While Penny is in Wellington Auckland Council have used a case from 1881 to challenge her over the non-payment of rates.
It seems to be stretching it to have to refer to an 1881 case.
Maybe our rating Act needs updating?

I’ve had a nagging feeling over the last couple of days, while scrolling through/past the drivel posted by this hilarious character UglyTruth, that I’ve heard something similar from 25-odd years and another career ago.

We had a customer who wrote endless letters to management complaining about such things as having to provide ID – can’t recall the details but they were along the lines of “I’m a real person” and therefore don’t need ID of any sort, something like that. Every single contact with that particular muppet ended up with rambling screeds referring us to all sorts of whacky books & texts. Blacks perhaps?

We had great fun reading his letters over a couple of beers on a Friday night – complete nutbar. I think in the end he just got told to sod off – he couldn’t seem to grasp the idea that no-one was forcing him to use our services. We did wonder if he was dangerous or just slightly mad.

Are you from Dunedin UT? Close rellies there perchance? Or just a coincidence that you use the same phrases and seem just as delusional? Oh wait – there’s no such thing as a coincidence is there? Must be a conspiracy then. All good.

Today’s decision about banning phosphate mining 550 km towards Chile, from Wellington is a huge worry.
Decisions such as this can have serious downstream consequences.
Would anybody here want to invest in a company that is spending big money on the full prospectus for mining within 800 km of New Zealand? No way!
And my country is the loser from all of that.

Thanks for that. Yes it is hard to see what the goal of the news maths is. Get kids and teachers completely confused about which strategy should be used? Check. Get kids to spend heaps of time learning silly little tricks that can’t be scaled to bigger problems, but allow them to work out 11 times 11 almost as fast as a cheap calculater? Check. Any greater understanding of maths itself? Nope, doesn’t seem to be.

And then the universities have to do catch up classes so they come up to something like the old UE.

But, at least the kids don’t have to do any evil rote learning so they can do up to their ten times table in their heads by the age of 6. Nah much better to confuse them trying to cover the same ground at age ten.

If I was a conspiracy theorist I might be wondering if it was part of a cunning left-wing plan to dumb down the population. Nah, that wouldn’t be it.
