voting system means we currently have an incumbent in No.10 put there by less than 25% of the electorate. So let’s not get too silly about the level of popular endorsement for Conservative policies.)

Owen’s message is that the MSM is still the vital arbiter of public opinion, and that Corbyn needs to win the press over if he is to have a chance of forming a serious opposition. But I think one of those claims is questionable and the other is palpably absurd.

The MSM campaign against Corbyn has made it clear – even to those who may still have doubted it – that it has no interest in fair hearings, democracy or the popular will. In fact, if nothing else, Corbyn’s election as Labour leader has succeeded in stripping away the last vestiges of decent concealment from the mainstream press and revealed it for what it is today – a brainless, braying mouthpiece built and maintained to help impose an increasingly grotesque system of mass poverty on an increasingly restive population.

Over the last thirty years,and without most of us noticing, our post-war consensus democracy, with its commitment to fairness, inclusiveness and caring for its disadvantaged, has been undergoing reconstruction into a neo-feudal society of 99% largely disempowered serfs ruled over by the 1% uber-class. This metamorphosis has had to be concealed from people’s awareness, and the mainstream media was also reconstructed – divested of its real journalists and much of its independence – in order to act as the PR team for this “new world order,” selling every creeping change, no matter how anti-democratic as “democracy”…

Anyone interested in politics who doesn’t understand media dynamics regardless of whether or not they approve of said dynamics, is a blind man in a dark room looking for a black cat that isn’t there…

Thanks Reid for the Albert Pike quote. The trouble people have is in connecting the dots so instead viewing history as a long interconnected chain of events, they see it as a series of independent incidents or at best a short term snippet whereas what we’re seeing now is the culmination of centuries of planning (Pike made prediction in 1871 for what the 3rd World War would look like ).

And of course the current refugee crisis in reality traces it’s origins back to that fateful day in September 2001 which the Neo-Cons used as a pre-text to invade Iraq (WTF??) and ramp up the “War on Terror” that began the dismantling of our civil liberties and begin a long running campaign to demonise Islam. They then started to ramp up immigration from Islamic countries, banning criticism through “hate speech”, encouraging separatism (aka multiculturalism) and doing nothing to stop the funding of radical Wahhabisim from Saudi Arabia). You couldn’t make it up!

Here is something I’ve lifted from Paul Craig Roberts which summarises the official version of events of 9/11. Once you see 9/11 for what it was, recent history makes much more sense as does Albert Pike’s prediction:

The Official Version of 9/11 goes something like this:

I appreciate that you’re analysing this through a geopolitics lens, Reid, but I don’t understand why Indonesian muslims would see us as a threat.

New Zealand is most unlike the boardgame Risk, in which you load up on troops in Australia and defend it to the hilt. We don’t have the ability to load up on troops, and we’re too small geographically to bother with. Surely, to Indonesian muslims, we’d be like a sleepy hollow with bad weather.

My current understanding of life which may change, is that life is a school. We are here for one thing and one thing only, to learn how to love.

Material things mean absolutely nothing since love can exist anywhere under any circumstance, and learning how to summon and emit love under the most trying conditions imaginable, is the human mission.

Material things get in the way by providing insulation against that. It’s like a sense of security that is false. It’s security, but it’s not, really, in actuality.

However the issue is not in the material thing itself, it’s just an object, but rather, in one’s emotional attachment to it. So one can be immensely wealthy, or immensely poor, and still have the same state of spiritual understanding.

Most of the issues in the world today can be traced to material shall we say, “confusion.”

Chasing after windmills. Things you think you want but which vanish.

Spiritual strength and wisdom is an increasingly rare commodity.

But its my chosen pursuit mm, and I view materialism as worthless by comparison.

Re the paid parental leave thingy, not sure it’s a good idea or in the best interests of women.

I have a friend who’s quite a high powered human resources manager and she says she finds it very hard not to discriminate against women of child bearing age for key appointments simply because they might fall pregnant and have to take extended leave. More paid parental leave will simply compound this discrimination.

Not saying this is an ideal situation but this world is real, not ideal.

A perfect demonstration of that today.

The government want to manage acceptance of the Silver Fern Farm buy in by blocking the sale of Lochinver. The owner is upset because now they cannot get the top price from selling offshore – and Mike Hosking is upset on behalf of all other asset owners who are at risk of possibly not getting the full price for their own property asset by selling to offshore buyers (however much he tries to pretend he objects to the “racism” of blocking sales to foreigners). The racist line – used by the local asset owning elite is in support of the global reach for those with the power of capital.

Can you be blonde, blue-eyed, and white skinned and be Maori too? This question will arise more often as intermarriage continues in NZ.

Leftist, unionist writer Morgan Godfery in the Hooerald criticises Immigration Minister Michael Woodhouse for his riposte in the House of Repesentatives to Green MP Denise Roche, including a statement that Roche is carrying “paternalistic, colonialist, white person’s guilt”.

Godfery more or less sneeringly says that Roche is a Maori. A picture on the web site of Roche shows what is apparently a very white woman: blonde, blue-eyed and pale skinned. Her video tube at the Green Party site shows Roche, herself a union organiser, has a typical Pakeha accent.

In her maiden speech to Parliament, she did speak partly in Maori, and said in English, “I am not the first woman of Maori descent to come to this house from the glorious motu of Waiheke.”

She may have Maori genes, but unless the pictures of her are false, Roche is also a white woman. This doesn’t matter, except when someone like Godfery tries to score points from someone who has called Roche white.

Godfery is described at the foot of his Hooerald rave as specialising in Maori politics and indigenous issues. If he’s going to depend on blood lines rather than appearance, Godfrey could be going down a dangerous path.

Look at the picture and make up your own mind ….
