Indeed they are EAD.

Metal up everyone. It’s cash or metal and cash could tank. Nothing else is going to do. And don’t settle for certificates, they won’t be worth anything.

The landlord is not required to have smoke alarms now, by next year they will have to. But tenants will be the ones responsible for the batteries and their replacement.

Reid, the Chinese government has not run its domestic banking system well. First the speculation in property and now that on the stockmarket. They should be flowing the funds into start-ups and business expansion going upmarket from their low cost production origin.

I know the likes of MM will dismiss this link as it from a “conspiracy website” but this article from November 2013 which was what made me load up on Chinese equities at the time as the shear scale of money printing was only going to put a huge rocket under equity prices:

Quite agree SPC. They have tremendous unrealised liabilities due to all sorts of structural problems. Question is: what does this mean in modern day China as of now and how is that going to affect the wider world and us in particular.

Reid, it means China’s heading for the mediocre outcome that their management deserves.

On us little impact, no great influence on wages or the dairy market supply or demand balance. It may depend where their money goes, if they stop with the internal bubbles.

Ah but they have the geopolitics on their side. They have the consumers. Russia has the resources. The US and the EU have foolishly driven each of them into each other’s arms. And the rest will be history.

They have already stolen all the IP they need from us thanks to the incredibly short-sighted and foolish off-shoring policies since the 90’s. This has given the Chinese, who don’t respect IP, all the IP they need to jump-start them into the 21st century in all kinds of areas. What has taken we in the West a century or more to nurture and refine and polish and improve and create, has been given away for nothing in a heartbeat by foolish managers and shareholders who have been rewarded with million dollar salaries for so doing.

Correct me where I’m wrong.

I too believed in the “Chinese Miracle” but upon visiting and talking to people there who know what they’re talking about, I quickly realised was all smoke and mirrors – another version, only bigger of the Japanese “boom” of the 1980’s.

They build ghost cities to give a restless population jobs and to provide good headline growth figures. Sooooo much hot borrowed money has gone in there (as well as gifted Western technology) that a relentless, self feeding boom was always going to happen.

A boom based on credit expansion and Communist central planning was never going to work. But it’s amazing how many people will turn a blind eye to reality if they truly want to believe a story.

But don’t worry about the Chinese in the long run, unlike many in the West, they know what real wealth is.:

Reid, China Inc has done very well at gathering wealth, and developing a place in the world market, but it has also been very wasteful with that wealth and some of their spending – not just with their misallocation of finance into speculation. And they have yet to get wage earners to a high standard of living so as to be consumers of their own products.

Thus a mediocre outcome so far.

Interestingly however those ghost cities will become incredibly useful if Fukushima keeps going the way it has and they have to evacuate Southern Japan. Which sounds crazy but only because the MSM hasn’t been covering what’s been going on there. Have a look at it and there is no solution and they can’t stop it.

SPC I don’t agree with your pessimistic analysis. I see China having progressed its citizens up the living standard chain tremendously. A massive country equals massive problems along the way, but by and large, comparing to say, Mao’s time, things are changing for the people and changing fast. Add in Chinese perspective in that their lifetimes aren’t so important as the next and the one after that also. And I don’t think they’re doing so bad. It’s not what we’d like, but we’re not Chinese.

Many people care about where Murdoch got his finances from Captain Bananas. The reason is, this explains his orientations and his loyalties over the decades. It’s quite a simple point. I’m surprised it’s clearly completely escaped you. Or am I?
