Just a word on ‘Redneck’ and the derivation of the term.

Whilst noting the derivational sources that have been indicated by other posters, I still tend to adhere to my understanding that the term ‘redneck’ referred to the actual physical red neck to be observed on those ‘poor-whites’ who laboured agriculturally under the Southern sun.

That their political opinions and allegiencies were – in some people’s terminology – reactionary and counter to the ‘enlightened’ (!!) opinions of the chattering classes co-incided with the image of a hard-working and humble lifestyle of which a ‘red neck’ was an occupational and status indicator.

Just back from a 5 hour drive cross country. Only spotted one Highway Patrol… White commodore mufti……who had pulled over a motorist in an open stretch of road with bugger all vehicles about. Easy pickings.

Someone finally said it.
But how many are actually paying attention to this?

And then there are just Americans…
You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction.

You call me ‘White boy’, ‘Cracker’, ‘Honkey’, ‘Whitey’, ‘Caveman’…
And that’s OK…
But when I call you Nigger, Kike,
Towel head, Sand-nigger, Camel Jockey, Beaner, Gook, or Chink…
You call me a racist.

You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you…
So why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live in?

You have the United Negro College Fund.
You have Martin Luther King Day.
You have Black History Month.
You have Cesar Chavez Day.
You have Yom Hashoah.
You have Ma’uled Al-Nabi.
You have the NAACP.
You have BET…

Imagine if we had WET
(White Entertainment Television)…
We’d be racists.

If we had a White Pride Day,
You would call us racists.

If we had White History Month,
We’d be racists.

If we had any organization for whites only to ‘advance’ OUR lives,
We’d be racists.

We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce,
And then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce.
Wonder who pays for that???

A white woman could not be in the
Miss Black American pageant,
But any color can be in the Miss America pageant.

If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships…
You know we’d be racists.

There are over 60 openly proclaimed
Black Colleges in the US …
Yet if there were ‘White colleges’,
That would be a racist college.

In the Million Men March,
You believed that you were marching for your race and rights.
If we marched for our race and rights,
You would call us racists.

You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange,
And you’re not afraid to announce it.
But when we announce our white pride,
You call us racists.

You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us.
But,
When a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.

I am proud…
But you call me a racist.

Why is it that only whites can be racists???

There is nothing improper

I was a young news photographer when the Hutt teens were having their fun and was sent in the firm’s van to get a photo of the school. Unfortunately in my innocent naivety I parked the van just outside the school gates while I took my shot. I had not got back to base before somebody from the school was inquiring what and why and suggesting it would be unwise for the firm to supply my shot to the Australian paper who had asked for it.

I also remember the Hume case as my job was to go to the Chief Post Office and collect a ‘wire picture’, make a copy back at base and then supply a copy to the Evening Post ….

Memories awakened 🙂

FC that was the exact same question stupidboy asked, and I won’t be answering it because I explained what the point of that was last night and if you want to know then you should read yesterday’s GD. BTW it wasn’t false. Stalin was a Jew, so was Lenin, and 97%+ of the central committee were also Jews. But I’m not going to discuss that because it wasn’t the point I was making and I don’t care about it. If you do, follow my suggestion below.

As for your other three questions again the same response applies to that which I gave stupidboy. Look it up for yourself. Why do you expect me to explain basic history to you?

Thanks for the suggestions, I might look later. Though, I find this sort of thing that I read this afternoon, far more interesting: Putin’s Espionage Offensive Against France

Anyway, we’re about to have a BBQ, and it seems just about everyone else around here has had the same idea, for the supermarket was very low on variety when it comes to BBQ meat choices. Very few sausages, totally out of marinated lamb chops, no chicken tenders. So, we’re going to try marinated chicken drumsticks, along with steak and some of the sausages I did manage to get.

I made that because I hadn’t read your second para of your post to which I was responding, where I found you had addressed the point I was raising. I am sorry, I was wrong to make that allegation and it’s my fault for not reading it. I don’t agree with your take on why that history has not been covered, but I should have read your full response and not rudely and curtly dismissed it as I did.

Most of the rednecks I’ve met aren’t particularly racist, but they do like their guns and their pickups and their barbecue and their beer. They’re generally pretty wonderful people to hang out with, and smarter than your average New Zealander.

WhaleOil is just embarrassing now. Most of the stuff published there is fluff and crap. The real meat is in the politics, that 10% that still makes it worth visiting. But I no longer read the comments – just a whole bunch of people agreeing with whatever Slater and his sycophants spew up. I don’t want that in a blog, I want to read passionate arguments where people can say fuck if they want to, and I want to be able to say fuck if I want to. And yes, they banned me, I don’t care, and I’m not bothered if they ever let me back. I’ll just come here and call them wankers instead, and hopefully everyone’s happy about that.

Longknives, I have just read that article and fail to see what Stuff were trying to achieve, except to show that the PM is able to speak on many topics.

Stating that he is Kiwi from his toes to his hat is a bonus isn’t it? That’s why so many NZ’ers relate to him.

I have met the man and found him a thoroughly confident speech maker, also informed and approachable on a one to one basis. Not a hint of arrogance despite the media trying to drum that up in him.

In 2012 he didn’t say it once.

What about the subjects he neglected to mention at all?

The evidence supports his critics.

He referenced “poverty” 15 times since 2007, barely twice a year. On several of those occasions, Key was claiming an absence of poverty in New Zealand.

There’s one unanswered question. Forget climate change, poverty and the Labour Party.

That’s the meme waikatogirl. He doesn’t believe in – gasp – AGW and he – gasp – hates children. (Because the media’s been setting up a meme between poverty and children for the last 18 months.)

Longknives – it’s the headline and start that doesn’t fit the rest of the article or describe what you’re going to get. Otherwise it seems sort of ok. And just a small distinction to you and I but they seem to be fussy about what is written for ‘Stuff’ and in this case taken from ‘The Press’ and posted *on* Stuff – not *by* Stuff. There’s some sort of a difference apparently.

Check the photo as well LRC. The media always carefully selects the visuals, because they know the emotional impact those have and it often sets the subliminal message they’re wishing for.

You mean why do the media report on those allegations and some people read those reports and blog on them?

because we are tribal and the Royals are part of our identity.

We are tribal but the Royals aren’t a part of my identity anymore than the PM of the day is a part of my identity. It’s surprising you yourself don’t make that same distinction. I would have thought it was part of being a self-aware adult.

They are not interested in the truth and only interested in covering their arses by still claiming Arthur is ‘guilty’ of the crime, it is clear that he is not, and that the real killer Demler is exonerated with no evidential basis for this conclusion whatsoever but that’s the way justice works in this country, the police are invincible and don’t plant evidence or create miscarriages of justice, yeah right!

Reid, it was Lenin’s grandfather who was Jewish – as he had a Jewish mother.

People are Jewish if there mother is, or they are Orthodox Jews by religion. So Lenin was not Jewish. He just had a Jewish ancestor.

Stalin’s mother was not Jewish. He was educated as a Christian.

His Georgian surname derives from the Georgian word for steel, thus the Russian surname adopted. He was named Iosif, rather than the Jewish Yosef etc.

He undertook a purge of Jews.

As for 97% of the party being Jewish? Really. When? Not at the time of Stalin’s purge surely?
