The part that gets me Shawn is how you both pray for each other. The difference in attitude you buggers must conjure up on the way between the computer & knees down beside the bed for your nightly chats with Huey is beyond my comprehension. 🙂

The idea of a man of rank – such as son created by a God (a term associated with thrones of the king agency of a god), marrying a woman of lower rank (such as the daughter of a man), is one of fall to a lower status for the children of the union.

Those not having a throne to inherit (associated with walled garden/enclosure areas) have to work for a living – tilling the earth or managing flocks. For they are the sons of a man who did not reign.

Of course the revenge of the family is not to believe in the gods of the thrones of the earth and instead believe in a Creator God of a throne in heaven – maybe one reserved for one of their people.

To me God is wise enough to sort it all out in the wash.

Contrary to what he thinks I don’t hate Reid. The strongest emotion I can muster up where he is concerned is sadness and pity.

I certainly hate what he peddles here.

I would never pray like that, as it would be profoundly arrogant. When I do pray for someone I am in conflict with, I just ask God to bless them and leave it at that.

I am too aware of my own fallibility to start telling God that I am right and someone else is wrong.

We don’t live in an ideal world and havent since England lost India and warmongers decided to arm the middle east. The cold war. East and west Germany. ABS, the American government has been acting illegally.

A former President George W Bush asked the FBI to act illegally. They did so – heard of the Nuremburg trials – premise those obeying illegal orders were criminals.

Is it treason to reveal that the American government was acting illegally or to carry out illegal orders?

If the former, then the requirement of government employees to keep government secrets becomes a conspiracy to cover up illegal activity by government.

Griff. All_on_Red is the epitome of motivated reasoning. He was explaining to me recently there should be no tax on capital gains because (rental) houses were bought with tax-paid money, so it would be “double taxation”.

The argument is nonsense because money you earn has already had tax paid on it by someone – assuming he didn’t create it. Worse, the houses are paid for with borrowed money and the cost is tax-deductible.

But it’s not the money you pay tax on, it’s the earning or gaining of it. Imagine a situation where you paid tax on the money you started with and all the money you made from that you paid no tax on … no tax on bank interest, no tax on buying and selling commercially, or any business profits …

I am ridiculed for repeating it but I will again. We have increased CO2 from 270 to 400ppm, a 40% increase in an important greenhouse gas. There is a prima facie case Earth retains more energy and we know it is this energy that drives the climate. If the energy changes one would expect the climate to change.

Ignore it or deny it: that is the difference between pragmatism and stupidity.

On Tax. The money we earn as personal income, we pay tax on. Not “someone” else. Only interest is tax deductible not the principle. If you sell the house, then you have to pay the Depreciation recovered which applies if you are claiming the interest.

At least myself and others link to the actual source, whether that’s the organisation who did the data or where a Paper was published. I think it’s pretty clear you have mental health issues. All_on_Red. Okay, so some money is printed, someone earns it, pays tax on it, then it’s destroyed? No, someone else earns it, and pays tax on it. Right? Double taxation! It’s the same money.

Anyway, most of the money people to buy houses has not been earned by them, they haven’t paid tax on it. Yet they reap a huge capital gain, on which they pay no tax. Normally.

And if they were to pay tax on it, as they do in pretty much all advanced countries, it would be, according to you, double taxation.

No wonder you’re out of your depth on complex issues like greenhouse effect and climate change.
